- Anna (10/5): -
- Viny (9/5): -
- Wenkai (9/5): - Great location. Well maintained.
- Tim (8/5): Great spot to eacape busy bali. How bali ised to be. Excellent valie - Great spot on the beach. Very peaceful for a relaxing stay. Lots of good restaurants nearby. Staff very friendly Would like more undercover seating
- Erica (9/5): - Wonderful and magical location
- Karen (10/5): Another stay in paradise - Layed back feel. Close proximity to beach...10metres. Great basic breakfast included. Love the old style rooms with outside bathroom . Restaurants so close in back streets. Love Smiley's restaurant Bit tricky to find bicycle hire
- Klaus (10/5): Great place to stay if you are looking for a quiet and local experience - Location and atmosphere N/A
- Vadim (9/5): -
- annonamous (2/5): Review - Nothing Cannot understand how booking.com can even sell this place, grumpy reception, rubbish rooms and so overpriced . 5 of us and cost $140 night each room.
Great yard and outlook and breakfast great. Manager needs another job to learn about tourism. I read all reviews but never had a dissapointing place like this. Hotel next door $50 a night for better rooms. Wont go back and will tell all.
- Kevin (8/5): Our NYE stay at Amarta - Location, relaxed feel, sea front, friendly staff No hairdryer, 3% credit card charges, better and bigger towels, hello kitty floor mat.
- Marino (4/5): Couldn’t sleep because the room had critters windows didn’t close properly, blew open when strong wind - Location and staff The room was outdated aircon didn’t work properly too many cockroach’s and coconut flying bugs in my room
- Tomas (10/5): We were very happy in Amarta - I don’t understand, why this accommodation has only 8,5 rating now. Yes, there are some rooms, which need some attention - standard rooms often with very old equipment, walls falling of etc. but hey, book a suite ! Nice views, directly on the beach (almost private, just few locals), perfect services, nice staff, refreshing pool, good massages, beautiful garden, good location - We had absolutely nothing to complain about. Water near the suite would be useful, to remove sand from the legs
- annonamous (2/5): Worst value for money in Bali - The outside area was stunning The check in chap was rude and grumpy and did not make you feel welcome.
The rooms booked were shocking for $90 a night. Smelly dirty and shower shocking as floors were so slippery.. After being in Sanur and having been to Bali many times this was the worst place i had stayed in. I cannot understand how booking.com can have it on its books.
- Iuliia (1/5): - Nothing When you arrive at the hotel, you may not get the room you booked. You will be asked to pay extra, and the staff will ignore you. I don't recommend it if you value your time and money.
- Suzy (10/5): -
- Carol Anne (5/5): Apart from the above it was very pleasant - Location, sea view, room after paying upgrade at extra $40pn. Basic cottage was disgusting, dirty, mould, dead insects, paint peeling of the walls, curtains hanging down all this for a $100pn. We had to upgrade for an additional $40pn. Do you ever inspect these properties?
- shweta (9/5): -
- Rae (10/5): - It’s like Bali was 50 years ago but better. Nothing. All good.
- Rae (10/5): -
- Erica (10/5): Paradise - Amarta beach Cottages is a stunning must do in Bali, especially if you are looking for relaxation, a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle, I loved it Rooms need some basic
attention
- balajanek (10/5): - Bardzo ekskluzywny pokój, piękny widok z balkonu, dobre jedzenie, masaż wykonany w spa należącym do resortu: wyśmienity. Stosunek ceny do jakości bardzo dobry. Nie było czegoś takiego.
- Glynis (10/5): -
- Martin (10/5): - The location is absolutely stunning. The reception was a bit grumpy but this is fantastic value for Money on the beach.
- Anne (10/5): - Beautiful laid back beach front stay.
Staff were friendly and helpful, restaurant overlooking the beach. The rip was strong but some good snorkelling to be had, need to take your own gear.
The pool was clean and well maintained as were the gardens.
Lovely stay away from the madness of Kuta.
It is a little away from the town of Candidasa however that added to the holiday, there is a brilliant Indian restaurant within walking distance. We loved our stay, the cottage we had was tending toward tired but for the price it was great and we couldn't fault it, everything we needed was available, including breakfast.
