Guest Reviews
- Joyce (2/5): - This place was disgusting. There were 2 of us. We had 1 washcloth to share. They cater to Hydro Ontario workers so when they use the washcloths and towels there is grease etc. on them. The white cloths were disgusting. The people who owned the place were not friendly. They don't make the bed and clean the room unless they are asked. When I asked for fresh towels on my way out they wanted me to take them back to the room. I told them that was not my job. I really don't know what we paid for. The phone didn't work properly so I couldn't get a wakeup call. Unfortunately I wanted to speak to someone at Expedia to ask them if they check these places out but the number didn't work. The pictures of the place looked good but it sure was a dump. I would not use Expedia again if I returned to that area. I was offered a beautiful room by another motel for $5.00 more a night but beings they had my money there wasn't anything we could do.
- Joel (8/5): - Great value motel, nice friendly staff and clean rooms.
- Peter (10/5): - It is an older place but we’ll maintained, quiet and clean.
- Michelle (10/5): - Close to highway
- Cici (4/5): - Room has a weird smell, TV can’t be turned on. Towels are not clean enough.
- Wendy (4/5): - We have stayed at this place before and it was too bad but owners have let it go and it is in terrible disrepair!
- Larry (6/5): - Facility is a bit dated. It was clean and quiet.
- Darren (10/5): - Good place
- james (4/5): - we have stayed in motels at half the rate and in better condition, we did not use the shower, the toilet malfunctioned, there was no aerator on the sink tap, the beds were uncomfortable and the metal frame supports stick out and care needed to keep from toe stubbing or ankle . and the dinning area was closed. ice machine in lobby and drink machines out of order.
everything but the tv was old, outdated and in poor condition inside and outside. we had booked for 2 nights. cancelled the second night and left.
- Suzanne (4/5): - Very run down. The light fixture in the ceiling was starting to come away and looked like it call fall down.
- Bonnie (4/5): - Basic accommodation, few amenities.
- Gilles (2/5): - Web site said breakfast included. No breakfast
Bathroom floor was full of pubic hair. Bed way too soft and the TV didn’t work
Won’t recommend to anyone. This place should be shut down.
- Venkataraman (2/5): - It is bad for price
- Claudette (4/5): - Units are old, cleanseness is fair .
Towels and face cloths are very worn and gray from usage. Bed linen was clean. They just need to refresh their towels stocks.
- Rick (6/5): - Older motel needing much refurbishing. Owners were very nice and had a strong desire to be helpful. My room was comfortable.
- Tammie (8/5): - Great for quick stop but could use good dusting of the room. Friendly check in and allowing for later check in! Thanks for the hospitality
- Marilyn (4/5): First and last time there - We’d never stay here again. Internet is poor, picture of motel on website is not current, as it’s gone down considerably in appearance, and the basic necessities in the room were missing. However, the hostess was very obliging in providing what should have been there. It’s very shabby.
- Vitia (8/5): - Nice place.Clean.Friendly staff.
- James (6/5): - This property was a disappointment and is misrepresented on Expedia. The property is in very poor condition. The rooms are quite sparse, the towels are threadbare and the bathtub needed a proper cleaning. Three of the four bulbs in the light over the bathroom sink were missing and the toilet plug was broken. Should not be included on Expedia site !
- Tom (6/5): - Was decent place to get sleep and shower
- David (2/5): - Very dirty along with a feces splatered toilet.
Never stay again
- Ruth (10/5): - The property manager was very welcoming and personally showed us to our room.
- Miria (6/5): Canadian Journey - Staff was nice and helpful. Hotel itself was like something out of the 1950's that got lost in the update years. Good luck if you wanted to watch TV through the vertical green lines. Bed not as comfortable as was reported in previous reviews. Definitely not worth the money.
- Hannah (2/5): - Made the reservation online and when I arrived I was already second guessing myself but had already paid for it. Splashes on the walls, doors had been broken into with a prybar, faceclothes stained. I don't know if there were any other tenants in the place as there was only one other vehicle present. I stayed only a few hours to catch my breath and moved along. I took a video of the terrible condition.
