• xaviermJ8772PU (2/5): Beautiful stay ruined by the driver - Last month I stayed with my husband in your little gem Shanima and we took an Atlas excursion where I bought 3 rugs that I shipped home and as luck would have it today I realize that I was scammed out of €3,000 since I paid €3,900 for rugs that cost €300 at a Moroccan here and I realized why our driver Hicham insisted that we stop at his friend's house for the rugs too we recommend not saying anything to the riad in short I looked for the name of the agency that gave it to me but I forgot it for that I write on the page of the associated riad

• chappers56 (10/5): Delightful Riad in an ideal spot - Lovely 11-bedroom Riad located on the western side of the Medina. Individual rooms, nice public areas, small pool in the middle and relaxing roof terrace above. Superb staff who welcomed us from the off and were helpful throughout. Make sure you call them when you are at the airport and the taxi will drop you off nearby. You’ll never find it but my images may help you find the entrance to the alley, keep going, through the tunnel and your nearly there... Easy walking distance of the main square, markets attractions and restaurants, all around 10 minutes if you don’t get lost. An ESim is a must as is Google maps!

Enjoyed the experience of staying inside the Medina . Need to be mobile , steps and need to walk inside alley ways . Taxi cannot get you to door. However the staff meet you to take luggage .
• Dorothy (6/5): - Super clean. Beautifully decorated with traditional Moroccan decor but with modern amenities. Our room size was abundant. The beds were comfortable. Our room was noisy bc the room we had had a lot of glass. Staff were very accommodating and hospitable. We had a driver waiting for us from the airport that was organized through the riad and they were fantastic. They waited for us a really long time for us to pass through security and customs. The included breakfasts were ok. Very basic continental breakfast. No eggs unless you order them and pay for it. The pool was nice for quick dip to cool off in (not heated) 2 nights is more than enough time to stay in the Medina. If you are looking for a Riad experience inside the Medina, I would recommend them.

• Maria (10/5): - When first contacting the property Asma arranged everything to ensure our proper arrival, she followed through from arrival, since the driver could only come through the road and there is little side walk she arranged for hotel staff to meet us. Adil was happily waiting for us, he was very kind throughout our stay and we were little sad we did not get a chance to say bye. Jalil was also amazing a very helpful, the whole staff gave us tips on how to have an enjoyable trip, safety tips since it was only me and my sister. We regretted having two bookings since would have loved to stay there for longer. It’s quiet and you really get to experience The true genuine of Moroccan culture, the staff goes above and beyond to ensure it. We will truly recommend anyone looking for a genuine and true family type of stay to book them. Place was impeccable clean, food delicious and fresh. The whole place decor is top notched. We pre booked a second stay with another location after this and Asma ensured we were shuttled properly with the second stay and someone could greet us since many Riads within the medina require walking, she arranged everything between driver and second Riad, even though she did not have to. In comparison with a 5 star Riad (Second booking) we cab truly say it’s not close to the service provided by this property, we felt they truly cared for us and we can see the difference with service. Do not think twice book this.

• shahidai2024 (10/5): Beautiful relaxing riad - This riad is serene and very relaxing. It has a beautiful ambience and is very well kept. Super clean and very attentive staff. Nothing is too much for them and they happily make your stay one to cherish. We were collected from the airport and on arrival to the riad we were served delicious mint tea with moroccan pastries. It’s a short 10-15 mins walk to jemma el fnaa - the main square. On arrival Jalil kindly gave us a local map and talked us through various attractions we could visit and how to get there. Jalil helped us alot during our stay and deserves a special shout out. Breakfast was simple but delicious with a variation each day. Our suite came with a private terrace and jacuzzi. It was a bit dark in our suite as it had 2 windows which both face internally into the road itself. One was very high up and was covered. It would have been nice to have natural sunlight, though this did not detract from any enjoyment. The riad is in a very quiet area with small alleys in which you could easily get lost, so it is advisable to use google maps until you get your bearings. We were fine by days 2/3. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay a very memorable one!
• MyJulieTKA (10/5): Riad Shanima, Marrakech - Riad Shanima, Marrakech The staff at the Riad are super helpful, attentive and friendly and between them speak Arabic French and English. Airport transfers were arranged for us. The Riad is beautiful and serene and very secure and safe and is located in the Medina. After the first day we found our bearings and it was easy to get to the square and souks. We had a deluxe room which was comfortable for the 3 of us. It also comes with a private terrace and jacuzzi! The only thing the room lacked was a full length mirror in the bedroom as the 3 of us ladies had to take turns in using the bathroom mirror in the mornings to get ready. Breakfast is simple but sufficient to set you up for the day. The fresh orange juice and home made yogurt were a delight! There is a variation in the breakfast every day. Overall we enjoyed our stay!

