Guest Reviews
- Paul (10/5): - Big room, good facilities Tv didn't work . Not enough plug points
- simon-james (8/5): Comfortable stay inn the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon - Very friendly staff, great location in the middle of Stratford-upon-Avon. comfortable room
- Philip (7/5): Good value - Great position
Great bedding and towels Pedal bin in room hadn’t been emptied
- Kate (3/5): Good location, basic and not clean. Though beds comfortable… - Location Cleanliness and noise
- Magdalena (8/5): - The location was great. Good value for money. Staff was welcoming and friendly. Check-out was very easy. There was an option for breakfast. Toiletries were provided, extra pillows and towels, all clean and neat. I could use a hook in the bathroom to put the towels somewhere and a hook or a hanger in the room for my coat, but it's really a minor thing.
- Deborah (7/5): Very useful base for an overnight stay - Very good location, street was quiet at night, lovely bed linen Tea, coffee and kettle arrangement very basic, generally ‘no frills’ facilities, as fitting for the price
- Purdie (5/5): Good location, friendly staff but room was sparse and smelled of something like rotten cabbage - Location and staff were great The room (especially the bathroom) smelled of rotten cabbage.
- abbie (4/5): staff was nice, pub was nice but the bedrooms were dusty seemed like didn’t get cleaned for months - close and near to the center dusty and unclean
- John (10/5): -
- Neil (10/5): Great stay - Well positioned and good value Kitchen cut off at 7:00pm caught us out
- Steve (4/5): - The room was very small and poky, which is fine as I was on my own but they had crammed two single beds into a room that was only big enough for one which meant that it was very difficult to get access to the wardrobe such as it was. The wardrobe was very dirty and still had mess in it with only two coat hangers. The bathroom was okay but there were no toilet rolls in the first instance and I couldn't have a shower because the water was scalding hot and nothing I did to the mixer tab made any adjustment. It was like a bed and breakfast from the 1970s, to be honest
(9/5): Great! - Great location, Kind staff, Delicious breakfast Heard sounds till the restaurant closed
- Kari (6/5): -

- Emma (1/5): The worst hotel I have ever stayed in, dirty, filthy, horrible - The location This property was filthy, the carpets had not been vacuumed, the bathroom mat was dirty and the floor was dusty and dirty and when we got into bed a night we realised the sheets were unwashed. My son had a sheet on his bed with a three dimensional curry type stain on it, disgusting. After trying to take this up with the property the following day I received no reply. I then went to booking.com with photographic proof and they cannot do anything about it, I have to take it up with the property who won’t reply. I had expected regular pub noises but the very loud music went on until after 1am. You could feel the base coming through the bed when you laid down. Awful.
- Shannon (8/5): Great for a quick work trip to Stratford on Avon. - Room was small, but cute. Bed was comfy and shower hot and effective. Power sockets weren't located in ideal locations.
- Guest (3/5): - The location was great.
If you're looking for a medieval inn, it'll be a good fit. The shower had burning water and boiling water. Nothing else.
It was loud until midnight from the pub below the inn and the room's door was shoulder high.

- Tracy (8/5): Excellent as always. - We have stayed at the Queen's Head three years in row now when we go to see a play at the RSC. Its convenient location to restaurants and the theatre, as well as the Rother Street car park is a bonus. Staff is helpful, the room is fairly quiet given its central location. Does us well. It really needs some form of shelf in the shower to put the shower gel and shampoo on whilst washing :) Hardly a deal breaker.
- Gillian (8/5): excellent value, great location & friendly staff - cleanliness & staff & comfortable bed stairs are quite awkward, but it is a very old building
- Sandra (9/5): - Check in straightforward.
Bed comfortable.
Plenty hot water for shower
Generous with tea bags!
Location excellent - less than10 mins walk from theatre.
