Guest Reviews
- Christine (4/5): Photos belie the truth - Although linen was clean and beds reasonable that’s where it stopped. Cobwebs that I took down with spiders , old utensils and pots in kitchen not fit for use , inadequate number of towels in bathroom for number of guests ,no bath mat , minimum toilet paper , cupboard doors without handles , lamps without globes , and light fittings not working which we read in reviews had been reported more than 12 months previously. Plumbing obviously has tree roots as toilets didn’t flush properly and when the bath water was emptied it flooded the floor from under the bath. Funny smell also under kitchen sink . No wood for the fire and garden refuse left in driveway and box trailer parked out front. When I pay more than $1,000 for 2 nights I expect equivalent to my home or better . This property could be lovely but is in desperate need of maintenance and should not be offered as a holiday let .
- Jamo (8/5): Close to nice walks and not too far from the main - Nice place with comfy beds and couches, great aircon and all mod con necessities. Bathroom was a great standout with the girls with the clawfoot bathtub.
Just needed things like a box of tissues or two and handsoap in the bathroom/toilet to make the stay more convenient.
It was close enough to shops and cliff walks with stunning views
All in all, we would definitely choose to stay there again.
- Cliff (4/5): What happened to Camellias? - Have been coming to Camellias in Leura for a long time and although sometimes a few things didn't work we put up with it as the general facilities at the house were good. NOT THIS TIME! From lights that didn't work. A broken shower fitting that sprayed water everywhere. No coffee or tea packets or shampoo in the bathroom. The over mirror light was broken so you couldn't see in the bathroom. Standard stuff in most places. There used to be free Wi-Fi which wasn't active on our stay required as mobile reception can be bit hit or miss and no brochure or information on how to operate things. (fortunately we remembered form last time) In the oven was a dirty tray that had not been cleaned out. Hardly any fire wood for the open fire. We had to buy some as it was 2 C up there when we stayed. Broken chair in the dining room disguised with a pillow!! None or broken handles on the wardrobes. What a shame as all of this would be easy to rectify. I recommend the people who own this now spend a week end there themselves to see the faults.
- randa (8/5): Perfect friends catch up getaway home - Caught up with friends visiting from overseas. The home was perfect especially the fireplace during winter to just relax and catch up. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The backyard balcony was sooo pleasant to wake up and have a coffee and just enjoy the surrounding trees. Will definately book again. Thank you
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Even though it was a very short overnighter, we had a lovely stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Wayne was a very helpful and very nice - Comfortable surrounds and the beds were nice and very clean great location to restaurants shops- coffee - features around the area are nice and close
- ann (6/5): quiet, handy to shops and cafes - this is a comfortable house although there are a few things that would improve matters such as a vanity in the bathroom. Storage facilities are minimal if one was staying longer. We could not find any tea towels. The place was clean and relatively comfortable. It was about a kilometer to the Leura mall - a good walk or a short drive.
- Janice (10/5): Homely, central, clean - Staying over Christmas we were geeeted with a Christmas tree and some wine. The feature made being on the road so special. House is central to all local surrounds and was comfortable and clean. The house is old but having a clean kitchen, renovated bathroom and comfy bedrooms is all one needs. I wish we could come back in the near future.
- Bek (4/5): Has potential to be gorgeous - This place has the potential to be amazing - there already is a beautiful bathroom with a claw-foot bathtub - probably the best part about the house. The gardens looked nice and green and the kitchen was modern.
Unfortunately we arrived to the house being locked up and the phone number unreachable for 20 mins (we were there for a wedding and already running behind schedule).
On a postive note, the owner dropped everything and came straight over once we reached him. Although he was apologetic he did not seem too happy to have us there which made us feel unwelcome.
The bedrooms were presented well with nice sheets and doona covers.
The house could have done with a good sweep or vacuum and the fridge needed to be emptied - we were lucky enough to be left 2x expired bottles of milk, which I initially thought by the nice black/green colour must have been something else (maybe cordial??) but on closer examination, it certainly was old greenish black milk with clumps of white swirling throughout it...pretty gross.
All in all, with a little TLC the house could be incredible, it just needs a little more care and cleanliness and a few homey touches.
- John (8/5): In a quiet secluded spot, close to town - Have advised the booking agency about a number of maintenance issues that need attention.
- Nelson (2/5): Don't book this hotel - This is a faked hotel and a scam indeed! You never got check in!
