- F4696JZhollys (6/5): Nice room, centrally located, horrible lighting and very noisy - Stayed in a 1 bedroom suite with my husband and so for a weekend trip to visit McGill University. We arrived super late (1AM) and there was no one at the Front Desk to check us in. We waited a few minutes and then called and about 10 minutes later someone showed up. Not a super long wait but after an exhausting trip late in the night, it would have been nice to be able to check in immediately. Ended up getting f a 2nd floor room which I think was the biggest issue. There was absolutely no light in the room so you were walking around in the dark. The only way to get any light in was to open the blinds but 1) after sundown it doesn’t help bc it’s dark outside and 2) during the day it’s on the 2nd floor so everyone can see right into your room. The room also faced the street and an alley so it was extremely noisy all night. You can hear sirens, traffic and drunken folks in the street. I had a horrible nights sleep. The room itself was beautifully designed and spacious so I really wish the lighting and noise situation could be resolved. We didn’t eat at the restaurant but we had drinks and the espresso martini was one of the best I’ve ever had. The hotel has a lot of potential but there’s no way to know if we were on a higher floor the light situation and noise situation would be better. The location was perfect for us being walking distance to McGill and Old Montréal. I’m not sure I would book again. Part of me hopes the situation would be better on a higher floor but if I got stick again on a lower one I would not go back

- Companion49347285637 (6/5): Perfect location with a boatload of issues = a fail - Perfect location with a boatload of issues: - we arrived with multiple bags, carry-alls and two larger coats which took us two trips to bring to the lobby. No one offered help and all we needed was a luggage trolly. I assumed the hotel did not have any. The next day, I spotted 6 of them in the corner of the lobby area, which means they *two* individuals at the check in desk chose not to suggest them. That ='s a fail - Travelzoo Deal purchase, which means we expected to receive a "dog suite", but this unit has been left in tattered conditions, lack of lighting, instead of a closable bathroom door there is a sliding door that does not shut the one space you'd want privacy. That ='s a fail - When your bathrobes are unwashed and pilling to the point of large chunks of fabric coming off, it's time to retire them. This one is a serious fail - 3 nights, our room was serviced once, the conditioner bottom, which is attached to the wall, was empty. That ='s a fail - the sliding bathroom door has not been wiped or cleaned in a long time, along with the handheld shower head. That ='s a fail These all add up to an experience which could have been slightly raised and changed what, outside of the hotel, was a wonderful visit
- Joyceanergy (8/5): Great stay overall - Room is great layout, spacious and newly renovated. Hotel in perfect location, easy to access tourist attractions. Front desk team and Concierge team are amazing and enthusiastic, specially Veronique from Front Desk team, who always go above and beyond. She ensured we have good time (big thanks to her) and always make us feel welcome from check in time till end of stay. However, Housekeeping service was upset us. We stayed for 2 nights and we were informed that service is everyday. So, before heading out we always stopped by front desk to informed we out and want service but at the end of the day room still not serviced. But again, Thanks to Veronique, she take a good care of us and handling situation really professional that make me plus a star to 4/5 haha. Overall, except Housekeeping service, everything was amazing. Will come back and hope hotel communication is better for service.

- V8337TNjennifers (10/5): Weekend in Montreal for a family celebration of life. - It started as our second choice for a hotel close to McGill for my brother's celebration of life. Following our stay there, it is now our first choice for Montreal. The accessibility suite was perfect for our needs, except for a slippery wheel-in shower floor, the concierge responded positively to our concerns. Staff are warm, friendly, the ambience inviting. From start to finish, it was perfect - both my 95 year old mum and her caregiver were treated with dignity and respect. The East restaurant for dinner is amazing - the lychee sangria must not be missed. I found the low noise level to be really good for my neurodivergence, and also for people with hearing difficulties. clean, rooms, funky art details, Nespresso machine in the room! Location just off St. Catherine St. is great for doing things within 20 minute walking distance. i would recommend this hotel/restaurant for friends, and i will stay here next time I'm in Montreal.