- Gee (10/5): - I had accidentally booked the wrong date and the manager Trevor was so accomodating and changed the date for us no problem. Lovely people 😊
- Frazer (7/5): -
- Neil (9/5): -
- sara (10/5): Comfy stay in a great location - Fabulous location!!! Staff were super friendly and helpful. COMFIEST BED EVER!!!
- Iain (6/5): -
- Derick (9/5): Met our high expectations; we had an earlier exceptional experience 3 years before this visit - Staff very welcoming and friendly; extremely central and great value; a fantastic old building, not ashamed of being old Nothing springs to mind
- Steve (8/5): Still had a good time but was slightly disappointed with the above. - Location and friendly staff Had to buy out own toilet rolls as none in room and could have been cleaner. Also Kettle etc available but only tea as an option no coffee available.
- David (6/5): A cheap bed for the night in a fantastic location. - It's a no fuss and no frills type of accomodation. The room was spacious, the bathroom was a good size also. It's noisy and you can hear every sound made from the bar below. Once that shuts though it's pretty quiet. The bed is 3-4 inches higher on one side than the other and I'm not sure if it was because the mattress is so old and buckled or the building floor is so uneven.
- Krystle (4/5): Disappointing (location aside) - Location to the centre was great. Staff were friendly Bathroom smelled damp/mouldy
Limescale in kettle was bad
Couldn’t get radiator on
- James (3/5): Not the best in town - Handy location for access to RSC theatres. Central heating didn't come on. No hot water in shower, only in sink tap. WiFi code on display in room was not valid. Pre visit query via Booking.com site not responded to. Nowhere in the room to hang a coat or a hanger.
- Christine (6/5): -
- Robert (8/5): - Very comfy bed
Excellent breakfast served earll so I could get train A little dated decor but a fabulously old building of character
- Agnes (8/5): Lovely stay in the town centre - Fantastic location, right in the town centre. The room was good size for two people. Comfortable beds and we apprecieted that the heating was on in the evenings. The rooms are above a pub, so expect some noise in the evenings, but it was usually quiet after 10pm.
- Maxine (1/5): We were booked in for two nights but left after the first night which was very disappointing because it cut our break sh - The landlord was friendly It was absolutely filthy, pillows were stained also the bedding, the toilet didn't flush at all, the bed base was very dirty, there was dust everywhere!
- John (5/5): - Room was a good size with clean linen. The bathroom was clean but did smell a bit from the toilet. The breakfast was very good and the location was excellent! We were expecting there to be some noise as this is a pub with rooms but there was very loud music until 11:30pm which made it impossible to sleep before then. Not really a good place for children. Also, we booked for 2 adults and 2 children including breakfast - however we were told that the breakfast option did not include the children so had to pay a £7.50 surcharge each for them...
- Julie (5/5): - Excellent location near the main attractions; the staff member was friendly and helpful (she brought me a fan heater because the room was so cold) The condition of the room was worse than expected: a lot of mould in the shower, a leaky shower, flickering lights, no hooks for towels or jackets, little shelf space, poor Wi-Fi, and some guests in the courtyard were very noisy
- Sarah (3/5): Could be so good 😊 if money and time is put into the accommodation side . - The two ladies that work there are lovely, very accommodating and the breakfast was lovely-thankyou 🙂 Stayed in room 4 … needs new carpet, new furniture,a good clean everywhere -especially in the shower to get rid of black mould - the art work on the wall is freaky .
Dust was everywhere.. the headboard etc curtain pole, kettle and the tea making basket is full of dust .
WiFi or something in hall way just on floor !? I couldn’t even connect when in room.
