Guest Reviews
- Barbara (10/5): Stay was ultimately great! Check in was fast and easy. Room was great! Bed was amazing! Cleaning crew needs serious talk - Love the whole kitchen! Full size fridge, dishwasher, dishes, range cook! The bed was sooooo comfortable! Plenty of room, judge hanging closet. No hot tub ☹️ cleaning crew banged on our door at 10am and 11 am!! Check out tent until 12!!! First one went as far as to walk right in writhing seconds of waking us up! Pissed me right off! That is not ok.
- Tom (10/5): -
- Sophie (8/5): - Nice rooms, good value for money. We stayed for 8 nights and only had our room cleaned once as they don’t come often, and one of the times they tried we were still in the room and had to refuse service.
- Charisse (10/5): - Friendly staff, clean environment, dog friendly, conveniently located. My only complaint is the sub par breakfast.
- susan W. (8/5): - A good hotel but had a few drawbacks. Sheets on king bed did NOT fit properly and kept coming loose. We found ourselves sleeping on a bare mattress.
- Erin (7/5): Good location but the Hampton Inn next door looked much nicer - The location worked out, the room was pleasantly large The outside look very unkept, weeds everywhere, I didn't think the building was open. Couldn't determin easily where the front door was. The light switches in the room didn't seem to work, I never found the lights for the kitchen. I had asked for a handicap room and this room did not meet those expectations. There was only a single grab bar in the bathtub/shower, no antislip in the tub.
- Beth (4/5): - I stayed at this hotel six years ago. It is not a luxury hotel but it was clean and I had no problems. This time I could see that things had gone downhill. Housekeeping only every three days. I didn't see that written anywhere. They couldn't even deliver clean towels to my room because they were shortstaffed. I had to put my dirty towels in the hallway and go down to get towels after getting back to hotel quite late. The couch in my room clearly hadn't been cleaned in years, my desk lamp didn't work, it just wasn't well maintained. I will stay somewhere else the next time I come to the area.
- Patrica (8/5): - Great Location...good staff... breakfast was average....not much variety....same hot food daily.
Furniture in room was very dirty and stained but staff came and put down sheets over furniture....pool was very nice and clean...very nice weight room...
Beds were comfortable....Al in all...good experience.
- Meldau (7/5): -
- Vicki (10/5): - Love the staff! Greet workout room. Beautiful park great for walking around the corner
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Upon arrival Thursday we were advised that the entire property was without Wi-Fi and that until it was back up we would not be able to get a key card and someone from staff would need to open doors for us. The following day Friday, we were still without Wi-Fi and then the building lost power. Electricity and Wi-Fi access were not restored until Saturday. Each time we asked the staff if there was an estimated time of restoration we were told no one knew anything and the staff looked as though we were burdening them with unwanted questions. Once everything was restored finally Saturday morning the remainder of the trip until check out Sunday morning was okay. Sadly we would not stay again.
- Renata (8/5): - I enjoyed my stay at this property.
- ricky (10/5): Inlaw birthday - Fanily birthday and 4th of July party. Convenient and comfortable.
- Clayton (4/5): June 2025 Visit - Staff was friendly, but condition of hotel was poor. Walls were marked up, carpet very stained, furniture was in very poor condition.
- Jamal (10/5): - Everything is Excellent
- Jamal (10/5): - Everything way too good
- Jamal (10/5): - Everything is Excellent
- Victoria (6/5): - The place definitely needs a deep clean.
- Herlyn (6/5): - Property need update, breakfast was not good, I have to unplug my own bathroom because the night employee didn’t want to do it, horrible experience, not coming back ever again.
- Laurie (10/5): - Tom was the best host. Kind, friendly, efficient, and helpful
- Amy (10/5): - The staff was super helpful and the location was excellent for our needs
- Truong (4/5): Nothing well - Clean Mattress so soft can’t sleep well
- Schmiedeknecht (7/5): Great staff, cleanliness could be much better! - The hotel staff was very kind and accommodating Half of the lights in the room did not work, outside of refrigerator had sticky goop on it and the shower curtain had black mold on it.
