Guest Reviews
- 118angit (10/5): Hidden Gem. - Very clean.
Nice front desk staff.
Modern decor in rooms.
Steps to North Beach.
Great location to Texas Aquarium and USS Lexington.
Covered parking .
- Edmund (10/5): - Yes great!
- 169betsyf (6/5): A bit disappointed - This hotel was okay. It's clean and the staff were nice. It's within a mile or so of the Aircraft carrier Lexington and the Aquarium, both of which were on our "to-do" list. We were expecting a resort hotel where we could actually see the ocean from our "ocean view" room. While the beach is a short walk away, and we saw some bit of water from our room, there is a large multistory restaurant that blocked most of the view. This hotel has no elevator, and all of the rooms are accessible only by an outside concrete stairway. If I had known this ahead of time, I would not have stayed here. The rooms appear to be spotty in quality; it looks like some have been renovated with new furniture, smart TV's, etc. Our room had not been upgraded, so the furniture looked like late "thrift store" items, the TV was old/had no apps, and the mattress on the bed had a deep depression on one side as if a patient from My 600-lb life had sat on it a while- not at all comfortable. If you stay here, you're taking your chances.
- DAMIAN (10/5): - I love everything
- Stephanie (10/5): - Wonderful
- Stephanie (10/5): - This property is awesome! Great service and great amenities
- Holger (10/5): - Had a pleasant stay Thank you very much
- Matias (8/5): - .
- OnAir30070697366 (8/5): Pet friendly Hotel - This is a hard review to write because there is good and some not so good. The hotel is one of the best in condition compared to what I see around it. We chose this hotel because it’s dog friendly and the deposit is fully refundable. Location is great. You’re close to everything. I love the option that the beach is right there. The staff is exceptional! They are one of the only hotels that I’ve stayed at that took your comfort to heart. If you need anything at all they will get it and bring it to your door faster than you can get back to your room. The only cons is one electrical switch didn’t work. The chair wasn’t in too good shape. Otherwise the room was in good shape. I will say I clean every single hotel room I stay at as soon as I get there. So I’m actively looking for dirt. Above the head board was a bit dirty. Normal guest might. It even notice this. I do. The front desk was kind enough to bring me a broom and dust pan to keep the sand out of the room. That’s not on the hotel it just is what is is staying on a beach. The root question is would I stay here again or recommend this place? I would for pet owners. It worked out well for us.
- Kay (10/5): - Fyn
- Dwayne (10/5): - I liked it was very close to the beach and staff was very helpful
- Heaven (10/5): - Clean compared to others
- Glenn (4/5): - We have stayed at HDV several times over the years. I don't know if they are under new ownership but the two desk clerks I spoke with were of middle eastern decent. Although friendly, they were not locals. One, a young woman, looked puzzled when I told her there used to be a Ferris wheel in the Fajitaville parking lot. As the first source for knowledge and recommendations, they were inept. They advertise discounts for the Texas State Aquarium that were invalid, and the second clerk, a man, who I spoke with over the phone, gave a vague excuse. So we didn't get a discount and they're not supporting attractions that bring them business. When we checked out our room, the table lamps beside the bed had beat up shades and the light bulb on one was taped to its base and laying over from no support. I asked that it be replaced. We walked to Pier 99 and upon return, there was a young man knocking on our door. We waved from the parking lot and he said he'd fixed the lamp but thought he'd left a door key in the room. When we got up to our room, the lamp had not been repaired or replaced. We notified the desk clerk and she replaced it herself. The bed was creeky and the pillows flat. The mini frig made a loud noise like a coffee pot brewing and we finally unplugged it so we could sleep. The next morning, we absorbed the water with towels and pulled a very large chunk of ice from the freezer. When we plugged it back in, the noise was tolerable. All this indicates poor management.
- Robert (10/5): - Check-in fast and desk lady very nice. The room was large, bed comfortable and had all amenities; refer, microwave, iron and board, TV. What was really nice, was many conveniet plugs to charge items. Clean and well stocked restroom.
Only issue was there is pay to park. A phone app was needed to pay. For an older person, like me, it was a but confusing. Had a bay view that was nice. All-in-all, a very plesent stay. Will use again when I come back
- Debbie (8/5): Cute Hotel - The hotel is charming! Staff were very friendly & helpful!! Our only complaint was that the bed was pretty uncomfortable. Also, the coffee “fixins” are of poor quality (in room). We loved being near the beach!
- Melissa (10/5): - The person that checked us in was friendly. The room was very comfortable with soft beds and it was very clean.
- Joann (6/5): - Not worth the money
- Amy (8/5): - Didn't like that we had to pay to park in a parking lot of a hotel we paid to stay at for the night. That is an added cost that I didn't appreciate. Front desk guy could have been nicer or more helpful when checking in.