It is possible that the place is newly opened for the season, but if you can drive further or stay somewhere else, I would recommend it.
- Perry (6/5): - Lamps not working, television has static lines
- GUY (8/5): - clean bedding
- Smadar (8/5): - The price was too much for this place
- Graham (6/5): - Okay, time for a positive, fair but constructively critical review. I stayed at many motels on my recent journey from Toronto to Victoria and all of them were 5 stars except for this one. The gentleman who checked me in was very professional, friendly, helpful, and polite. There was a problem with the key imprinter so he unlocked my room and I was able to get in. The bed had some crumbs or debris on top of and under the covers. I even found a curly black hair in the sheets. No big deal, the sheets smelled clean. At 1am a noisy bike pulled in right in front of my window and the rider proceeded to choke/cough to death while loudly talking on his cell phone. The windows were older so I could hear the conversation about horsepower and dangerous stunts and races. Then, bless him, a friend joined him and they each had a smoke and a 15-20 minute loud conversation about more of the same stuff and features of their bikes. I love bikes and I ride but this wasn't the time, right in front of my window. I felt like someone should ask these guys to quiet down and head to their rooms - management was nowhere to be found and I didn't feel like heading out there in my underpants and getting my butt kicked so I weathered the storm. Bottom line, the place needs some updates and I know that takes money. It might need to sharpen some cleaning techniques and definitely needs to keep an ear out for loud guests at 1am.
- Kenneth (10/5): - Staff
- Susan (6/5): - Everything was good except that the whole place needed painting and the windows were filthy. The windows did not open and close properly
- Aeydan (10/5): - Staff were nice. Rooms were large and pleasant. Nice large windows. Great place to say passing through!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Go elsewhere and don't believe the positive revie! - This place is terribly outdated. It had ants, windows that wouldn't close, moldy smelling towels, a/c that made strange noises, hallway smelled very stale and ran into other travelers sharing the same experience. Would never stay there again!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - room was clean and comfortable.
stale odour in hall.
Deep, the owner was kind and helpful.
services such as breakfast not available and some things out of order.
price high for this motel
- Tanmay (6/5): - The shower spray holes needs cleaning. The washbasin needs repair/replacement
- Joan (2/5): - The whole building is very old and dowdy. They should consider doing some renovations, both inside and out. They advertise that breakfast is included but the kitchen was closed. I would not
stay here again!!!
- Deborah (10/5): Nice place! - This is an older building, but everything had been updated, including doors with swipe cards to unlock. The motel isn't fancy, but my room was large and comfortable and had everything I wanted, including a fridge, a microwave and a sofa.
- Colleen (8/5): - The person at the front desk was friendly and helpful. The room was clean with wifi, fridge, etc. The decor was a bit dated, but would definitely stay there again
- Joel (6/5): - The property needed some work with sticking doors, and touch ups. The cleaning hadn’t been fully done. But overall it was good for the price, and a pleasant stay.
- Jacques (6/5): - Room was very clean however entrance of hotel needs upgrade and had a musty smell.
- Kathy (10/5): - I've stayed here before and would stay here again. The owners are very hospitable, the room clean and the bed was comfortable. Can't ask for much more on a long trip.
- EDWARD (4/5): - Missing and or burnt light bulbs over vanity.
- Linda (6/5): - Staff were helpful. Place clean for an older inn. No plug for sink. It would be worthwhile updating with paint and replacing some worn pieces. It was unfortunate that the TV was placed on a table rather than wall or desk area. There was no place to sit at a table or coffee table . Only place to sit was recliner , bed and a hard back chair. Then set up in the room was poor as there was a larger empty space in the middle
- Normand (10/5): - Very nice, simple, clean and enjoyable. Close to town
- Glenn (8/5): - Easily accessible from the highway. They contacted us to check if we were still going to check in due to the fact we were running late, rather than just giving it away to someone else.
- Carolyn (6/5): - Very roomy when compared to more modern motel rooms. Bathroom needs upgrading otherwise quiet night.
