E3882GIcynthias (10/5): Charming and perfect for a show at Apres Only! - This was our second stay at the Field Guide Lodge, and we are planning to return in March. We travel there specifically because we are attending concerts in Apres Only, their lounge. For anyone doing that, snagging a room at this lodging allows you to park your car and leave aside all worries about driving anywhere after the show, alcohol or not. The rooms we have stayed in are relatively compact (especially the bathrooms) but fully serviceable, very cozy and clean. They give you a sweet bag of locally sourced treats to kick off your stay. The bar has full service and some "lodge" type food; the morning breakfast varies and is included. If you don't like that day's offering, there are plenty of other local options! If you are not coming here for the music, then beware that you will likely hear it anyway, but it's over by about 11:30. IF you like music, though, they get some top notch acts! For us, seeing a band like Guster or a performer like Chad Stokes in a room of only about 200 is an enormous treat at an extremely reasonable price. Plus, when you check in, you park your car right up front and never have to look for other parking! We've stayed in the king rooms, and for our next stay, we've upgraded to a room with a sitting area. Each room is different (the website says that!) so your room may not look exactly as pictured! For a charming stay, whether you're skiing or attending a concert, this place is friendly and very Vermont!
E3128HRlisaw (8/5): A different kind of experience. - We had a nice King suite in one of the lodges outback which met almost all of our needs. Unfortunately, the Internet was down when we were there so hard to do any work or stream a movie at the end of the day. The reception area at the main lodge was nice, a little quirky with a orangy 70's vibe. Lots of seating areas and nooks to escape to. The desk was not manned very often or hardly at all. The bar was OK. The inclusive breakfast in the morning was good the first morning (yogurt, fruit salad, berry scones) but we completely passed on the second morning, which was salmon, cream cheese, oatmeal, and big squares of some sort of bread, and the fruit salad. It was a short doable walk to town. The bed was super comfy, as well as the blankets and the pillows. The room was clean, we had a gas fireplace and a deck. It was very light and airy. The bath towels were plentiful and thick, we had a soaking tub as well.

ronald (9/5): Cozy ski lodge like property in a good location - Centrally located property with the ski lodge motif. Check-in was efficient. The rooms are on the second floor mostly. There is no elevator. Some older guest were complaining. The hallways are slightly narrow. Not a problem for us. Our beds were extremely comfortable. good pillows. Proper climate control. Strong shower pressure. We did not care for the breakfast. We’re more pancakes and eggs people, rather than the served overnight oats and yogurt people. I enjoy the hot tub. The lounge downstairs Was stocked with games and lots of card tables. We spent two evenings down there having fun. Last night a folk band came and played. They were good. Overall, I would stay here again. We didn’t love the breakfast.

Stuart (9/5): Central Location accessible to Stowe with a fantastic breakfast included with room rate - Great location with ample parking options. Breakfast was absolutely great for us with plenty of healthy options and great Nespresso coffee. Complimentary water in the room was great with access to coffee, tea in main downstairs area. Very comfortable and quiet area with plenty of seating options The bedroom was a little small in comparison to other rooms we stayed in on this vacation, however, it suited our needs for 1 night. Whilst generally clean the room would have benefitted from a good deep clean round the edges

The bathroom was exceptionally small shower was about 40” square the total bathroom was very very small no place for toiletries to sit at all. No closet in the room. I would never ever recommend that place to anyone.

Perthgirl2017 (2/5): Be careful - We recently stayed for 2 nights at this place. We paid $1200 for a king room, which looked nothing like the one advertised on the internet. It was old, grimy, the bathroom was a dark hole with no windows and a lot of discolorations in the shower. Our door lock did not work, the rod was not attached to one of the discolored black out curtains. The bed sheets were polyester. At night you could hear people talk in the adjoining room. The breakfast was not great, but ok. Coffee and tea come in paper cups. The nicest thing about this place is the lobby area. There is no lift. I'm listing all these things here , because I felt ripped off by the false advertising and because we paid so much money for such an underwhelming experience. I would not have complained if the night had cost $200. I would therefore not recommend this place to anyone.
Carrie (10/5): Unique place to stay - it was GREAT! - We had a great time at Field Guide Lodge. The room was clean, the common area had so many little spots to gather and hang out. They have a nice shuffle board table and we played and had a lot of fun. This is the FIRST hotel I ever decided to use the shampoo and conditioner that they had versus what I brought with me. They use Lather brand which is a great clean brand. I am now going to order to have at home. Loved the shampoo and conditioner. It is unique, very welcoming, and the bed was super comfortable. Totally would stay here again and highly recommend.
Ana (4/5): - The rooms are not properly maintained. There’s grout missing in the bathroom and poor cleaning/maintenance of the rooms. The rug in the room was so dirty. I had to ask for daily housekeeping and they still didn’t come every day. For the high price, stay somewhere else.