- Carlos (6/5): - Property was fine what i didnt like was having to pay for parking and extra 100 dollars that i had to leave for deposit on top of what i paid for the room for the one night.
- Connie (4/5): - Didn’t feel safe, ac wasn’t cold enough. Make sure you see you have to pay for parking and use of ice and pool!
- Ismael (10/5): - By the ocean
- MOHAMMAD RAKIBUL (8/5): - Good
- Courtney (8/5): - The only complaint is that we had to pay to park at the hotel. 13.00 dollars
- Jesus (6/5): - Bed are really hard ! But nice location
- Jesse (10/5): - Nice quiet affordable room. Beach is walking distance. Property was clean and well lit. Staff was friendly and polite. Reason we decided to book is the ratings.
- Brenda (10/5): - We had a little issue with our room upon arrival but the hotel corrected it immediately. We enjoyed our stay. Location was excellent and hotel is dog friendly! Our room was cool and comfortable for the 4 of us. Will definitely stay again!
- Devanand (8/5): - Was a good rate for being so close to a beach, not a 5 star hotel but good for families on a budget wanting to be lsoe enough to walk to the beach.
- Julie (10/5): - Extremely comfortable beds, clean rooms, walking distance from the beach and food.
- Marco (10/5): - Enjoyed our stay
- Yanette (10/5): - This is where we always stay. It’s a convenient location, friendly staff and always clean.
- Emma (2/5): Wouldn’t recommend - It was terrible, be prepared to pay for parking extra, we couldn’t enjoy the swimming pool it had green water, no lighting in the restrooms, clogged toilet. For the money that I paid, I expected at least minimum services. Will never go back!
- Raelynn (8/5): - 👍
- Erica (8/5): - Walking distance to the beach and restaurants. Pool was clean and warm maybe stay open a little longer then 9pm
- Robin (8/5): Surprised by this little gem - I normally do not say at a motel type accommodation but I read a few reviews and saw that the facility had been renovated so we took a chance. It was surprisingly nice, clean and quiet. My husband and I enjoyed it and we like the fact that we were able to walk right to the beach. It was really nice.
- Eileen (10/5): - Nice place !! Loved it
- Fabian (2/5): - There was a infestation with roaches and visible mold on the ac unit
- Esmeralda Luna (10/5): - For the price it was good and my room was clean
- Lynette (10/5): Grea - It was really good room were clean so was the bathroom so wish I could order their shampoo , conditioner, and body wash they were awesome love the smell
- Erasmo (8/5): - Great location by the beach with restaurants nearby. Large clean room, great looking restroom looked newly renovated. Only downside was climbing the stairs and $10 parking.
- Francisco (10/5): - Excellent stay!
- kimberleyc836 (6/5): Spend a little more go elsewhere - Bare minimum. Call it a “beach motel”. Not nice enough for my almost $300 bill for one night, one queen bed. Drink rings on the end tables grossed me out.
- Kimberley (6/5): - The outside of the property is very nice. The location to the beach is great. Not a direct view it is obstructed by a large restaurant directly in front of it but you can still see on either side. Parking is limited and you have to pay for it. The pool is small. The bedding looked clean. Bathroom possibly had been cleaned, not sure. The rooms were very basic, drink ring stains on the furniture, box springs on the bed visible with no covering, dirt around that area, outside each room was water pooling from the AC unit and inside the unit sat on a wooden box. For almost $300 for one night I’d say definitely not worth the money.
- Maria (4/5): - I don’t recommend staying at this place at all for various reason.
First of all their rooms are in the second and third floor, but there’s no elevator. Therefore a handicap person will probably have a very hard time getting to the room or not be able to. My mom has very bad knees and was in so much pain by the time she got to the room.
Secondly, they charged an additional fee for parking. I have never stayed at a place that charges for parking.
Lastly, they have a speed bump(SEE PICTURE BELOW) that is not marked as most speed bumps in the back of the property. I accidentally fell and scrape both of my knees. It has been two weeks, and I haven’t recovered from the injury. My knees are still hurting.
Luckily, the reservation was only for 1 night and were able to move to another hotel. We were very pleased with the hotel we stayed at the second night.
- Mark (10/5): - My number 1 want from a hotel, since my trips are in the summer, is that the air conditioner works well. The Hotel De Ville's AC was the best I have enjoyed in a hotel including some that I paid a hell of a lot more for than I did the De Ville. The walk-in shower was also excellent. The staff was polite and helpful and you are in easy walking distance of the North Beach. Parking is 9.99 a night but it was pointed out as you make your resevation and there is a good chance you can park in a covered space. If you are looking for a clean, safe no frills place to stay this is it.
