Guest Reviews
- Jamie (10/5): We loved our stay! It was wonderful. - The staff was outstanding and the food delicious. Loved the castle !! The only negative is the room was very, very, very small.
- Sabine (10/5): Ein entspannter Aufenthalt in Wohlfühlatmosphäre.

- Sarah (10/5): - We had such a fabulous short stay at the castle. The staff were so welcoming, to us and also our dog - our room even had a dog blanket, bowl and treats. Highly recommend the room with the bath - and take a bottle of wine from the wine vending machine! The on-site restaurant was also exceptional - we had a very special dinner there. Overall, what an incredible property... the access to the castle museum and garden area was really special, and we definitely hope to return.
- Agraphany (10/5): We will be back! - Everything there is very exceptional... from the moment we park the car we felt this is the most beautiful 😍 🤩 👌 hotel we ever had and yesss we are not wrong... please highly recommend this place book now with your love ones Please check with the hotel if your room have the bathroom downstairs or upstairs. Meaning like the room we had its two level which I LOVE by the way.For us its not a problem but if one of you had a knee problem bathroom might be an issue to go up and down on the stairs other than that dont wait to long book as fast as u can... 😉
- Windsurfer (8/5): location, environment, and staff are excellent - The location, the atmosphere, and the staff are really great. I don't know if I'll come back, but it's a place everyone should see at least once. The rooms were a bit smaller than I expected, but that's normal since it's a castle and there's no elevator. It can be difficult when it comes to luggage. On the day of our departure, there was roadwork at the castle entrance, so we had to wait about 45 minutes. The hotel staff did their best to help, but they should have informed us about this in advance. If there had been traffic, we could have missed our flight.
- Jones (9/5): -
- Lorraine (10/5): Super schöne Auszeit - Keine Kritik Evtl könnte man etwas Musik laufen lassen beim Frühstück
- Axel (10/5): Wunderbare Tage zum 30. Hochzeitstag!
- Gilbert (9/5): Magnificent hotel with very nice bar and restaurant. Amazing breakfast. - The friendliness of the staff, the charming bar and restaurant. the river views We had a room with bedroom upstairs. The TV was upstairs and we would have preferred it downstairs to view during the day/evening.
- JANVI (10/5): -
- Brett (10/5): Extraordinary! - Our favorite spot, such a great experience!
Everything was top notch.

- Elizabeth (10/5): - Our room had great views and a private little balcony. The restaurant staff was very friendly and welcoming, and the food was delicious. The castle and grounds we fun to explore with a very good museum. Im not sure why it isn't busier but that was ok with us! The location was close enough to take short day trips to other castles and do lots of things in the area. Absolutely beautiful vineyards.
- Terry (10/5): Fantastic stay in a real Castle!!! - It’s beautiful, very well maintained, it’s historical, romantic, fantastic restaurant! Nothing, I liked everything!
- Nikos (10/5): - A beautiful location to stay.
- Johan (10/5): -
- Rob (9/5): -
- Yvonne (10/5): Ein Muss - Einfach alles. Ein historisches Gebäude in traumhafter Lage. Schön, dass es sowas noch gibt. Daher ist das absolut zu empfehlen.
- Nate (9/5): A wonderful experience to celebrate an anniversary. - The breakfast and location was terrific. The views were wonderful and the staff was very attentive. Nothing comes to mind.
- Andreas (10/5): -
- Rebecca (10/5): - My kids and I stayed here. It was such a delight. There didn't seem to be much to do right in the small town where we were. The castle was perfect though for one night. We did the entire tour, had tea which was incredible, and then eventually had dinner which was also great. Breakfast too! We hiked around the town a bit and came back to hang out on site. If you stay for longer, make sure you check out the neighboring towns if you are looking for more to do. It is the Rhine for crying out loud, there is plenty if you have the time.
