Guest Reviews
- Brendan (6/5): - Fabulous location. Downside was the soft bed and a very tiny room. Otherwise, price was reasonable.
- BERNADETTE (8/5): - Odeur de renfermé
- Vinicius (8/5): - Estadia ok.
- Amy (10/5): It depends on the room.... - My second visit to Hôtel des Bains was a totally different experience. I upgraded to a better/ larger room that faced the courtyard rather than the street. So much quieter. Quite comfortable the second time around.
- Elena (8/5): 2 nights stay in June - This hotel is conveniently located within a short walking distance to restaurants, metro and Gare Montparnasse. The rooms are small with barely enough space to open the suitcase, but the bed was comfortable. Air conditioning was good and very important on hot summer days. The hand washing liquid and for the shower/hair in big bottles didn't smell nice. There was no body lotion provided. To get from the lift to the room, it was a narrow staircase first down and then curved one up, which was very inconvenient for carrying the suitcase. The breakfast selection was good.
- Julie (2/5): - Be very careful when leaving...i was charged for my stay twice..still waiting on my refund.NOT HELPFULL AT ALL
- PAUL SUDEEP (2/5): - The air conditioner in the room was very old and does not work. The room was very warm and suffocating since the air conditioner did not work. Though complained at the reception, they agreed it does not work but could not do anything.
- Frode (8/5): - Super-charming small and cosy hotel in a great area for food and drink. Much preferable to those standard and boring business hotels.
- Vincent (8/5): - We stay at Hotel Des Bains every visit we make to Paris while en route by train to our other destinations. We enjoy the neighborhood and easy proximity to Gare de Montparnasse.
- Lise Marie (8/5): Fint opphold!
- Thomas (10/5): - Friendly service, clean and nice room, good location.
- Ingrid (10/5): - Goed bereikbaar, netjes, aardige mensen. Kleine maar knusse kamers. Aanrader!
- Kimberly (10/5): - The staff and location were excellent. It’s quaint with a hot shower, and walkable to the subway, shopping, and eating!
- Jesper (2/5): Mixed Experience – not again before Improvements. - I recently stayed at this hotel and had a mixed experience. After check-in, I struggled to find my room due to confusing signage and the odd layout, with stairs going up and down even after taking the lift. This made navigating the hotel quite difficult.
One particularly unsettling moment was when I encountered a large dog, apparently belonging to the hotel, roaming in a dark corridor. While it may be friendly to the owners, as a guest, it was frightening and made me feel unsafe. Something like this should not happen in a hotel setting.
The amenities were disappointing as well. There was no Wi-Fi, which is a basic expectation nowadays, and the breakfast was subpar. When I took a shower, the water spilled onto the bathroom floor due to poor water-tightness, creating an inconvenient mess.
On the positive side, the location is great—right in the heart of a cozy area, within walking distance to many attractions and opportunities. If you're just looking for a bed and shower at £130 per night, this might work for you. However, given that many other 4-star hotels offer similar pricing, I expected better service and comfort from this stay.
- Anders (8/5): - Very convenient location, well connected to the famous places in Paris by the two nearby metro stations and several good dining places and cafes in the neighbourhood. Friendly and service minded English speaking staff. The first room we got had a strong smell of mould in the bathroom, but we quickly got another which was just fine.
- Patrick (10/5): - Friendly, helpful staff.
- Dale (8/5): - We stayed here as it was close to the main station as a stop off for one night. The hotel was good, decor was tired, but ok. The room was comfy and provided a good night sleep, bin collection at 6 am was a bit of an early start, but to be honest … I didn’t mind!
- Helen (10/5): - Really lovely hotel. Such a nice area away from all the touristy hustle and bustle, and people pestering you to buy things! Easy walk to a metro station at either end of the road. Bars, restaurants and bakeries around the area. Room was clean, decor was lovely and traditional, just great in general. Would definitely return.