• Akhidenor (10/5): Relaxed Serene Riad Shanima - Riad Shanima in the alleyway of Arset Aouzal by Royal Palace “Dar Moha” is in the northwest of o Old Medina Marrakesh. Stayed several nights - each was better than the previous. Jalil well spoken in English and the other French speaking gentleman very good too. Same faces every day same cleaner same manager called Asma I think . Rooms are spacious and very clean - were cleaned daily. Breakfast: warm breads Moroccan, French and brown served and kept warm in tagines. Requested a fruit and extra warm milk or hot coffee and was offered without hesitation. Daily squeezed fresh orange juice, honey homemade jams and once had eggs as well. A family atmosphere, a riad strongly built - withstood the 6.8 richter earthquake on Thursday 7 Sep 2023- thick walls & no cracks. all guests stayed in the centre courtyard nobody ventured out on the soot ridden alleyways due to some debris- we all felt safe in this riad. Jalil 2am -3h later gave out cold bottles of water to all of us despite his concern of the health of his family - humanity and hospitality in its best. We thank you. Will be back again. Highly recommend this Riad.

I would often go for a swim then have a drink on the rooftop patio every evening before dinner. The rooms are very nice and clean. Lovely breakfast and great coffee.

• Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect Stay! - We had the loveliest time! We were greeted with hot mint tea and cookies when we arrived. Every member of the staff was so genuinely kind and helpful. We were able to arrange dinner, taxi, tours and even a camel ride through the Riad after we arrived. They were so helpful and everything was much better priced than what we had found online. Our room was clean and lovely. We enjoyed reading on the terrace upstairs and our room was quiet and relaxing.

• Verified traveler (4/5): - Je n'ai malheureusement pas pu aller dans ce riad car il était complet. Annulation de ma réservation auprès de cette établissement deux heures avant mon départ de Lyon. La directrice du Riad Shanima m'a prétexté un problème informatique. Cette personne m'a trouvé un autre Riad à coté du sien le RIAD AGAPE avec des prestations moins biens et avec une personne qui s'occupe du riad qui ne loge pas sur place (obligatoire à Marrakech), l'absence de client (bizarre alors que tous les riads affichent complets pendant cette période des vacances), aucun document interne au riad pour informer la police marocaine ne nous a été demandés (également obligatoire au Maroc) notre chambre NE FERMAIT PAS A CLEF et ou le ménage n'a pas été fait En bref, nous étions seule avec ma fille dans un riad avec six chambres, sans sécurité, sans client et sans personnel durant la journée et la nuit. JE NE VOUS RECOMMANDE PAS LE RIAD AGAPE De ce fait, j'ai du trouver un autre Riad par moi même et le payer pour la nuit suivante car ni la directrice du Shanima ni expédia n'ont pu me trouver une solution de rechange!!! Je vous recommande le BLISS SPA les prestations sont meilleures que le Shanima spa et moins onéreuses à cette période de l'année (75 euros avec le déjeuner). Du fait de mon insistance auprès de expédia la directrice m'a trouvé un autre riad, le Riad Excellence que je recommande la directrice est très professionnelle et charmante et le Riad tout à fait correct.

Je tiens à préciser que nous n’avons complète aucun document interne au Riad Agape (formalité obligatoire à l entrée) pour la police marocaine De ce fait j ai du trouver un Riad moi même pour la nuit suivante car personne n a pu me trouver une solution de rechange pour la nuit suivante (expédia et le raid Shanima )tous les autres riads étaient complets biensur sauf celui de AGAPE , bizarre La directrice du Shanima m à enfin trouve un autre Riad pour les nuits suivantes vu mon insistance auprès de expédia le Riad excellence que je recommande fortement car la directrice est professionnelle et charmante et le riad tout à fait correct Je tiens à préciser que je me suis rendue deux fois au Riad shamima pour m entretenir avec la directrice mais malheureusement elle n’était pas la Les riads que m a propose la directrice du Shanima étaien dessus des prestations du sien et qu aucun dédommagement ne pas été proposé par cette personne
• Rita (10/5): Fuga dallo stress - Riad molto curato e pulito. Personale attento, disponibile e gentile. Ottima posizione nella Medina però lontana dal caos della piazza e souk a 10 minuti di piedi. Camere pulite e raffinate con ogni confort. Patio dall'atmosfera paradisiaco. Bel terrazzo. Colazione discreta, cena ottima. Hamman piccolo. Consigliatissimo.
• Madiara (8/5): Sweet little Riad - Staff was perfect. Room was on the small side, but perfectly clean. Bathroom was huge. Breakfast was not impressive. Overall, great Riad, well located with AMAZING staff.

