Guest Reviews
- Les (8/5): - Characterful old house, helpful host, great scenery. Bumpy driveway, ill fitting doors.
- Abigail (5/5): -
- VanSkiver (8/5): We enjoyed are stay at Penygilli Apartments. We highly recommend this accommodation. - Location and country setting. All was good.
- Sue (7/5): Good for a short stay in a lovely quiet part of Powys. - Lovely quiet area, room was nice a cool in the heatwave we were having. The bed was very comfortable. It needs updating in places as it’s dated. The shower isn’t easy to get in and out of due to it being high off the ground.
- Emma (10/5): We really enjoyed our stay, we had a peaceful and much needed restful stay, wales is beautiful! - Our host was there to meet us, she was very friendly and accommodating, thankyou Nothing
- Madeleine (9/5): Don’t let first impressions sway you as this is a little gem of a place. - Lovely big room with comfortable bed. Well equipped kitchen and clean modern bathroom. It is very much off the beaten track and first impressions aren’t great as it looks a decidedly unkempt from outside. However, don’t let that put you off as the room was lovely and just what we needed to attend a wedding at a near by venue. Outside space could do with a tidy as it kinda resembles a junk yard.
- Lucinda (8/5): Pleasant and comfortable self contained apartment -
- Eirlys (9/5): -
- janet (9/5): My son and I stayed in the twin suite and absolutely loved it. - Quiet, comfortable, Val was lovely and helpful. Nothing
- VLB966 (10/5): Mid Wales Delight - A beautiful old farm house, which reminded me of something from the "Bronte Books" a warm and very inviting welcome from the family who live on site. We were overwhelmed with such a personal and pleasent welcome. Beautiful Views were outstanding and so lovely rural and quiet. Fast internet, easy parking, hot power shower and comfortable beds all make life better when staying away from home. We will certainly return here next time we are in the area.
- Jennifer (9/5): Lovely stay with views for miles. Comfortable and spacious, we’d stay again - Spacious, very clean and tidy. Well presented with everything we needed for our weekend away. Great communication from hosts. Short walk to the local town. We’d stay again! Thank you There’s nothing we didn’t like but just to say the shower unit is very small and the bathroom door is a bit temperamental so we didn’t shut it fully. This wasn’t a problem for us though and we didn’t feel the need to mention it to the hosts.
- Wells (10/5): Awesome stay in a wonderful place. - We really enjoyed how welcomed we felt, and how great the location was. The room was fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone staying in the Newtown area Nothing to mention! You won't be in the town center, but this is no bad thing for us.
- SOPHIE (10/5): Comfy, clean and very welcoming - Really friendly family who made us feel really welcome. Spotlessly clean, very comfy beds. Only slight downside was no oven (though there is a microwave oven combination) and maybe a bigger frying pan would have been useful. But everything else was brilliant.
- Farleigh (8/5): Very good - Everything Shower tray needed new silicone
- Huw (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amy (10/5): Great stay, thank you! - Stayed as it was local to a wedding venue and our friend was getting married. Great property and very friendly hosts. Thank you!
- Marta (10/5): Exceptional - The owners were lovely people. The bed was very comfortable and the access to our own kitchen and bathroom. For a short stay you have all the utensils to prepare a meal.
- Marjorie (8/5): Very good - Very comfortable accommodation in a peaceful setting, with lovely countryside views. Our hosts, Zoe, Phil, and Zoe's mum, were very friendly and helpful.
- Aaron (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anthony (9/5): We enjoyed being there - Tranquil setting. Access up a rural lane
- Joanna (8/5): Very good -
- Carl (7/5): Basic, clean, adequate….. probably ideal for a single nights stay - How independent they were, I was left to my own devices It was a little to far from the town to walk for anything, maybe a welcome to just let you feel comfortable
- Simon (6/5): - Very quiet and pretty location, but not really walkable from town. The room was
- Samuel (7/5): Good -
- Harding (10/5): Friendly welcome - The views from around our room Road was a bit bumpty
- René (10/5): Exceptional - The apartment is in a lovely country house, with all its characteristics. Great view over the hills. The host was attentive and gave some good suggestions.
It is a great place for staying a couple of nights and exploring Mid Wales The driveway is a bit rough, so be careful if you drive a lowered sports car
- James (8/5): Excellent friendly hosts in Phil and Zoe with whom we spent a lovely few hours chatting and drinking - Lovely quiet location and lovely friendly hosts wiould definitely stay there again
- Jean (8/5): Super, clean, excellent accommodation but let down by poor access - Lovely clean accommodation, very well equipped and in a rural quiet location not too far from Newport. Perfect for us. The owners were friendly and helpful The road up to the house was a single track road. The drive up to the property was in a poor condition and needed some repair work.
- Jo (8/5): Calm & Beautifully Considered - Beautiful location. Friendly people. Lovely dogs. Nice cat. Easy hit from town. Very quiet despite being close to the town bypass. The view from the rooms was more than perfect. Clean room nicely put together. Good kitchen for a short stay. Scary country lane location was either good or bad depending on your take. Don't bother trying on a Sunday evening. Newtown pubs are dreadful too.
- Rebecca (10/5): Phil and Zoe were very efficient making our stay stress free such as booking taxis for our event. They were very good at - Clean, bright, colourful and great size. Quiet surroundings
- Liam (7/5): Good apartments, but far from the centre of Newtown - Apartment was a good size and in good condition Location is far further from the centre of Newtown than it looks - 45 minute walk on difficult roads. Taxis or a car is needed
- Katja (9/5): Relaxing country stay - The front door was open and the keys to our room were in the door. Lovely big bed, big window in the room that let the sun in so we could enjoy our morning coffee in bed.