- Kelly (7/5): Good -
- Ferial (10/5): - It was great
- Ron (10/5): - They could use a check and sign out front
- Sandra (10/5): - Very clean and comfortable. I wiuld definately stay here again.
- Randi (8/5): Very good - Staff was very friendly! Our room was not the cleanest but we made due
- Anita (10/5): - My stay was amazing and peaceful even with the children being on springbreak did not affect me.
- V3873XVarielf (10/5): Extremely clean hotel, friendly staff and well managed - I had a great stay! Room number 200 felt like an apartment and very clean and very friendly staff!! Will highly recommend this place! I also had a chance to meet the laundry attendant Ariel and she was very helpful and I had a welcoming gift when I arrived from the manager!
- window083 (10/5): Very clean hotel and friendly staff - I’ve great stay, the cleanliness of this hotel is amazing!! The staff is very friendly ! When I arrived I was given a welcoming gift by the manager himself ( Nesh ) I highly recommend this place !! Will always stay here in the future manager is extremely friendly
- KRYSTLE (10/5): - Took forever to check in, the guy kept answering the phone and taking care of them while the line of people stood there and stared at him. Annoying. Otherwise, clean, quiet, comfortable, no weird smells.
- brennib2025 (2/5): Don't stay here!!! - We booked 5 suites for a late January 2025 wedding. The cooktops/ovens were filthy and unusable in 2 of the suites with doors that didn't close. (We had specifically booked suites with full kitchens as we were hosting a welcoming party and needed full size refrigerators and ovens). Some of the rooms had empty soap/shampoo dispensers at check-in requiring a separate visit by housekeeping. Overall the carpets, floors and furniture were stained, chipped and dirty. We contacted the front desk on at least 5 occasions with mixed responses and asked to speak to the manager twice. He was conveniently out of the building both times and never contacted during our 5 day stay. We routinely got locked out of our rooms by a glitchy computer system, requiring our keys to be reset. Breakfasts were very minimal and not well stocked. Many of our other friends and guest had the same awful experience whereas our friends and guests who stayed next door at the Hampton had very clean and stocked rooms, a well stocked and inviting breakfast experience and a very responsive staff. We are loyal Marriott customers and were appalled that it was part of the Marriott family.
- Bronwyn (10/5): - The owner and the two male staff working this weekend are amazing. Very nice and welcoming. I loved the fact of having a mini kitchen if needed.
- Cristen (10/5): - Everyone was nice.
Wish there was transportation to/from airport.
- LindaK48331 (10/5): Great staff and hands on management - Our hotel room was clean and comfortable. Also the staff was friendly and attentive.
When we did bring some minor inconveniences to the general manager’s attention, he responded within 24 hours and not only apologized, but offered some restitution. This was such a refreshing response, as we have stayed at other hotels where much more significant problems were dismissed and ignored. We will gladly choose to stay at this hotel again.
- Engin (9/5): Superb -
- Thomas (2/5): - This hotel is listed as pet friendly. It is definitely not pet owner friendly. After a less than 12 hour stay I received the receipt for the pet fee which was 2 to 3 times what I have paid at other hotels. I was not informed of the amount of the fee when checking in. After calling the manager I was told there is a special cleaning fee for all pet rooms and the amount is on a sign at the front desk. Of course I didn’t see this sign and wasn’t told by the clerk. My request to reduce or remove the fee was rejected. Unfortunately the nail clippings on the bathroom floor evidently weren’t covered by the “special cleaning” the pet rooms supposedly receive. All I can hope is that the revenue this property loses from other pet owners that read this review and choose another hotel will more that offset the money they extorted from me.
- Green (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (10/5): - Feels like home!
- Kirk (6/5): OK Hotel, that could use some updating. - Was a very cold snowy day in Michigan with very limited parking near the door. Most all of parking near the entrance is now for EMVs and then the Hotel Van so not real good when you have to carry your bags in a cold snow storm in the dark.
