- Mark (10/5): Wonderful! - Very relaxing, quiet, lovely atmosphere and lovely people. Nothing,
- Mandy (10/5): Great little getaway - Was so cute and relaxing. Quite and peaceful.
Clean and tidy and the history was very interesting What's not to like. Was amazing
- Dan (10/5): Amazing - Everything was amazing. Our host Sally was down to earth and in every way the most incredible hostess
The unrivalled history of this amazing family property and connection to the past has been shaped in tune with a modern experience and blended a farmstay with a comfortable view to the past.
We started with a garden stroll, swim in the huge pool, samples wine/goodies, walked the ground including the most beautiful church, then to town for recommended delicious food (Ragu), slept like royalty, awoke to a delicious country breakfast (cooked by me, ingredients in the fridge) then a garden walk and feeding the animals
Our family had a fantastic time - our only lament was to not stay longer Our short stay
- Corey (10/5): Didnt stay long enough - Lovely country station, great room and pool. lovely place to unwind and great for family nothing
- Kym (10/5): Exactly as described, a perfect getaway - The perfect one bedroom cottage with a cozy fire. Having breakfast provided, meant relaxed mornings with plenty to eat prior to exploring the wineries. Being able to do a self guided tour of the Station, gave a true appreciation of the property.
- Patrick (10/5): Awesome - Beautifully restored building in an amazing location. The peace and quiet
- Cara (10/5): Beautiful station with amazing history - We loved learning about the history of the station and the amazing family who still run it. They've done such a wonderful job with the information audio boxes which made for a really lovely time to explore the station's significant spots. We were so impressed with Bungaree and how it is such a significant place not only for Clare Valley region but for South Australia's history as well.
- Pauline (8/5): A delightful heritage property. Comfortable and quiet. Lovely to see the stars at night. - Breakfast provisions were excellent. Full kitchen. Comfortable room. Quiet location. We stayed for a wedding and loved being able to walk to the ceremony. Enjoyed exploring the property. Air-con was great and ceiling fans in bedrooms. Enjoyed a swim in the pool too. Small shower but works well. Limited hanging space for wedding attire. Would have been handy to have a foldable hanging rack for towels and togs.

- Michelle (10/5): Authentic outback experience - Such a historic place though so beautifully restored and maintained. The stone cottage was super comfortable even on a hot day outside. The bed definitely made for a good nights sleep. But the best part was exploring this gorgeous property which is a working station. The current owners who are descendent’s of the original owners have done a wonderful job and we’re so welcoming. We even got to cuddle with a little Joey and felt like kids again feeding the chooks, and deer and some rescue Roos. Bungaree Station is an experience not to be missed. It is magnificent and just so beautiful. Nothing to not like really!
- Sandercock (10/5): Love it here. Choose to relax and wander or heaps to do and see nearby if that's your choice. - We love the quiet. Breakfast facilities are excellent. Bed and ensuite were lovely. A couple of the internal steps were steep for oldies. A handrail would be a good addition.
- Carol (9/5): -
- anne (9/5): -
- Catherine (8/5): Very pretty and historic place to stay in the Clare Valley. -
- Tami (10/5): - The breakfast provisions were ample and of good variety.
- Slarkie (10/5): WONDERFUL SPOT - We had a gut feeling that Bungaree Station was going to be a great place for the four of us to stay, and it sure was. The farming aspect of the station was the best for us....great to visit the old tractor sheds and the huge shearing sheds, and the 4kms early morning walk around the area was one of the best ... such wonderful views over the huge canola crops.
Accommodation in the Council Chambers was lovely and comfy and had such a historic feel. It was October yet still cool so we had a wood fire in the evening. Kitchen was good, bedrooms & bathrooms too. Plenty of lounge space and a good outdoor area.
A big shout out to the staff too... the 'plumber' & Vicki in particular - so patient & knowledgable.
Sadly we only had one night as 3 would've been better.
- Shauna (9/5): - Everything!! The grounds were absolutely beautiful and it was so peaceful. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable of the area and the station history.
- Kate (10/5): We were privileged to have an insight into such an important part of Australia’s history - We were stunned to see the beautiful condition of the buildings and surroundings. The history of Bungaree is honoured without compromising the comfort of the guests. Absolutely charming ! Cosy fireplace was so lovely on a chilly night nothing
- Mcdonald (9/5): -
- Anne (8/5): Will possibly stay again. - Breakfast excellent
- Chris (10/5): -
- Ali (8/5): - Clean and quiet Expensive
- Hal (10/5): Memorable - Lovely rural setting, working historic farm, charming stone cottage beautifully maintained, 3 bedrooms and two modern bathrooms, wood fire and provisioned for a heart breakfast.
What more could you ask for? N/A
- Sandercock (10/5): Bungaree Delivers - The setting is unbelievable. I felt like I was in an old Australian movie. Staff were helpful but not invasive. The history and majesty of the place made me want to cancel my lunches and wine tastings and just explore the property. I'll be back to do that. Nothing.