- Felix (10/5): - Very nice. Would return.
- George (8/5): - No microwave. Was up graded to two beds but ask to use one.
- Gregory (6/5): - adequate, bare bones accomodation
- Daniel (4/5): - property was central and good
the dollars charged was too high for the quality of the place
- Rick (8/5): - Owners very nice and helpful. Very quiet and clean. Good eating places in the area.
- Paul (10/5): Overall great stay/experience. - Overall great. Little issue with wifi but owner helped straighten it out. Little issue getting TV/cable to work but got it to work. Stay here regularly when we come to town. Good consistent experience and good friendly service.
- jared (10/5): - Very clean and quite
- John (4/5): - Smelled terrible, sheets and towels stained, couldn’t tell if sheets were not cleaned or just smelling dirty mattress through the sheets. Vending machine shut-down with tape over coin slot. The coffee and coffee machine were nice.
- Debbie (6/5): Ok if you are desperate for a place to stay ! - It is a discount hotel and everything about it screams discount. We booked a room with 1 queen bed and they didn’t have any so told us to choose a bed that we would use and they covered the other up with a sheet— in this covid time I’m not comfortable with this policy as there was nothing stopping us from using both beds and remaking and putting the sheet back over the bed we were not supposed to use.The room itself was clean but noises were amplified when someone was in hallway and water pressure was very poor. There was hot water but it took forever to reach the sink and forget about a shower there wasn’t enough pressure to even try.
- Charron (8/5): - Clean and accessible. Staf very friendly gave ideas for restaurants
- Jayne (8/5): - I liked that there was plenty of green space in the back of the property.
- Ana (6/5): - Bed was comfortable with coffee pot that was nice. Good wifi and tv worked well. Small bath towels and dirty in spots. Window view would have been nicer with a clean window. Owners were very nice.
- Tyler (8/5): - Clean, Friendly staff
- Verified traveler (8/5): WSYWIG ...decent roadside inn - This is your typical roadside inn. Front desk staff (owner?) was quite nice and very accommodating. The parking lot was in very good condition and the property overall was very clean and quiet. The interior is in desperate need of a renovation. While everything was in good condition, it was quite dated. Small affordable updates to the inside and rooms of this inn would go a long way! Water pressure was good. Toilet was oddly small (or maybe I'm just used to what I have at home?). I do wish there was an ice maker available after hours.
- David (4/5): - Property in need of serious upgrade. Advertised breakfast- non provided.powerful odour from cleaning material.and most of all ac vents were full of black mould
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotels beds were not actual mattresses.
It was super hot and i wouldn't use the ac because it was filthy amd didnt want the air blowing into the room.
I couldn't open 1 out of the 2 windows because it was broken
The shower head was broken.
For a 140 i expected an updated and clean room.
Check-in was easy as the owner lived on site and super friendly however accommodations were less than desirable
- Verified traveler (10/5): - An older motel that has been upgraded, and the rooms are very clean. Stayed for 3 nights while we explored the area, and no complaints. It was an enjoyable stay and the motel manager was great.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Room was quiet but it needed updating including bathroom and tv.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room and the property was very clean. Good value for the money.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Hotel room was adequate as I did not spend much time there.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Owner was very friendly and helpful. The building itself is older but the inside of our room was immaculate! Furniture is older but its one of the cleanest places i have ever stayed! Dont let the exterior fool you. The beach is only a 2 minute walk & is beautiful! Will definitely stay here again...especially for the price!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It doesn’t look great from the outside but it was very clean on the inside
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The rooms were set up nice. Very thoughtful to put recliners in the room to relax in. The couple who own the property are exceptionally he,Paul
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I had a good night's sleep and I enjoyed my stay. I would use this motel again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was average nothing special
- Sonia (10/5): - Good service
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Close to road with a path to the lake, motel was clean and suitable
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Super kind family-owned motel. They were eager to help us find some activities to do in the area and provided clean and cozy rooms.
