- Tristan (9/5): Fantastic accommodation and unique location - Great location and very helpful staff. Restaurant Food was poor

- Leire (9/5): -
- Richard (9/5): - The grounds are extensive, with raised walking paths, surrounded by lush growth, home to many species. A wonderful location to forest bathe along the river and canals. The staff was top notch, courteous, helpful and knowledgeable.
- Frederic (8/5): - Nice location with a pool. Easy to use the free boat shuttle at the provided times. Very friendly and helpful personal Breakfast, and mainly dinner (which is a buffet) not of very high quality
- els (6/5): - Location is amazing, we had a very large room with large bathroom, breakfast was nice with freshly cooked eggs etc, plenty of choice, the surrounding gardens and lounge area was beautifull and very well kept We knew it had no Windows and I was looking forward to hearing the sound of the animals in the Forest. But unfortunately all we heard was the engines of the boats going up and down the Canal, people arriving with suitcases rolling over the pavement, the conversations of people arriving at all hours of night ... And the water of the gutter of the roof falling like a stream on the pavement, it's was like a tap leaking, good thing we don't have a weak bladder. And we visited in the dry season. We didnt hear any monkeys or birds. I would definitely prefer a room in a hotel with windows next time so I can leave them open but have the opportunity to close when disturbing. We also had the light of the path shining straight into our room and there are no blackout curtains (rooms 29 and 30 are apparently thé largest but ask a room at the back).
- Kevin (8/5): A great location - in nature - Being in the jungle and close to the water. The bar area where we could watch the action on the water. The spa facilities were fantastic. The reception staff are exceptional and most helpful. No coffee making facilities or hair drier in the rooms.
- Lani (9/5): Truly enjoyable jungle experience — highly recommend! - Unique hotel in a unique location! We loved our little cabin & it was very comfortable. Food was very good, & enough variety to satisfy us. Staff were super friendly & helpful. We did 2 tours from the hotel & thought both were well worth the cost. Out favorite spot was the bar at the river’s edge where we could watch the sunset & the boat traffic with a glass of wine. They warn you not to drink the water — it’s smelly. A bit of a hassle to refill water bottles from the lobby or dining area each day, but not a big deal. It’s very family-oriented, so the pool is usually full with kids yelling & racing about.
- Robert (10/5): Wonderful stay in the heart of the jungle. - Breakfast was great. Fruit, cereal, cooked option, omelette made to order. Brilliant. All great.
- Daniele (10/5): -
- Rishi (8/5): Great staff and good location - The staff were amazing. Really helpful and arranged everything we needed. The breakfast was excellent and they arranged for us to have it early before we left as we were leaving before normal service.
Rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Thin walls and no windows (just fixed mesh). Quite noisy at times. Not a problem from the jungle/natural noises, but people were quite loud. Quite a large group of students and an American tour arrived, and while they weren't being intentionally loud, the amount of people meant more noise. Also leaf blowers quite early on.
There weren't any wildlife walks around the lodges which was a shame, although we did see some things.

- Nicole (8/5): - Beautiful setting, we loved the cottages nestled in the middle of the rainforest. Falling asleep to the sounds of animals was a truly special experience. Nice pool area. Unfortunately, the toilet was blocked and we had to ask for assistance three times before the issue was addressed.
The restaurant has room for improvement, and while the area is clean, it feels rather cold and not very cozy. Dining there felt more like being in a canteen than a welcoming restaurant atmosphere.
- M.Carmen (10/5): -
- Bas (8/5): -
- Luisa (9/5): Eine besonderes Erlebnis - Eine wirklich besondere Unterkunft.
Insgesamt etwas Tourist Trap Feeling leider.
- Christian (8/5): - Schöne Anlage mitten im Jungel
- Randy (10/5): -
- Forestier (7/5): Amazing experience in the wild but a bit roots as an hotel - Beautiful experience if nature in a wild environment The rooms are really basic with no window and a lot of proximity and the food is terrible. The service is not always great as they have an office far from the hotel taking the calls but the staff is not always following up properly.
