Guest Reviews
- Jim (10/5): Excellent! - Everything!
- Richard (10/5): -
- lockwood (10/5): Lovely little cottage. - Amazing little cottage with all amenities one could need Nothing we didn’t like
- Helen (9/5): -
- Holly (9/5): - The property was perfect for two people. It was in a great location perfect for a get away. The cottage was really cosy with a lovely shower and comfy beds.
- Richard (6/5): Disappointing but we managed. The owner was very friendly. - Friendly owner. Cleanliness. Good location for us. Very small overall and lack of storage space
- Selina (10/5): Such a lovely place to stay and really well designed / supplied and v convenient for everything. - Lovely welcoming hosts. Really comfortable and relaxed accommodation - well equipped with everything we needed. Especially the delicious bread from the delightful next door bakery! The WiFi was not secure enough for our devices needing to be higher WP something?! It didn’t matter as we were having the weekend off from them! Cushions for the outdoor chairs would also be nice? Not a big thing and just a thought rather than “not liked”
- Mark (10/5): Friendly, comfortable and clean - Everything was better than expected.
Just the type of place we love.
- Peter (10/5): -
- Adrienn (10/5): A perfect little cottage! Thoughtfully prepared, with everything you need for a comfortable stay! - I had a lovely stay at this cottage! The landlord was incredibly nice and welcoming, and they really took care of everything in advance, even heating up the place before my arrival, which was such a thoughtful touch. They also left some breakfast treats for me (bread, butter, jam, juice, milk etc), which was extremely handy since I was attending a course nearby and didn’t have time to go shopping. It was so nice to have something ready for breakfast in the morning!
The bed was extremely comfy! I’ve been sleeping terribly lately, but I slept 10 hours on the first night and woke up feeling completely refreshed. The cottage itself is very cosy, warm, and bright, just a really comfortable space to be in.
There’s also a bakery just next to the cottage (literally a 2-minute walk), which was another lovely bonus. The kitchen was well equipped. I cooked there a few times and it had everything I needed.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area!
- Ackland (10/5): -
- Christian (9/5): -
- Simon (9/5): - Lovely apartment and being able to use the extensive garden was really excellent
Very good and pro active communication with property management
- Graham (9/5): Excellent accomodation with good communication from the hosts - breakfast was diy, food provided was excellent. Went to the bakery the hosts use at the end of the lane and bought bread and cakes to take home. nothing
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - We found Munden House, just perfect for the two of us. The facilities were clean, user friendly, the location was just right for our needs. Nothing
- Muberra (10/5): I will definitely come back again to pet all the cats and take a deep breath. - Amazing place to stay, if there is an Eden on earth, here it is. Amazing lovely couple, incredible garden, clean little cottage with comfy bed. Nothing
- Janet (10/5): Attention to detail shows in all aspects of this property! - Location was perfect for us. Quiet and peaceful. We live in a very quiet rural area and need to stay in this type of property to sleep without noise disturbance.
Bed was very comfortable. Excellent shower, plentiful hot water with high end toiletries.
Continental breakfast more than adequate with homemade produce. Nothing!
- Elliefelicity (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (10/5): Would recommend - Very smart and tidy and peaceful
- Emily (10/5): Exceptional - We loved our stay at Munden House. We were sadly only staying for 1 night but the cottage was lovely - spotlessly clean, and the owners left wonderful fresh breakfast items for us. So nice to be so close to Sherborne as well which is beautiful. Would definitely love to go back and visit!
- Jenkins (10/5): Exceptional - Stay for the weekend, lovely little cottage, very clean,, beautiful area, would definitely recommend
- Kai (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marlene (10/5): Beautiful barn/cottage with character and modern comforts. - The beautiful cottage. Low chairs in dining room.
