• Aleksei (10/5): Человек делает место и если вы капризный человек у которого "салфетки не той формы" то всё супер - Отличное расположение. Добродушный хозяин. Отзывчивый персонал Немного грязновато , но это Азия и если не придираться и в принципе знать куда едешь, то всё нормально.

• Aurélie (9/5): Tres bon qualite / prix - Le jardin et l emplacement. Le gerant a ete aidant pour l organisation de nos journees. Il y avait beaucoup de moustiques. Les moutiquaires etaient un peu vieillotte avec des trous ou il en manquait une sur in lit. La chambre etait tres confortable mais pas tres propre. Il manquait aussi des draps.
• Guest (7/5): Satisfied with the stay, we were looking for a cheap but nice option, and we got one. - The place was value for money, nice room and bathroom, a bit dark though. The place had a restaurant and spa on the property itself, so we were able to get snacks and a massage. No complaints. I wish the manager at the property wouldve asked us about breakfast, instead of assuming we don't want, as the Una stretch was closed in the morning - and we had to go hunting for breakfast all the way upto Araliya at 7 am.

• Erik (1/5): Nightmare stay. - We had a very bad experience here where someone tried to break down our door in the middle of the night. First when we approached the owner with it the next day they took it serious and let us see the surveliance footage from the cameras, but when the footage revealed that it was a long time regular guest that went out of his room in the middle of the night the ownerd turned and were just laughing and saying this person would never do something like this because ”they know him” and ”he comes every year”, ”but he has a problem with alcohol”. The disrespect after this scary situation was just too much for us and we left early. This person was probably planning to r*pe my girlfriend as I had been sick and not seen going in and out of the room for a week, so any solo female really should not stay here with this ”regular” staying there for long periods every year. Actually no one should stay here given how they treat their guests and their saftey.

• Venessa (10/5): Beautiful location - I was welcomed by a kind manager who spoke English. Helped with bags, WiFi, tea, was very attentive..Had a massage here as I travelled from Kandy 6 hours on local bus. They offered shower and massage. Was brilliant. The premises are large and very central 5 min walk to beach. Shops along the road. Was a great stay. So friendly . I really love sri Lanka people they so caring. I love their grout free bathroom. Travel with mozzie spray and socks for temples, ground so hot. Highly recommend

Owner is incredibly nice and hospitable, made our vacation even better and more memorable by sharing lots of interesting information about Sri Lanka. We even extended our stay and loved it there!

Good location, few minutes from the beach and right in the centre. The staff were also really friendly Basic room, didn’t have a proper sheet on the bed and our room had an adjoining door with the kitchen, we could lock it but meant it was noisy most of the night as it’s a communal kitchen

• Agata (10/5): Exceptional - The most comfortable stay I had in Sri Lanka! The place is beautiful, amazing location very close to the beach and all the restaurants/shops. Very good mexican restaurant on site! The room was great, very comfortable bed, enough space for the clothes and other things, AC working well, hot water in the shower (it was chilly and rainy when I was there). Shared kitchen to prepare your meals. The host is super friendly and caring. Sadly for me it was just a short stop on my way out of Sri Lanka, but I'll definitely stay here if I visit Una again.

• Asya (9/5): Lovely place, amazing owner. - Owner was great, he told us many stories about Budizm and Hinduizm. We had breakfast including our reservation. Every morning he prepared us cultural and different breakfast. Hotel's location was also great. We loved this place, if we go unawatuna again we would stay there. Room could be more clean

• Jurga (9/5): Lovely, calm, welcoming. - The place is very beautiful, you are in the main street, but very close to the nature. The house keeper was lovely and kind, he helped with everything - gave advises about travellung in Sri Lanka, gave us aloe vera plant after we burned in the sun. He ryn after us to the bus stop when we left some things after check out! It could be a little cleaner, there was some dirt and calc in the bathroom.

• MissHannahBanana (10/5): Pleasant stay at Zimmer Rest! - Stayed at Zimmer Rest approximately 25 days. Thilak (owner) took very well care of me and my friends, help us with anything we needed and explained a lot about the nature, plants in the garden, Sri Lanka, Buddhism and showed us the exotic animals found close by (monkeys, peacock, flying fox, land monitor etc) and also made sure we were always secure. Was a lovely place that I highly recommend!
• FOODmood-crabtree (8/5): Quiet, clean, comfortable, and fairly priced, ideal for this are - Unawatuna is a jungle of places to stay, and Zimmer Rest offered us the perfect quiet, clean, comfortable place in all the chaos. We were able to go out and enjoy the bustle of the area, then come back to the quiet of our room here. The Spa was an extra gift, and Jina in the restaurant makes great food AND offers free morning meditation. The large outdoor kitchen at the end of the hall is an extra bonus, even just for the free coffee and tea you can make yourself in the morning. We met some people staying longer term who enjoyed cooking there too.
• francocR3376VK (8/5): Perfect greeting - Those people are at the top of hospitality definition they waited for my arrival at 3 am ! old colonial style building with a large lawn Rooms are pleasant and simple , inexpensive with air conditioning close to the beach, the owner manager is a wealth of local knowledge and will help you In any issue you may have ! Also great vegetarian restaurant attached to the property offering excellent healthy Food, this is a place where you will feel happy and comfortable as you will be treated with respect not like another tourist, also offering spa and massage .