• Nicholas (10/5): The Best Riad in Marrakech - The friendliest, hardest working staff I have ever encountered during my travels. Their superb customer service was second to none. They provided us with transportation to and from the airport and had tea and delicious Moroccan patties for us upon arrival. They also helped us plan a dinner before we arrived and after we were shown around the Riad and settled into our rooms the had a wonderful meal waiting for us. Every person who worked there made you feel at home and always greeted you with a smile. It has a very great central location and is a short walk from all of the major attractions hat Marrakech has to offer. I wish I could give this place 100 stars instead of just 5 because the service and riad was wonderful.
• Roy (8/5): Riad Shanima - Riad Shanima was ok ..... Very difficult to find initially after my first venture out but eventually sussed out local landmarks to help me .... Would say overall it was ok but my main problem was the very soft mattress on bed, small shower area & useless TV which was a nightmare to work and always had to get assistance plus breakfast was very predictable every day and limited choice

• Lindsay (6/5): Great Riad until they moved us... - The Riad itself is absolutely wonderful.I would give this Riad 5 stars except that we didn't actually end up staying there except for our first night. After unpacking and settling in for our 4 day stay, we were told that they had "overbooked" and that we were being moved to another Riad. Besides being an inconvenience, the other Riad was not near as nice as this one. We went from a 4 star Riad to a 3 star Riad. Sophie was wonderful at our second Riad, so that made up for the lack of the star but I must admit that is the first time in all my travels that I have been required to change hotels. We were given a hamam for free (approx $20 service) but I would happily have paid the $20 to stay in the original room we were placed in. I would still recommend this Riad, but I would be mindful that there is a chance you could get moved and for that reason, I would be reluctant to stay there again.
• Verified traveler (10/5): - Property was very clean and amenities were modern, specially bathrooms. Great breakfast, best fresh OJ. The staff were exceptionallly kind and very helpful with all my questions from direction to recommendation on activities to on how to haggle for cab prices.
• Jay (8/5): - Charlie was very nice and helpful. There was one woman who spoke better English and she was very nice too. The rooms were extremely clean and the bathroom was very spacious. We felt safe and comfortable and it was very close to The Square in the Medina, which made it convenient. If you’re looking for something more upscale and “instagramable” this probably isn’t it but we loved making Shanima our home base. Charlie and the staff were very hospitable.
• najma (10/5): Home from home - I stayed with 3 children + husband at Shanima for 5 nights. I can not fault the Riad or the staff. The decor was impeccable and stylish. Adil, Elham, Jalil and Asma couldn’t have been more welcoming and hospitable. Nothing was too difficult for them. Food was very nice too. Finding the riad was a little challenging for our taxi driver, as the Riad is in a maze of narrow alleys that cars are unable to navigate. I would recommend the ourika valley tour arranged for us by the Riad, but the half day tour of Marrakesh was a little disappointing as there was no information about the sites we visited. I would highly recommend the Shanima Riad to my friends.
• Tori (10/5): - Very prompt in answering messages. The bathroom was so big though the room was small but good for me. I love the bed and beddings and I had good rest - and I am picky about bed. When you closed the curtains, it was dark and good for sleeping. I didn’t get to interact with many staff but mostly the older night guy who was super nice. Finding the place is a little tricky and I had to enlist the help of some kid. The kid was nice but the other older one who followed him was a little demanding but you have to be firmed. In any case, there was no sign in the narrow street leading to it. But when you see heritage spa, then go into that lane and walk all the way till the end (like one block) and make a left. Go under some building Nd it’s at the end of that street on your left hand side. It might looked a little scary if you are not used to the lanes but there is a security guy within steps after the heritage spa and I didn’t feel unsafe butbkust unfamilar at the ending. Worth a try.

• Louise (10/5): Real Riad Experience - I wish we could have stayed longer! Ashma and her staff could not have done more to make us feel welcome. The riad was beautiful with a lovely terrace on roof. It was small so to me gave a really feeling of a small intimate riad. Would definitely recommend.

