Guest Reviews
- MariaVF_12 (4/5): Beautiful Historic Building - Beautiful old building, but sadly in serious need of renovation. It feels like a ghost house—quite scary. There were very few guests during the Christmas summer vacation, and the place doesn’t seem prepared or maintained to host guests properly.
- Dreamer34483248097 (6/5): Experience - Nice historical building. Nice stuff at reception (2 guys).
NH Discovery program is not available anymore, very disappointed!! First day they provided really noisy room… next day we asked to change as its not possible to sleep. Breakfast really basic… not for 5 stars hotel. Really expensive…
- 965celiat (8/5): Beautiful property, no perks - The bedroom was spacious, comfortable, but extremely austere. No courtesy water. We had to contact the reception desk to ask for toilet paper, shower caps, additional soap.
The entire ambience of the hotel was one of austerity that cannot be understood. For instance, the beautiful hotel lobby is totally naked, no armchairs, no plants or flowers, no furniture at all. Ditto with the hallways.
The breakfast was also austere (one could even call it cheap). Just two kinds of sliced bread, no vegetables, eggs as an extra. The dining room is beautiful, a hotel this fine could provide a richer breakfast.
The personnel is the best you can imagine. Always friendly, attentive and ready to help.
The room and all facilities are spotless, clean and comfortable.
The hotel is expensive and could be a little bit more generous with the small details.
- pmferraro (2/5): Five Stars, IS A LIE - The deluxe rooms leave a lot to be desired. The central air conditioning does not allow us to regulate the temperature. We had a hot day in April and I couldn't turn on the air conditioning. I asked for a fan and they didn't have one. The shower water is not hot. The rooms do not have a refrigerator. A disaster -
- Miriam (10/5): - The hotel was conveniently located where we can walk to restaurants and shops. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was a plus with excellent selection. The room was nice, the bed was very comfortable and though we did not have a direct ocean view our room was located where we can open our window, see the ocean, and get a nice breeze in the evenings. I was very happy with this hotel.
- Haralambos (6/5): An emblematic building that needs renovation - A wonderful historical building from the outside. However, many things need to be upgraded from the inside. The rooms need to be refurbished and upgraded. Amenities were extremely poor.
- haralamboss2022 (6/5): An emblematic historical building that needs upgrade - A wonderful historical building from the outside. However, many things need to be upgraded in the inside. The rooms need to be refurbished and renovated. we arrived around 11 o’clock in the morning knowing that we were not allowed to have any breakfast at the time. We checked in and the lady at the reception categorically told us we couldn’t have coffee that day. I’ve done early check ins at other hotels in the past but they always offer you some kind of coffee. Amenities were extremely poor: 2 shampoos, 2 conditioners, and 2 soaps. I wanted to use the spa and have a massage but the hotel didn’t have any house shoes. I had to go wearing my boots. To sum up: wonderfully located, lovely from the outside but in an extreme urge of renovation in the inside.
- Isaac (8/5): - Fue todo excelente. Solo advertir q se cobran impuestos locales , no advertidos.
- liliana (10/5): Le falta - En líneas generales bien, pero todavía le falta remozar varias zonas. Precio calidad no va. No es 5 estrellas
- marko (4/5): Naja….. Sicherheitsnummer.
Hiermit habe ich mich sehr unwohl gefühlt und habe dies mehrmals, natürlich freundlich, hinterfragt. Antwort war simple: “ Do You want the Room or not?”
- Kristian (8/5): - It was a very charming hotel from the mid-20th century. While many of the room amenities have been updated, the bathroom fixtures were not as modern as other properties I stayed at in Argentina.
Dormitorios internos super ruidosos debido a grandes motores. Imposible descansar. Colchones viejos y vencidos. Hotel masivo.
Recomendo a estadia!
- Graciela (10/5): - Hermosa estadia, relajante.
