- halone (4/5): Great Location in Nimman, But Poor Management and Inconsistent Service - The location in Nimman is excellent — artistic, lively and local. We really enjoyed the area. The hotel design is stylish but maintenance and management need improvement. We had multiple booking complications and had to change rooms. Policies were strict (water limits, minibar inconsistencies). AC on the 8th floor was either too cold or too hot, which caused discomfort during our stay. WiFi was very unstable until we were given staff access. Breakfast was average with limited options and slow service. One breakfast staff member stood out for her kindness and professionalism. Airport transfer pricing was inconsistent and communication unclear. Overall, good potential, but service and management need improvement.

Am impressed to see the General Manager doing egg cooking in the early morning. The counter staff are fantastic. So good to be served by Apisith. He was so cool when I had to solve my booking mistake. Great guy
- AmitT397 (6/5): Avoidable stay poor hygiene and sad breakfast spread , good staff and support - There was a stink in the room as soon as we entered the room every time , the cleanliness was below par and the breakfast menu was about cutting corners, there are better breakfast restaurants around even if you book the hotel with free breakfast better sacrifice it and try better spread at some nearby places across the road. Location was nice . The service at the restaurant was pleasing but the experience was undone by the cost cutting and poor hygiene
- Tourist65392195043 (10/5): Chic, Affordable, Superior Location! - Absolutely loved this hotel! It was quaint, clean, affordable, and the location is incredible. Also, the hotel breakfast was amazing too; wide variety of fresh food and juices every morning, we didn't need to go anywhere for breakfast! Also, the hotel restaurant (I think it's called Jardin?) was amazing for happy hour. I highly recommend any of their in-house cocktails and their small plates during HH were great too. 10/10 Recommend this hotel for your stay in Chiang Mai!

Generally a great place to stay, great location, chilled etc. One thing that I found very annoying - I stayed in one of the Chalit rooms, nicely decked out , nice bath but I couldn’t deal with having to hold the shower head by hand when only wanting a shower - also, I’m average height and I kept on hitting the light shades with my head , I have to say that really annoyed me ! Apart from that all good
- seancL996AN (10/5): Convenient Location and Superb Service - We stayed 6 nights at the Art Mei. It was a wonderful experience for three reasons: the location, the on site restaurant & bar and most most especially the lovely hotel staff. First the hotel is super close to tons of restaurants, cafes, massage salons, boutiques, and two malls. There’s really no reason except sight seeing and shopping the night markets to go anywhere else in the city. It’s super safe both day and way into the night. When you decide to attend the night markets Grab is super handy. We also took the car service to an elephant sanctuary, a luxury riverside resort for lunch and a boat ride, and to the remarkable mountain top temple. The location is central to everything including the airport which made for a hassle free arrival and departure. Second the food and drinks available at the hotel were delicious. The breakfast buffet had both Asian and Western options and was a flavorful filling start to each day. We also enjoyed full dinners there and ordered room service. It was all consistently delectable. Custom espresso drinks are available as well carefully crafted cocktails and affordable wines and beers in the restaurant on the ground floor. On the 8th floor there’s a Speak Easy style bar where the bartender Tim and his fellow bartenders (sorry I missed their names) make delicious drinks both alcoholic and booze free. My only wish is that wine was available there too, but I understand they can’t carry everything in such a tight but cozy setting. Lastly and most importantly the staff were 5 star in their service. They never ceased to astonish us with the attentiveness, warmth, knowledge, and kindness. We were traveling with our 85 year old mother and she needed some extra help. They delivered tender loving care. The staff went above and beyond for us. They found a wheelchair for us and helped us plan and make tour reservations. I want to call out the following front desk folks for being so kind to us: Nim, Meirene, and Gig. The restaurant staff were the ultimate super stars though. They stole our hearts. They were not only consumate professionals in their service, they were the most loving restaurant team I have ever experienced. They enjoy their jobs and it shows. They make a consistent effort to make you happy. We were so so sad to leave the hotel because of the following sweet people: TK Bear Hannon Eak Prim Hopefully I didn’t miss any one I didn’t catch the names of the housekeepers… but our rooms were pristine everyday. We’re on the messy side, so that was very appreciated. Thank you to them. They are many other lovely hotels and resorts in Chaing Mai for sure The Art Mai though for us was simply fantastic because of the location, food/drinks and AWESOME, AMAZING, A+++, 5 star employees. Side note: please find more music than the one song to play in the lobby for the customers waiting and taking in the superb art and crafts. It’s uplifting but not played 24/7. Smiles.
- esternberg (6/5): Doesn’t live up to its online reputation - We stayed here for several nights and left with mixed feelings. Like many other reviewers, we share several of the same concerns. The hotel markets itself as a high end, artistic stay, but in reality it falls short of what you would expect at this level. There are positives. The rooms are spacious and the staff are genuinely friendly. The location in Nimman is excellent, with plenty of restaurants, cafes, and shops nearby, plus a night market just behind the hotel. Nimman itself is a great area to stay in Chiang Mai. However, many of the practical details let the experience down. The rooms show clear signs of wear, with marks and dents throughout the property. Comfort was an issue, with loud air conditioning that was hard to regulate, poor lighting, thin walls, and noticeable noise from both neighbors and nearby flight paths. The pool area is very limited, with only a few loungers and a bar that was never staffed. Breakfast is fine if you prefer Thai options, but very limited for western tastes. Overall, the hotel is not terrible, but it did not meet expectations. It may be worth noting that Chiang Mai simply does not seem to offer the same consistent five star standard found in other Thai cities, especially places like Bangkok or the islands. We would happily stay in Nimman again, but we would not return to this hotel.

