Guest Reviews
- Courtney (10/5): - The Bell Inn was absolutely lovely. Our room was small but clean, comfortable and charming. But the real star of the stay was the restaurant itself— the food was excellent. The owners, Mark and Sarah, were very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Don’t hesitate to book your stay here!
- Maureen (10/5): - Wonderful stay-welcoming and comfortable. Great food!
- Julian (10/5): Overnight stay - Quiet room . Comfy bed. Friendly staff. Excellent food
- Neil (10/5): - We arrived Friday lunchtime and was greeted by a young man serving behind the bar who was so friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent, we had a couple on drinks, we were then shown to our room, which was spotless and spacious. We came back down for a drink before heading out for the evening, Saturday morning we came down for breakfast and once again was greeted by a friendly chef, the food was delicious and hot, with plenty on toast, coffee and fresh juice, the owner (Sarah) arrived, we then new why all the staff was so warm and friendly. We will definitely stay again
- Louise (10/5): - It was a beautiful place to stay, room was immaculate and the food in the pub was great. Definitely recommend to stay there if your out that way.
- Patti (10/5): - This place was spectacular! Our room was quite large w a sitting area - the bed was very comfortable - we arrived soaking wet and they provided a drying rack - they were extremely accommodating, providing us with a packed lunch to continue our walk the next day - dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious - very kind staff and a beautiful view -highly recommend!
- Carl (10/5): A personal favourite - Fantastic place to stay. I used to stay here monthly on business as it is a pub with a high calibre standard for customer services. The food is outstanding and rooms are outstandingly clean, well provided with a Bluetooth speaker, Flat screen tv, seats and a coffee pod machine. The breakfast in the morning is a 1st class with fresh ingredients, toast and or coffee and juice. I used to stay before Covid. Haven’t been back since and the service is still top notch!!
- John (10/5): Great little stay - A lovely pub - comfortable rooms at a fair price and excellent food in the bar.
- Nicky (10/5): Great stay - Wonderful stay at The Bell Inn at Selsley.
Great accommodation and breakfast was excellent.
Restaurant was excellent to with attentive staff and a good quality of food. Would definitely recommend.
- Katherine (10/5): - We walked from the train station to the hotel and it was too far , very hilly. However, when we reach the hotel it was nice, an older building but clean and well kept up. Up. The food was great in the restaurant. Including one just up the hill from the hotel that was particularly interesting very often
- Jennifer (10/5): - Wonderful place to stay. Beautiful and well cared for. We loved it!
- Stephen (10/5): - One of the places I will recommend most
- John (10/5): - Just off the Cotswold Way, and very comfortable. Staff was super friendly, and all our meals there (lunch, dinner and breakfast) were very good. Would definitely come back!