- Elen (10/5): Exceptional - Really nice apartment. Whole apartment was perfectly clean, bed was very comfortable. Kitchen had everything one needed for a short stay. Lovely quiet rural location.
- Michal (10/5): Just the right place in Newtown. - Zoe & Phil are very attentive, we've been looked after throughout the stay. The place is very, very clean with modern touches yet traditional Welsh. Location to Newtown is super convenient, whether on foot or by car. The farm itself is in a tranquil valley surrounded by hills with grazing sheep.
Will definitely be our first choice when coming next.
Thank you, Zoe & Phil.
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional - Super towels and shower.
Everything I need for my stay was available
- Lucy (9/5): Superb -
- Kitching (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely peaceful location, but still just a 5 minute drive in to Newtown. Clean and comfortable apartments, views are beautiful and lovely gardens.
- Annabel (9/5): Great apartment for doing your own thing in a quiet location. - Apartment with kitchen so self catering. Salt and pepper would have been welcome.
Bed huge and very comfortable. Lovely quiet location and beautiful views of rolling countryside. Maybe a comfy chair in the bedroom?
- Prince (9/5): Superb -
- Ross (5/5): after five weeks traveling the UK this was the worst by far, needs a lot of work to get it to standard for a competitive - not a lot property was a junk yard, 5 spiders in the bathroom on arrival, the facilities were average at best
- Laura (9/5): Just what my son and I needed - The facilities were top notch, and both the people and their animals were very welcoming and friendly
- Rebecca (8/5): Overall we enjoyed the stay and would likely recommend (a car would be required) - Good communication with host before arrival. Easy access to the room (key was left in the apartment door for us). The room was cleaned to a high standard and the kitchen was useful. The house is located in a beautiful setting. We enjoyed saying hello to the owners cats and puppy in the front garden. We were left to come and go as we pleased. If we had to be picky we would say that the hot water supply to the shower didn't seem to be hot enough for one of us (the other guess didn't have a problem with it however). Also, the hairdryer was old and worn and actually broke part way through using it for the first time. A replacement would have been good but no big deal as we were only staying a short time.
- Carol (9/5): Superb place to unwind - Quietness and solitude yet surprisingly near to amenities Only little niggle for me was no oven.
- Susan (9/5): Great little home away from home. - Good communication; Easy check in; generous hosts (cleaning materials, tea and coffee, tea towels etc); lovely flat. -
- Les (4/5): Disappointing - Clean and tidy rooms Kerb appeal was poor front door untidy, rubbish bins left at the front, the view from the cracked kitchen window of rubbish on the roof ,the garden furniture was not particularly tidy.
Could not find anybody when leaving to say thank you and hand key in
- Adrian (10/5): Excellent stay - My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights for pleasure and cannot fault our experience. The apartment was perfect for our needs and spacious. Lovely view of gardens and countryside. Rooms clean and nicely decorated. The owners were lovely, really enjoyed meeting them and socialising with them one night in the garden.
- Lisa (10/5): Perfect little getaway - Lovely welcome from the owners... Perfect for what we were after.... Close to Newtown
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Our 2 night stay was very enjoyable. The apartments are so close to the town centre, yet with the views, you would think you were way out in the countryside. The apartment was clean and very comfortable. The amenities were more than excellent, with everything thought of. The home baked bread was much appreciated too. what a great place to stay, thank you Phil and Zoe. We will definitely be using the apartment again.
- Russell (8/5): Good and spacious - The house is a little remote but if you are looking for a quiet place to stay, here would be a good choice. The views are amazing.
- richard (10/5): serious hidden gem - amazing stay, very clean and comfortable. The home baked bread was a real treat!! Will definitely be back again in the future next time i'm in Newtown!!
- Robert (10/5): An ideal base to explore mid wales - Only stayed for a night but the hosts were absolutely fantastic, made us feel exceptionally welcome and the self catering room had everything we needed. The fridge even had a some essentials ready for when we landed! It was a lovely quiet spot tucked out of the way (but not far from Newtown) with green views, and we’d definitely stay again.
- John (10/5): Great room - Large comfortable room with small kitchen area included.
Great facilities and service.
Home made bread supplied and breakfast in room.
- Phill (10/5): Town and country in one lovely space - Brilliant place so close to Newtown and so much in the heart of the country too. Very comfortable apartment with a very well organised kitchen and great ensuite too. Friendly enthusiastic staff and a welcoming glass of Port too!
- Simon (6/5): Not as convenient for Newtown as we hoped - We booked this accommodation as it was the only available in Newtown where we were attending a wedding. The hope was that we would be able to walk back after the wedding reception, but it turns out to be nearly 2 miles from the town centre down a long, dark, steep single track road full of potholes and is very hard to find. It is also not a hotel but an apartment, although a basic breakfast is provided. The room itself was pleasantly decorated although the building itself is in need of refurbishment.
- Stefanie (10/5): Gorgeous property and amazing service!!! - Beyond amazing hosts!!!!
- Ian Stephen (10/5): - Friendly hospitality, premises work in progress, however our accommodation was most appreciated. Also independent breakfast facility well catered and suited us personally. Wish the proprioters every success.