- polraj (10/5): Great location, good hotel - First of all, I want to compliment the overall cleanliness of the property. The hotel areas, elevators, and especially the Presidential Suite were exceptionally clean, well-maintained, and equipped with all the necessary amenities. The front desk team was also very courteous and professional. In particular, TK and Buah provided excellent service throughout my stay. Overall, the daily service was very good. However, there was one main issue that affected my experience: 1. Inconsistent Hot Water Supply The hot water system was not functioning properly. The water temperature kept alternating between hot and cold, making it difficult to shower comfortably. I reported this issue on the first day, but unfortunately, there was no response from the management for two days. 2. Breakfast Quality Although the fruits were fresh, many of the breakfast items—such as noodles and curry—were served cold. After three mornings, the breakfast selection felt repetitive. Considering the wide variety of food options available around the area, the hotel breakfast did not offer much added value for longer stays. 3. Restaurant for Lunch & Dinner On a positive note, the restaurant offered excellent à la carte options for lunch and dinner. We enjoyed the meals, and the barman provided great service with perfectly chilled beer.

We were really excited to get there because booking.com and other sites indicated a 5-star experience, however we left feeling pretty disappointed as the hotel didn’t meet our expectations. We realise it’s 4 stars, but having recently been to a few other 4 star hotels in Thailand we think this hotel is below 4 star standards. The good parts - the staff are really friendly. The room we were given was very big and had a nice view. The best part is the location - Nimman is an amazing area, with lots to do/eat/drink. The hotel has a big night market just behind it as well. The not as good parts - everything other travellers have said about the criticisms seem to be true, for example the air conditioner was impossible to keep at a nice temperature and was super loud, the lighting in the room was awful, the towels really threadbare, our tub leaked, thin walls meant we heard our neighbours a lot and the hotel is on the airport flight path so flights going overhead every 20 minutes. The the hotel itself appears very run down, with lots of furniture and walls being dented or having marks on them, in the lobby, elevator and in our rooms. When we checked in we weren’t offered help with our bags although we noticed others were. The breakfast is good if you like thai breakfasts but really lacks variety for western-style options. The pool was a big disappointment - only 4 loungers and a defunct bar that was never staffed. The “welcome drink” you get complimentary is non-alcoholic. The staff themselves were well-meaning but not really helpful, there were some common locations we were asking about that they couldn’t help us with. We got our laundry washed through the hotel and it was 200 baht per kilo which is actual robbery since on the same road it’s more like 60-70 baht per kilo. Overall, we thought the hotel was promising luxury and a really artistic stay, but it really fell short of our expectations. We wouldn’t return although we would definitely stay in Nimman again.

The hotel was nicely decorated and encouraged artistic impression, even from the guests. The rooms were very clean and beds firm but comfortable with plenty of hot water. The staff are what makes this hotel stand out from the rest. They were all so friendly and could not do enough to help. A special mention to TK in the restaurant, who greeted us like family and made us feel at home. Also the gentleman on the bar, who knew we always came down for two large beers and some seaweed chips and the very helpful man at reception, who never seemed to go home. (I'm sorry but I didn't get your names). They organised a trip for us to the elephants and were happy to help with travel arrangements when required. The rooftop pool was spotless and well maintained and gave a good view over the city. Would also highly recommend the restaurant, the food was delicious.