- Ross (8/5): - Lovely location for our trip for the Cheltenham festival. Dinner on Tuesday was stunning. Excellent setting. Rooms equipped very well for what they are required for. Would recommend as a great stop for a few days in the Cotswold area
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Excellent service from the lady at the bar who checked me and also served in the restaurant. Some attention to cleanliness details in the room and slippery stairs access to the rooms. Otherwise great food and very friendly service
- Jemma (10/5): Delightful B&B - I had previously contacted the venue to see if it was possible to leave our bags as we needed to attend a wedding before the check in time. Communication as great and the venue allowed us to use the room before the check in time. The room was lovely and really in keeping with the pub/ restaurant. The bed was super comfortable. Would definitely stay again.
- A.J (10/5): A great place to stay - Beautiful room, very comfy bed. Excellent breakfast.
A great place to stay
- Janice (10/5): - Staff really helpful and friendly. The room was really lovely
- C (10/5): The perfect place to stay. - My room was absoluty stunning and the attention to detail extraordinary.
Well worth the money paid and i cant wait to go back so i can also visit the restaurant that i missed this time due to time restrains.
- Paul (10/5): - Quaint cottage. Very clean room. Staff was very helpful and pleasant.
- Deborah A (10/5): Lovely getaway visit - Our second visit since lockdown and the stay was as good as our first visit. Food exceptional and staff all very friendly and helpful.
- Jamie (10/5): Great place to stay - Loved our stay. Super friendly staff, the accommodation perfect for a family and food brilliant.
- Sarah (10/5): Perfect! - Our 1 night stay at The Bell totally exceeded our expectations.
From the minute we arrived, the service was friendly and welcoming, and our room (The Dovecot) was beautiful, clean and perfect for us. Our dog was also made very welcome both in the room and in the restaurant. The rooms have their own separate self contained entrance so you can come and go as you please without having to walk through the pub.
We paid for half board, and dinner and breakfast were both excellent.
We would definitely have no hesitation in recommending The Bell, and would happily stay again in the future.
- Richard (10/5): Very Nice - Cosy rooms above a nice pub. Quite hot in the roof space, but a fan was provided. Good food and 1 to 1 service for breakfast!
- Paul (10/5): - Wonderful place. No dinner options on Monday nights, had to order out
- Julie (10/5): Wonderful stay - Lovely stay. The room was comfortable & beautifully clean. The food was superb & the staff were all very nice. Would heartily recommend.
- Ofelia (10/5): - Great dinner, terrific restaurant staff, clean room and very gracious proprietor. Thank you for the early breakfast
- David (10/5): Just perfect - Fantastic pub and accommodation with a view over Stroud. Friendly staff, clean and tidy room (small but cosy). Breakfast and evening meal were of good quality. The late breakfast sitting of 8.30am may not suit all, but I believe there is a continental selection which can be taken away.
Highly recommended.
- Sarah (10/5): Great food and lovely room - We stayed in a lovely, large room above the pub and it was quiet, warm and of a really high standard. We stayed in December and there was even a real and full size Christmas tree in the room which was incredible! The drinks and two course dinner in the restaurant were delicious and a great breakfast was made to order in the morning. All the staff were very friendly and overall it was good value and a perfect stay. Would definitely return! No car, so we got the train to Stroud and used the pub as a base for some accessible and nice walks. A very good base for seeing the surrounding countryside.
- Ian (10/5): - Room excellent, Breakfast Excellent.
- Camille (10/5): A wonderful B&B - Fantastic place to stay and eat. We loved every minute of it. The food was delicious and the service was spot on. Would return again in future.
- India (10/5): - This stay was amazing! A wonderful and accommodating staff, clean living area, and delicious restaurant downstairs. Do not hesitate to book a stay here. This has become our favorite stay on our holiday!
- Craig (10/5): - Charming 16th century Inn, with an authentic pub, great ambiance, in a historic village. The restaraunt has fabulous food, the service was great. If I could give this a higher review I would. This was our favorite stay in our village hopping southern England tour!
- Neil (10/5): Great stay - An absolute gem of a place. Room was super clean and very well equipped.
- graham (8/5): Lovely hotel in a lovely location - Lovely place, lovely position. Restaurant not open on Mondays but recommended an Italian nearby - well worth it but do book! A couple of items that detracted for us ... because it's SO quiet we became more aware on unusual noises outside, and our room was at the end by the road so once traffic started in the morning we became acutely aware and awoke earlier than we woudl have hoped. The other issue was the height of the bedroom ceiling - we were in the eaves so there's limited headroom.
- mikk (10/5): - The staff were friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived and throughout our stay.
The facilities in the room were excellent and the little touches like fresh milk daily and biscuits made the stay more pleasant.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location with nice food and spacious room - Good room and good evening meals and breakfast. The bed was too soft for me. The room is above the bar and you can hear the bar noise until about 10.30 in the evening.
- nicholas (10/5): - Rooms small but full of character. Bed v comfortable. Big view from room. Eat here tho, the food is outstanding
- KATHRYN (10/5): - Fabulous stay, great room, very clean and great staff. Fantastic breakfast too!
A note for the owners…..we stayed in The Vally room, a decent light with a mirror is needed! My husband couldn’t see to shave and I couldn’t see a thing! Plus a plug near a mirror to be able to use the hairdryer.
- E J (10/5): Recommend this Venue! - Very quick one night stay for NYE get together in Stroud. Place is an ideal location and venue for a short stay. Great access to good walks and pubs!
- Kristian (10/5): Great stay - Great stay here, room was fantastic and staff very attentive
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing stay - Lovely location and the breakfast was absolutely delicious. We were just passing through but, are planning to return next year.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely spacious accommodation. Very clean and tidy. The only drawback was the bar and restaurant was closed for holidays.
- Emilie (10/5): Amazing find - We stayed for one night at the Bell Inn while we were hiking the Cotswolds Way. The room was quiet, clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly and attentive, and every single meal was made from local products and absolutely delicious - they even offer a packed lunch, which was perfect for our next day's hike.
We can't recommend it highly enough.
- Camille (10/5): Best run B&B EVER!!! - Everything about our stay at this B&B went above and beyond our expectations. We only stayed one night to celebrate my partner's birthday. We had the most delicious meal in the restaurant. We enjoyed the food, drinks and atmosphere so much, we spent over 3 hours talking away at our table. The service was perfect. The staff were extremely attentive, but not overly pushy and understanding when we took a while to choose what we wanted. The room itself was beautiful, the bed comfortable and the amenities were outstanding. They provided Champagne on arrival as requested and although they knew very well it was my partners birthday, they didn't know it was such a special moment that we decided there and then to get engaged. Romance was obviously in the air! Thank you to the Bell Inn for providing such a high standard of service and for being so kind with every interaction, despite my niggling emails to check that everything was in order. We will definitely endeavour to return to this place and spend more time there. I couldn't fault it. We felt so spoilt and lucky to have stayed in such a wonderful place.
- James (10/5): One night break at a country inn - Lovely clean inn. Excellent food - both dinner & breakfast. Excellent service - friendly hosts. Good room - comfy bed, good shower & toiletries. Excellent value for money
- Clare (10/5): Definitely recommend - Lovely place to stop over, had our little boy with us and he enjoyed it too. Enjoyed the food and the hosts took care to look after us well.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Had a wonderful stay every attention to detail was perfect … and the sunday roast was delicious thank you The Bell
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff at The Bell Inn are very friendly and helpful, food is extremely good and great surroundings, room was clean and well equipped. Would stay here again.