- monica (8/5): - Right by the beach
- Ray (4/5): - Seems dirty, ac isnt working properly, dirty windows, dirty shower, security deposit needed when checking in which i dont mind paying if its a 5 star hotel plus a resort fee? There is nothing here that resembles a resort. Supposed ocean view but i could not see anything but a restaurant infront of me.
- Robert (8/5): - I love staying there and adding the pool is a plus
- Leslee (10/5): - my all around experience was excellent i highly recommend
- Tracie (10/5): - Had a good time and enjoyed the service ☺️
- Verified traveler (2/5): Go somewhere Else - When to check in had two rooms reserved and said only one room was reserved got
charged for both then had to Pay for another room. The room was being remodeled and painted and it still had containers of paint and materials in the room. The bed was awful!!!
- Todd (8/5): - Great location very short walk to beach & restaurant. Beautiful pool on property.
- Nilda (6/5): - Bed was extremely soft or wrong both sides ( king ), the center of bed was the only firm area on bed.
- Ashley (10/5): - Was such a great place to stay right off the beach. Staff was super friendly!
- Arturo (8/5): - It aerved its purpose for an unexpected overnight stay. Parking was not free, but room was clean.
- John (2/5): - This property was run down. When booking not notified of only paid parking, no breakfast. At check-in not notified of closed pool, no maid to clean, bring coffee, towels. When concerns were brought to staff and manager, all they said was , sorry. Rooms had lots of water damage and mold.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Its ok i guess. - Ok, first the good. Great location, customer service was nice upon check in clean and cute rooms. Rooms are sound proof for the most part. Not so good. The pool was, and has been out of service. It was making a loud sound that you can hear through the sound proof walls. There was paint slopped on curtains, chair and floor from a messy ceiling paint job. Late night customer service was lacking knowledge on anything about the place. Left the plaquard on the door to clean the room but nobody came. Went to get linens and front desk gave me the wrong linens and said there were no other clean ones.
- Velma (10/5): Saved Our Weekend!! - I made our reservations literally five minutes before we arrived, after leaving a HORRENDOUS hotel (Do NOT stay at the Quality Inn on the same street!) about two blocks away. We got a beautiful room with an ocean view at a very reasonable price. The staff was polite and helpful, no matter who was at the front desk. The only thing that could've made it any better is if they offered breakfast. It's a little further from the beach than some of the others, but you still get a great view of the ocean and, if you walk on the access road, it's still a straight shot that takes about five minutes.
There is also a restaurant behind the hotel that we didn't check out, but it's worth putting on the list. You will not be disappointed if you stay here.😊😊
- Dawn (4/5): Poor Stay - The drapes wouldn't close and there was only 1 lock on the door I didn't feel safe also the outside light was glaring in my room all night. Having to pay for parking was crazy too. The shower was amazing water pressure and temperature were perfect. However I do not recommend this because when I voiced my concerns at check out I was told that they were aware of them because other guests had made the same comments and nothing had been done. Mold in the corner by the door as well
- Bryon (4/5): - Very rarely. Do I submit a bad review? At least one this bad sit down, pull your boot straps up this 1's going to get a little deep. For starters, when you book a room either through the hotel or a online site such as Expedia., Prepare
To pay.
- Paul (2/5): - Does NOT have an ocean view! Rooms are dirty, door doesn't fully close, tv doesnt work nor did the remote and on top of it all they charge for parking.
- Kristin (6/5): Hot! - The A/C did not cool the room
- Kelly (8/5): - Hotel is a little dated! Wasn’t too bad!! Will stay again
- Dimitri (8/5): - Great stay, the staff is very friendly, we had little kids, they let us check in a bit early, thanks, nice and renovated bathroom and shower some cons, the toilet was not working 100%, we had to fill bucket to help the flushing, the shower curtain is short and while you taking a shower all that water comes out on the floow, and really like a flood abit. Parking is not free, you have to use some sort of app, registration, personal data to pay 10$, which is inconvenient. Other than that the place is nice.
- JoAnn (10/5): Best sleep - It was amazing We slept well . Pool wasn’t ready yet but in the process . Service was great and friendly . Recommended to all of my family .
- Lawrence (10/5): Sunrise views - Overall experience was great! Check in and out was quick. Cold a/c. Strong shower pressure and basic essentials provided. Pool was dirty and beds were a little uncomfortable but other than that a well provided Hotel. Would recommend.
- Michael (8/5): - Great location. Friendly staff. The only issue was our A/C in the room kept turning off and on. Not cycling, but literally shutting off and then turning on during the night. Made it difficult to get a good sleep.