- Allan (8/5): Great location right on the beach, great food at the restaurant - Location. Staff. Food.
- NGUYỄN (8/5): -
- Fritz (8/5): Beautiful spot right on the beach with snorkeling on your doorstep. - Right on the beach with snorkeling possible from the beach. Good healthy corals and lots of fish right in front of bungalows. Clean non-salty swimming pool with lounchers. Beach width is narrow and less accessible during high tide. Breakfast has limited options but sufficient for us. Nice restaurant for dinner with a lovely sea view towards Nusa Penida. Very nice alternatives but also affordable dinner options nearby with other restaurants in walking distance, in particular Smiley and Warung Padang Kecag. Consider a day trip to Virgin Beach. The driver will take you and wait a few hours to take you back. We booked a standard bungalow and upon arrival and seeing it, we were very relieved to hear that there was one of the new upgraded bungalows available, so we did not hesitate to pay more for the upgrade.
The standard one was really old and "primitive," and we would have been very unhappy to stay in it. The upgraded ones is spacious but poorly planned with placing of power points and placing of TV.
Bed headboard to wide to accomodate 2 bedside tables so one person have to put their phone, water et on the flood next to the bed. Huge shower area waited and only an overhead shower head. Replacing it with a removable hand shower is a "no-brainer" Kettle has to be put on the floor to boil as there isn't a proper space for it in reach of a power point.
It seems that very little planning and thinking went into the building plan and/or furnishings and this can easily be fixed with a few tweaks to make the stay much more comfortable. It is also a bit pricey for a more "remote" spot on the island. I could have rated Amarta between 9 and 10 if it weren't not for the above few giggles. I trust that they will take it as "constructive" feedback and make those few changes.
- Sandy (8/5): Superior Bungalow Beachfront - Beautiful sandy beach swimmable all tides, big rooms, lovely clean pool, delicious breakfast, amazing location, quiet and right on the beach Outside lights go all night and with the thin curtains it keeps the room lit up, need water dispenser to save plastic, smell from shower drain
- Cristina (9/5): Paradiso - Un paradiso. Mare bellissimo pieno di pesci. Posto tranquillo e stupendo Nulla
- MR FREDRIC (10/5): - Great location
- Victoria (8/5): - Great location, clean pool, clean accommodation, great views; lovely grounds, snorkeling off beach Beds a bit hard.
- Debbie (10/5): Perfect quiet coastal property that ticked all the boxes and excellent value. - Delightful stay with elevated ocean view in a suite. Perfect quiet coastal property. Staff friendly and efficient and happy to assist.
- Linda (10/5): Wonderful - Everything Nothing
- Darran (10/5): - Lovely hotel, right on the beach. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Would stay here again
- Birgitte (10/5): -
- Sergey (10/5): -
- Danielle (10/5): Coming back for 10 days 17 September - it was that good :) - Coming back for 10 days 17 September - it was that good :) Nothing
- Janet (10/5): Wonderful location in a lovely part of eastern Bali - Stunning location right on a beautiful beach with great snorkeling. Nice small streets nearby with excellent restaurants. Would prefer if they were eco-conscious and gave us refillable glass bottles rather than plastic ones. Bali has way too much plastic now and there should be no new plastic circulating.
- Rodger (10/5): Paradise - It is in the most beautiful location, fantastic snorkelling off the beach and lovely manicured grounds. All the staff are super friendly. Great food at their restaurant. Did not eat anywhere else while we were there. Love staying there....we will be back! All good.
- Terrence (8/5): Very good - Peaceful setting with beautiful gardens. Beach out front with good snorkelling. The food was good but if you wanted to go put many other options close by.
- Karen (9/5): Quiet haven - Location right on beach 10m away. Old style rooms. Quiet. Shower big pressure and hot. Great restaurants so close by. Good breakfast Struggled in area to get bicycle hire
- Oliver (9/5): Great location. Great place to stay. - Great location next to the beach. Lovely pool and lots of fantastic places to eat within a 200m walk. A very quiet part of the island and good to get away from the busyness of southern Bali. Right on a small beach, which is much cleaner than most in Bali.