- Joy (9/5): Comfortable and enjoyable - Everything! It was dark when we arrived and difficult to identify the cottage
- Vincent (10/5): Beautiful cottage in great location - Cottage was lovely easy to find and great location. Owners met us and were very friendly and helpful Small sofa which turned into a bed but not comfy as a sofa as I have a bad back, no other chairs so I ended up having to lie on floor
- Daniel (10/5): Fantastic accommodation - Property was very clean, the bed was very comfortable and excellent communication with Property owners prior to arrival. There was a great variety in the breakfast they provided. It was a great location. Definitely will come back. Nothing
- Jennifer (10/5): Excellent - It was very well appointed and so welcoming. Great place to stay, we loved it.
- Dave (10/5): Couldn’t have been better! - Spotlessly clean, very comfortable bed, excellent breakfast supplied.
- Harry (9/5): Superb -
- Myles (10/5): Lovely stay with a welcoming host. Would stay again -
- G (10/5): Excellent comfortable cottage with lovely garden - Lovely comfortable bed. TV with Netflix (if you need it - we didn’t, too busy) for a rainy day. Quiet location, but near enough to towns for any necessary items and close to the Fleet Air Arm museum and Bovington Tank museum - if either takes your fancy. Nothing
- Brian (9/5): A really great place for a comfortable peaceful stay - Very nice welcome from the host, the cottage was very well appointed and had everything you could want for a great stay.
Great bakery a few steps away.
Overall an excellent stay Only minus for us was not enough hanging space for clothes
- Ann (9/5): Superb -
- Luke (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laurie (10/5): Very helpful owners ensured we had everything we needed. - Rural, comfortable. Lovely breakfast provided. Splendid gardens. Nothing.
- Rose (10/5): It was a great place to stay if you want to be Sherborne but not in the town its self. - We stayed at Munden barn I couldn't have been happier. Hight quality produce for us to have when we arrived . The style and the bedding was comfortable with a high end feel.
- Rosina (10/5): Just lovely - Beautiful location Nothing
- Dionne (10/5): Exceptional - Stunning place to stay couldn't fault the place will definitely stay again 😁
- Nicola (7/5): Good -
- Stephen (10/5): Perfect for a short break, wonderful surroundings, great hosts. - Dairy Cottage is a very well done conversion of part of the range of buildings associated with Munden House. Colin and Annie are attentive hosts and provide a really good environment in which to relax and enjoy this stunning part of southern England. There are plenty of opportunities for walks, including into nearby Sherborne, but it is hilly! Oxford's Bakery is right next door offering breads and cakes (otherwise buy them in their shop in Sherborne) and also teas / coffees etc. Breakfast in Dairy Cottage is provided, really nice. Nothing. But you will need a car if you don't want to walk everywhere.
- Heather (10/5): Excellent comfort and surroundings - A lovely cosy and comfortable little cottage set in a quiet and pretty courtyard. It's in a small village just a very short drive from Sherborne and is a good location for visiting other interesting parts of Dorset and Somerset. Very friendly welcome from the owner who had provided a good DIY breakfast. Nicely decorated , lovely big soft bath sheets for the shower.
- Gary (10/5): Exceptional - Clean, lovely decor, peace and quiet Nothing .
- Vanessa (10/5): Lovely cottage with everything you need for a mini vacation! - Very comfortable and clean
- Tim (7/5): We had a comfortable stay in a lovely little cottage, but it did not quite suit our needs. - We like the location as we are very familiar with the area and have stayed previously several years ago. The shower room was excellent. The bed was comfortable We were disappointed with the Breakfast as we did expect a little more as a luxury Continental , ( It did not help that it was advertised as with breakfast for both nights when we made the reservation). We felt that it was more of a welcome package for self catering. We did discuss this with you and in fairness, you did tell us that Booking.Com had made a mistake in their advertising of Munden House.
The sofa does need a little more thought, it was extremely low and as two people of the older generation, we could not get up from the sofas!!
- James (8/5): Very good - Good bed nice quiet location
- Glen (10/5): Perfect property, so comfortable, beautifully presented, and everything you need. Will return. - Second time staying, and absolutely wonderful once again. Beautiful property in a lovely location, with the added benefit of some healthy fresh produce for breakfast.
