Guest Reviews
- سلطان (6/5): - The family is kind and tries to help. There is no internet access in the room, and there is no electrical outlet in the room.
- Slawek (9/5): -
- Michelon (10/5): - Puti is a very friendly host. Had a great time in his amazing homestay: great breakfast, and the animals singing around. Close to the city (1.5km) and to the ricefields. Puti is also a great musician and will be happy to teach you about balinese traditional music.
- Janelle (7/5): It’s great considering the budget I had for a week of stay. - Clean and tidy. They cleaned the room everyday, they fixed up the shower head right away. And healthy breakfast. Has fan and air condition. Nice view of fireworks during NYE. Huge bathroom and bathtub. Love the village. I also get to learn flute from the owner. Can hear the traffic and people chatting from the other room in the same building. The door is locked with a pad lock.
- Shakila (1/5): Bad - The accomodation is not the same as it’s in the photos. Not safe place to stay.
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Coralia (6/5): Pleasant -
- Rhianne (9/5): Superb -
- Sz (8/5): Nice and local home stay - Pondak and his family are very kind and helpful. My kids love to play their kids, too. They are a beautiful family. Some mosquitos which are common in Ubud.
- Vart (8/5): Very good - Super cozy and nice place. Friendly staff
- Giuliana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Abdul (8/5): Very good -
- Jochen (8/5): Very good - Banana pancakes!
Staff always there.
- Shaini (8/5): Very good -
- Vincent (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gediminas (1/5): Bad - It was the one of the worst stays i can remember in my life. I had a disappointing stay at Pondok Permata Home Stay. The room had a horrible smell, and I couldn't fully lock the door. The bath was dirty, and the hot water barely filled 1/3 of the tub before turning cold. The breakfast experience was off-putting, as I witnessed staff eating with their bare hands, making me question the hygiene standards. Overall, not a pleasant experience.
- Allirot (5/5): Personal very welcoming - Picture on booking.com and reel different (for my room). Bathroom dirty and machine On outside during all night. Not easy to sleep.
- Rachel (9/5): Good stay - Nice family, lovely property, tasty no fuss breakfast brought to the room
- Miguel (8/5): Good choice - Very nice family hotel, it gives you a great bali feeling, good breakfast and very quiet, the stuff are polite and friendly people. Distance from the village, and the hotel could have offered food in house, but they never did, that was a bit of a shame because we had a great terrace outside our rooms.
- Alexander (8/5): Second time visiting this Traditional Homestay. - friendly staff. Traditional Balinese decor. very modest prices. good shower water pressure. cold water only for wash-basin
- Annizah (10/5): Exceptional - Super duper nice hosts, from the staff to the owner. Mr. Putu is very loving and accommodating. The hostel is very affordable. The food in their menu are delicious yet cheap. Try to have dinner or lunch. All yummy! It’s an affordable accommodation, so do not expect that much. They have beautiful villa, but the property is old. Perhaps, they can make the entrance more attractive and make the bathroom tiles a bit whiter using clorox.
- Michele (6/5): Pleasant - little variation of the breakfast, only one day we got a different fruit. not a big deal, but appreciated different fruit
- Rosa (8/5): Good value for money - Lovely bathroom and comfortable bed. They also helped me sort out my laundry. Had a little insect scare in my original room, but it was quickly solved by changing me into another room.
- Nithiyaa (9/5): Superb -
- Fiona (10/5): Best accommodation in Ubud! - We loved everything about our stay at Pondok Permata. Putu, Ketut and Anom were brilliant hosts and looked after us well. They were so welcoming and kind, we truly felt part of the family. Both Putu and Ketut took us on amazing tours and we got to eat at local Balinese warungs to experience the real Bali. The whole family went out of their way for us, even arranging a Balinese wedding ceremony for us at short notice.
Pondok Permata is in a quiet location but only a short walk to the hustle and bustle of Ubud Town. Our room was clean and comfortable and beautifully presented. Breakfast was served in the room daily and we had the best banana pancakes we have ever tasted! We chose to eat most nights at their restaurant as the food was amazing and the price was very good.