- Analí (8/5): Fantastic! - The sounds of the nature that we could hear. The service at the restaurant.
Resort is erg mooi.
- Kerry (8/5): -
- Ben (10/5): -
- Christian (8/5): Abgelegene Lodge in der Natur - Offene Bungalows ohne Fenster - nur Moskitonetze; daher sehr naturnah!
Essen nur Mittelmaß! Schöner Pool!
- James (8/5): Nice place - Great location, very nice facility. The only issue is that grounds keeper runs the leaf blower at 7 am and house keeping wants to make your bed at 8 am. Sleeping in and or having a quiet slow morning is impossible here.
- Nathalie (9/5): Superb -
- Robert (8/5): Very good value for money - VERY helpful friendly reception staff. also waiters. Also swimming pool.
- Sibo (6/5): Pleasant - We didn't feel really welcomed with my wife and our two children of 9 and 14 years old. Our children have a very small appetite so we asked to consider both as one person to charge for the lunch as none of our children would eat half of menu (20$ per person irrespective of the age). They simply refused arguing that the system is not configured to allow this change.
To be noted that ee booked the following nights in Aninga and Pachira lodges. In Pachira lodges the same lunch is 15% lower (17$ per person) and they accepted immediately and without any discussion that arrangement.
Furthermore Evergreen lodge was literally on swamps, very humid and didn't smell good at all. We were very happy that we booked in different places because I can ensure that we wouldn't have stayed there any longer than one night.
- Anthony (8/5): - Great service and great staff
- Kevin (8/5): Great location for wildlife and great staff especially Kenton - Location was great for wildlife Sewerage smell on last day but then they had been flooded with storm
- Ula (8/5): Good value for money, great home-cooked food and helpful staff. - The buffet dinner and breakfast were the best thing about the hotel - home-cooked Costa Rican food, healthy and wholesome.
The staff were all pleasant and helpful, and made a special effort to offer us vegetarian meals. The room / chalet was a bit dark and dank because it was on stilts in a rainforest swamp. Having to get a river taxi boat from the main Tortuguero dock to reach the hotel was a little inconvenient, eg the first boat taxi you can get from the hotel is at 5am, which meant we missed the migration of hatched turtles into the sea.
- Richeux (9/5): Superb -
- Glnl (8/5): Really cool stay in the middle of the nature - Nice "jungle cabins" on well maintained grounds in the middle of the nature. Kind and helpful employees with our questions on excursions and taxi boats. The big pool (with pool bar) is a nice extra if you want to relax a bit. The additional bars on the river bank are also nice features. Don't expect too much choice for dinner, but the food is good.
- Pedro (8/5): Very good -
- Don (9/5): Wonderful week - Location and facilities were great. Staff exceptional Lots of wildlife right on property
- Stephanie (10/5): Gorgeous place in a forest, friendly staff -
- Ana (9/5): Superb -
- Stephanie (2/5): - The worst experience in Costa Rica. Service nul. Food ridiculous, no choice, horrible. Room without window, smell bad, activity with over price. Swimming pool not clean. Never again
- Tomás (10/5): - No
- Vaughan (10/5): Great jungle stay. Thank you. X - Receptions very helpful in booking trips, organising boats, booking lunch etc. place fantastic, saw monkeys on walkways around our rooms and around pool area and other wildlife. Umbrellas provided, which was needed. Needed to wear our mosquito spray but you are in the jungle after all.
- Vanessa (4/5): - Pros: lots of wildlife, kind and helpful tour guides and restaurant staff.
Cons: Our bed fell apart while we were sleeping, not a great way to wake up.
- Emma (7/5): Great location, pretty cabins, boomy noisy. - Location was good a pretty resort. Very noisy as only net on the windows and our room was close to kitchen where staff started working loudly at 4.30am. Very noisy frog life.
- Carlos (9/5): We loved it and would definitely come meback. - The staff. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
The people from the restaurant and the cleaning lady were very helpful.
