Pool heater broken, dirty bathrooms, stained sheets, built up dust and dirt on surfaces, heat/cool unit making loud sounds, dirty windows and ledge, chipping paint around unit.

Maryann (10/5): - First, I want to commend the staff for friendly service. It is clear this hotel is locally owned and operated. I felt safe and cared for as a solo female traveler. I did not partake in the breakfast but it looked good and included a lot of items for a small hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. A highlight I want to include: I left a raincoat in the closet upon discharge. I called right away and they made a plan for mailing it to me, no problem at all. I would highly recommend this hotel if traveling in the area.

Dodie (4/5): Very disappointing - When you walk through the front door there is a noticeable musty smell. The cement is cracked and weeds adorn the signage and landscaping. A sign was post on the computer “No Rooms Available” when I arrived at 10:30. I rang a button for assistance. The gentleman came out of a side room to check me in and was pleasant. Upon entering my room, the light switch inside the door did not turn on any lights so you had to go over to the table lamp in order to see. The room was musty and had what appeared to be mold on the carpet. I was so tired so I took pictures to show in the morning. The gentleman said it was carpet deodorizer but truly it was gross. He said he would clean it up. I went ahead and had a 5 night stay since I was only in the room a few hours each night to sleep otherwise I would have requested a refund and left for cleaner accommodations.

Sue (5/5): Close to our friends…. - We ate breakfast elsewhere. Very high humidity in room… uncomfortable & cold almost smell the “mold”. We chose this locally owned motel as had friends living in Grundy Center & wanted the convenience of its location. We did have a bed to sleep in & a shower.

JayRayKay (10/5): An oasis in the desert - This hotel is near the PioneerTrail, making it perfect for a cycling tour. A day’s ride to Waterloo, just the right way station . What delighted me was the welcome from the proprietor who greeted me by name and pointed out the features of the hotel. Considerately, I was given the closest room to which to wheel by bike . The room is clean and modern. The pool is clean and in a beautiful vaulted enclosure. The breakfast was fine. The price was a bargain. I’ve gotten much less paying much more.

Lynnette (4/5): - Before reserving our rooms, we asked about the pool to make sure that it was up and running so that we could use it. The staff said yes, so we booked it because we had some people that wanted to use the pool when we checked in. I asked what time the pool would be open on Sunday or the next morning And the staff said it’s not open on Sundays we dealt with it then we got to our room and found a large stain on the comforter in one bed, another bed had grass under the comforter between the sheet. It was late, so we did not say anything at that time And threw those dirty blankets off the bed . We went to brush our teeth and the mirror was filthy and covered in toothpaste, splatter, and other debris as if nobody washed the windows or mirrors in the hotel. We then went to take a shower and the knob would not turn on when I approached the staff that morning to complain about not being able to shower. His reply was yeah your room has a hard knob. I said no there’s nothing hard about it. It will not turn my husband who is very strong could not turn the water on And he said he will make note of that and then turned around and walked away. I do not recommend staying at this hotel. I put other things aside and just assumed he would listen to my concern and or offer a discount or money back, but that did not occur very disappointed as we do have family in Grundy Center and would like a convenient place to stay, but not at that price and that filth

I will definitely be back again . The place had a very beautiful scent in the lobby. The rooms were incredibly nice. They even had wheelchair accessible showers. Plenty of parking and a nice wetland park right next to the hotel.

Chris (2/5): Wrong room! - I did not recive the room I saw in the pictures. It shows a jacuzi in it. And there was no jacuzi. When I called the front desk the guy was really rude and short with me. And had no apologetic actions. I feel like it was false advertizing and bait and switch. They said well you should have booked direct. I said i have been using hotels.com for over 10 years and thats the way i prefer to book. Why should i have to book online and call the hotel? Kind of defeats the purpose!!
Tracy (4/5): - The comforter on the bed had stains and it was obvious the bed was old. The refrigerator was not working and smelled awful. The food was not fresh at breakfast. The shower lacked a fan for ventilation. Overall not a great experience. We were there in town for a family member in the hospital and just needed a comfortable place to stay the night. This was not what we hoped for but it was the closest option.

The continental breakfast was what you would expect with some hot items and cereal options. There was adequate parking and some eating options nearby.

It was a short drive to the Old 56 Wedding Venue. The staff member was extremely rude. The rooms smelled bad. The beds were uncomfortable. Breakfast was gross.

My room was very spacious, the bed was comfortable and the desk in my room was perfect for work. Internet worked well. Hot breakfast was decent with eggs, biscuits, sausage gravy and pancakes. Overall, great value and I would stay there again. I’m not a fan of carpets, but the carpet in my room was clean. Could add fruit to breakfast.

I arrived and was shocked when I drove up. Looking dilapidated. Exterior landscaping is ignored now. Parking lot has weed n grass Signs leaning over. Zero trimming. Bldg looks awful. Pool area is disgusting, unheated with mold and rot everywhere. The interior room shows lots of signs of deferred maintenance and a loose toilet and non working tub. K5424NSsamanthak (2/5): I would not go back to this hotel - There were bugs all over my room. The food was gross and hard and rubbery even the cereal was stale. The pool was too gross to go in. It had bugs and band aides floating in the water along with being over all in the pool area. The pool water had some kind of small particles floating all throughout it and the staff talked about how a person ate to much and then went swimming and threw up in the water. And the pillows were thinner then a piece of paper. I don't think they ever cleaned the water out. I will never go back to this hotel

Traveler062023 (2/5): Find somewhere else - Pool was ice cold, paint chips were floating everywhere, pretty sure the filtration system wasn't being used, and spiders swimming on top of the water. Broken and moldy fridge. Someone's used bath rag left that housekeeping missed. Every time I walked into my room it had a terrible smell. There was a dead spider killed on the wall that wasn't cleaned off from any previous stayer.

D-BLDG2 (2/5): We learned a hard lesson, stay clear of the bate and switch - We try to help some of the smaller hotels and spend some time out of the downtown hotels when on business. When we looked in the website the price was close to 90 an hour later we decided to go ahead and stay was close enough to be able to make the plans work. Got on and made reservations when we arrived at the hotel the price had gone from 90 to 165 dollars for a small town hole in the wall. The place was small dirty run down and rude staff and management. When we asked about the change in prices and how much the difference was from what we had seen on line , told us they would not help in anyway and that the Mother company Wyndham. They had no time to explain or take care of anything but taking our money at twice the price listed online Stay clear of these people and their musty disgusting hotel Shame on the mess

lisasX8544TZ (6/5): Charge for swimming? - First of all, the room was just fine and most of the staff was friendly. We asked if our grandkids could come swim the next day and was told it would not be a problem. The trouble was, that the manager charged our credit card $70 while they were swimming. He said he made the rules and could charge us. It was a bad ending to a fun day and we will not be going back to this location again. AmericInn has never said no to us having grandkids join us at the pool So, just beware if you are planning to have guests.
Verified traveler (8/5): Pretty good overall - They had a really nice breakfast. We had two rooms and they both had weird smells, one was almost over-powering (animal?) and the other just mildew smell. Bathrooms were nice, shower was clean and drained well. Staff were very friendly!
jemtravels123 (2/5): Outdated and smelled awful - This hotel was outdated, my room smelled of pet urine, and when I reported it to the owner, his response was, "Oh, someone with a pet must have stayed in that room." Very stingy with the pool towels, and the towels had to be checked out at the front desk with a room number.