The room was spotless, nicely decorated and comfortable. I would highly recommend this Riad if you want a real tast of local tradition. • Ane (10/5): Lovely Riad in busy Marrakech - My husband and I stayed for 4 nights at this Riad and I couldn't have been happier with my choice. As everyone has mentioned the staff Adil, Asma, Hayat and the others were very helpful and pleasant. The Riad is spotlessly clean and peaceful and has its own little charm. Our room (L'orangier) was always spotless and the bathroom was beautiful. I really loved the shower gels and I was able to buy some from the Riad's boutique when we were leaving. I used the Hammam and massage package at the Riad which Apart from it being one of the most affordable in Marrakech, it was really good as well. I slept like a baby afterwards. Asma helped us print our boarding passes and let us check out of our room a lot later than we should have checked out without charging us a penny. I always looked forward to breakfast and the orange oil scented youghurt :). Last thing, the Riad is close enough to the city centre and souks. It was easy getting around
• Sarah (10/5): Fabulous hotel in a great location - The Riad Shanima and Spa was lovely. From the welcome we received to the breakfast and the comfortable rooms, it couldn't be faulted. We wouldn't recommend going to Marrakech but would definitely return to this hotel if it wasn't in this city! The staff are so friendly and helpful, they couldn't be faulted. The rooms and public areas are very clean and well decorated, breakfast was lovely with fresh pancakes, bread, croissants, fruit etc every morning. The roof top terrace is a bonus. Would absolutely recommend this hotel if you want to visit Marrakech.

• Mariaeme (8/5): Nice Riad, good location, kindness staff - If you're planning to stay in the Medina, this Riad is well located close enough to walk to Plaza Jemma El Fna, Gueliz, Historical places (palaces, tombs, mosque), some restaurants for food (5 euros). Close to street with local market for fruits, snacks, craft handed objects, souvenirs. You can return walking in the night. Nice staff, kindness, they walk with you from the main street to the riad because is inside a group of labyrinth streets, that are typical in the medina (very charm but for a tourist at the first sight it's a little bit complicated). Riad is modern, clean, warm decoration with occidental touch.
• Barbara (10/5): Lovely Riad Experience - Lovely Riad with the USP...their staff. Asma, Adil and the team go far beyond expectation, always smiling and friendly and nothing is to much trouble. Transfers, tours, meals of your choice and a very nice continental style breakfast each morning. Our room had it's own outside space and terrace which we loved. We will definitely return

• Mike (6/5): Almost Great but Let Down by Important Details - First the good - This Riad is beautiful and (except as noted below) great value, an interesting hybrid between traditional and modern design. Breakfast and dinner on the terrace was incredible and the service by the dedicated staff was always better than we could ever expect. We were very well looked after by Adil, one of the most delightful men we met during our Morocco trip. However, the bad - Firstly, as it we were staying here for our last 2 nights in Morocco, which involved much re-packing of suitcases and shopping for our flight home, we intentionally booked the "Luxury Suite (Palmier)", which was advertised as being 30 Sq M. The room was tiny - 24 Sq M (including thick internal walls and an oversize bathroom - yes, I measured it). Falsely advertising like this is unforgiveable. Secondly, as we had our belongings unpacked everywhere, we instructed that there was to be no room cleaning on our 2nd day (very explicitly requested and confirmed clearly by Ashma, there was absolutely NO miscommunication). When we returned after a day of sightseeing, we were very disappointed to find our room cleaned and made, and our belongings all reorganized in the process. If not for these two issues, this Riad would have scored a 5.
• Suzana (10/5): Gracious Riad - We really enjoyed our stay at the charming Riad. Adil and Aasmaa were very gracious and welcoming. Everything was comfortable and clean and the service was professional. Adil was even kind enough to carry our luggage out to us and ran after me to give me my blouses that I left hanging in the closet. Overall, very pleasant and I would return again.
• Camila (10/5): Beautiful place in the heart of Marrakech - The Riad was beautiful, the staff amazing, always smiling and trying to help us the best they could. The breakfast was good to. The location felt really safe. Would definitely go back there again.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Overall, a great place - The staff made it excellent! Great people, caring, nice and helpful. The only bad thing was that the towels need to be replaced as they had a weird stench to them, but I'm sure they will address this as it's a quick, easy fix.
• marcia (8/5): Lovely Riad - Beautiful Riad with very hospitable staff. We had a lovely stay and will be back again. Make sure you get the airport transfer as the staff then come out to meet you as well and unless you knew where you were going you would never find the place.