- lisa (8/5): Great comfortable good value friendly pub / rooms x - Friendly staff really helpful! Great atmosphere and best pint of Guinness Rooms are bit tired but clean and comfortable and value for money
- DASSANAYAKE MUDIYANSELAGE (5/5): Fair - Staff so kind helpful Noisy place due to down floor bar music
- Broughton (1/5): - There was nothing to like as they double booked us and I had to find alternative accommodation As above
- S (8/5): Will certainly book there again. - The location is excellent as was the breakfast. The room was adequate but would have preferred it to have more ventilation.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Room served it’s purpose - Location, friendliness , freshly decorated room, lovely delicious breakfast First take on room all great, then noticed some areas need a good clean. Floor behind the bathroom door grubby only noticed when door closed, wicker tray with teabags, milk etc very dusty, dust on headboards, I actually wiped mine! Front of chest of drawers, raidiator needs a good dust and wipe down
- Mathew (10/5): Thoroughly enjoyed our stay - Lovely friendly atmosphere Ideal location
- Emma (7/5): -
- Nikki (7/5): - Excellent location
Helpful staff These points are made only because I am registered severely sight impaired
The accommodation was accessed by going through a poorly lit back yard and up a steep angled set of 10 steps.
In the morning I couldn't enter the pub as it was locked and it took me a good 5 minutes of trying doors to realise that there was a small handle in a screened fence that was in fact was a gate.
You then had to walk down three streets to reach the front of the pub where my taxi was.
This arrangement has not been explained to me and thankfully I was doing this in daylight and not after returning late in the evening and finding the place locked up for the night.
- Tim (5/5): -
- Simon (4/5): Great location but needs a good clean - Location Cleanliness of the room
- Valerie (7/5): Value for money - Location was excellent!
Twin room was nice, beds clean and comfortable, nice clean towels.
Staff approachable and friendly. Shower floor was slippy when stepping in, could do with rubber non slip matt.
Hooks on doors would be useful to hang coats on.
- David (7/5): - The location It was very basic and being used as an hostel
- Susan (1/5): Think it was being used as a hostel never ever again will I stay in a B and B put me off for life. - Location Poor facilities and room dirty. Accommodation above a pub so noise expected but unbearable noise shouting intimidating and scared things would escalate. Fire alarm activated due to clothes dryer in corridor smelling of burning. Couldn’t wait to get out of the place. Young Child left in the next room alone with two dogs she was petrified.
- Amanda (7/5): Over all ok night stay did the job - Location was amazing.. in the middle of of everywhere to get around ..
pub was good but room was a little let down …sorry to say the bath room was very smelly made me feel sick and could smell even with door shut …because was a little chubby but sheets were clean .. Bathroom smelt very bad made me feel sick …perhaps cramp mouldy smell .l
- Ann (8/5): -
- naomi (7/5): -
- Joanna (2/5): The pub is NOT a 3-4 star stay. It was very disappointing. - The breakfast was pleasant The first room l was given was cold, l found a spare duvet in a cupboard but this was soiled. I asked for new duvet and was given another room. The 2nd room had faeces in the toilet. The toilet brush was soiled and dirty. The room smelt very musty and damp.
- Nathalie (1/5): -
- Mark (7/5): -
- Bernadett (7/5): -
- Lucy (5/5): Both quick easy fixes - Shower mouldy
Bathroom door wouldn’t shut
- Lucy (10/5): -
- Carol (8/5): Helpful staff. Great location. - Helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble.
Excellent location for all amenities. Unfortunately the room was under going some renovation work so it wasn't at its best. Saying that there was a new carpet and furniture.
- Pam (9/5): -
- Margaret (7/5): Comfort on a budget for a traveller on their own. - Location good for the theatres. Breakfast more than adequate. Small and comfy, staff very good and friendly. I slept like a log !! Can't say there was anything i actually didn't like !
- Chris (2/5): -
- Lisa (9/5): would stay again - really easy check in and check out. excellent location and very close to the theatre. i loved the character of the building and the room. the en suite was very good. kind of noisy outside early in the morning - it woke me at about 6.30am.