- Dwayne (8/5): - Hotel room was pretty big and clean. Good parking. Good customer service.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Easy check in, friendly staff/owners, clean, and a perfect place right on the Trans Canada.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean facilities, location was good for of the highway travel, and pleasant staff
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Waited for long time.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It's a little dated, but it was still very comfortable and very clean. The owner was super nice. I would recommend staying here
- Verified traveler (4/5): Dont go here! - Not at all like the photo. Weeds overgrown in front. Paint in front was peeling and had mould outside. Service was abrupt and not the least bit friendly. Breakfast was advertised on the website and on the outside of the hotel but lobby was locked and dark in the morning. Old and dated with a weird smell. Would not recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly and personable owner.Check in was fast .Due to the pandemic no breakfast alas. The room was spacious and clean and nice and quiet .I would stay here again in a heartbeat as it was great value for the price .Could use additional towels however. The owner is all about service and he could teach others how it is done .
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Coffee maker worked, staff were patient, I felt that since no breakfast and no notice on advertisement they should have offered a discount.
- Matt (10/5): - Checked in late, they were ready for my arrival, the owner even came and held the doors for me as I brought my bags in, next morning a delicious breakfast was cooked for me.
- Paul (10/5): Great motel in Blind River area - This has been our typical “go to” motel when staying in the Blind River area for one of our annual ice climbing trips. Always good friendly service and reasonable rates compared to other motels in the area with the additional benefit of a complimentary cooked to order egg/toast breakfast.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - It was the wrong motel in the right location. It is run down and dirty. It needs a full renovation. I would not recommend in its current state. The guy that checked me on was pleasant though.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The minute i walked in the smell was Horrendous, the Carpets were filthy. I cancelled the reservation immediately and moved on. I Do Not recommend this place at all!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Was close to my destination. A working vending machine would have been nice. Pleasant stay.
- Sylvie (6/5): Disappointing - Breakfast was supposed included but we could not have it because the girl at the office did not know how to prepare it. So we paid for a service we did not have. We did not get any reduction of the price.
- George (6/5): - It’s a good location , in a little town right off the highway!
Gentlemen at front desk was nice !
- Verified traveler (6/5): - the place is starting to show its age and needs some maintenance
- John (8/5): - This is an older property. The flooring in the hall way should be replaced. Also the outside property needed cutting of grass and removal of litter.
The made to order breakfast was excellent. The bed was comfortable. I suggest that when booking that a room on the back on the motel be requested so that there is less highway noise.
Staff was most accommodating. Recommended an excellent restaurant for our dinner.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The made to order hot breakfast was good and unusual for a motel.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Huge disappointment. - When we arrived around 6pm, no one was around. Outside areas were filthy. Trash, beer cans and bottles were scattered both in front and out behind the hotel. There was a note to call for help. We decided to go to dinner and then returned later. We were able to check in and received the WiFi code and were told breakfast would be available starting at 7am. WiFi worked but no internet service. We left around 7:15am - no one around, no coffee, no breakfast. Room was clean however. Would never recommend
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Nice that breakfast is served, nice to be off road,Beds were ok. But very dated carpets, lots of cobwebs, for the money probably wouldnt stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved the hospitality of the owner who had no obligation to, but very willingly served us his curry when we admired the smell. Just doesn't get nicer than this. He refused payment, so left a tip in thanks.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Management goes beyond what you would expect.
Breakfast was great. I am pleasantly surprised about this Place.Would definitely stay there again. The Rooms are very clean.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We’ve stayed here before heading to and from Toronto. Older building but adequate for an overnight. Just off highway but we’re not bothered by noise at all. Cute sitting area outside. Breakfast between 7-9 but we wanted to head out early so didn’t have it this time around. We did use the microwave in the common area though.
- S (2/5): - Management did not assist at all with the rescheduling or accommodating changes to booking.
- Paul (10/5): - Clean, good service
- Verified traveler (8/5): I would stay again - Room was clean but a little weary. The owner or manager was very nice. Breakfast was wonderful.
- Joseph (10/5): Review - Pleasant stay, clean, older motel, good service.