- Cassie (10/5): Stunning stay in beautiful surrounds, can’t wait to return:) - Peaceful, comfortable, clean, amazing in every way Nothing
- Cate (8/5): - The facilities were lovely. The location was perfectly country, with a view of the the old shearing shed. Great addition of the bathroom in the tank, nicely appointed. The rain shower in the bathroom, while lovely, is not great when you don't want to get your hair wet!
- Green (9/5): -
- Whitaker (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Katie (10/5): If you like history about the past & love old stone buildings as my wife and I do, it's a must see. - The we intrigue by the history behind the property and how it dated back to 1840. We met the last generation of the Hawker's which were lovely people. It was sad that the government doesn't assist the property owners with the restoration costs of all the beautiful old stone building that surround the property. But what the owners have restored, is absolutely beautiful.
- Patrick (10/5): Exceptional - The heritage experience, animals, amenities, family friendly all were great massive grounds/ location I wanted to stay longer
- Sally (10/5): Great place to stay, loads of history - Location, log fire, breakfast, comfy bed. History…
- Louis (10/5): It was a great stay on a station where history has been preserved and attention to detail is superb - Very clean and most important breakfast necessities and firewood supplied. Such attention to detail nothing
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional - This place was perfect for a family get away. No reception in the house, meant limited phone use. The bonus of the kids getting to feed the animals each morning was a great extra.
- Vinka (10/5): - Exceptional, well equipped, warm and toasty in winter. Vicky was welcoming upon arrival, would definitely come back.
- Diana (9/5): Superb - Beautiful property with an amazing history Mother Nature is holding out on the rain.
- Stephanie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gliceria (8/5): Good - History and shared to the public Insufficient lighting in the vicinity of where we stay
- Yunying (10/5): Great place to stay. Highly recommended - Beautiful place No internet or phone receptions
- Rebecca (9/5): Restful, relaxing and great value for money. - Everything. Nothing.
- Ezra (10/5): Exceptional - The ambience of the property and the Stallion Box accommodation Nil
- John (9/5): Wonderful accommodation on a lovely historical property - Wonderful cottage on a beautiful rural property.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle (10/5): Fantastic highly recommend - It was so relaxing, loved your daughter got to assist in feeding the animals. Beautiful property so much history There wasnt anything we didn’t like
- Christina (10/5): It was like a movie scene. - Great location and so much history to explore. Very peaceful and quite. Pool was advertised, but out of service, because of the draught. The shower is very small, but today's standards. A nice set of deck chairs on the veranda and a little table for drinks in the lounge would be great.
- Shelly (10/5): Exceptional - The accommodation was beautiful and everything was so relaxing . The pool is great and we got to feed the farm animals every morning.
The staff were very friendly, definitely going back again!
- Craig (9/5): Superb -
- Andrea (9/5): Happily stay again - Wonderful historic location, beautifully restored 'Swagmans Hut" accomodation, very friendly and helpful staff. Rainhead shower awkward and not enjoyable when you do not want to get your hair wet, standard option preferrable.
- Belinda (10/5): Amazing relaxing stay at a beautiful property - A beautifully restored property in a lovely rural settings. Lots of local wildlife especially birds. Our host Sally shared lots of family history and our children loved the morning walks to feed the chickens, kangaroo, deer and more. Very generous breakfast provisions including farm fresh eggs. A great relaxing stay and very educational too.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christine (10/5): Beautiful historical Getaway - Great communication and accomodating for our late arrival. House is lovely and has everything you need.
Supplied with breakfast which is a bonus. Awesome to be able to see the property and learn about the history and to feed the animals. Barrista coffee on site was Great to. Tv size, however didn't end up using it
- June (9/5): Wonderful city escape - Only there for one night but a very enjoyable experience. Amazing property, gorgeous cottage and a beautiful evening to watch the stars. Nothing
- Uffe (10/5): Very nice location and nature -
- Rhonda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rebecca (8/5): Very good -
- Susan (8/5): Nice quiet relaxing break - Quiet location. Nice to feed the animals first thing and have a swimming pool to freely use. Space to self cater and outside seating area. Breakfast provisions were a nice touch and good quality produce. Rooms are looking a bit tired now and could do with updating.
- Gwen (8/5): Nice farm stay near Clare, with lots of history to it. - Lovely spacious heritage cottage on an old farm. Nice fresh eggs from the farm and bacon for breakfast. Our daughter enjoyed feeding the animals which you can join each morning. The swimming pool could have been cleaner there were a lot of insects/wasps in it and paving around pool needed maintenance and cleaning.
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional - Bungaree Station is an outstanding heritage site that is being skillfully restored. The gardens, church and working farm add to the enjoyable experience of staying there. Great, thoughtful service and very comfortable facilities.
- Monique (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chris (8/5): Very good - . .
- Mckysha (8/5): Very good -
- Julie (10/5): Highly recommend booking two nights as one is not enough. - Steeped in history, this fabulous working station dates back more than 160 years and we are so fortunate that the family has chosen to share parts of it with us. We felt very privileged to be able to learn about the property and see how well it is being managed and maintained today. Favourite thing other than walking around the property and looking at the church, woolshed , gardens and old machinery sheds was waking up to the sounds of the birds calling and the yummy breakfast cooked by my husband. Nothing to dislike, except we could hear the chooks but didn’t get to see them, and we only met one beautiful dog, but there must be more!
