- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice Jome Vacation - There is a lot of dust under the beds. They should sweep or use a robot vacuum cleaner. The room inside needs to be renovated. They should have free breakfast because it's outside the city.

Only disappointing part was that there isn't a restaurant there or a bigger assortment of breakfast food. The little coffee cart was cute and fit the ambiance. Would be perfect if you need to get away and decompress or for a wedding. for a getawayWill definitely visit again.

- Andrew (10/5): Bandy is a hidden gem that will only get better - We spent our spring break at Bandy Canyon Ranch. It was wonderful! Our family (Dad, Mom, 2 young kids) stayed in the Peacock Cottage. It's recently been renovated and was very comfortable. A quick note: BCR got new owners a few years back, and they're actively investing in the property. They're going through each cottage to upgrade/renovate it. (One was actively being worked on while we were there.) The same is true of the grounds. Our kids loved the pool area. The grounds were fun and *beautiful*, full of plants and birds. They also have a playground area and games for kids to play. We loved our time, but also could see it's going to be even better when the upgrades are finished. BCR doesn't have a restaurant on site. They offer several boxed meal/treat options (breakfast, snacks, charcuterie, treats, etc). On weekends, they have a pizza oven, and they'll prepare some great 12" pies, made to order. (Delicious.) They also had a movie night on one of their lawns, but it was past our kids' bedtimes. BCR is a short drive from the Safari Park, and it's a perfect option if you're going there. We will most certainly be back, with the intention of traveling with a few other families, as this is a great, intimate spot to travel with a group of friends/family. (I'm betting this will end up being a desirable wedding venue too.). Last thing: they have an animal sanctuary on site that our kiddos were delighted by. 5 stars.
- christine (2/5): - Management would not let me view the property beforehand. The spa was broken, which was one of the main reasons we wanted to go there. The two bedroom was really a one bedroom and a living room with a bed in it. There were not enough coffee cups for the four of us. We could not feed the animals. Everything was no no and no. Would not recommend it and will never go back. When I complained they would not respond.

- Evelyn (2/5): - If you love paying an arm and leg for mediocrity this is the place for you. Do yourself a favor and stay at Rancho Bernardo instead. Bandy Canyon says they’re pet friendly but you’ll have to fork up $100 for the pet fee. I’ve stayed at Rancho Bernardo with my pet who is an emotional support dog and the fee wasn’t $100, that’s absolutely ludicrous. Not to mention there is no wiggle room for checking in early. Also, when turning on the water to shower it smells like rotten eggs and the sink water comes out black. The staff is not helpful let alone friendly or on time to open the office to check out. Again, do yourself a favor and stay anywhere else.

- Sandra (2/5): - The cabins were nice, but the grounds had not been maintained, the creek that was once beautiful and lively with ducks and fish,was dried up with moss and mold. The hot tub was drained. The check in person at the front desk, however, was super nice and apologetic. We left the property as we did not want to stay.
- Rachel (10/5): - Bandy Canyon is such a hidden gem. When you’re there, it feels like time stopped and you’re in a totally different world. The staff are very friendly & they provide great amenities including yummy snacks!
- Dawn (10/5): - I stayed at the Sparrow Cottage for a weekend in December. There was a little hiccup with the gate code, so I’m glad I arrived while the office was still open. Everything else was great - very clean and comfortable cottage, great welcome/breakfast basket, a really useful suite of appliances for toast and coffee. On the ground lots of space for kids to play and run (sports goals, chess, lawn games). Very quiet at night and home to great horned owls! It was absolutely lovely and I would definitely stay there again. (Note, friends were staying at another cottage and their water was rather sulfurous smelling, but the water in the Sparrow cottage had none of that - it tasted and smelled great.)
- Justin (4/5): - The facility is due to a remodel. Shower door doesn’t close all the way so the bathroom floor floods when shower was used. Requested for a maintenance repair, but it didn’t get fixed and we did not hear back from anyone. The property uses well water that has high sulfur concentration so when hot water is turned on the entire room will smell like rotten eggs. The environment is nice and quiet and feels safe.

Very well taken care of. everything looked green and serene. the only thing they can add is to have some sort of food service since it is out of nowhere. Also we couldn't get any information on hiking trails around the Ranch.

We walked around the ranch and it was very peaceful and quiet. Our cottage was modern and very clean. We will definitely come back with family and friends.

- Tammy (10/5): So good, I don’t want to share! - Our cottage (Kestrel) was a compact, but efficient space. Incredibly clean and serene. The grounds are gorgeous. Highly recommend the sanctuary tour, the pig walk, and bringing your bathing suit, closed toed shoes, and some marshmallows and sticks to enjoy everything!