You could feel the change of pace as we rode to the hotel The look of the hotel exterior stood out from other structures in the area. The name gallery stood out as we walked in to the front desk. You are surrounded with artistic images of paintings, ceramics, clothing and crafts. The 8 story building has an artistic flare on each floor. The rooms are comfortable and there is an aisle to allow you to share you own art. Large bath area with tub and rain shower. Breakfast was included in our package and compliments to TK, who made us feel special each morning with special treats prepared by the chef. Excellent food and care and info to make our stay in the area better. The rooftop bar was good, but rooftop infinity pool was the highlight of the hotel. Lazing in the peaceful environment and the view of the city and hillside surrounding the city. The uniqueness of the hotel makes it a place we would love to visit again.

Their service was excellent they helped carry my luggage and even brought it up to my room. They introduced everything about the hotel, making sure I wouldn’t miss out on any of the good things. They kept me informed about everything. In the lobby, there was also an art exhibition, which was truly amazing. For anyone who loves art, this hotel is a must-stay. I also recommend the breakfast buffet it was perfect for me. You can just walk around and pick what you like freely. The dining area might be a bit small, but that’s not a problem at all. The location is also fantastic, very close to shopping areas, so staying here is completely worry-free. Whatever I wanted or wherever I wanted to go was all nearby. If you’re planning to visit Chiang Mai, I highly recommend this hotel you definitely shouldn’t miss it!

However I had an issue in our room on the first night the electricity in my room suddenly went out while the rest of the hotel still had power. The front desk staff came quickly to help but since no technician at the night they couldn’t fix it right away. They offered me another room but I didn’t want to move my things. The staff kindly let me keep my belongings in the same room and promised that no one would enter until the next morning when the technician could repair it. In the morning, the reception manager apologized and sent me a fruit basket as a gesture of apology. I was very happy with how the staff handled the situation they were quick helpful and caring. Overall I really liked the service from the staff. They made me feel satisfied and even gave me good advice for planning trips to different places in the city.

Critical Safety Incident and Inadequate water began leaking from the ceiling in our room (804), followed by a partial collapse of the ceiling material. This incident caused us considerable distress and risked physical harm. Upon immediately notifying reception, the staff responded with a grossly inadequate solution: instructing us to "sleep in the opposite room" without offering assistance to move our belongings or providing a comparable alternative accommodation. This forced us to retrieve essential items from the damaged room repeatedly, further inconveniencing us during an already stressful situation . 2. Unprofessional Billing Dispute At check-out, the reception staff insisted I clear a bill that included charges I did not authorize. Despite my objections, they repeatedly claimed the signature matched my room number. Upon inspection, the signature was clearly not mine, and the staff’s refusal to verify this promptly delayed my departure. I do not undertand why hotel accepted the signed bill which is not my name and even nationality, My driver to the airport was forced to wait until i asked again reception again, adding unnecessary stress to my travel plans. This lack of procedural diligence and customer care is unacceptable . 3. Lack of Accountability and Follow-Up Although the manager apologized the next day regarding water leakage, I sent another complaint letter via email after check-out but have received no response, maybe I already check out and do not need to care. I indicating a systemic disregard for guest concerns. This aligns with industry findings that unresolved complaints can severely damage a hotel’s reputation and guest trust.

During breakfast, TK, Prim, and Tortae always bring me my favorite dishes without even asking. It’s amazing how well they know me. The breakfast here is high quality, with a well-curated variety that offers great value for money. Everything is delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Check-in is always smooth, the room is spotless, and every staff member from Nim, Kik, Sai, Fon, Fluke, to Eve goes above and beyond. They even recommended tours that were just perfect for me. And when I need to relax, in-room massage service means I don’t even need to step outside. The longer I stay, the more it feels like home. I’m truly attached and deeply impressed every single time.

The room was great with a very comfortable bed and plenty of drinks and snacks. The bar and restaurant staff were truly amazing. I was so impressed with the simple but delicious fried rice with eggs and stir-fried vegetables — I had it every day, topped with a slightly overcooked fried egg. 😋 The coffee and Thai tea were also excellent. They have a coffee machine included with the breakfast package to serve cappuccino, americano etc, and I absolutely loved it. If I get the chance to return to Chiang Mai, I’ll definitely stay here again — and I’ll be recommending this place to friends and family too!