We really like everything. The humidity. But we were in the middle of the rain Forrest.
Maybe AC
- Elisabeth (8/5): Very good -
- Ulrike (9/5): Enjoyed! - All of those working people were extremely kind and cool except the lady at the reception. I had a small problem and she was not willing to help me.
Nature! The opening times for the pool were not made for the guests. 9AM-9PM. What about 7am-7pm? It would fit to those restaurant times.
We wanted to use the pool at 9 am. Unfortunately it was not prepared till 10 am.
I’m not sure whether the name Evergreen is right. They spread repellents and the cleaning water from the rooms were put into nature.
- Jennifer (10/5): - The staff was AMAZING and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and happy!
- Michel (10/5): Tortuguero Evergreen - - the location of the bungalow in the jungle;
- the interior of the bungalow;
- the reception staff which was so nice and so supportive. We are a French couple traveling by ourselves. We had only booked the room, with no service.
The reception staff has organised everything for us, and very sympatically.
- the guide, Fernando, of our boat tour, very interesting and very supportive
- the lunches and diners, which are simple, but very good and very healthy. We liked everything.
- Lauren (5/5): Book elsewhere. - It’s a quick 5 minute boat into the town.
Buddha cafe has a lovely menu and great views of the river… I’d definitely recommend eating here over the hotel.
Has trips available which are very good. If you’re after a real outdoorsy experience then this may be for you.
Instead of did glass for windows it is just meshing. Not ideal when it’s raining. It’s impossible to keep anything dry, the bedsheets bath towels, clothing etc all damp.
First big red flag was being warned not to take any food at all into your room because of the monkeys. I love monkeys, but if they can break into your room for food then a human can get in twice as easy, so leaving anything in the room without fear of it being stolen wasn’t possible.
Again, a rainforest I get it. But the bugs that get into the room are on a whole other level.
Having ants army of ants make their way through your room doesn’t scream 4*
The bathrooms are dated and grotty. Smells very damp.
The toiletries provided are very poor quality.
All meals are served from behind a Perspex screen. By the most unhappy team members. It’s like being in prison. You can even get your own glass of water or juice.
One of the pools is essentially river water I think? Absolutely gross. And if it shouldn’t have been like it, then there was no signage to say it was out of order.
- Sharon (10/5): - Good
- Michael (8/5): - Evergreen Lodge is on an isolated property accessible only by boat. While the area host wonderful experiences, plan accordingly for your tours as you will need boat taxis to get you to and from Evergreen Lodge to your destination.
- Kenneth (9/5): So far removed from it all beautiful life to be had the 4 of us loved it - Breakfast the best front desk needs to communicate better as one said ten min before dinners another 2 hrs???? A little smell from septic???
- Pablo (8/5): Very good -
- Camilla (8/5): Very good -
- Carol (8/5): Very good -
- Doug (2/5): Overpriced, very poor quality hotel. We cut short our stay as we couldn't bear it any longer. - The swimming pool was nice and big. The reception staff were helpful and accommodating when we asked to cut short our stay and did not charge us for the night we didn't stay. Our room was damp all the time - no glass windows at all, just insect screens, with curtains for privacy (which just made the room dark and gloomy. "Free toiletries" were very low quality, shower gel in particular was useless. The entire site had a dated, neglected feel and the food and drink served was, barring one or two individual dishes, the worst we have ever had in a hotel. It was really poor quality and available options were very limited indeed. On arrival, we bought a "smoothie" at the pool bar, at US$5 each; it was condensed milk, ice and a splash of mango syrup.
Getting to the hotel is an ordeal - minimum boat trip of 75 minutes. It's not clear on the hotel website that if you stay here, you are stuck in the hotel unless you catch a boat (free shuttle or 'water taxi'. We paid £120 per night and expected food and facilities to match that price. We would rate this hotel as 2-star at best, it's hugely overpriced for what it offers.
- Victoria (10/5): Exceptional -