- Michelle (8/5): Quiet Family Retreat - This is a lovely family haven of peace. The hotel room was very clean and spacious. The grounds are well taken care of and the hotel is on a lovely and secluded beach. Its a fantastic place for families with smaller kids.
- LisaV842 (8/5): Love This Place But They Need To Improve - Third time here and will be back again but it relies purely on its location which is right in front of one of the nicest beach areas in Candi Dasa- actually Sendiku - CandiDasa is about 3 km walk away.
There is NO maintenance done here whatsoever which is such a shame and Housekeeping need training. Even though we were a family of three they would only leave two towels and two beach towels, not take away empty beer bottles or wash glasses. We didn’t lean on balcony as rotting and rickety; and awning window fell out during the night (hinges just came away) and to fix it they nailed it shut!
Restaurant staff are ALL awesome and speak english, food is good with plenty of hotel restaurants nearby and good warungs (Smiley is awesome). Perfect massage hut overlooking the ocean to lay peacefully listening to the waves while having a very professional and cheap massage, body scrub, facial etc. The two spa ladies were fantastic and I thoroughly recommend them.
And that view!!!!!
- Jagoda (7/5): The place is in a great location but it looks a bit run down. Amarta needs some upgrading. - The view and the beach nearby. Grass and open space in front of the cottage. Lovely members of the staff. Lack of hooks or a place to hang clothes or towels in the bathroom. Old curtains and too bright light. Plastic straws are put in every drink or juice.
- Jenny (9/5): A great get away in a great location - I love staying at Amarta. The superior rooms are my favourite. You look straight out to the water. The staff are lovely and the food is great.
- Paul (9/5): Very good - Good breakfast great views Not much
- Rosemary (9/5): Simply the best better than all the rest - Breakfast was great and the location is exceptional
Hope to go back Happy with everything
- Evgeny (6/5): Pleasant -
- Vivienne (9/5): Our stay was peaceful & very comfortable - Breakfast was adequate - service & smiles just lovely
AC & fan get a huge thumbs up Came with an expectation & it was met
- Susan (8/5): Great low-key beach cottages and fancier rooms as well. - I love Amarta… the friendly staff, the location and the superior rooms The price has increased dramatically since I was last there which means I can stay fewer days
- Karianne (9/5): Perfect for a few days family time. - Friendly people, super relaxed.
- aleandrab (8/5): Great location and pool - We stayed in the oldest bungalows. They have probably received some tlc during the last couple of months.
All clean and good sized houses.
Lovely little patio area outside.
Pool and beach are great.
If we return, we will probably stay in the newly developed building. We do believe the comfort might be better.
Breakfast service was good and we had a pleasant stay.
- Dmitri (8/5): Very good -
- Jacquelene (7/5): Great location but a bit overpriced for the condition of the standard room, you would have to book the superior room to - The location was great. Beautiful view onto the ocean. Great snorkelling just off the front.
Massage and spa facilities available on site with a sea view.
Breakfast was good and restaurant staff were friendly. We stayed in a standard room which was dated and in need of refurbishment. The twin room had no mosquito nets and gaps in the wall so hiding from the mosquitoes was almost impossible.
Front reception not super friendly and felt a bit rushed when checking out even though checkout is at 12…
- Rakshith (10/5): Exceptional -
- Oleg (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kumkum (9/5): Excellent location, friendly and caring staff. - Great location Would not recommend staying in the cottages.
- Cheryl (7/5): Good -
- Melanie (9/5): Really enjoyed this quiet place - great black rice pudding - This is a great smaller hotel and I'd happily stay here again.
The hotel / resort itself is smallish but well positioned on the coast with great sea breezes. The grounds are mostly grass but have some garden beds and lots of palm trees. All rooms face the ocean except for a couple of the older style and their front verandahs had views.
The little beach is just off the bottom of steps at the front of the property and that was lovely for a swim, if a bit rough. The pool is small but wasn't crowded when we were there. It's nice and cool - some pools in Bali are like bath water but this was nice and refreshing.