- ny_murray (10/5): Great location! - Hotel is in a great location--just one block off Eaton Centre and the reso station. We were able to walk everywhere, 5-10 min to McGill, 15 min to Chinatown, 25 min to Old Montreal. If you like to explore a city by walking, this is a good place to be. The hotel room itself was fine, no issues, and everything was clean. The gym is more than adequate. Although the equipment is not the newest, everything worked well and there was plenty of room to work out. There were 3 ellipticals, 1 reclining bike, 2 treadmills, and the free weights area. Would stay here again.

- sambT9802VG (8/5): Off to a slow start but… - When I arrived at 2:00 pm local time I asked if my room could be made available as I had several virtual meetings to attend and I did not want to take these calls in the lobby. I was met with a dower non enthusiastic “nope” to my question about room availability. I indicated that I am a Gold Elite member but that seemed to also fall flat. I was told that check in time is 4:00 PM I set up my laptop in the lobby and tried to do some work. Approx 30 minutes later, I was told by the same now smiling person that my room was ready and an upgrade had been provided. Wonderful response but hotels need to remember that first impressions in life matter and as a first time guest at this expensive hotel, I did not feel very welcomed receiving a grunt upon arrival and being made to feel that my presence was an inconvenience Overall the hotel is lovely, quiet and full of meaningful amenities I should mention that I had a rental vehicle and while the hotel handles this portion quite well, the valet service begins at 7:00 AM and I had a 6:00 AM flight. In my case, I was given instructions to go and find my car at the hotel’s lot across the street and that was a demanding task at 4:30 AM to try and locate my car. Make note of this inconvenience if you have an early flight like I did.

We had a nice room and stayed 3 nights. Sadly our room was not cleaned on the last 2 nights which I can completely live with but our coffee facilities were not replenished and this is more annoying and a fundamental of a hotel stay.

- leasN3769HP (8/5): Modern Hotel with a Lobby Swing! - The lobby of the Renaissance Montreal Hotel is a welcoming treat. We were there in October, and a fire (electric) was often dancing in a wall hearth which added a nice warmth to the modern decor. We were there with our grandchildren (ages 7 and 10), and there was a SWING in the lobby which they loved. Receptionists Audrey and Joanne were particularly helpful and friendly in making suggestions and adjustments to our room in order to better accommodate our stay with young children. The restaurant off the lobby offered delicious meals with an Asian flair and the Crepes Classique and Crepes Renaissance were a delightful surprise. Server Gabriel was kind, friendly, and efficient. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable, but we found the wall paintings of large faces - in our rooms, created with wide brush strokes of black paint - jarring. The hotel was convenient to a nearby mall with an expansive food court and arcade, and the fabulous Indigo bookstore was a block or two away. The old city was about a 15 minute walk.

We had experienced a 14 hour train trip from NYC and arrived almost at closing time. Felix was very helpful in our selection of menu items and adult beverages. Over our 2 day stay we ate at the restaurant 3 times. We look forward to seeing Felix on our next visit to Montreal.great restaurant and hotel accommodations.

- Gilles (10/5): Small hotel with top class amenities! - Location Location Location! Feels like a boutique hotel, feels like home. Was in suite 204 for most of my stay, which was very comfortable, Murphy bed very comfortable, great desk by the window to work. Enjoyed the great restaurant on site, where I invited guest my last night to join me, ended up spending about $700 on food / drinks during my stay. Already reserved for Sept 7 to 12 as my home base for my next business trip.
- Jameika (8/5): Would recommend!!! - Very nice hotel, aesthetically pleasing to look at and the location was A+ excellent! Everything was walking distance and the staff were friendly. Third time returning back when visiting from Toronto to come here. Thank you! The TV was extremely slow in room 703. It kept shutting off and turning black. This was the last room that we booked on a whim, because, everything was already booked, however the TV took million of years and there was no AC or very little air flow. We were both melting in the day/night. I would also prefer the washroom to be double checked as there was still dirt scum and hair in the little corners that is clearly visible.
- Eleven Events (10/5): - Had an amazing time at the Renaissance. Came in town for my birthday weekend and they welcomed me with a beautiful note, cupcake and room upgrade. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Location is perfect walking distance to a lot of shops and restaurants. This was my first experience with this hotel and will definitely won't be the last. Thank you for making my birthday special.