- simplyme4 (10/5): 5/5 for location, facilities and pool (but not bathroom door!) - We loved Art Mai Gallery hotel in the swanky area of Nimman. It's a twenty minute drive from the airport which cost us 350 Baht for a transfer organised by the hotel. Location wise it's spot on with lots of cut throughs to places like the White Market and the Maya Mall which are very walkable. For everything else Grab works perfectly in Chiang Mai. The bed was beautifully comfortable and there was plenty of space in the room with well stocked amenities. The WiFi was insanely fast. The pool was beautiful with loads of towels and six sun loungers submerged in the water. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious with the friendliest staff working each morning. Only slightly bad bits: 1) Confusion over which water was included. The nice glass bottles left on the side by the payable snacks were free but the plastic bottles within the fridge were charged. Odd choice but we didn't clock up a shocker of a bill fortunately. 2) The toilet door isn't sound proof- eurgh! Hate when hotels do this..it's not sexy hearing someone elses toileting habits! Play some music 🎵 😉

The staff were so friendly and accomodating from reception to breakfast, coffee bar and servicing. A really great area as well with many eating/ entertainment places so near. Superior room was just right for our needs close to the pool one story up. Looking forward to staying more than 3 days next year.
- TomandNikkiTravel (8/5): A Great Hotel but some rooms needs some TLC - We stayed at the Art Mai? Gallery in Nimman for 4 nights whilst in Chiang Mai and were drawn to the hotel for the artistic looking rooms and well situated location. We arrived late in the evening having flown up from Bangkok and checked in around 10pm. The check in itself was pretty swift and we were soon up in our room. The room itself was on the 4th floor and whilst it was a good size we soon noticed that there was a number of maintenance issues with it. The showerhead was missing parts so water was spraying everywhere and flooding the bathroom. The sink plug needed fixing as it just disappeared into the sink somewhere and the bathroom grouting definitely needed some attention. As we'd had a long day travelling and had unpacked, we left if for the evening and decided to discuss with the team the following morning. When we mentioned this to the lovely member of the team on reception she was visibly sorry for the concerns we'd raised and offered us a key to a room on the 6th floor to go and inspect before deciding if we wanted to move to it. We quickly popped up and had a look at the room which was immaculate. On mentioning this to her she advised she'd switched our rooms and we could move our luggage into the new rooms and drop the keys off with her to complete. The room (615) on the 6th floor was spot on, spacious and looked like it was recently renovated, none of the concerns we had with the room on the 4th floor. The location of the hotel in the trendy Nimman area is great. If you are into your walking the Old City entrance is about 30 minutes from the hotel which we did on a number of occasions. Really close by you also have One Nimman, a small craft mall with high end crafts and a great food court area. There is also the Maya mall relatively close by which is a much larger mall with pretty much everything you could need including a bigger grocery shop. There is also a 7-Eleven not 5 minutes from the hotel for any immediate needs. The breakfast buffet was good albeit a smaller buffet. With both cooked and continental options it was varied each morning so a great way to fill up for your adventures in Chiang Mai. If you want anything more than a filter coffee, just speak with the team and they'll happily make you a latte or a Thai tea or coffee. The team at the hotel are brilliant and more than happy to help and provide recommendations. We had a great chat with one of the team who made some recommendations for us for Songkran and what an experience that was! We'd definitely stay again in the future but we'd definitely be looking for the higher level rooms :)

- arydinsky (10/5): Very nice hotel with good amenities. Excellent location in trendy Nimman. Easy to walk around and find what you need. - We were really happy with the location in Nimman. Still close to the Old town and sights, but a really charming and hip neighbourhood on its own. We could walk to tons of cafes and restaurants and nice massage parlours. The hotel we very nice - roof top speakeasy and pool were great. Breakfast was small but had everything you could want. Staff was really attentive and kind. Pool table in lobby and art paper / easel in the room were nice extra touches.

- AlexRhysDavis (10/5): Great hotel, great staff, great location and more! - An exceptional three night stay which I thoroughly enjoyed. We received a warm welcome at check-in and our room was available despite a slightly early arrival. Each floor has a different artistic theme - we stayed on the 5th floor which was the modern art floor and the room certainly fit the bill. I loved the easel with paper in the room, such a quirky touch. The room was really spacious and comfortable, with plenty of plug sockets in convenient places, a good sized desk and a huge bed. The bathroom was also spacious and the shower was amazing (really powerful which I love). The pillows weren't great but still fine. The rooftop pool had great views and was a nice space, but it's a shame about the bar setup and I think the hotel should find a way to address this. To get a drink you have to push a button for a member of staff from the cocktail bar to come out, and then if you want anything other than cocktails they have to go back and call a member of staff from downstairs to come up, it doesn't make much sense and should be a little more streamlined (maybe a phone to call down to the main bar or something?). The location is a massive plus - it's in the Nimman region of the city which is more modern and has a lot of great bars and restaurants. It's a short taxi ride to the old town and Bolt is easy and cheap to get around. I preferred staying in the Nimman area rather than Old Town, it had a bit of a better vibe to it. The airport is also just 15-20 minutes away by taxi which is super convenient. We didn't have breakfast unfortunately as we had to be out on trips every day, but it looked great and the staff were still happy to make me a complimentary coffee to takeout which was really nice. Overall a great stay and I wouldn't hesitate to come back in future.