- Laura Andrea (6/5): faltaron servicios - LA ESTANCIA ESTUVO BIEN PERO LE FALTARON CIERTOS DETALLES QUE HACEN LA DIFERENCIA, COMO POR EJEMPLO NO ESTABA HABILITADO EL SAUNA, NOS COBRABAN EL ESTACIONAMIENTO QUE OBVIAMNETE TENDRIA QUE ESTAR INCLUIDO, NOS COBRARON EN EL DESAYUNO LOS HUEVOS REVUELTOS QUE EN TODO DESAYUNO DE HOTEL SE LAS ESTRELLAS QUE TENGAN TE LOS DAN Y NO HABIA SERVICIO DE PLAYA AUN SIENDO QUE UNO VA POR LA PLAYA Y PEDI HABITACION CON VISTA AL MAR Y ME DIERON CON VISTA A LA FARMACIA DE ENFRENTE.
- lucianom847 (6/5): Beautiful architecture, awesome views and friendly staff. Very bad restaurant - The hotel reminds of the past era when Argentina was a strong player in the world scene. The architecture is top notch, very friendly staff and great views. The restaurant is not at the right
level for a 5 star hotel. Breakfast is barely ok and dinner is average at most with prices much higher than the average of the truly good restaurants of the city.
The huge building is in need of some extra attention to detail, but overall I am happy about having stayed at this hotel.
Would strongly recommend, however, going out for dinner and skipping the hotel's restaurant.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - ns nc
- Carolina (10/5): Muy satisfechos - Todo perfecto!
Volveria a hospedarme.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hotel Provincial is the most classic and stylish hotel ever built in Argentina. Enriched with history, it is by far a relic of a lost time. The staff was incredibly warm and helpful, friendly and efficient. Staying there was a dream.
Completo
. Volvería.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Old style, nice location and staff but look a little deteriorated
- KarenW5750 (2/5): The most expensive dump I have ever stayed in - This hotel is way past it’s prime. Ran out of toilet paper and no spare! The shower didn’t work so I thought I’ll have a bath. No plug!
Noisy aircon so I had to sleep with it off and couldn’t have window open as noisy street below. I will be asking for a discount at checkout. I will keep you posted on that one.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location and service were outstanding, facilities are great and breakfast was superb
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The hotel is not a five start hotel, it is a three star hotel at its best. It's old, with some updates but not enough to be competitive. The single beds are small and worn. The TV's are small and far away from the beds. The rooms are dated.
I would have been happier if it was listed as a three star hotel, then I wouldn't complain.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Everything was old and in really bad shape.
It was a great building without any updates.
Dormitorio y cama excelentes.Desayuno bueno y abundante.Pasamos estadía muy placentera.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lugar destacado digno de recomendar. Nivel internacional.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Las habitaciones grandes y confortables.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Liked: Great location and beach views. Big rooms.
Disliked: Slow wifi, rusty windows, mediocre breakfast options, no room coffee maker, no concierge to book tours or provide carnival information.
- Fie (2/5): Try another hotel! - Absolute the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. This is NOT a 4 star hotel, I would maybe give them one star. We wanted to find another hotel after we saw the rooms, but due to public holliday all hotels on the coast were fully booked and the hotel would not give us refund/let us cancel for free.
@hotels.com - a good idea would be to change the photos for this hotel so you don’t get more disapointed customers.
- Nélida (8/5): - MUY LINDO HOTEL Y MUY BUENA ATENCION EN TODO SENTIDO .
- Francie (8/5): Family reunion from New Zealand to Argentina - It was very central and very close to the beach.we traveled with our family, which was 8 of us.They cater well for families and senior nationals. The staff were very friendly and in house prices were very affordable covering all family needs. The Swimming pools were very enjoyable and remembering the age of the hotel very accommodating. Some rooms needed a little upgrade and we were not aware of other upmarket rooms on other floors.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - its a huge old hotel, f antastic building with the most beautiful staircase. rooms are large, high ceilings and old world charm. head board bed is fabric with stains....rest of the room was clean. gym is a joke, but pools are ok. everything has this old eastern european feel. hotel is massive...location is down town right at the beach...
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Poor breakfast - advertised as continental, which it was but still poor
- Silvia Edith (10/5): Consigliatissimo!!! - Davero un buon hotel! Ci siamo trovati veramente bene.