- banford (10/5): Wonderful - The location is beautiful. We stay in room #1. It was very nice. My only complaint was the bed was too firm for me.... but otherwise the most fascinating place I have stayed so far. The staff was very nice.
- Victoria (10/5): One of a kind, classy stop on the Rhein - The property is one of a kind, the hotel rooms recently renovated with no expense spared. We stayed in room 7, with a big balcony overlooking the Rhein river. Both the afternoon tea and breakfast were exquisite. This might not be a cheap place to stay but the experience is certainly worth it. If you are looking for a classy, private place to stay on the Rhein, this is the place to go. There is nothing to mention.
- Paul (10/5): - The hotel is on the property of a medieval castle. The cost of the room included a full tour of the castle. So cool!
- Nathaniel (10/5): - Great!
- Margaret (10/5): Very pleasant stopover - Very good Nothing
- godfred (10/5): - Staff were knowledgeable & very helpful.
- Ingrid (10/5): Great stop at castle - Excellent accommodation at the castle.Grrat river view, food was so tasty.
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Olivia (10/5): - This may be the best hotel I have ever stayed at. The castle and rooms are absolutely beautiful. The staff is kind and accommodating. I would 10/10 recommend!!
- Maxim (10/5): Unique experience - Quite unique place to stay. A real castle-museum that can be visited, good restaurant, friendly staff.
- Andrea (9/5): Clean, comfortable castle stay with amazing view and food - Amazing location and view Nothing
- Sandra (10/5): A truly special place - Absolutely gorgeous location - really spectacular! Everything was first rate. The restaurant was superb, we had dinner there twice and both meals were fantastic.
We totally loved afternoon tea. The view from the veranda while drinking a nice glass of Riesling was just beautiful. And don't miss the museum next door - very interesting with some lovely views over the river.
Unfortunately, our room was very plain, it could have done with a few pictures on the walls or some more TLC but that is a minor complaint when compared to how excellent everything else was.
- Sally (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amy (10/5): - The museum and the property itself and the staff
- Jillyan (10/5): - What an incredible experience. Exploring the Castle grounds in the morning and watching the sunrise from the tower is a memory I will never forget. My son loved everything about it as well. He especially loved the wild boar on the dining menu. The staff was amazing. Thank you again.
Herzlicher Empfang.
- Clara (10/5): An Amazing Esperience - The hotel was beautiful as a castle should be. The grounds were beautiful and the rooms were comfortable and spacious. A couple friends and I were hiking the Rhine River trail and it was an amazing splurge! The restaurant was delicious and the museum was fascinating. We were even able to have afternoon tea.
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent breakfast.
- Faye (9/5): Superb - Atmosphere was great! Restaurant food at dinner was not good
- Zhi (9/5): Superb - It’s a castle!! And the staff let me fly the drone in the morning. Not much. Access by public transport would need hard, so better go there with a car. And there’s no proper guest car park. You’ll need to park outside the gate off street.
- Lei (9/5): Superb -
- Carly (10/5): - Wonderful experience, everything was perfect
- Giorale (10/5): An enchanting castle vacation - an amazing hotel located in a wonderful castle.
delicious breakfast and helpful crew.
- N&l (10/5): Perfect for a night or two in a castle above the Rhine - Everything was excellent; location high above the Rhine, food, service, tasteful bespoke accommodation (there surely can't be another room anywhere like the one we had). Entry to the fascinating main castle/museum included. Nothing at all, although the room we had would not suit everyone, a certain amount of "mountaineering" required to access the Rhine view.
Little bit of noise from the railway far below, didn't bother us though.
- Alexander (9/5): Superb -
- Sofia (8/5): Amazing view and nice staff - Amazing view to the river and being in the castle During a heat wave the rooms had no AC which made it difficult to sleep
- Anne (10/5): - Beautiful castle ane excellent location
- Michelle (10/5): - Very special property - loved it! Included entry to the castle with audio tour, afternoon tea and breakfast. Beautifully appointed room and fabulous views of river and surrounding hills. Staff was wonderful.