- AnnPalmerUK (8/5): Decent modern hotel in the business area of Montreal - The hotel is fine, and breakfast in the restaurant was good. The location is a good 30 minute walk to the old part of Montreal. No bars or coffee shops near the hotel. You need to walk up to the Eaton Square shopping centre , but check when that opens.
- Joan Irene (8/5): - Location - v good. Room ok, but lacking drawer/ shelf space for 2 people. Very dark - lighting poor, especially for putting on make up. Quilt was far too heavy & hot for 25-35°C temperature. Housekeeping was rather lax in making up our room. At least 2 occasions front desk was informed. Not done until after 4pm. Another occasion not until 8 pm. One day, insufficient staff meant a simple breakfast took an hour and a half. East had delicious food, but some portions were too much. Pleasant roof top bar.

When I reached the hotel, they would not change it or would not assist in trying to rectify the issue. Please next time inform your customers that it’s not in Canadian.m dollars, when quoting.

- Donna (8/5): - We really enjoyed our stay. Our room was very clean, the hair products were Kevin Murphy, Nespresso for coffee. Beds were comfortable and I loved the robes. My only two things that prevent me giving a rating of excellent were the dinning and there is no pool. Both hotel restaurants are an Asian infused theme. That was not a good fit for my youngest son. We needed up having to order delivery for him and room service for us. I was disappointed there was no pool. It said there was I believe , it was also listed on the amenities in the room. Other than those two things it was wonderful. Location was amazing, staff were wonderful, decor was very cool.

- Artur (9/5): Quarto espaçoso e confortável. - A localização é excelente, a uma quadra da Rue Sainte-Catherine, a principal rua comercial de Montréal. Vários dos principais pontos turísticos da cidade podiam ser acessados caminhando. O quarto era espaçoso e limpo. O café da manhã era saboroso, embora fosse no sistema a la carte. Não sabíamos que o café da manhã era a la carte. A refeição era saborosa, mas demorava muito para sermos servidos. Não é nada prático para quem tem pressa. Outro ponto a melhorar é a disponibilização de tomadas próximas das camas, um problema comum em vários hotéis.

Le bar en terrasse est vraiment très bien ainsi que la nourriture. Le petit-déjeuner était copieux et excellent. Rien, j'y retournerais assurément.
- Edmund (10/5): - Very nice rooftop bar, staff was awesome. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. They also have another dining option on the first floor. I did not experience that one but several food options, nearby and walkable to China town and Old port15-20 min. If you are into fitness, there is a Vitamin/supplement store across the street and there’s a Nike store, Also a short distance if you need short, shoes and things of that such. 10-15 minute Uber ride can get you to most attractions for those who don’t fancy walking too much. Clean, comfortable, a touch of class without being bougie! Nice place to stay and feel safe, yet reasonably priced. If undecided on what to eat, be adventurous and ask the bar staff for recommendations they won’t steer you wrong.