- Leopold (2/5): HORRIBLE - Welcoming staff very rude and disrespectful. No respond to my greetings for a start then we made me wait for him to finish his paperwork before taking care of my reservation. After a few minutes of waiting I asked him he didn’t think that doing his internal job later wasn’t more appropriate than making a client wait and he said “No why? I don’t see why and don’t conceive that either” I was appalled to say the least…then good night with the street noise and the neighbor peeing, yawning, coughing, snoring… you name it….sparing you other details ….other guests coming in and out the stairs cracking etc etc HORRIBLE
- Jennifer (10/5): - The location of this hotel is so great. Walk to 2 different metro stops in minutes. Great restaurants and a convenience store are also minutes away.
The room itself is tiny. Barely room for 2 suitcases and the bed. But, the bed was comfortable, staff very friendly and it had everything you needed (towels, soap, hairdryer, etc.)
Would recommend for a couple or single traveler!
- Philipe (10/5): - Okay its a very nice hotel for the money.if you like slick and polished then the hotel next door might be for you? Rooms are small perfect for 2, They do have suites" If you want more room to spread out but are limited, book them early.
They do serve a breakfast, but better to go out and use the many cafes.Subway is 2 mins away on foot" It needs an interior designer to do a few touches, but its comfortable and everone was pleasant. Your room key has to be inserted in the box next to your door, inside your room to electricfy the room, dont forget that!
We have used this hotel for 4 years now, and will going foward.
Great iconic restaurant down the street "La Ronde" Philippe and Sierge will guide through your dinner! ($$)
- Régine (10/5): - Hôtel bien situé, propre
- Deborah (10/5): - Well situated on a safe & friendly street. And price was great value for service! 👍
- Serge (10/5): - Very good location for a friendly hotel. We will be back.
- Malene W. (10/5): Fint lille hotel - Godt til prisen. God beliggenhed.
- Lewis (4/5): Disappointing and run down - Pretty dated, facilities below par. Felt very run down and not like the pictures and reviews seen on the app. Would definitely recommend looking elsewhere but in the same location as that was excellent.
- Tom (8/5): Lovely little hotel - Lovely hotel in fantastic city centre location. Staff very kind and room lovely but a few small issues
Tiny lift up to the rooms often with a queue
Room itself was very clean and comfortable but very small. Smallest hotel room
I’ve seen. Thin walls, hear everything from
Neighbouring rooms.
Location was 10/10
Staff 10/10
Balcony 9/10
- Tzu-Chin (10/5): - Very nice.
- Herve (4/5): - Chambre très très petite. Propreté pas terrible car hôtel vieillot. Pas vraiment d’accueil souriant et agréable.
- Marcia (10/5): Satisfeitos - Quarto atendeu nossas necessidades, é pequeno, mas bem limpo.
Localização espetacular
Bolangerie, mercado e metros bem próximos.
Ficamos satisfeitos
- Kareem (10/5): - Would definitely stay again. Very clean rooms and bathroom, great location near shops and metro, great service.
- Gerald (10/5): Une belle surprise ! Dommage !
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Hotel location is a little bit far away from city center but convenient to restaurants. Hotel is in poor condition and beddings are old. Room smells unpleasant and has no lock to the balcony.
- Franz (8/5): - This is a pretty little hotel in a perfect location. The room is small but that’s the norm. Everyone was pleasant and our room was very clean. New bathroom but again very tiny. Location location location perfect!!! Loved the food options and the closeness to the train and bus.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good location and price, room had great character!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We are a family of 4. Mom, dad and two kids(12 & 9). The hotel have a next bulding, that's a few step away of the principal. Really close. In that bulding We stay.
Pros.
- Nice little hotel.
- Excelent location.
- Great zone of restauntats and creperies around.
- Its quite at nigth( the building We stay)
- Two mayor metro station (edgard quinet and vivan) Just a few steps.
- A mini market close by (exit the hotel and go left, Just for half Block)
Cons.