- Sarah (9/5): Enjoyed my stay . Second time we have stayed there - They didn’t serve breakfast . The location was perfect Room was abit cold , radiator didn’t work . Shower was cold in the morning
- Tracy (9/5): This is the second time we have stayed at the Queen's Head, and we have enjoyed it both times :) - The room, although on the ground floor, was quiet and comfortable. The Queen's Head is ideally located to get to the main tourist area of Stratford, such as restaurants and the theatre.
- Clive (3/5): Disappointing-only saved by the wonderful town. - Location was very convenient for the town. Extremely noisy until 2am outside.
Fan didn't work.
Somebody tried to get in to my room at 6.45am-luckily the door was locked.
TV control didn't work very well-had to get close to change channels etc.
Shower dirty and control broken.
- margaret (2/5): Very disappointed only stayed one night and left - Room on ground floor As we checked in were told no breakfast and refunded money, one of the reasons we booked as it included breakfast, room very dated no headboard window opens on to street so could not open it
- Ruth (1/5): -
- Brian (10/5): Good value for money - Staff and customers were extremely friendly I will certainly come againn Nothing
- Y (9/5): -
- Cain (4/5): -
- Karen (8/5): - Lovely old pub
Staff were great No parking
- Janet (1/5): Avoid this hotel it’s disgusting, the only thing was the location - Only the location This property was horrible, it smells, wasn’t clean and very cold, the radiator in the dirty bathroom wasn’t working we had to turn it on and was only half warm, the radiator in the bedroom wasn’t very warm, and when we returned from our night out it was freezing no heating on at all and it was -3 outside
- hayley (8/5): -
- John (9/5): Happy travellers. - Great location and great staff. Loud music until 11pm.
- Julia (8/5): No frills, no breakfast included, but the room was more than adequate and the location excellent. - Close to the town centre, comfy, wi-fi (this wasn't available the last time I stayed here). I would recommend the Queen's Head to others. A live music event in the bar below my room kept me awake until midnight. The bedside lamp produced such a dim light it was useless.
- Toyne (7/5): - Noise from the bar - VERY LOUD Xmas Music!
- Lucy (9/5): Great pre-Christmas stay - The location was great and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. The room was comfortable and clean. The pub was also lovely with a great atmosphere. Huge breakfast! The family room was advertised as having a sofa bed big enough for two small children. The bed was not big enough for our 9 and 6 year old to share comfortably
- Hilary (9/5): It was ideal for what we required, and was totally value for money. - The room was clean, facilities were value for money, the position in the town was ideal. We were pleased with everything that was provided. It was rally near the car park.
- Susan (6/5): Convenient - Location and value @£60 It was fine
- Cecilia (9/5): -
- Vicky (10/5): - Standard 2 beds in a room with shower and toilet above a quaint pub - a bit of old town charm and history. Breakfast included which was great. If you want the Ritz this is not it however it was a vibrant pub for many locals on a Saturday night. .
- Ann (9/5): - Staff friendly and helpfull , in walking distance of everything , breakfast good 👍👍
- Karen (6/5): - Great location
Ncp car park at the back of the pub
Pub does food Room wasn't very clean
The noise from the bar was horrendous you needed head phones on to sleep
A can of coke was nearly £3
The room was very cold at night
- alison (4/5): I don’t think I’ll stay there again - The location was excellent, and the staff were friendly There was no Internet in the room: I was told they were waiting for an engineer. Also, the light over the bathroom basin did not work
- Jeremy (9/5): Had a great time - Location first class. Staff all very nice. Room had all you need.
- Judy (10/5): Great, will hopefully be back next year - Nice staff, comfy bed, warm & cosy
- opera tourist (7/5): OK for an expensive area - Near town centre bright orange street light fixed to wall on all night! room contnually bathed in orange glow. Noisy outside until midnight. Bathroom had not been cleaned since previous guest - used toiletries spread around. Not worth £90!
- Cameron (8/5): Overall it was perfect for what I needed. - Great location, had all the facilities I required. Some things such as the shower could have been a bit cleaner.
- Raymond (7/5): - Ideal locationk Nothing really