- Ben (8/5): - Like the location and the price
- MARIA (6/5): - Hotel within walking distant of beach. Area too poor and the buildings are run downed and in desperate need of repair. No homeless people.
- MARIA (4/5): - Area too depressed, but no homeless people.
- Lawrence (10/5): Nice place to be close to the Beach - Our stay was very nice. It was very close to the beach within one block from the room to the water thank you
- 905danai (6/5): Pet friendly - The Beds were hard but everyone has a preference nice view of water restaurant on same property no swimming pool it was closed on weekends you can hear music from balcony pet friendly was a plus restaurant had nice seats to enjoy the view of the water
- Julie (10/5): - Its was a fast trip but nice comfortable beds big and nice.
- Pamela (6/5): - Ok
- Qingshan (6/5): - Property was under construction while I was staying there, and was actually difficult to find because they changed the color of the building. Otherwise, it was average–more like a motel than a hotel.
- Todd (10/5): Couples retreat - Awesome date nights with my wife! Awesome place to stay within walking distance from beach!
- susan (4/5): - Some young folks may like this place. For 'wrinklies', 4 or more flights of outside stairs, no elevators or ramps and no working house phone in the room was a challenge that with the problems encountered during registration was a 'turn off'. The place is pictured with the colorful bar/restaurant in the ad. In reality, its plain and old. BUT, it offers free, self parking in the lot. That's a biggee! The colorful bar is nearby.
- Ignacio (8/5): Melas Birthday - First time staying, and was not disappointed. Will definitely stay again.
- Jason (8/5): - Great location and walkable.
- Floyd (6/5): Could of done better - Pool looked like it was running but they said they were working on it. Didn’t say anything about it online. Had lights right outside the window that were so bright could read a book inside with the lights off at night, would have been nice to have blackout curtains
- Gail (6/5): - It was ok. Could hear all other guests walking by. Our toilet was broken and they did not fix before we left.
- Jamie (8/5): - The room definitely needed a better cleaning job
We did have to go a buy a pack of antibacterial cleansing wipes and wipe down all surfaces, countertops, desk chair, television, windows, doors and vents
The cleaning person absolutely did not do this prior to our stay in this room
- Friedrich (8/5): - Good
- Brittah (10/5): - Beautiful comfortable room. Loved the view.
- Lorraine (10/5): - It was close to the beach
- steve (8/5): - No breakfast at all. The office needs signage so u can find it. The hotel sign itself is on the side of the motel instead of the front, so not that easy to see. The room was very nice, clean, the floor needs attention, one of the tile is loose. The lighting at night was great! The outside was very clean!
- Verlis (10/5): Little Quiet Get Away - Good overnight stay close to the beach and good food.
- Robert (10/5): Weekend at North Beach - .Just a little get away with a friend and her little girl.
- Diana (10/5): - I liked that is convenient for us to walk to the beach short distance and we don't need to drive and I like that we were able use the ice machine to keep our drinks cool.
- Marissa (10/5): - Loved the view and it was very peaceful
- Lily (8/5): - We appreciated that the hotel was a very small walk towards the beach. The ocean view was also nice. The room could use a little updating and the bed was really squeaky but for the price we were satisfied with our stay.
- Sabrina (6/5): - It wasn’t bad just a bit messy and broken items
- Andrea (10/5): - Remodeled iconic motel on North Beach. No frills, but clean and comfortable. Short walk to the beach, shopping and restaurants.
- Adan (10/5): Great place - Really love this place we have stayed here several times and never disappoints. Love the rustic look inside the rooms
This time only one thing they charged my card 3.50 and when I asked why he said I bought a candy bar for # I didn’t and 2 I didn’t even know yall sold candy bars so my thing is not the money it’s the principal that to be more aware of who your charging purchases to but love this place. Very close and convenient to restaurants, the Lexington and the beach.
Oh and I wasn’t charged only because I brought it to their attention so they removed the charge before processing card
- Jennifer (10/5): Awesome views and great management! - This hotel is amazing with perfect views! The new pool they are building will be amazing when complete! We even extended our stay 3 more days because it was so great! The new owners are making huge improvements! Safe parking and every comfort was extended to us.
- Cynthia (8/5): - Sliding door to the restroom was off the rail. Lamp was being held together with gray tape. Alot of trash and nails along the stairway.
- kathy (8/5): - Desk court could not understand how we wanted the room price divided.
- Teri (10/5): - Limited parking. I had to park on the street. Room was nice.
- RYAN (4/5): - Older property
Mattresses hard
Curtains did not fit window and fell on departure almost hitting daughter
- Antoinette (6/5): - Updated coffee makers needed. Ac units super loud. Towels are really cheap
- Naomi (10/5): - My go to hotel for corpus year round