- Harold (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay at the castle! Staff was kind and courteous, dinner at the restaurant was fantastic and the views are stunning.
- Anne (10/5): Would stay here again on a Rhine visit - Beautiful Location, super afternoon coffee spread, excellent breakfast, really lovely updated rooms. Great to have access to the castle grounds to explore a bit. Nothing!
- Edwin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Grant (10/5): Stay in a castle (sort of), you deserve it. - We had a great stay on essentially the castle grounds. After the castle is closed to visitors, you can access the castle with your room key. The room was huge and featured a nice bathtub, Breakfast was exceptional and was included. Great views of the Rhine. Although we didn't watch TV, the screen was pretty small.
- Melissa (10/5): An enjoyable, relaxing romantic get away. - Loved staying in this castle hotel. It was prefect for an enchanting, romantic get away. Beautiful room with modern amenities, acess to roam the castle and onsite restaurant with complementary breakfast easily puts this in a “recommend to others” category.
- Sssayner (10/5): Spend the night in a castle! YES - The window in our room overlooked the Rhine and provided all the amenities we required along with an air purifier! Delicious breakfast buffet with Eggs Benedict and mimosas! LOVED touring the home/castle!! We had the entire building to ourselves and enjoyed the audio guide which helped us learn the history of the Puricelli family. Overall an amazing stay. Highly recommended!!!
- Daniel (10/5): Wonderful castle and tour. - Awesome. Stay included access to Castle a free Audio tour at your own pace. They allow surprising access to the whole place. Room was modern and comfortable. Breakfast was splendid. Bike rental on-site to explore Rhine to Bacharach or Bingen. Nothing. It was a quiet retreat.
- Kretz (10/5): So fun to stay in a castle with clean modern rooms and excellent meals. - So fun to stay in a castle. The rooms are clean and spacious, meals where great.
- Louise (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joachim (10/5): - Gute Unterkunft, Personal spricht teilw. kaum deutsch. Sehr gutes Frühstück
- Richardson (10/5): Staff was attentive to every detail from the moment we set foot on the property. - Everything was fantastic
- Jonas (8/5): Wonderful castle stay in the lovely upper middle Rhine valley - Uniquely wonderful hotel. Our room was on the highest floor, overlooking the river valley below. Simply wonderful to wake up to every morning! The restaurant was very good, with lovely breakfast, regional cuisine for dinner and a great selection of local/regional wines. The closest shop is a 10 minute drive. And the reception/restaurant don’t carry any snacks besides 90s style chili nuts. There is a decent wine/beer/soft drink vending machine though. But really, with no shops in the vicinity the least you would expect is at least a cursory selection of snacks/sweets. Surely a missed opportunity to sell even more stuff to your guests??
- Hannah (10/5): Fabulous stay and the views were great. - Breakfast was excellent plus the afternoon tea offerings. The restaurant was also excellent. Our stay also included a tour of the castle.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - My stay here was absolutely magical. A room stay includes afternoon tea, breakfast buffet, a ticket to the museum, and access to the castle grounds. We also had dinner at the onsite restaurant - everything was delicious!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely room in a beautiful quiet castle.
- Jerry (10/5): - Nice place to stay to visit the region.
- Kevan (10/5): Excellant location and extremely friendly and helpful staff. - Excellant location and extremely friendly and helpful staff.
- Carri (10/5): - Beautiful view of the Rhine, quiet and peaceful. Nice restaurant with good food and service.
- Susanne (10/5): We loved everything about our stay at Burg Reichenstein - Staying at an old castle is a very unique experience. We liked pretty much everything. The rooms were comfortable, the food was very good, and the tour of the old castle was interesting.
- Stefan (10/5): Great experience! - Perfect location in a historic castle. Very authentic!