- Marie Grace (10/5): - This place is a hidden gem. It feels like you're in a forest and staying in a cabin. In the morning, you can hear the birds, and at night, you can hear the frogs and owls. They have an animal sanctuary you can tour, which is great because it teaches the kids the history of the animals and how they were rescued. The staff is super friendly and attentive. We enjoyed the fire pit with the smores, the big playground area for the kids, and the jacuzzi with the cabanas. The kids can run and play in big grassy areas during the day, and the game room has a big projector and couches where you can relax and watch TV. We are coming back this summer.
- Jacob (10/5): This is Paradise. - The staff really cared about making sure we had a wonderful time and the grounds were absolutely like paradise. We didn't want to leave.. it's a hidden gem and a gorgeous canyon that is lush. The rooms are very clean and the air is fresh. It's the time of year the windows were open before we arrived. The cabins are so cozy.
- Eleanor (8/5): - Great property to relax and enjoy nature. The cabins were well appointed for the most part. Our cabin was updated and well decorated except the bathroom. It had old 1970s cabinetry and shower. The shower head was rusted and small. Since our stay was brief, it wasn’t a big deal, but would’ve preferred a fully updated cabin for a longer stay. The breakfast basket is such a nice touch especially since grocery is a little far. The staff is helpful and welcoming. Inspite of the rain, the staff still made Easter fun for the kids. Kudos to the young lady who gave us a tour of the animal sanctuary. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. This is a great place for a family getaway!

- Farooque (10/5): - Just got back from an overnight stay at the cottage. Beautiful area, surroundings among nature. The cottage was warm and comfy, and clean. We had a balcony to ourselves and ample space for the 2 of us. However, when it came to dinner time, the restaurant on site was CLOSED. We looked up numerous "nearby" places but none would deliver due to the resort either being too far away or closed for christmas holiday.NO FOOD DELIVERY available to this resort! We called reception who was very nice and gave us the gate number to allow any deliveries in however it was fruitless as nothing was available nearby. We also had an issue with the AC but the receptionist was very helpful and came immediately to help us out. Hubby and I ending up eating from the breakfast basket for dinner. This basket was provided to us at check in (around 3pm the day before). This could be due to the christmas holiday but make sure to see if the on site restaurant is available before you go or you will lack any dining experiences from being at this resort. I wish i had packed food from home or gotten it otw to the resort to store in the fridge. Overall a well recommended place & a would stay again!

- Ellen (10/5): - The Ranch at Bandy Canyon is a gem! Driving through the gates and down the rose lined driveway immediately put us in vacation mode. Kate was friendly and informative checking us in. Our room was clean and had everything we needed. The grounds are beautiful! We enjoyed walking over the bridges, watching the Koi fish and exploring the many lawn games. Renting a cabana by the pool was a perfect start to a relaxing getaway. We are definitely coming back!

- Jolie (10/5): - This place was absolutely beautiful -- the perfect peaceful destination for us to get away from the fast-paced city life. The staff was very friendly, the pool area is awesome, the property is green and quiet and nestled up against a beautiful canyon mountain, and it's quite close to the San Diego Safari Park. We stayed in a small cabin with our toddler and baby, spent a day a the Safari Park, and it was great. Aside from a few ants here and there inside the cabin (can't expect otherwise, honestly, in a mountain cabin -- just keep your food out of reach and it's not an issue), we didn't have any complaints and recommend this destination to anyone wanting a peaceful escape in Southern California. It's a calming alternative to a traditional hotel.

My wife and I were annoyed that we only booked this for one night; it had a perfect setup for our family and I wish we had stayed there longer. The property is simply beautiful. Gardens are everywhere, it's very calm and beautiful in the evening. During the day, the kids enjoyed the heck out of the pool. The whole property is filled with grilling and relaxation spots. We had a great dinner, relaxing into the evening and making our own food. It's just perfect.

From the gal who checked us in, to the horse caretaker, even the workers builing a rock wall near our cabin, they were all so nice. They have put so much work into this place. It is such a nice relaxing atmosphere. I can't wait to visit again! Thank you for the stay, I wish we would have been able to stay more than one night.

- Christine (8/5): Comfy Cabins in Beautiful but Very Remote Setting - This property provides a lovely setting for a relaxing and refreshing getaway, and the cabins are comfortable and well-appointed. It is very remote, which is good if you want peace and quiet but bad if you want easy access to conveniences such as restaurants and grocery stores (of which there are none within 15 minutes of this place). The facility seemed a little short-staffed, which is common to a lot of places these days. Also, the A/C unit in our cabin seemed permanently set to 75 degrees, and we couldn't alter it, which was problematic given the very high temperatures during our stay. The staff's solution to this dilemma was to provide a fan. While this was helpful, cooler A/C would've been much better. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and plan to return, though perhaps during a more temperate season.
