Guest Reviews
- Aletheia (10/5): - This hotel was great. Lots of character! I chose this over a close by chain for a more interesting vibe. The elevator and the rooms...and the whole place was great. The oldest working elevator in Greensboro! Staff were great, welcoming, and helful.
- Patrick (10/5): Cute, clean & comfortable - Cute little boutique hotel. Clean and comfortable. Great location. The staff were all delightful and helpful.
- Yolanda (10/5): - Everything was perfect. Enjoyed the stay.
- John (10/5): - Very nice historic hotel in a great downtown location near restaurants. Exceedingly friendly staff.
- Angela (10/5): - Nice!
- denise (10/5): - Place with history vs a chain hotel
- Andy (6/5): - The place was nice and the staff was amazing. I wasn't prepared for the age of the hotel and the elevator was more than I could handle at 1am when all I wanted was sleep.
The location was perfect, just not for me.
- Donna (10/5): - Outside noise super late, but to be expected on a Friday.
- Riley (10/5): Would stay again - Loved everything about this place, the area isn’t super great but it was so comfy and cozy inside.
- Daniel (6/5): - The original room we where supposed to stay in with the king bed the mini split unit was extremely loude , no way we where going to get a good night sleep. The staff were accommodating they did move us to a different room with a queen bed but the rug was dirty the bed headboard had mold and the ceiling fan was full of dust. Will not be staying there in the future. Oh and the breakfast was disappointing the coffee was undrinkable had to go out for breakfast. The building outside definitely needs to be kept up.
- Laura (10/5): - I loved the history of the hotel and the manager, Bryan, was impressive beyond all expectations. He was gracious, informative, enthusiastic, passionate and I could have listened all day as we took us through the formation of Greeensboro. My hope is that the hotel will be preserved to secure the history and stand as the institution that it is. It is a gem and deserves to be treated as such.
- Macon (10/5): - Great historic hotel in a great location to walk everywhere in downtown Greensboro. Friendly staff!
- Tammy (10/5): A favorite find in Greensboro! - We LOVED staying at the Biltmore Greensboro! The history and the vintage charm beats any chain hotel. You HAVE to talk with the staff to learn about the history in order to fully appreciate your visit.
It was worth the hot water only being lukewarm to experience this lovely hotel.
- Ray (10/5): Great history - Major history with this hotel and the staff were happy to share the history.
Hotel is within walking distance other eating and entertainment.
- Amy (10/5): - Me and my friend loved our stay here! Felt like home! The staff were very kind, helpful, friendly.
Loved the vitage old vibes and the history behind it.
- Mark (10/5): - The staff was incredible, the hotel is beautiful.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Historical but desperately needs maintenance - It is "historical" but also very dated and needs some tlc. Staff were all amazing.
- Ken (8/5): - The breakfast was delicious. It feels like home.
- Sonya (10/5): - Staff made my stay! They are a great team and really went the extra mile to make sure everything was perfect!
- Laura Lee (10/5): - What am amazing little gem right in the middle of the Gboro social district! They keep with the historic and vintage history of the building and decor while offering clean well appointed rooms and concierge style services. Wine each and cheese at 7p each evening, lovely continental breakfast on fine china in the mornings
- YiChing (8/5): - Public parking lot just across the street, very convenient. And front desk will provide voucher for it, no need to pay extra.
- Christopher (10/5): - The property is very format looking and I loved the plateware and the look of many things that I saw. The traditional elevator is also worth the price of admission. You'll have a great time here!
- Jillen (8/5): - Being an historic property, some allowances are to be expected. Loved the continental breakfast - lots of options. Likewise the dining options in the neighborhood. Walking distance to the performing arts center. And the floor squeaked as did the bed springs.
- Noah (8/5): - Nice staff, charming old building
- JEANETTE (10/5): - It is a beautiful and charming small hotel with a fascinating history. The location is excellent and the staff is outstanding. We are very pleased with this choice.
- JoAnn (10/5): Loved our stay - Check in was great. Lots of local information given including nearby reastaurants. Bed was very comfortable.
- Anne (10/5): - Staff was very friendly and shared all about the stories of the house during our wine party.we liked the old elevator.
- Teri (10/5): - The Biltmore Greensboro Hotel was a great place to spend the night when we were in town for a concert. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The decor is very nice. The staff was friendly, helpful and respectful. We loved that the front door gets locked at night and no one gets in unless they are a guest.
- Ginger (10/5): Amazing - Great place. Will definitely return. Favorite was the first unmanned elevator in NC!!
- janet (10/5): - Very cute property. I loved everything about it.