We booked all our tours through Putu and Ketut and we got to see everything we wanted and more. The price of the tours is also very good and every trip is comfortable in an air conditioned car. We took a cooking class at the homestay which was so interesting and informative and we got to learn a lot about the Balinese way of life.
The family have 3 dogs and some birds and it was so relaxing to wake up to the sound of insects and birds tweeting each morning and have the dogs greet you every day!
The accommodation is exceptional for the price and the family will literally take care of everything for you so you don't need to use any other services in Ubud. You can eat there, arrange your tours there, rent scooters there and nothing is too much trouble. Ketut even drove me to a pharmacy when I came down with a bit of a chest cold and constantly checked on me to see if I was okay or if I needed a doctor.
Our holiday in Ubud was the best holiday we have ever had and that is all thanks to Putu, Ketut and their lovely family! I can't recommend Pondok Permata enough. If you're planning a trip to Ubud, you MUST stay there! Nothing! Everything was perfect - we couldn't have asked for more!
- Kristin (8/5): Very good -
- Nazli-ambrine (10/5): lovely family, lovely place.Best place in Ubud ! - well situated, the family was so nice.
really comfort.
they made our room, always asking about our program and if we need something.
well situated, perfect place.
- Ravi (8/5): Very good -
- Jessamine (9/5): Amazing value for money, a quiet location. - A beautiful homestay that absolutely exceeds value for money. The room was large, amazing bath tub and shower with plenty of hot water, and even a private kitchen with large fridge. Surprised and grateful for the TV; I was having issues with my laptop but could easily connect to the TV via a hdmi cable to get some essential work done.
Loved being greeted by the family every time I came and left (especially the dad!). The homestay is in the north of Ubud, away from the main hustle, which is exactly what I wanted. Yes, you will hear a little bit of noise from the street- but that's inevitable in Bali. Bring earplugs and you're good to go. This place is so worth it! I'd absolutely stay again! Just 2 notes about the private kitchen attached to the room I stayed in - I got a very low key electric shock as I tried to plug the kettle in. No big knife or chopping board provided to chop fruit and veg, but I'm sure the family would be more than happy to supply as needed.
- Neringa (10/5): a great stay and friendly staff - very spacious and clean room, a nice garden, and friendly stafg all was well, maybe a little bit of noise form the strewt
- Jasmine (10/5): LOVED IT - lovely staff, breakfast any time to your room, beautiful place bit far from town but if you have a bike it’s no issue
- Anna (9/5): Amazing stay & super cute family - We had a very nice stay & would have loved to stay longer. Room & bathroom is big and we loved the terrace. The family who owns the accommodation is super sweet, friendly & always helpful. The breakfast is super tasty & they bring it to your room every morning. We would always come back & wish the family all the best. Except for minor details, nothing. We were very satisfied with all.
- Claire (10/5): A week in paradise! - Staying at Pondok Permata was a beautiful experience, and the perfect base for a solo traveler. From the moment Putu picked me up from the airport I felt welcomed into the family! The room was large and nicely decorated with a massive ensuite bathroom. The traditional style of building means it stays naturally cool even in the heat! The outside terrace is a calm, private area to sit and eat breakfast in the mornings - definitely get the banana pancakes!! The location is great for sightseeing, just far enough away to be out of the bustle and traffic of the center, but still an easy 20-minute walk from most sights. On days when I didn’t feel like walking, there was always someone around to offer me a scooter ride in too! Wece and his family can also plan custom day trips to the surrounding sights, and they know the area so well they can take you to much less busy areas if you prefer!
The real stand out for me though was Wece and his family, three generations living together at the homestay. Everyone was so welcoming and happy to help with whatever was needed. They even invited their guests along to a festival at their local temple, lending us traditional clothing so we could join in. I couldn’t recommend Pondok Permata enough! Nothing :)
- Heather (9/5): Superb - Friendly and helpful people who made our visit special
