- Taylor (9/5): Another great stay at a favourite hotel. - As regulars of the hotel we always have a lovely stay. The location is impeccable with stunning views of high tor itself and it's a short pleasant walk into Matlock itself. There are plenty of rooms with different prices to please everyone. The hotel itself is glamorous and photogenic. The staff were pleasant and I had no issues with cleanliness. I was disappointed to see that the hotel restaurant has changed and miss the steak they used to serve. I appreciate you can't please everyone but it would have been great if they still had the previous menu. Breakfast is nice but priced separately from the room now.

- Lisa (10/5): Very pleasant stay, 5 to 10 minute walk to all matlocks amenities. - Rooms are spotless. great place to stay for Matlock or Matlock Bath. This was our second stay here and would definatley recommend staying here.
- Claire (4/5): Expected more for my money - Location Plenty of parking Dirty linen outside room Wasn't told we had to pre order breakfast so missed the deadline. However, they did kindly book 2 of us in. Wasnt a lot lf choice, only white bread. Very small room. Only 1 toilet roll at a time!
- Trevor (9/5): Friendly, comfortable great location - Friendly staff and comfortable enough and location was ideal to walk to Matlock or Matlock Bath The drive was very slippery because of the over hanging trees as you approached the hotel , our group were on motorbikes ! It just needs sweeping

Nothing was too much trouble. - The property is just over a 10 minute straight walk to the promenade and the Heights of Abraham. There is an Indian restaurant within the hotel which is worth a visit. There is an excellent choice of food on the menu. The room itself was very clean and welcoming, with a nice spacious en suite bathroom. There wasn’t anything not to like.
- Philip (3/5): Very poorly run-not really a Hotel and spoiled a 4 day holiday to what is a beautiful area. - The breakfast was served late and burnt! The room was not cleaned or towels changed until we complained after 3 nights. The bins weren’t emptied or bed made. An alarm went off at 3.30am and we had to phone someone to come and deal with it. This was an electrical fault which continued. The beer pumps in the bar weren’t working and food was not available every evening. Poor English speaking staff which made communication difficult.

Hope the manager addresses the issues. - Location very good 10mins walk to Matlock bath main street, Matlock town 15 mins walk Manager was new but was friendly. Decor, lounge, bar and landing nice. Shower good. Paid for breakfast £12.99 each. Tasteless cooked sausage, brown crisped cooked broken egg, no juice, no bread to toast. Only offered toast with the continental breakfast. Luke warm food. next to nothing on the continental breakfast area cereals only and that was it.. Boxes full of wires dumped in front of the breakfast bar, table stacked full of all sorts of kitchenware., very untidy. Coffee machine not working . The 2 days we were there, pizza and food left outside a room, next to us. Bed was comfy but pillows not so. Cracked toilet, lots of mold in the bathroom., dirty, needed a good clean Outside seating area overgrown, rubbish scattered around. Left hotel early even though we paid for 2 nights

If it's a permanent reception issue then advertise those rooms as no TV and offer a discount. No soap in the bathroom but I didn't bring it to their attention and if I did they would have sorted. They offered to look at TV but I said it was fine so not a problem with the management.

Enough parking for the amount of guests at the time but could be an issue if busier. Room had no view, and sloping roof, felt a little claustrophobic.

I didn't use the restaurant, so I can't say anything about that. The price was very good. The hotel is in a beautiful area too. I will definitely be going back.

- Phillips (7/5): Ok for one night but overly expensive for overall quality - The hotels location was very convenient, the bed was incredibly comfy and the staff are very helpful and polite. I don't like being pressured to pick a breakfast order the night before, we may not be that hungry so don't want to make a decision the night before, on check in we were asked repeatedly to choose breakfast order. Unfortunately the coffee machine had broken so only instance coffee at breakfast, this was completely acceptable. When we went down for breakfast, we had to ask for instant coffee, it was not offered. I am sure there was a temporary blip, but still contributed to a less than perfect stay. The bedroom was rather cold when we arrived, windows wide open, when we went to close the windows we found they did not shut properly meaning it was rather noisey, we were road side in an eves room. The heater on the wall was broken so a pluggin heater was provided which was ample for for the room. The bathroom was also cold and had a very odd smell to it. For one night we could tolerate it but for longer I would have wanted to be moved.

- Emma (9/5): A beautiful little spot to relax and take in the views, gorgeous architecture. - Great staff, very friendly and helpful. The location was beautiful and the hotel very quaint and idyllic, great for my hiking trip and not far from amenities and tourism spots for Matlock bath. My attic room was beautiful and just right for me, lovely design and clean, cosy and comfortable. The food in the Indian restaurant was one of the best curries I have had in a long time and the service was great and reasonably priced. Lovely sitting area and lobby with a lovely aquarium to look at. Thank you for a wonderful time 🙏☺️ The only thing I would change is the outside seating area could do with better up keep, more visuals, plants etc and more of a seating area or space to relax with the awesome views just over the road. Would definitely stay again and plan to in the future.

There was a mark on the carpet in my room that looked like a scorch mark from an iron, there was a hole in the bottom bedsheet, the bedside lamp didn't work and neither did the tv.