- Nadia (6/5): Nice sophisticated castle hotel experience and lovely location, but not expensive. - Good location- beautiful views
Nice service
Very nice restaurant
Great to be able to go to the castle grounds when we wanted. Expensive for the size of the room we got - €300 for an attic room- but that’s probably usual in a castle hotel.
To be aware, there are no communal area or facilities, no reception after 6pm and only the main restaurant. And no elevator (although we were aware and didn’t mind).
Lack of clarity on what we were paying- Booking.com charged me €4 extra to upgrade room but in reality that wasn’t possible at the hotel as only one room had twin beds.
A lack of clarity on the dinner menu- despite my asking several times what came with the main course - meant I had too much food ie 2x main courses and was charged for it. Less about the money, more about setting out the menu more clearly.
- Sara (10/5): Beautiful location on the Rhine - Such a beautiful place to stay on the Rhine! We were upgraded to a bigger room which was perfect. People mention the trains on the river side are loud but we didn't even notice them! Breakfast was delicious and the tour of the castle an added bonus. Lovely staff too. Our room has about 12 power outlets but only one was able to be used! Not really anything wrong, just curious! A small refrigerator in the room would make it perfect.
- Thomas (10/5): We found the room to be very nice and meeting Herr Lambert Lensing-Wolff was an unexpected joy. - The breakfast was delicious, the staff friendly, the breakfast room was very welcoming The parking could be improved. Due to the construction there was no parking except along the road.
- Sunil (10/5): - Beautiful hotel. Very good service, always with a smile. Love the location, close to Bingen, train station nearby. Restaurant food and breakfast both very good.
- ronald (8/5): Frustrating Start, overall enjoyable - The start to our stay was not good. We got off the train at Trechtingshausen and Google Maps told us to head down Mainzer St. to get to the hotel. The entrance from Mainzer St is very steep and dirt path that was quite grueling with our heavy luggage. Once we got to the top out of breath, we realized there was a road that we should have taken. We arrived at 7pm and the reception building out front was closed and the gate to the castle was locked. We were confused for quite a bit before we tried the restaurant on site. They had our room keys. Im sure part of it was because of our language barrier, but as much as we spent on the hotel I would think they would know we might encounter these issues and let us know earlier in the day. The room was clean, but very small. The rest of our stay was just fine, no complaints, just a bad first impression.
- Mariko (10/5): Perfect stay - I loved the afternoon tea service and the breakfast. The best egg benedict I've ever had. nothing
- Jennifer (5/5): Passable -
- Calendar21 (9/5): Modern convenience wrapped in history - beautiful hotel / museum / restaurant - It is so well done, just a great addition and reconstruction - everything quality. The museum was amazing. You walk through the house of the family and the collection is huge and so "warm" (not cold and sterile like many museums), as are the various viewpoints of the Rhine. Also, very dog-friendly incl having a bed and bowl for our fur baby. Breakfast was good and the afternoon free coffee/cake/light snack was all great, as was dinner and wine (and fun to have a wine vending machine in case you need a late nightcap ;-)) A small point that they can easily rectify (and that we gave as feedback directly) is that you need to put the actual address of Burgweg 24 55413 Trechtingshausen into your Navi or phone. We just use our phone as the Navi and it came up with the parking below the Hotel. We could not figure out how to drive up to the door and when we called we got an answering system so we just hauled our bags up the hill, which made for a grumpy start that will be avoided by any reading this review and hopefully the hotel will make sure it is clearer on the website. Otherwise a really great stay. Ps. If you come with the train it is also an uphill walk with your luggage
- Giridhar Narasimha (10/5): - Amazing castle stay and a very luxury weekend. Cant say anything negative about it. High tea and breakfast was included and we got a River view room with breath taking views. Would definitely want to come back here, again and again.
- Gerald (8/5): Romantisch, Stilvoll, Mondän - Mondän, historisch, modern und dennoch zeitlos Stilvoll.
- Meleesa (9/5): Superb -