- Munira (8/5): A little too artsy farty to be practical ? - The staff were obliging and excellent allowing us an earlier Check in was so helpful since we just came from a long flight from Vancouver via Taipei - front office manager Nim was very attentive and a big shout out to TJ from your restaurant ! He really should be at the front office or in charge of concierge because he was so informative and helpful. Goes above and beyond to help us when we asked him about something. The particular room we had however was a bit of a hit and a miss. While it’s a good size, we find it lacks storage spaces. The open concept may be a little too open and a few drawers wud have been nice to have to store our delicate wear. If you’re stay a couple of nights …this will work but if you’re planning to stay much longer - this room is lacking the finesse. The bathtub has several steps - it’s like an accident waiting to happen. We do like the size of the bathroom tho. We also feel the art nouveau idea of having 2 lamps structure located right above the desk was superfluous as we keep knocking on them when we’re trying to make our coffee. Location of this hotel is unbeatable !!! There’s just so much to like about this property based on staff and location alone.

Great staff who obviously enjoy working there, providing friendly, attentive and efficient service. The immediate neighborhood has many restaurants, bars, shops, galleries and services within easy walking distance. And there is a major shopping mall (Maya) also close by. Highly recommend this hotel.

- Alejandro (8/5): - The hotel is good overall. We had a little incident upon check-in as we had reserved a room with 2 beds but we were offered a King bed instead as the hotel was full. After discussing with the staff, they gave us a complementary drink for the inconvenience. The hotel is well located in a walkable area. The facilities are clean and you get 4 free bottles of water per day which is pretty nice. The elevator’s buttons are a bit difficult to use. The breakfast staff was very friendly but you can skip breakfast as there are not many options. The pool closes at 8 pm and it’s not heated.

The rooftop pool was great and they have a button to ring the bartender for drinks. Will be staying again on our next trip to Chiang Mai.

First of all, it is only a 1-minute walk from Hotel to No.1 Nimman. It is very, very, very conveniently located. Furthermore, the hotel lobby and restaurant are elegant and simple, and there is an infinity pool on the rooftop and a fitness room in the basement lobby. As for the special rooms, they are quite elegant and equipped with small drawing boards for guests to draw leisurely. Finally, all the staff in the hotel are very friendly and smiling, and they actively help guests. This is really beyond doubt. I especially want to praise the two excellent staff in the hotel restaurant, Mr. TK & Ms. Prim, who always smile and are polite no matter how busy they are, and the General Manager Ms Ann, who personally entertains every guest every day. I highly recommend Art Mai Gallery Hotel Ching Mai with Cost-effective and high quality.
- A6261DHandream (10/5): Amazing Hotel!! - From the minute, we got off the plane and got a ride from the airport to the hotel which wasn’t very far, the location was perfect, The hotel was exactly what we wanted. It was very welcoming, centrally located so we could walk or take any kind of transportation to and from where we needed to go. The staff was amazing, friendly and efficient. The food that they served every morning was so delicious That we had lunch there and sometimes dinner. It was so convenient and fresh and friendly. The rooms were really nice. We had a king size bed. The bathroom was lovely, plenty of room, a nice view and clean. They also have an elevator that worked perfectly. I can’t say enough how much we loved the staff. We did not get to use the pool, but it looked amazing. We will definitely be back and definitely stay there for our next trip.

Didnt get to check out other amenities but there's a bar in the hotel too.

The only complaints that make it a 4 star review are that our room was very musty, had very little light, and the bathroom doors were broken; as well as the breakfast buffet was kind of sparse.
- Phil (8/5): - Wifi cut off at 5 AM on day of checkout. REALLY!!! They charge too much for extra services such as arranging transfers to airport or excursions. Beer is twice as much as the mall area where they have live music. I wouldn't mind paying a little more for convivence but I don't like to feel like I am getting absolutely ripped off and that gives you a bad taste for the rest of the stay which was very nice.