Great location, good breakfast and unique experience with campfire music! - We stayed at a suite on the second floor with a view of the pool and some trees that had changed colors, though the pool was empty. The sitting area was spacious with a fireplace and balcony. Beautiful decor. The bedroom was funky as the tv was behind the door and prevented opening all the way. Bathroom and tub was great but shower was too small and had curtains ☹️. We ran out of Kleenex and the teapot didn’t work. Breakfast was really good and great choices like chia seed pudding! Great location and walking distance to downtown.
542victoriaq (4/5): Disappointed - We were originally put in a room directly over the bar and had a dingy bathroom with a shower curtain. I asked to be moved. We were moved to a floor above away from the bar area. The bathroom in this one had a screen door but the shower floor looked dirty, nothing a good scrub with bleach would sort out. Although hot water and hot cider were provided in the reception no coffee or tea, only coffee at breakfast and no coffee making facilities in the room. Beds were comfortable and nice bedding. We were woken up every morning around 4.00 with a very strong fume smell in the room, we don’t know if it was the air conditioning that was faulty but was a but worrying that it may have been toxic, so we opened the windows but being on the main road it was then noisy. Breakfast was a poor offering and not really worth having. Considering this establishment cost us around $880 for two nights it was certainly not worth the money.

One disappointment was that the bar area was not open during our stay only seems to be available over the weekend , a shame for your guests staying outside this time - maybe an honesty bar would be a good idea ?

DARRELL (10/5): - We had a wonderful Trail House suite on the corner of the building. It was spacious and well appointed with everything you could ask for, including a soaking tub and fireplace. Despite a few negative reviews, we found that the room was extremely quiet (even with the hotel being relatively full), and the interior areas were spotless. The cleaning service was perfect, making sure to replace the bath salts. Our only issue was with the outdoor furnishings on the lovely balcony. The chairs had cob webs on them, and the cushions on the sofa were filthy and unusable. This was a very disappointing lack of attention for an otherwise first class operation. The breakfast was yummy with a fantastic chocolate croissant and a savory leek and Parmesan pairing. The Nespresso machines and the in-room tea and coffee selections were also a nice touch. We didn’t use the pool, but it looked great. The staff was super. They accommodated our early check-in request and promptly responded to our 9:30pm text giving us instructions for our departure at the crack of dawn. The location can’t be beat. Walk to Main St. and a short drive up to Smugglers Notch and Waterbury. Overall a fantastic weekend stay in Stowe!

Close enough to all the shops and restaurants that we were able to walk everywhere we wanted with no issues. Front desk staff was super sweet and helpful when we arrived and checked out. Can’t wait to be back for ski season!

Michael (6/5): - The hotel has a cool vibe and really comfortable beds. However, our room had no side tables or dressers to put things on and only two small cubbies for recharging electronics, but too small to fit an iPad. There was no counter space or shelves in the bathroom for personal toiletries and the retro fitted sink didn’t drain properly. Finally, the property is not all connected by walkways, so it is a little wonky and you have to go outside to get from the room to the lobby. This was all after paying for the upgrade to a better room.

Courtney (6/5): - I like our room but was a little disappointed in the condition of the room. It had a weird smell upon arrival, the shower was very dated and had a hanging curtain rod that fell down multiple times. They fixed it but it was way too high up and water got out of the shower and the curtain blew into the shower while showering. We were in the first floor and could hear everything above us. I stayed at 3 lark hotel properties during my east coast trip and I liked this one the least.

Lisa (8/5): Goodish - Checkin was fine but not exceptional. We drove to our room which was right up a hill. The suite was nice but had a bit of a musty smell when we went in so we opened the windows. The floor needed a bit of a clean so we told them and the next day it was cleaned well. The bed was very comfortable and bathroom spacious. Breakfast was ok but limited choices each day.

LisaHertfordshireL (8/5): Stowe stay - Staying here for four night, while touring Vermont. All in all it’s been a good stay, with a couple of snags, but not major ones. When we arrived, there was one member of staff in the building, she gave us our key but not much more information. We drove up to the room as it is up the top of the hill at the back. The room is good with separate lounge area and a balcony. We didn’t think we had air conditioning as when we got in it was very hot a bit musty so we opened all the windows. My husband asked the girl on the desk, who said there is and did come up to show me how to work it. (I would never had found it otherwise) The breakfast is included, but very limited only about 2-3 options . The room is serviced well every day. We had to call a number left at the desk to check this on our first morning as there isn’t a member of staff on most of the time, but when I called the lady was helpful and assured me the room will be cleaned .
KentishMole (8/5): Characterful property with pronounced ski theme - Located about a 10 minute walk away from Main Street but a very good restaurant opposite. Very much a ski themed location but still a good choice in late August. Good bar and also breakfast included. Really liked the shuffleboard on the bar area and also the hot tub. Didn’t try the pool but looked good. As a family of four we booked the Trail Suite, which was huge with three bedrooms and a living space. Oddly only one bathroom though so bear this in mind if requesting. Overly hotel is basically a big. Wooden ski lodge so bags of charm and character but probably not to the taste of those seeking modernity. We very much enjoyed our time here.