- Mandy (10/5): Excellent little cottage - If driving perfectly appointed to visit Sherborne and surrounding areas as 7 min drive Fully equipped and beautiful decor and furniture. Gorgeous comfy large bed. Ensuite shower room and toilet with lovely big fluffy white towels and large enclosed powerful shower, toiletries supplied which was a lovely touch. Everywhere was cosy, considering I stayed on a cold January night the whole cottage was warm and welcoming. Annie even checked what time I was arriving so she could ensure it was warm for me when I checked in. I spent the evening on the comfy sofa watching TV. The kitchen is fully equipped and a continental breakfast available in the fridge. I chose to make myself some toast with the fresh loaf and really enjoyed the blackcurrant jam, home made by Annie, it was delicious! Being able to park next to the cottage under it's own car port was a bonus when moving bags in and out as protected from the elements. The check in using the key box was simple and effective. My hosts were really helpful and even checked with me the following morning everything had been as I hoped. Can't fault anything and would highly recommend. Nothing I didn't like.
If I had to think of anything please move a mug to the lower shelf or worktop, as being a short arse, I had to use a wooden spoon handle to be able to reach and hook into the handle of the mug to pull it out of the cupboard 🤣 or provide a step, but I've found the spoon works well if it has a standard handle, and takes up less space than a step, so you had thought of everything.
- Glen (9/5): Perfect property, so comfortable, beautifully presented, and everything you need. Will return. - Lovely quiet location, character property, super cosy, lovely breakfast, great communication from host. On site parking, comfy bed with lovely bedding. Faultless. Nothing!
- Rebecca (9/5): Superb - Lovely little cottage. Comfy bed. Na
- Bill (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Deborah (9/5): Superb - Beautiful location and peaceful with a very handy veranda you can sit under in all weathers ( we took a travel blanket to place on bench - uber comfort 🙂)
The summer house catered for all our needs with a very comfortable bed!
The kitchen has all the cooking equipment you require should you wish to cook ( we had lovely pasta dish on one evening ) a full size fridge freezer with the lovely fresh local produce was provided in the fridge ready for the breakfast morning
This consisted of homemade rhubarb compote/good quality yoghurts/butter/eggs/orange juice/jams/milk and bottled water! A fresh loaf in breadbin from the local bakery!
Particulary liked that recyling was encouraged and a box left to place used bottles/card ect along with a small caddy for used teabags/eggshells/fruit & veg
A very good idea!
The bathroom had a powerful rain type shower with lovely egyption cotton towels provided
A comfortable sofa and TV with netfix
Wifi provided
Home from home but with lovely views!
We visited Sherborne town ( 5 min drive ) with its great cathederal and nice shops with alot of bakerys!
We had a great stay and look forward to a return visit ! Nothing not to like!
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional - We have stayed at munden house many times over the years Annie and Colin have always made us feel very welcome and the cottages are always clean and very comfortable looking forward to returning next year
- Jane (10/5): Thoroughly enjoyed and will be returning and recommending to friends - Cosy cottage, perfect for 2 for short break
- Amy (10/5): Lovely relaxing cottage getaway - Beautiful cottage really well kitted out with lovely extra special bits like the bread. Bed was super comfy. Only a short drive to the abbey and shops. The shower was fab but I’m a Bath girl. Nothing else I could say I didn’t like
- Linda (6/5): pleasant location within easy reach of Sherborne and most attractions - Location good and very quiet. The hosts left a nice breakfast with stewed fruit and jams and fresh bread.Well equipped kitchen comfy lounge area. Didn't like that we had no cleaning equipment in the cottage for sinks toilet etc. Also no clean towels so we had to redry them for 3nights they said in the information pack it was due to covid but surely not applicable now.
- Rich (10/5): Excellent weekend break! - Very comfortable and well appointed.