• 441nicj (10/5): Perfect accommodation and perfect host - We had a perfect time the rooms are cosy and very clean, our host was just perfect he showed us his garden with all the palm trees and fruits and told us a lot about the country and what to do in this area. We can definitely recommend the hotel and spa and will come back soon.

• 85tristanm (8/5): Great stay - The property is great with plenty of bird watching, monkeys playing in near by trees and little fluffy dogs to pet, the location is a short walk to beach, the host booked our transfer to airport and even got up early and made us breakfast and tea which was a great surprise and very delicious.

• oijarix (10/5): Like second home - Thilak, the host of this residence is so kind and friendly he was very social and told us very much about sri lankan history and gave us alot of advice he also kept us company and teached us board games and every day he gave us sri lankan treats and food to try. He helped us with everything we needed best host ever and we have travelled alot around the world. We are gonna miss this gentleman so we allready talked with friends that we are coming back to visit in his resort again someday. We were 4 young travellers sharing one room and upstairs in the building there were a kitchen where you could go and cook whenever or eat ice cream or make coffee anytime at the day or night. Host speaks perfect english to me so it was really easy to talk and share stories with him, and he also has a great sense of humor, i higly recommend this place for everybody who are planning to stay in unawatuna. Happy and home and welcoming feeling here!

• janwJ4668HZ (10/5): Zimmer Rest and Unawatuna...... What a Couple of Gems;)))) - Thalik is a generous host/owner and nothing is too much trouble. Really enjoyed his company and his amazing knowledge about Sri Lanka. Zimmer Rest is a tranquil place to stay, set back from the local beach road, surrounded by a garden with a spa that does wonderful massages and where you can also do yoga in a quiet setting. There are deckchairs on the shady balconies in which to relax and various games available to play. We had a great triple room with lots of space and our own washing machine,which was brilliant as we had a 17day stay!!! A huge open kitchen is upstairs where you can cook your own food or food can be ordered and cooked onsite...... really delicious!! There is also a well known Vegan and Vegetarian Restaurant at the front of the site which is very popular and always full.... we ate there and found the food fresh and tasty..... again the family are really nice. The beach is fabulous and the best in southern Sri Lanka..... which I totally agree with and is only a 5minute stroll from the Zimmer Rest. Restaurants are everywhere.....some on the beach and some on the beach road. Really recommend a lovely friendly place on the beach road called "Shifting Sands", where the food is fantastic and the staff soo polite. They all have a great sense of fun and pride in what they do and it shows;)))) All in all a real find and definately a Gem....we will be back in the near future!!!
• ducster13 (2/5): Dirty room! - We booked budget room (4500 r night) for 3 nights from booking.com and in the website it looked okey. Room was small, no ac (extra payment 1000rupee), no glass windows: only wooden doors , there were ants in bed and spider nest everywhere! And mosquitos. We changes the place next morning! Owner ask us why we go and i told him because room is dirty and there is ants in bed, so he such laught and say okey. Do not pay advanced!! Check the room first!!
• Linemh (10/5): like home - We started our trip staying in this friendly guest house and even thought we were not planning to come back to Unawatuna after 4 weeks of travelling, we had to come back to this amazing spot to relax and say hello to our new friend Thilak. Travelling with 2 kids (9+12) one of the most important things is to feel welcome and this you can here. New games were introduced and played while we were treating ourselves with a cup of coffee made by our selves whenever we wanted in the out-door kitchen. We really felt like at home, and felt sad to say godbye to our new friend Thilak - 1 day we will come back
• 277valeriep (10/5): Feels like home!! - We stayed for a few days in Zimmer Rest and it just felt like home there! The Owner is super friendly and would do anything to make his guests happy. He really was exceptionally hospitable and open-hearted! The rooms are quite cosy, and it's only a few minutes walk to the beach. It's definitely worth a stay!!