- seb (10/5): - Great place to stay. And I don't know why I have to write 50 characters...
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The property was misrepresented by expedia it was dated in need of repair facilities did not work never a four or five star hotel more like a 2* room eas very noisy internet did not work in room housekeeping was poor fridge did not work had to be changed air conditioning was intermittent jucuzzi not working
- Clau (10/5): - Muy buen Hotel
- M (4/5): The pictures and reviews are deceiving - I would 100% never stay here again. The photos and website make this look like a 4 star resort. I would give it one star. The hotel is literally falling apart. The only reason to stay here is to be close to the beach, however, there are much better options. The hotel staff was extremely rude. No one mentioned you have to pay to go to the pool, pay to use the chairs, and cannot pay for extra chairs. Breakfast was so crowded they ran out of food and there were limited seats. The hall carpet was stained. There were countless holes in the bedroom walls. We ended up checking out early.
- Stephen (10/5): The NH Gran is a great hotel! - The staff was incredibly nice and accommodating...every single one of them. The hotel is simply gigantic. When we checked-in we told the bellman we didn't need his services because we had little luggage. That was a mistake! It took us forever to find our rooms. The room was nicely decorated and the bathroom was beautifully finished in marble. It is an older hotel and the hallways reflect that in their appearance...I don't mean that in a negative way. The breakfast/dining/bar area is all 100% modern, bright and clean. Breakfast was included with our room and was very nice. I wish the bar stayed open after midnight but there is a casino next door with a bar that's open until 3am. The hotel is directly on the beach and has row after row of cabanas. We were surprised that the cabanas were so reasonably priced. My only complaint still baffles me. As I said, the hotel is gigantic. But the spa changing room and showers are coed. Surely they could find room to separate them. The individual showers measured approximately 3'x3' with frosted glass doors on each one. They left little space to dry before one needed to step into the coed area. I'm not a prude and have no problems with lack of privacy in the men's locker room...but changing clothes in the same room with women was very awkward. With that being said it was a great hotel, just know that the spa lockers and showers are unique to put it nicely. I would definitely stay at the NH Gran again!
- Graciela (10/5): - Todo excelente!!
- Gui (4/5): Great potential, but fail. - Stayed there for just one night, business purpose in the city. The property is amazing and location is great, but it looks somehow abandoned, lacking of a nice refurbishment to rescue the old days' glory it might have had. Tried the gym, it was absolutely awful... no treadmills working, very old and useless equipment. Indoor pools are not bad, though absolutely crowded - very small pool areas for the size of the hotel. Breakfast was also disappointing... since I had an early meeting, I got down for breakfast at 6h30, then I just discovered it begins to be served at 7h00 (!!). Although there were waiters there and restaurant was already open (very nice decoration, by the way), no one of the staff cared to offer me some attention. When I asked if I could have some coffee at least, I've been told in a very rude way that it starts at 7h00. It was 6h45 by then... Room is big and clean, bed is old and liners has that laundry smell. Shower is old and a bit rusty but very good water pressure and constant temperature.
- Jennifer (6/5): Mixed Review - This hotel wasn't exactly what we expected. The main picture shown is not an accurate representation. There is a small pool across the walkway from the hotel, but it's not in the best shape and the hotel will try to charge you extra to use it and their beach area. The hotel itself is quite beautiful but you can tell we went at a very slow time of year as most parts of the hotel were closed down. The service wasn't great, especially at the very limited breakfast buffet where no staff spoke with us at all. On Christmas eve the front desk told us that the restaurant would be open until 9pm but when we went there around 7:30 for dinner, the staff told us they were closed and we could only order a few room service items.
- William (8/5): Good base to see Mar del Plata - Nice traditional hotel in the centre of Mar del Plata. The room was excellent but the service in the bar / restaurant was very slow. Nice pool and private beach area but not cheap
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel, very good service. - It's a nice hotel, and the service was excellent. We went there in the middle of December, a few weeks before the holiday rush sets in. Direct walk to the Beach.
A bit too crowdy in the dining room during breakfeast; simply not enough tables.