- Its not updated. The towels, bed sheets and carpets are very old. But the bathroom and heaters and even ac Its New. Its a strange contrast.
- The bulding We stay dont have elevator, We stay in second floor, so We need to take our luggage UP and down.
- The hotel have two peoole that manage the reception ( one hindi type and one Caucasian type) the indi one Really nice person. Try to help and comunicate. The other one, not so nice. Not rude, but not help at a all.
- Verified traveler (6/5): -
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Vieille structure... Escaliers dangereux...
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Good location, a Paris-apartment-style building with a small elevator and a narrow corridor. A good shower facility.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Très calme. En sécurité. Ambiance chaleureuse.
- Glenn (8/5): Small hotel in good area - Love the area but the room was small. Maybe in Paris this is normal but there was no room for cases.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Heater in the room inop, water pressure and temperature variable, room smelled mildew, could hear both next door rooms, even when other guests whispered:
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice, small hotel with comfy rooms, great situated in the heart of Montparnasse. A bit hard matress on the bed, though.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very small room and bathroom. Last floor has tilted walls(thr roof) so we had to duck every time to go from one side of the room to anothother
- Nicky (8/5): - We were on 6th floor and the elevator broke. Rooms clean, though a bit noisy.
- Ian (2/5): - Garden patio under construction, or renovation, or place to store paint, cement, and dust. We could never use it and it was one of the reasons we booked. Elevator slow. No bar fridge in the room. Shower floor flooded, no cold water unless I flushed the toilet 5 or 6 time to bring cold water up. Breakfast is a rip off. 15 euro for bread and jam. Staff made me sit at a table with used cutlery. The hotel is in a good area for cafes. Take it off your list.
- Peter (6/5): Wi fi shocking - Great location and that’s about where it ends, small rooms wifi shocking.
- Marisa (8/5): - The staff was friendly and helpful. House keeping took care of my major trash loads. The room was cute and quaint. Modern bathroom. Only negatives would be the elevator being out of service for the majority of my stay. Got quite the workout being on the 6th floor. Also, the WiFi only worked a few days out of my two week stay. I think it had to do with me being in the 6th floor. I would definitely consider this hotel again. Great location. Good amentities. Not far from restaurants open late. Quick access to multiple metro lines.
- Mercedes (6/5): Okay for cost, but I would check all options - We got stuck in the elevator twice. They leave the lights in the hallway off (okay for conserving energy, but it would have been nice for the staff to tell us there are switches everywhere and we should use them). The bed was comfortable and the shower was hot. The air conditioner worked, but it leaked. It is on a street with many bars, so enjoying France winning the semi-finals for the World Cup from the balcony was nice. It is not an accessible building. The elevator is tiny and there are still more stairs to access any of the rooms. We did not try the hote breakfast.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very comfortable - The hotel overall was very nice and comfy, but the only downer was there wasn't enough wall plugs for the multiple people that were with me. Other than that, it was really nice.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Stayed 8 days.Love the location near the 4-6-12 lines and great shopping. 2 books from Montparnasse Tower and the train station.
Lots of great restaurants and rue Gaite
- Lacey (10/5): Great Location - We felt like we were in such a safe area! Close to the metro stations which we loved and great food right around the hotel.
- SG (8/5): Pleasant hotel in great area - A comfortable and pleasant hotel in the lively Montparnasse area. Perfect location. Everything you need right on the street. Easy access to 3 or 4 metro lines. Helpful staff, nice salon space, a great shower and a quiet room with a courtyard view. Downside: wifi wasn't good from our room, but fine from lobby areas.
- Verified traveler (6/5): room too small and old - My room was too small, even by parisian standards. With the suitcase in the room there was no way to get to the other side of the bed by foot. The room had a small balcony type thing, but not a real balcony. The shower drain was clogged, so while showering I had to stand in dirty water coming out of the pipes. That just was not cool. The location is great though. Within easy walking distance from two metro stattions and the Luxembourg gardens.