- Patricia (10/5): Exceptional - Historic property just outside Clare, very lovely host who gave us heaps of information and recommendations about the property and the local area. Gorgeous gardens and walks and very good coffee and breakfast supplies.
- Sally (10/5): Special part of our stay in as - Loved the history and being able to view the farm and historical buildings in a decent walk on a lovely evening
- Lorenz (9/5): Peaceful. Handy to wineries. Excellent BBQ pack. Facilities in the kitchen commendable. Very clean. - Breakfast was wonderful. Plenty of fresh free-range eggs and heaps of bacon which we barbecued over two mornings. All the cereals you can imagine with fresh milk, plenty of bread and condiments.
- Judith (10/5): Exceptional - All of it,coffee by store walking around gardens, church, graveyard, woolshed Leaving
- Louise (10/5): Just perfect - Spacious, clean, great location. Had everything we needed. Beautiful grounds, lots of history.
- Andrew (10/5): Bungaree Station is a beautiful, peaceful place to stay as a couple or for a family. - It's a beautiful, peaceful place to stay. Warm welcome from staff. Wandering around the property was great and being able to learn about the history via the information boxes was an added bonus. Beautiful old buildings, trees and lovely garden to walk through.
Exceptionally clean, breakfast supplies were plentiful and bed was warm and cosy. There was nothing we didn't like!
- Steve (10/5): Exceptional -
- janet (10/5): - A great place to stay in the Clare Valley. Close to everything and lovely accommodation. The place itself is great to wander round with lots of information about the history of the property.
- Mack (8/5): Clare Valley - We stayed in the Managers House.
The History of the station is interesting and the old buildings and equipment are nice to see.
Some maintenance issues to be sorted on the buildings before it gets too bad.
Especially the inside bedroom walls water damage.
Amenities are good and kitchen is well stocked and clean.
Beds are a little old and probably need some upgrades.
Fire place is easy to use and offered a cosy atmosphere to chat over a bottle of good Clare Valley wine.
BBQ packed ordered was excellent and well delivered.
Perhaps a recommendation would be to offer an additional side such as a potato bake, especially in the cold winter months when a salad is not really what you feel like for Dinner.
The area is lovely and quite with many birds. My only real gripe is the cleanliness of the BBQ area. It desperately needs a power washer wash with some strong detergent to clean the area around the BBQ.
- Joshua (8/5): Peaceful and secluded - It was great staying in the stallion box. It was raining but so nice just keeping warm by the fire and relaxing
- Ingrid (10/5): Fabulous Farm Stay - We loved our stay at Bungaree Station it was quite a remarkable place with lots of history and I wish we had stayed longer to soak it all in, the hosts were lovely each one making you feel most welcome, from the extra farm actviities for kids to parents getting some tips and info for things to do further along the holiday road trip it was all round fantastic. Generous portions and variety of options for breakfast was wonderful, we were late arrivals and my husband left his wallet behind and they got it back to us - nothing was too much of a hassle. Nothing
- Clark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Virginia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Samantha (10/5): Amazing country getaway for a short stay. 👌 - A very welcoming place and the staff are just lovely people. The views were beautiful, and the atmosphere was so relaxing. A great place to go with family for a quick weekend getaway or a chance to unwind and disconnect from the busy lifestyle. Nothing, everything was perfect.
- Matthew (10/5): Amazing stay, will be back soon hoping to see some sheep shearing - Amazing little stay and love the history behind it. Everything about the accommodation was perfect! Heating to keep warm on cold winters, facilities for all needs.
- Carol (9/5): Superb -
- Mikael (8/5): Very good -
- Heather (9/5): Cant wait to bring family and children back. - My friends enjoyed the coffee from the desk. They did not feel like bacon as we were keen to get going. The bread was average. The bread could have been thicker but ok. the variety of cereals was good but as I am coeliac not suited for me. The eggs were eggsellent(He He)
- Marilyn (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful property, full of history. The hosts are extremely pleasant and welcoming. Accommodation very comfortable. Nothing at all.³
- Anita (10/5): This place is a must for any tourist to visit. Very interesting place. List of history - Everything! The room was cozy & historical. The reception staff was enthusiastic, friendly & accommodating. The self guide walk was great the buildings, the church the accom in the old stallion room was fun. Had good choice of food for breakfast. Loads of wood for the fire. The animals on the property, horses, pony, deer, sheep etc. would highly recommend this place Maybe get a sausage to put under the door for those cold nights. There was a draught from under the door.
- Geoff (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vivienne (9/5): Absolutely an amazing and special place to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary. - Everything was fabulous. Loved the location and the self guided walk around the property. You can just feel the history! The frying pan wasn’t non stick and was hard to clean after our amazing bacon and eggs which were provided for breakfast.

- Jan (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely stunning location. The Council Chambers was perfect for 2 couples. Lots of historic charm. The staff were very friendly, helpful and informative. Will definitely be back! The mattress was very hard, so a mattress topper would make it more comfortable.