The restaurant is large with inside and outside seating, and some blocking glass panes for protection from the weather if needed. The food was great - lots of choice and all delicious, and reasonably priced. Best black rice pudding ever. It's a bit isolated with only a couple of little restaurants near it but we didn't need to go anywhere else.
We had a suite room which had the most amazing view of the water from our bed. These rooms are at the western end of the property and have a little more privacy (pool is in the eastern area and you can see into the ground level rooms there).
Our room was large with large cupboard area, an alcove day bed, a couple of seats on the little verandah and an outdoor bathroom with a small enclosed rocky garden.
We had a massage in the beach hut which was good and reasonably priced. Minor things:
Synthetic sheets were not as cool or comfortable as cotton (I understand they last a lot longer than cotton, and they were still OK, I just prefer cotton).
Room cleaning left all doors and windows open so mosquitoes kept getting in.
Location is not in the main area of Candi Dasa (next cove nearest to the lotus pond) and it's not really walkable in the heat - this was fine for a couple of days but if I was staying longer, I would have needed to get transport around.

- Reni (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (7/5): Good -
- Kim (10/5): Fabulous location and super friendly and helpful staff. - Location, Beautiful beach and clear water, friendly staff and great restaurant.
- Andre (6/5): Pleasant - The sea The beach is not really beautifull. Cement everywhere. Curtains dirty. Bedlinen full of stains. Smell of mold in the room. Way to expensive for this poor quality
- Alasevicius (9/5): Superb - location on the beach, staff, pool
- Pamela (10/5): Amarta Cottages Candidasa - My first trip to Bali and I just loved this place. Staff friendly and helpful. Accommodation older in style, but ideal location. Food was excellent, and cheap too. Not for those who want to be near duff duff music. Peaceful and relaxing.
- Michael (9/5): Superb - Amarta is beautifully situated, right on the beach. The rooms are clean an comfortable. Breakfast is delicious. The massage lady is terrific. The staff are all friendly.
- Elvira (7/5): Good - the hotel has definitely a greta location as right in front of the ocean. The hotel. has older and renovated rooms . definitely recommend the renovated room as the old ones are clean but just very old , basic
- Jessy (10/5): Hidden gem - Wonderful staff
Amazing location
Great food Nothing
- Wendy (7/5): Lovely small Beachfront resort - Lovely staff, beautiful sandy beach front No shelves/ cupboards in the bathroom.
Only one bedside table
- Inez (7/5): Great location, better value elsewhere. - Loved the location and snorkeling out front of property, nice small beach. No English TV channels or subtitles so pointless if you can’t speak Indonesian. Requested cheaper room due to better location which seemed to be a problem still had to pay for more expensive room on checkout.
- Marie (10/5): Perfect to relax and enjoy vacations ! - Location , super staff, peaceful garden, pool and beach are great too!
Massages are fabulous. Lack of opaque curtains in the rooms.
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional - Everything Not Milk with hot chocolat for children at tve breakfast
- Gerhard (9/5): Superb - Location, the nice pool, reef and problem solving mentality of staff.
- Louise (10/5): Top location on beachfront! amazing sunset views! awesome pool! very clean and plenty of space - Top location on beachfront! excellent host and staff, amazing sunset views!! awesome pool! lovely dinner and breakfast! Very clean with plenty of space
- Putu (10/5): Exceptional -
- Oscar (9/5): Highly recommend - Location, ocean view, pool, food, the village (only a few tourists, local traditions) The mosquito net on the bed was dirty, with lots of mosquitoes and dead bugs
- Tonee (7/5): Good -
- Sarah (8/5): Very good - We travelled with 2 families and we really enjoyed Amarta. The location was a little bit far away from the main street to walk with the kids, but there were good restaurants and shops within walking distance. The pool was beautiful and clean. We had the last 2 villas down the ed - that was good for the kids to play on the grass out the front without disturbing anyone else.
Not a huge range on the menu - but we didn't expect it from a smaller place. It was tasty! Amazing coffee up the road at Mandira Coffee Although I was on holiday, I still had some emails that had to be answered - we could only get wifi at the restaurant. Wasn't a huge issue though.