- Kristina (8/5): - The hotel is within easy walking distance of parks, shops and restaurants. The building has old-fashioned charm - large windows, wood floors and a vintage elevator. The waffle bar was a big hit with my traveling companion.
- Emily (10/5): - Loved the daily wine and cheese reception at 7pm in the lobby. And the hotel staff was friendly and made an effort to remember names, important details, etc. It literally felt like we were staying at a friend’s home.
- Ina (4/5): - The hotel is extremely run down. Rooms bathrooms and hallways are living proof of that. Breakfast leaves a lot to be desired for. Even after asking no milk or cream cheese.
Cleaning service comes and does not clean. For get about vacuuming they don’t even collect the trash.
- Jody (10/5): - It was a little loud with the business next door
- Sandra (8/5): - Staff was amazing. Historical element of property was excellent. Minor suggestion to consider carpet upgrade in room. Especially enjoyed the onsite breakfast.
- Bonnie (8/5): - Staff was great! Shared the story of the hotel’s haunting when I checked in. The property is in a run-down downtown area but that wasn’t an issue for me. Loved the history and vintage character of the property.
- Mike (6/5): - History of the place was nice Communication between service personnel was not good, no room service 1 day , Communication on parking was lacking. The people working there were nice.
- Ronald (10/5): - Loved this classic, historic place. Staff was top notch!
- Kristin (10/5): - Cool old building. It has character and charm.
- Gabriela (10/5): - Stayed one night and had a lovely stay. It was quiet, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was nice and clean and there’s a parking lot across the building with free parking. So there’s no additional fees. 10/10.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not for me - The hotel staff are really nice and the physical location is both the best and worst. Best because everything is super close and walking distance. Even free parking. Worst because there is a loading/unloading station right next door and a train station. So the room I stayed in was extremely noisy. Both during the day and at night. Please bring ear buds to pop your ears if you expect to sleep at all. During the day I had teams calls that were impossible to hear properly because of the noise. The WiFi also is very weak and makes it difficult to stay here on business travels. The bathroom is tiny with insects crawling in the bathtub and the interiors are jaded and old. Carpets reek, are torn many places and the air conditioning also is very noisy. The antique furniture sure adds charm but only in pictures. The bed is very high and difficult to climb on and off. Not very practical. The only thing going for this place are the people working there. Having said that I complained about the noise but was told that I couldn’t get any other room as they know about it and all rooms have the same issue. I would not recommend this place.
- Jessica (4/5): - The only reason staff got a 2 rating was due to the older lady in the evening that was always sweet but the guy that checked us in was rude both times. The bed was old and uncomfortable. The area was noisy and due to poor insulation you could hear a pen drop outside the room much less all the cars. Homeless people aloud to sit and smoke right at the door. Definitely needs better upgrades. We thought with the name Biltmore it would be nicer but we were sadly mistaken and for the price at almost $500 for 2 nights we weren’t happy!
- Mary (10/5): - Beautiful building and right in the middle of downtown
- Paula (10/5): First time stay - Great experience and located close to restaurants, coffee houses and other shops.
- Byron (10/5): - The breakfast was wonderful and the vintage hotel and it's stories were wonderful to see and hear about .
- Patricia (8/5): For the historic enthusiast! - I am a bit of a history buff so enjoyed listening to the many stories about historic Greensboro and the families related to the now Biltmore of Greensboro. I was especially fascinated with the elevator as it brought me back to fond memories of the lift operators of old.
- wendell (10/5): - The staff is great!!
- Chris (10/5): - Great spot to hang out in downtown
- Lynette (6/5): - Very quaint. The shower head didn’t work properly and it was rather noisy outside after 7 am.
- Chandra (10/5): - A quaint historic hotel. The staff is very knowledgeable about the history of the area. The breakfast was nice.
- Audrey (10/5): - Historical building with history and shops, and resteraunts right around the corner.
- Carol (10/5): Perfect stay! - Beautiful place steeped in history! The pink room was lovely, comfortable, and perfectly cleaned. The 12-foot ceilings and large windows with plantation shutters made it feel spacious, and the bed and linens were some of the best we've seen anywhere. Gregarious and informative hosts made it a perfect stay, not to mention the delicious continental breakfast with best-ever croissants.
- Victoria (10/5): - This Hotel is super cool. The original elevator is one of 9 left in the US. The entire place is just charming and beautiful!
- Natasha (10/5): - Nice overall.
- Jennifer (10/5): This Hotel Is A Gem! - I love this place and have come here every year for my daughter's dance competition. I love the vintague boutique atmosphere.