mark1336 (6/5): Could be better - Had a 2 night stay in July. Arrived early, this wasn’t a problem and our room was ready. The first evening we could hear music playing downstairs ( I think our room was directly above the bar area) but this wasn’t a problem as it stopped around 10.30pm. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case the following night and music played continuously throughout the night which made it very difficult to sleep. Breakfasts were ok although we had better elsewhere during our trip. Room was clean and comfortable. Great location.Only saw a member of staff when we checked in and again when we checked out. Based on the constant music playing, wouldn’t book again.

cristina (8/5): Esattamente quello che mi aspettavo, tranne la colazione... - Il lodge è molto carino, ben arredato, pulito e dispone di piscina riscaldata e hot tub, molto gradita! I nostri amici avevano la suite più grande che disponeva anche di un delizioso terrazzino che dava sulla piscina. Vicino ci sono diversi pub/ristori dove mangiare o bere qualcosa raggiungibili a piedi. Unica pecca, la colazione non è minimamente all'altezza del posto e veramente misera: un ciotolone di porridge con la frutta secca e un vassoio di dolce (durante il soggiorno abbiamo trovato a rotazione o croissant o muffin o una sorta di cinnamon roll), caffè, latte, tè e poco più.

Amanda (10/5): - Absolutely loved this unique lodge and hope to return one day. The quality of design and decor is so stunning, clearly a lot of thought and work put into the outlay of all areas. The room we had was on the top floor overlooking the pool - so spacious and cosy with a fireplace. The breakfast was a surprise of quality baked pastries, fruit and something different each day such as overnight oats. Something for everyone. Only comment would be better cleaning of the outdoor balcony as couch was full of leaves. Otherwise amazing stay!

Karen (6/5): - We had high expectations of the stay based on the reviews online but were under impressed with our stay. In terms of price - you get low value for the quality of the room (this is also considering during “low season”. We stayed in a lodge king - the room had low ceilings, was hot and musky (they had AC but it was weak no ventilation), and needed an update. The bathroom had lots of mildew in the shower, was tiny (not like pictures as advertised online) and smelled (again poor ventilation). We asked for our room to be cleaned during our stay and it was not. The highlight of the room was the bed - it was really comfortable. Staff were nice and helpful when they were around but they seemed a short staffed the whole weekend / nowhere to be found. Breakfast though was simple but good. Looking back, we probably should’ve stayed at the Fairfield Inn down the road instead of this “boutique hotel” and would have had a more comfortable stay.

Per 240 dollari a notte mi aspettavo molto di più.

Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful stay - We are very happy and grateful that we were able to check in much earlier than the scheduled time of 3:00pm. We also appreciated that breakfast was included in the stay. We stayed in a suite on the top floor of the Trail. Hotels.com asked us a few days before our stay if we would prefer to upgrade, and it was a good decision to do so. The Trail suite is a very private unit with two separate rooms, making it easy to use. Please note that there is no elevator and the only access is by stairs. There were two things that could be improved: there was no water supply to the bathtub, which was a wonderful addition, and one of the windows was left open when we entered the room because the handle for the rotating rod that opens the window had broken and been lost. Overall it was a great stay. The location, the cleanliness of the room, and the interior with attention to detail. We will definitely stay at the Larks Hotel again.

paulinefU9107BO (6/5): 2 night stay in August - Emma and Aidan were extremely hospitable helpful and friendly when myself and my 13 year old son stayed recently for 2 nights. They gave me a care package to save me from going to the local pharmacy, which was a mile away, which I appreciated. We had netflix on tv which we made good use of. The outside pool was very cold, but the hottub (you have to pre- book a time) made up for that. The breakfast was mainly granola, 2 other unidentifiable cereals, apples, yougart, nuts and seeds. There were 2 juices. There was a plate of rolls. The hot water was always tepid, not boiling, so tea or coffee was impossible, although there was free teabags, milk and sugar available. The bathroom was perfect, great shower, hairdryer etc. The bedding was so soft and comfortable, felt like hand picked organic cotton. The fixtures and fittings needed attention - the cover fell off the tiny radiator 3 times as it wasn't screwed on properly. One of the fancy curtains wouldn't roll up properly and was dirty. I wouldn't stay again as it wasn't my scene, but the continuous music was good. 37 dollars for 2 white wines and 2 (mexican based) cokes.

Lisa (6/5): - Property itself is a great location and hotel is nicely updated. However the walls and ceiling are so thin you can hear everything coming from the floor above and outside the room. Made it very disruptive to sleep or relax in the room. The bed itself had a very weird slant so your head ended up being lower than your feet. Staff was pleasant and hotel itself was nicely kept just the issues with the all the noise and the bed were significant enough to lower the rating
Mikako (8/5): - The property location was good. Was able to walk to downtown. The property was cute but the room was small for family of 5 and outdated. Bathroom was small and the lock to yard was broken. The included breakfast was ok for adults but not for kids and also start time was too late (8am). Hot tub required reservation ahead of time so we didn’t even bother. Staff was super friendly and the common area was warm and welcoming so I gave 4 stars overall.