- Connector19496299423 (2/5): Marriott & Priceline: A Double Letdown – No Refund, No Empathy - We booked a special anniversary trip from Chicago to Montreal (July 17–20, 2025), with all bookings made via Priceline. The hotel stay was at Renaissance by Marriott Montreal Downtown, fully prepaid. Due to severe weather in Chicago, my return flight from a business trip on July 16 was canceled. I’ve been stuck in New York since, unable to return to Chicago or make our trip to Montreal. We informed both Priceline and Marriott in advance and provided documentation of the airline cancellation. Both parties refused to refund or even offer a credit for the $700 booking — despite the fact that the hotel stay was never used, and circumstances were entirely out of our control. I’m a Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite member and a VIP Gold member with Priceline, having booked exclusively with them for years. That status meant absolutely nothing in this situation. No flexibility, no customer-first thinking — just a flat "no" from both companies. Very disappointed by both Marriott and Priceline. This wasn’t just about a hotel room — it was about a missed memory, and they showed no empathy or accountability. Never again.

- bgabernathy (6/5): Great property but bad service - The hotel property was lovely. Modern and clean. Easy access to the business area, great access to McGill, and not too far from the Old Port. Unfortunately, from the outset, service was subpar. When we pulled into the valet zone, there was never an offer to valet the car. Front desk staff was brusque, at best. They never sent someone to help with the pull out bed. Service in the restaurant for breakfast was generally poor and slow. When our room was clean, it was obvious that it hadn't been fully vacuumed (there were still crumbs on the floor). While nothing was horrendous, nothing was good.

- Xinyi (2/5): - 1. Shower malfunction: The water temperature in the shower could not be adjusted. A staff member came to inspect and confirmed that the shower was damaged and could not be repaired promptly. As a result, we had to pack our luggage and move to Room 1102 at midnight, which was highly disruptive and negatively impacted our experience. 2. Leftover tray: Upon entering Room 706, we found a tray with leftover food from a previous guest left outside the door, blocking our way into the room. Even after returning around 9:00 PM, the tray had not been removed. We had to call the front desk to have it taken away. 3. Room maintenance issues: One of the charging outlets in Room 706 was not functioning, and the light in front of the mirror was also broken. 4. No communication from the hotel: We were also told that a supervisor would follow up with us the next day to discuss compensation. Unfortunately, we received no follow-up — neither by phone, email, nor in person — during the remainder of our stay. When we checked out on June 30, we mentioned this again to the front desk and asked why no supervisor had contacted us. The staff member at checkout said she would leave another note and that the supervisor would be in at 1:00 PM and follow up with us after that. However, we still have not received any communication. We also sent an email (see attached) to the front desk supervisor, who has not replied since.

- Verified traveler (4/5): - Hello. I wanted to provide some feedback about my trip this weekend and stay at Renaissance Montreal Downtown Hotel. On June 21, 2025 while trying to nap in my hotel room, the television automatically turned on and was extremely loud at around 430pm. I confirmed that this also happened to a friend who was staying at the property, and also woke him up. I'd like to suggest that housekeeping mute the volume on the TVs so this does not happen in the future. Following this, once I fell back asleep, a staff member knocked on my door DESPITE having the Do Not Disturb sign on my door handle. This was to inform me that the hotel would not have power that night from 12am to 6am and I was provided a glow stick. Also, the room was extremely hot because of the power outage and disrupted my sleep, and my phone did not charge overnight. I have never had to complain in the past about staying at a Marriott property in the past, but considering the poor service on this occasion, I would appreciate some sort of compensation. - ali (10/5): - The hotel is in a nice and safe location in downtown Montreal, and very close to some of the attractions. Lots of cafes and restaurants are nearby. Check-in was quick and the staff is very professional. The corner loft room was spacious with a nice sized bathroom. My only negative feedback would be - 1. Not enough drawers in the room 2. Netflix was very slow and had a delay in loading or didn't load subtitles at all 3. The window curtains are not motorized and it is not always convenient to open/close the curtains especially behind the TV console.

Air con constantly going on and off and noisy. Shower was dripping on arrival and fire alarm went off on one night of stay- a bit chaotic.
- David (6/5): - I felt this property has slipped since I was there last. Not as clean and staff not as helpful. I also told them I smelled cigarette smoke coming out of the vents in my room thru the night. I have stayed many times there but will be moving on my next trip to somewhere else.