- Caroline (6/5): Don't expect to get in after hours. - The hotel was very nice, pretty quaint, and conveniently located. The only problem was they left the entrance locked, and unattended, so I couldn't get in. It was February, cold, and fairly late at night. The number to call after hours sent me to voicemail. I called repeatedly, banged on the door, and was left out there for about 20 minutes. Honestly, I was scared. Finally, the woman came to the door and made up some excuse, all the while reeking of marijuana.
- Lou (10/5): - Lovely hotel with great character. The manager at the front desk couldn’t have been nicer. Well situated for our exploration of downtown Greensboro, and many dining options all within easy walking distance.
- Rachel (10/5): - The Biltmore Greensboro was very convenient to the Tanger Center, which was what brought us to Greensboro. It was also a quick walk from the Civil Rights Museum, which we really enjoyed visiting. We loved the hotel's antique elevator and friendly staff. Breakfast was far beyond expectations, too.
- Gloria (10/5): - The staff was an absolute delight to converse with! Cheese and wine service, while learning about the rich culture of Greensboro, was a treat!
- James (10/5): - Awesome Historic Hotel. Close to restaurants and sites. Tim was Awesome also👊👊
- Betsy (10/5): - The Biltmore Greensboro has been my home away from home for the four years my daughter played college soccer. Parking while staying at the Biltmore is free; a complimentary hot breakfast is offered every morning; my dog stays for free; complimentary wine and cheese served every evening; the staff couldn't be more inviting; my room always has the fragrance of fresh linens; coffee, wine and pastries are all purchased from local merchants; the hotel is walking distance to any number of eating establishments, and around the corner from Carolina Theatre; and there's not another hotel in the area that offers such a unique, historic feel. It is my go-to whenever I visit Greensboro.
- Denise (10/5): - Nice staff, great historical information and stories - loved ZOE!
Original elevator made by Warner brothers from early 1900’s is Amazing and runs well- super cool!
Breakfast good and bed comfy.
Wall plaster is bubbling and coming off in room and looks like water damage.
- Cynthia (4/5): Ok, but would not go back - The staff and the lobby was quaint and friendly. Wine and cheese at check-in was a bonus. There is a closet elevator that I would not ride. The stairway up to our room was longer than typical but doable. Parking was great. It was absorbed by the hotel at a parking garage across the street. My negatives are about the room. There was shipping and bubbling paint on the outside walls. The bed was too high to get into for anyone over 40. The bedding wouldn't stay put and kept releasing from the corners of the mattress. The bathroom cabinet had rust around all the hardware and the door to the cabinet was falling off. We were in room 227. I imagine there are bedrooms so if you book with this hotel, try to avoid the room we were in. Also, water was dripping through the wall tile into the bathroom tub. Not sure why I don't think it was the haunted ghost of the hotel, I believe it was a plumbing deficiency.
- Kimberly H (10/5): - Staff was friendly and helpful
- Cheryl (10/5): - It was a great location. Enjoyed walking on/around property.
- John S (10/5): - Very friendly staff. Historic property, great location for downtown Greensboro, right off Elm St.
- Wesley (10/5): - Great location
- Michael (10/5): - The folks that work there take a great deal of pride in their work and the historic significance of their hotel. It’s not for everyone, but if you like s”stepping back in time as l do now and then, I highly recommend it.”
- MATTHEW (10/5): Great stay - Great stay. Super friendly staff
- Sara (8/5): Historic and comfortable small hotel - This architectually interesting historic hotel in downtown Greensboro was a nice break from cookie-cutter properties. My room was well-appointed and spacious, the included breakfast was good, with a variety of options (although a whole grain bread option would have been welcome), and the staff members were cordial and helpful. My rooms (bedroom and sitting room) on the front side of the hotel, were sporadically noisy on weekend nights, and I wished I had taken earplugs.
- David (10/5): - The hotel was very quaint and had the feel of a bed and breakfast. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
- Charles (10/5): - Love older properties
- Kellie (8/5): Lovely gem in heart downtown - Lovely historical hotel convenient location close to restaurants, bars, and shopping. Staff were friendly and helpful. The mattress could have been better but it worked for short stay. Hotel itself was quiet, but was on main floor and could hear all noise when bars closed. Probably not as bad on upper floors or front of hotel. I would stay again just different room.
- Susan (10/5): - Adorable old hotel furnished in early 20th century style. Personable staff. Charming. Would make this my first choice every time.
- Arthur (10/5): - I love this place. It's old and it shows its age, but that's a plus for me. Distinctive, fun and downtown near the train station make it a perfect quick weekend trip.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing stay , friendly staff, interesting building history provided by dtaff
- Andrew (8/5): - Quaint but maybe a little quirky. Some will love this place
- gregory (10/5): - Great stay at this historic building property. Not fancy in the same way as premium hotels, but very friendly and home feel. Old metal gate elevator, original brass hardware on doors. Convenient breakfast items. mini-fridge in our room.