Views from up that hill and stunning.
- Jamie (10/5): - Lovely rooms above the pub, more like a suite than a room. Plenty of mod cons and a good base to see the area.

- Catherine (10/5): Heaven, just off the Cotswold Way - This place was absolutely amazing - a little slice of heaven halfway along the Cotswold Way. The bathroom was pristine, the shower worked well, the toiletries were divine, the bed was comfy, and I loved the fact that we were given a thermos of fresh milk, in order to have proper tea and coffee in the mornings (none of that UHT nonsense!). The restaurant was wonderful too.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff very welcoming and helpful. We dined in the restaurant one evening and the food was lovely, they accommodated my gluten allergy well :)

Great place, great rooms, great food, great people..
- Joanne (10/5): Fantastic - Great stay. Room was very spacious and lovely.
Food in the pub was goregous.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We arrived quite late but were immediately made very welcome. The room is round the back of the pub, easily accessible and quite secure. We stayed in the King size en-suite room which was perfect for what we wanted. There were tea and coffee facilities in the room with fresh milk and home made biscuits. Although we only stayed one night I wouldn't hesitate to book for more.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful building, lovely small touches (homemade biscuits, fresh cold milk in the room), excellent breakfast and friendly people. I would highly recommend dining here, the food was excellent!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Room was lovely and we ate in the restaurant which was also great. cannot fault it!
- Richard (10/5): Sensational - I spend two nights in hotels a week and have done for 2 years. This is the best of the lot. The rooms are lovely. The little touches, such as fresh milk in the room and home made biscuits, are great. The food is magnificent. Friendly staff. Near the m5 so great for work and travel but also great for walking and exploring.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - the inn is situated on a hillside overlooking the town of Stroud and the valley in which it lies. The owners are very personable and the staff was very attentive. The food (both breakfast and dinner) were beautifully prepared and quite good after a long hike on the Cotswold Way. Would highly recommend
- mark (8/5): Nice food and nice people. - Nice friendly people and great food in the bar in the evenings. My only issue is the low wooden beam in the room. Getting up in the night and banging your head on it in the dark happened a couple of times. You should be ok if you're not much taller than 5'8" other wise be ware. All other aspects are spot on
- Carl (10/5): Beautiful - Fantastic place to stay - the rooms are lovely and the food is amazing
- Gwyn (10/5): Loved it! - Really loved the room and the staff did everything they could to make my stay nice!
- Rupert (10/5): The Bell Inn - Trully amazing pub hotel. Lovely service fab room and the food was excellent. Great value and well worth every penny spent. Thank you
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Gorgeous room with amazing staff nothing too much trouble for them
- Lin (10/5): - Lovely room and very helpful staff.
Disappointed that the bar and restaurant were closed in the evening as this wasn’t clear at the time of booking. However the hotel phoned us to let us know so we could sort out food for the evening.
Would love to stay here again when fully open!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely room. Great staff. Fabulous drink selection - Very nice all round thanks. V friendly. Great bar great menu
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very friendly relaxed team - The staff at The Bell were all absolutely lovely which made it for us! Breakfast was pretty special too, we had full English and our daughter had eggy bread with maple syrup :)
- BlackDog (10/5): - We had a wonderful spacious room (Dovecot). Walked up the common in late afternoon and met many new 4 footed friends. This area is extremely dog friendly. Returned to the lovely little pub for drinks and an amazing dinner of fresh duck and roasted chicken. Would return here for a longer stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amasing - What a little gem fantastic room, fantastic food, fantastic staff
- Scott (8/5): Stunning view of the countryside. - Don't let the less than perfect rating for the condition of the room dissuade you from staying here, the room was a little cramped and its age came through. But this is an old inn, so don't expect the Ritz. But what you do get is a clean, charming and comfortable room, stunning views, a smiling and welcoming staff, good food, and a friendly atmosphere.
I have traveled through the Cotswolds before, and Stroud was my Grandfathers birthplace. As we parked and passed over the walkway to our rooms I couldn't take my eyes away from the view. I felt at home.
I am very happy we came to The Bell and our next return trip will include this stop.
- Clive (10/5): Great Inn with character close to M5 Junction 13. - Lovely recently renovated Inn with character. First class staff and Michelin class food, both at Dinner,Lunch and breakfast.
- dominic (10/5): Great - Very clean, nicely dressed and lovely cookie.

Good setting and away from noisy roads
Quite hot in room and would have benefited from a fan
- Mrs Sophia Williams (10/5): Charming overnight stay - Charming staff, delightful and warm welcome. Food and drink are excellent and reasonable