• Mechiemeche (10/5): Great Place - We've just spent 2 wonderful days here. Clean and cheap accommodation and lovely team of staff. Would highly recommend staying here if you are heading to Unawatuna. There's also a yoga centre called Yoga with Ranga based on site. They do massage too, both definitely worth doing
• Svitlana (8/5): отдых в Zimmer - Хозяин отеля очень приветливый и гостеприимный. Встретил нас, проводил, показал номер. Затем показал нам дорогу на пляж. Номер у нас был забронирован с завтраками. Каждое утро нам подавали тарелку с фруктами (арбуз или папайя, бананы), блины с яичницей, тосты, масло, джем, чай или кофе на выбор. В комнате была двухспальная кровать, которая занимала практически всю комнату и отдельный санузел, в котором был унитаз, рядом душ и умывальник. В потолке комнаты был вентилятор, которым мы активно пользовались и почти без перерыва, т.к. температура днем +34, а ночью +25. Рядом с отелем есть кафе для веганов. Готовят хорошо.
• Teresa (8/5): Gutes Hotel, nur fünf Minuten vom Strand entfernt - Wir waren leider nur eine Nacht vor Ort, aber wenn wir gewusst hätten, dass der Ort so schön ist, wären wir länger geblieben! Das Zimmer Rest, bietet ideale Preis/Leistungsverhältnisse und ist nur wenige Gehminuten vom Strand entfernt. Ein weiterer Vorteil ist, dass es in einer Nebenstraße und zurückgesetzt liegt, somit ist es sehr ruhig in der Anlage. Das enthaltene Spa ist empfehlenswert. Der Besitzer und die Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich

• Greger (2/5): LURAD av ZIMMER REST - Vi hade en bekräftelse på bokningen men när vi kom ditt på kvällen var hotellet fullt. Vad hade hänt om vi kommit vid 21 -22 tiden. Nu ordnade det sig med ett annat boende 100 m därifrån. Men hyresvärden tog bra betalt för det Zimmer Rest skulle kosta 60 dollar men det nya boendet kostade 40 dollar vilket vi fick reda på senare. Vi Betalde Zimmer Rest 50 dollar för det nya boendet, så han stoppade ca 100 dollar i fickan. Vi stannade i 10 dagar. Vi besökte Zimmer Rest någon dag senare och fick se ett av rummen. Mörkt och murrigt, var det så vi var glada att vi slapp det hotellet.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Sehr schönes, absolut Empfehlenswertes Hostel - Hotelbesitzer und das gesamte Team ist sehr freundlich, liebenswert und bei allem sehr behilflich. Ein optimales Hostel für allein reisende Frauen. Der Spar ist hervorragend ! Sehr gute Lage da das Haus von der Straße zurückversetzt ist man fühlt sich wie im Dschungel. Zum Strand sind es ca. 5 Gehminuten. Das Hostel und die Zimmer sind sehr sauber, aber kein täglicher Zimmer Service Das dazu gehörende Vegetarische Restaurant ist ebenfalls sehr zu empfehlen, man muss nur viel Zeit mit bringen da alles frisch zu bereitet wird Unawatuna ist einer der schönsten Orte an der Süd Küste da der Ort zusammen hängende Läden und verschiedenste Lokale bietet. .
• Verified traveler (4/5): Very Basic - Hotel seems overbooked, our room appeared to be a bed put in their office. Complete with the phone, hotel's internet and their computer (which we couldn't use). Internet was very slow and every time there was a blackout something beeped in our room. When asking if it could be stopped we were told not to worry as it only beeps for 5 or so minutes. Not helpful when you're trying to sleep. Staff were difficult to find and there was very little, if any, service. Good location though, just back from the beach, but extremely over priced.
• klaus (8/5): passt - - sehr sauber, aber KEIN zimmer service = wird (auf 5 Tage) NICHT gesäubert oder betten gemacht, auch nicht das Bad - Bad ist in ordnung außer dass es nicht gesäubert wird und keine trennung irgeindeiner art von dusche und WC vorhanden ist - Frühstück OK (war leider nicht im preis enthalten) - nicht direkt am Strand, aber maximal 5 min. zu Fuß davon entfernt - Hotelbesitzer sehr behilflich, freundlich und liebenswert ;-)

• Ihsaar (10/5): Everything you could ask for and more - Zimmer Rest provides a level of hospitality that surpasses anything I have ever seen. Run by an elderly, active and kind-hearted gentlemen, this place wins fans in the tourists that visit it. The uncle is so down to earth and hands on; he does everything from cleaning and sweeping to laundry and cooking. Before you know you want something, you already have it! The guest house has a garden, a famous vegan restaurant and an ayurveda massage facility within the premises. Guests have complete access to a fully stocked, charming verandah kitchen. You can choose from delicious biscuits, fresh fruit from the garden in the backyard and some local sweets for snacking during the day. Don't miss out on the traditional Sri Lakan breakfast provided at an additonal ost. It is complete worth the small price. The table is laid with hoppers, curry, yoghurt, musli, fruit, freshly baked bread, tea, coffee and various condiments. It was one of the best meals we had on our entire trip. You will feel completely satisfied after your stay at this well located place.