- Paul (10/5): Definitely coming back!! - Quiet. Exceptional. Stylish. Homely. Just outstanding and perfect for a few days or a week! That I couldn’t stay longer
- Gary (10/5): Exceptional - Everything Nothing
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional - Clean, tidy, comfortable and the owners have paid great attention to details. A very pleasant stay. Nothing
- Sandra (6/5): Comfortable and peaceful but will not return. - Lovely fresh bread from bakers next door and milk, jam, tea and coffee supplied.
Quite location
Well decorated. Comfy bed and great shower. Misleading as the summer house was described as holiday home. I would not have booked this if I had known.
It smelt very musty too.
Sign on roadside for location could’ve been better marked - would never have found it in the dark.
- Claire (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage was beautiful, cosy and everything we needed was there.. The grounds were fantastic too.. Fantastic value for money!! Absolutely nothing!!!!
- Kathleen (9/5): Relaxing stay in beautiful location - highly recommended - Everything on one level - great for my elderly parents.

Lovely goodies provided for our breakfast, including stewed fruit from the garden and a fresh loaf from the local bakery.
- Anne (4/5): very nice short stay . - in a very beautiful location, cute cottage with very generous breakfast options and tea , coffee.
Bed comfortable, tv had free Netflix! Shower good and toilet good flush! The sofa was uncomfortable and would liked real chairs for the dinner table. Key safe was hard to work out.

- Burt (10/5): - Absolutely phenomenal place to stay! The owner was so kind and hospitable. The cottage and surrounding land was beautiful. Worth every penny.
- Hazel (10/5): Marvellous stay, thank you. - Just wonderful, really relaxing and comfortable. Annie and John made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We particularly liked meeting the wonderful animals that share their life with them.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely setting, comfy bed, good shower. Kitchen cupboards need tlc - touch them and they collapse but rest of place in good order.
- Robin (10/5): - Stayed in the summer house - it was beautiful, loved the chickens! Breakfast was fab, countryside beautiful. Accommodation perfect, light and airy. Our only suggestion is: my husband has mobility issues and needs a walk in shower.... The bathroom and shower is in keeping with the rest of the accommodation - the shower although is walk in but there are a couple of steps up and it felt quite precarious for him to get in and out - so he was not able to use. You could make this perhaps more clear. But otherwise a clear 10 out of 10.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely and clean, beautiful location and fresh, home-made food. What more could you ask for?!
- steven (10/5): Excellent accommodation in a beautiful setting - This place is just excellent. We had a great time here with our 2 year old daughter. Highly recommended and will forsure be staying here again.

- Steven (10/5): Lovely cottage with nice touches - Very good relaxing break in a clean and pleasant cottage with breakfast ready for us to complete in the morning without having to worry about getting up early or dressed.
- Miss Helen (10/5): A cosy Dorset hideaway - We had a wonderfully relaxed New Year's Eve in the Summer House at Munden House. The wooden cabin is cosy & comfortable with everything you need. We lost WiFi for a while at what point but what do you expect in the countryside! The little welcoming touches and the lovely breakfast really made this trip special.
- Wendy (10/5): Wonderful - Beautiful location and the summerhouse was cosy and comfortable. Ideal for a romantic break.
Lovely garden and we would like to return in the summer to appreciate it fully.
- Clair (8/5): Up-market B&B - Perfectly fine. Clean, well-equipped and up-to-date.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This cottage is everything that you want out of an English Countryside Cottage fantasy. Lovely little pond, chickens running around, lots of privacy, delicious breakfast options, lovely hostess. I could have happily spent a week or more relaxing here. Top notch accommodations.
- Helen (10/5): Peaceful beautifully furnished cottage - Munden House did not disappoint us. In a beautiful, peaceful location. The cottage is beautiful, light, spacious and tastefully decorated and furnished. The upstairs bedroom and bathroom were gorgeous, with a comfortable king size bed, with nice bed linen and feather pillows. An ensuite bathroom with light modern fittings complimented everything else perfectly.
