- Sue (10/5): Wonderful weekend - We stayed here for the weekend at the end of October 2025. Myself, husband and our dog. We had the 2 bedroom apartment upstairs. The building from the outside is beautiful. Upon entering, we weren't disappointed, the warm and welcoming atmosphere was just what we expected. Stefan greeted us, went through our details and showed us to our room. He confirmed the breakfast timings, confirmed our evening meal booking and showed us everything we needed for our stay. The upstairs apartment entrance initially made us think it wasn't going to be great, however, when we got into the apartment, the place was spotless and absolutely gorgeous. It was warm, clean, tidy, just perfect. We had prebooked our evening meal for 8pm and decided to go down to the bar early for drinks. Stefan directed us to a table, gave us menus and told us to order whenever we were ready, we ended up eating our food and finishing our meal before our original booking time. Our food was fantastic. I had the beef shin and it was cooked perfectly, I even recommended it to another customer and she also loved it. All staff were friendly and attentive and even brought treats and water for the dog. The next evening we ate there again and weren't disappointed. Upon finishing his shift, Stefan came over and thanked us for staying and that he hoped to see us again. The breakfast choices were plenty and great quality. I even mixed and matched my choices and there was no problem at all. This was a fantastic weekend in a beautiful place with lovely people.

- Susanne (6/5): Leider keine Empfehlung. - Das Zimmer war sehr schön gross, leider fehten Möglichkeiten etwas aufzuhängen wie zB Jacken, Taschen oder auch im Bad . Das Bett war völlig durchgelegen, man spürte JEDE Feder, gerade im Urlaub möchte man doch überhaupt schlafen??! Wir haben dann wegen einem Matratzentopper angefragt, der etwas half, aber zu dünn war, um vernünftig und schmerzfrei zu liegen. Auch unserer Frage nach 2 getrennten Decken kam man direkt nach . Besonders positiv möchten wir alle super netten Angestellten erwähnen!!!! Leider sind die Zimmer sehr hellhörig, in der 3. Nacht übergab sich 1 Mann nebenan 5 Mal, an Schlaf war nicht zu denken. Auch die Umgebung- Garten und Sitzmäglichkeit mit angrenzender "Pflanzenwand" war ungepflegt, man könnte etwas wirklich Schönes daraus machen.... das Frühstück war im Preis inbegriffen, schmeckte aber, egal ob Omelett, Pancakes oder French Toast nicht... sorry . Es fehlen Gewürze, Kräuter , alles . Man könnte die Zimmer, Umgebung und Frühstück von derzeit Level 3 auf wenigstens 8 bringen mit ein wenig Wille und Liebe . So wie es jetzt ist, können wir die Unterkunft nicht weiterempfehlen.

The pub and the restaurant oozed a quirky rustic charm and the food was cooked to perfection! Will certainly come back again! Highly recommended! There is nothing not to like about The Cock and Bull, we only wished we had booked a longer stay!

Staff are friendly and attentive and the breakfast is excellent and generous. The mattress was a little soft and the shower needed a shelf to put your staff.

Don't skip the seals beach 10 mins north. Really amazing! Also had one evening a perfect dinner in The Cock and Bull. Really worth it!

The restaurant doesnt have a seperate bar (this is misleading) so is closed by like 8/9pm and there is literally nothing to do nearby at night so would be nice to have a room you enjoyed being in. For the money would definitely not recommend.

We went for Ythan apartment definitely paying that little more as it has lots of space and an amazing view (we had to wait for the following morning due to haar - not a laughing matter) There is a nice space for enjoying a drink in the sun and the food was amazing. If you don't like DOGS don't book here, but if you do then this is an extra added bonus as it's a dog friendly establishment and the staff will ensure they get refreshment too. The only downside was there was a limited choice of vegetation options and the tomatoes at breakfast time could have been better if sliced into eighths rather than quarters.... But as previously said the food is of high quality.

- Nicole (10/5): As amazing as ever! - We've been coming here for years! It started as a little stopover, and now its a permanent part of our vacation. The rooms are beautifully furnished and the dogs especially love the small garden. The food is fantastic, varied and so delicious! The ambience is cozy and inviting. These are more than enough reasons to keep coming back, but the biggest is the staff. Everyone is incredibly friendly, lovely and eager to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

Breakfast was ample servings. The food served at dinner was not Michelin star quality. It was good pub food. Perhaps the photos on the website and the mention of Michelin star awarded food should be changed to avoid disappointed expectations.

We couldn’t have our dinner in the lounge and bar because it had been booked by others. Instead we had it in the rather stale dining hall which was empty. We just didn’t get the atmosphere and ambience we were seeking.
- Cynthia (9/5): Great Option North of Aberdeen - Spacious room in the annex to the pub. Coffee/tea/hot chocolate and biscuits. Desk and power outlets on both sides of the bed. Garden view, and despite backing on to the motorway, surprisingly quiet. Good breakfast and Sunday roast dinner. They also allowed us to park our motorcycles out of sight from the road near the annex. We did not book dinner reservations (on Fathers Day), so it seemed like it was an issue to squeeze us in (completely understandable). However, when we arrived at the appointed time, there were several tables open that remained open throughout our meal. It may have just been no-shows, but the effort to squeeze us in felt dramatic after the fact. Service was a tad slow for both breakfast and dinner, but very good otherwise. Our GPS had trouble getting us to the property, but I am assuming that our Europe chips do not reflect the “new” motorway and its exits.

- Tom (10/5): If ever in the area again this would be my go to place to stay. - Accommodation was of a high standard. The Inn was in a lovely location close to where we needed to be. The staff were very friendly and keen to assist. We had to leave before breakfast on the Sunday, to attend a competition, however the staff provided take away coffees and hot rolls. Very considerate of them. The evening meal on the Saturday was freshly cooked, enjoyable and plentiful. Special mention to Hayley and Sam. There was absolutely nothing wrong about this Inn. It ticked all the boxes with no negatives I could see.

We were in one of the garden rooms and it was very quiet and perfect for us and the dog. The breakfast was a great start to the day and the food in the evening was excellent. We had fantastic meals every time we ate there. All the staff were welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We were within 5 minutes of the beach which was beautiful especially in the evening. A great location for exploring Aberdeen and the surrounding areas. I highly recommend it here and we can't wait to come back. When it was time to leave as our stay was amazing.