Old 4-post bed pretty high and floors a bit creaky, but this is also part of the historic charm.
Great start for exploring downtown Greensboro history.
- Richard (2/5): - The worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. I wouldn’t stay here even if they paid me the $175 a night. The ac unit sounded like a jet engine. Had to leave it off all night. The bed creaked loudly on any movement. The mattress was equivalent to laying on asphalt. Their supposed free breakfast is a handful of bagels and a waffle machine.
- Sarah (10/5): Lovely hotel - Great turn of the century hotel. Very quaint and lovely. Breakfast was very good! Very close to lots to do downtown. Will definitely stay the next time we are in Greensboro!!
- Susan (10/5): - Excellent staff
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place - Loved this hotel. The people who run it were so knowledgeable and passionate about the property. It’s a very interesting place to stay with a lot of charm and character. Great location to everything- I would stay here again!
- Julia (10/5): - Friendly staff, beautiful building, great free breakfast and charcuterie at night. A luxurious and charming experience
- Ashley (10/5): - I loved the area and the staff was amazing!! I will come back here again and again!
- Russell (10/5): Wonderful historic hotel - Wonderful little boutique, hotel right in the middle Greensboro. Nice little walking distance to the downtown area.
Staff was very attentive and very nice. Was impressed and would stay there again.
- Raymond (6/5): - Bed was extremely high off floor and couldn't provide a step to help get into bed
- Brenda (10/5): - The guys were great. So helpful and friendly. Brian and Lee were very gracious.
- Michelle (10/5): - We stayed 3 nights and fell in love with the property! The rich history of the Biltmore was evident everywhere you turned. The staff was so passionate about the property and the history behind it that they weren’t just people there to work, they were the Biltmore!
Take the walking tour, ask questions about the property, embrace the beauty of the Biltmore and the staff that embraces it!! Greensboro was so much fun to explore and the choices of dining were fantastic.
The property was so quiet we had no clue it was a full house!
Thank you Brian, Lee, Koka, Stephanie, and the rest of the staff for making our stay memorable.
- Kim (10/5): - Lovely historic hotel. Staff was very nice and informative, rooms were clean and beds were comfy.
- Roberta (8/5): - The breakfast selection and presentation was wonderful! Staff were pleasant and efficient. Room was smaller than expected, but comfortable. Shutter and bathroom sink need repair.
- William (8/5): - Historic old house, great staff. Lobby beautiful. It is convenient, within walking distance of many downtown locations. In room fridge and A/C noisy. King bed was good. Tub with shower, risky -no tub mat. Paper plates and bowls like many mid range motels for breakfast. Bakery goods average, we were there a Sunday morning. Parking nearby and on street in front if weekend. We will consider for future stays.
- Alexander (10/5): - My room as at the front of the hotel facing the street. So, I got quite a bit of noise late at night from outside. The curtains also let in a lot of light at night from the street lights. Had I stayed in another room it may have been different. Otherwise a charming hotel with very friendly staff. I’d stay again, but in a room off the Main Street.
- James (8/5): - Loved the history and decor. Greensboro’s first electric elevator still in service. Tons of dining options. Highly recommend!
- Julee (8/5): - This is an older property but is very clean and has a great continental breakfast. The area is very walkable and has great dining options. I would stay here again in the future
- JOSEPH (10/5): - This was a great unique place to stay. It's wonderful to be warmly greeted and then offered wine and cheese. I'd definitely stay here again.
- Sharon (6/5): - Scuff marks on the wall, bathroom fixtures loose or broken. Cosmetic repair is needed. Staff was very friendly.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The staff was very friendly and the location is great, but the quaint charm of an old hotel didn't do it for me. The internet was spotty, and there's no consideration for environmental sustainability.
- Jonathan (8/5): - Reception guy was friendly first day but kind of stand offish at checkout. Not sure who poured water on his cereal. Speaking of cereal the continental breakfast was actually quite excellent. Almost anything that you could possibly think of including DIY waffles. Walls look freshly painted in room and it was clean. No bugs. Bedspread was definitely old school but clean and no stains. I Elevator was an attraction and even though of an original 1903 old school design worked perfectly with no weird mechanical scary noises. I would definitely go back to stay there on my next trip to Greensboro.
- Ann (10/5): - Wonderful property with a wonderful staff. This property is so full of history with a staff that loves to tell you about it. They are knowledgeable and passionate. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I loved how this property is walkable to so many great restaurants and bars.
- Frances E (10/5): - What a great hotel!