Loads of parking and easy access to Matlock or Matlock bath. We decided to eat in the restaurant, authentic Indian food, very nicely presented and good value for money although if you don't like spice ask them to make it less spicy my sister nearly spat hers out 😌breakfast was nice with a good choice. Will definitely visit again. Nothing negative to say

- Lucie (9/5): Overall extremely happy - The honeymoon suite was super spacious and spotless, the bath was huuuge and so was the bed, the staff were incredible, stunning area I stayed for 2 nights and was expecting the room to be cleaned after the first night (bin emptied, bed made, tea/coffee/sugar/milk replenished) this didn’t happen, also for £240 I think there could be some bottled water in the room

If we had known about the restaurant before booking, we would of eaten there. It did smell good. Will definitely give a try next time. Only downside for us was there wasn't a lift to rooms. We had to carry the pram upstairs.

- Christina (8/5): Lovely - would return. - The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was okay. The hotel is bright and spacious. The location was great from my social engagements and just a 10-20 minute walk from everything I needed. The pillows were very close to the where the ceiling slopes down - luckily I'm on the short side. I would have liked a mirror in the area I could move around in. There were mirrors but also a beam which meant I could not manoeuvre easily.

- Burgum (8/5): - The location was good and my room had been refurbished (mum and dads next door hadn't!). Location is in the middle of matlock and matlock bath so within easy reach. One booking, two rooms next door to eachother, one revamped one not. Only one member if staff. My room was very hot, although there was an air con machine to use once I'd figured it out!

The breakfast wasn't good value for money at all. The Continental breakfast was a joke really. Just cereal, yogurt. No fruit. Had to ask for fruit and he gave me a chopped up apple. - Valkass (9/5): Lovely hotel but wish there was more option on breakfast - The staff were lovely and the size of the 4 bed room was fantastic, as I have teenage boys. They loved it. The room we were in was fine for the duration and somewhat smaller. The guys who was on service was a lovely chap and was bending over backward to help out if asked. The hotel has a lovely feel to it and has been taken over by new management this year 2025, So there's room for improvement, but I would definitely go there again, if the opportunity arose. It's a beautiful hotel inside and a restful place to visit. The hotel is in Matlock Bath and although on the outskirts, is in an ideal place for families wanting to visit lots of places with kids. There are lots of places to eat nearby in Matlock and Matlock Bath, it is well placed for Chatsworth house and other places too. It was easy to navigate to on Google Maps which made life much easier too. The property is very well decorated and it looks fantastic inside. I loved the auqrium and fish in reception. I could have done with a few more tea bags and milks in bith rooms. There were drinks for 2 people in the 4 bed room and there were 3 lids in there. The variety for the buffet breakfast wasn't very big for the price. I would have liked a savory option eg marmite or philedelphia to put on the toast, but it was butter or sweet items., and the price for what was available was excessive. The towels had been placed in the shower to be replaced but weren't replaced until requested. It appearred that there was only one member of staff at any time whilst we were there as it was over Xmas and New Year. He seemed somewhat oversubscribed. Accessibility issues for people with disabilities, I am on a walking stick and found all the stairs difficult to navigate, but on the bright side, the stairs aren't too steep so carrying things up and down isn't too difficult.
- Lauren (10/5): - The location as central to matlock, 15mins walk into town, we liked friendly welcome, being on the same level as our friends so we was all close together, bed comfortable, 11am check out was great as some places are 9.30am or 10am so that extra time in the room we liked, big enough rooms and all ensuite, parking is great, enough spaces for all. We didn't use the bar or restaurant so cannot comment on the quality of this. All in all a fabulous stay. Room 9, We couldnt find any tea spoons for our cup of tea in the morning, the toilet didnt have a loo roll holder so loo roll left on the side it had all the fixtures so maybe recently broken. These are just me being picky. Didn't effect our stay.

- Peter (4/5): Fortunately we only needed somewhere to sleep as we were visiting family in Matlock. - Decent shower. Pleasant walk into the centre of Matlock, though the shortest route took us twice the time suggested on the web site despite walking at a very normal speed. Poky room - but it was cheap. Not large enough for a double room, little hanging space, no chair. Impossible to stand on one side of bed as roof too low. Full English breakfast very disappointing. Poor quality sausages, very small egg, so-so bacon... The second day we had breakfast in Matlock.
- Franc (7/5): Worth the money, if a little lacking in finesse! - Room was acceptable, bed was extremely comfortable and very large! Excellent shower with horizontal jets as well as the usual top rose. Breakfast was also acceptable but see downsides below! Staff (one poor guy who looked a bit stressed!) very polite and friendly but again see downsides. Great location, although the "room with mountain view" was a little over-described when the view was in fact the car park and a cliff opposite! Altogether though, worth the money! There are many bad reviews of this place which I feel are a little unfair. I would guess that the owners are struggling a little to keep their heads above water, and this is reflected in the service they can provide. Facilities were acceptable if a little lacking in finesse - the original windows (presumably retained because of the listed status) were somewhat grubby behind the internal secondary glazing and the toilet bowl was not properly attached to the floor! The recently refurbished bathroom was very tastefully done apart from the usual hotel fault of having absolutely nowhere to put personal toiletries, toothbrushes, etc., except on top of the toilet cistern which was at the opposite end of the room to the wash basin. The chap who attended us was very polite and friendly but evidently not particularly highly trained in the hospitality business. Breakfast was perfectly edible but a little disappointing in that the £12 omelette was served flat on a plate with no trimmings whatsoever. Very tasty though! One last thought - please provide a proper remote for the TV which would allow access to all the offered streaming channels and facilities rather than a "one-for-all" which is not programmed properly to the set and would only allow on/off, volume and channel changing!