- Yuko (10/5): Exceptional -
- Traynea (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marlene (2/5): - This was the filthiest hotel I have ever stayed at. I PAID for six nights, and my Christmas was totally ruined by this experience. The staff was nice but could not help. I found garbage (food and dirty Q-tips) in the sitting chair and sofa. There were stains everywhere. A huge chunk of carpet was cut out and replaced with a remnant, it looked like a child tried to fix it. I killed several stink bugs in the room. There were bugs in the lamps over the dining table, the lamps were also water stained from a leak I am assuming. There were ripped curtains, stains and tears on sofa and chair. Crusty food on dining table, chairs, countertop and on the carpet. I paid for a two bedroom because I was going to have family join me. It was too filthy to do that. I would not even sit on the sofa or that upholstered chair. I asked for a refund and the man at the desk said I couldn't do anything because I already paid. Housekeeping came upon my request the day I got there, I left for 2 hours, when I got back all the same garbage was on carper, in sofa (I moved the cushions so you could see all the garbage). I told the guy at the front desk, and he came in and took the garbage out of the sofa. The whole space smelled like a teenage boy's room. I took photos of all of this. It is not just that it smelled and was dirty. This is a managerial/owner issue. The plaice is just NOT maintained. The ceiling had some patch work paint job, molding was coming off the wall, just a mess.
- Jatta (4/5): Not Marriott Quality! - It was okayyy. We were a party of 5 and only had enough towels for 3 people. I asked the front desk clerk he said he doesn’t know what to tell me but they didn’t have any clean towels. The pull out bed didn’t have bedding - I had to ask for that. No pillows making the pull out bed SUPER uncomfortable. We go to use the stove, guess what? The front eye doesn’t work and we open the oven and there is two pies left in the oven from previous guest. Nastiness behind the pull out couch is what got me along with the remote control to the tv.
- Cmdunnam (10/5): Pleasant stay - The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean. The option to cook was nice, and the full size fridge was great. The area was nice with several restaurant options, and there was a nice movie theater within walking distance. We would book there again.
- MandDgotoItaly (6/5): Acceptable, ready for an upgrade, not all ammenties available - Gave 3 stars as I don't want to discourage people from staying here, but want to leave a realistic review. We visited for 4 nights over Thanksgiving weekend.
Positives first: Kiyana, the staff person who was there when we checked out was friendly, thorough, responsive, and pro-active. I called a week ahead of time to ask a question about the room layout, and it was probably her I spoke with. Just lovely. The hotel is very much ready for a refresh, but surfaces were clean, I was able to use the oven in our two room suite to make Thanksgiving appetizers. Coffee and tea available at all times in the lobby. The location is fantastic and our extended family was able to gather in the lobby very comfortably. The breakfast (when available) was less noteworthy than a Hampton Inn (no waffles) but I assume that this is because there are kitchenettes in the rooms and the clientele's expectations are different. It got the job done. Would have preferred less sugary options for yogurt, oatmeal.
Negatives: I was greeted on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving by a gentleman who asked if I had stayed there before (I had), and he responded "so I don't have to give you updates." Sounded friendly enough, but what he didn't tell me was that there was no water in the pool. He did tell me that breakfast on Thanksgiving would be grab and go. He did not seem to appreciate why I might have wanted to know ahead of time that the hotel I booked specifically for the breakfast and the pool would not have those amenities. He told me breakfast hours when I asked, but did not offer that information. He did not offer information about the free pass to Lifetime Fitness until we asked about that. And he never told us we had access to the pool at the Hampton Inn next door (Kiyona mentioned it). We followed up with him a few times, and that information never came. He seemed very unconcerned about my concerns, but he did fix a broken remote control and provided us with the sheets and towels we needed when there were not enough in the room for the 4 of us.
I am sympathetic to the staffing issue on a holiday, a boxed breakfast with a frozen sausage biscuit and a frozen bagel was not really acceptable. It would not have been hard to put out hard boiled eggs and yogurts and milk, single serve cereals etc. I plan to call the manager and escalate to corporate about this, as well as the lack of notice about the unavailability of the pool. As a vegetarian with no way to toast a bagel on the go, I had to buy breakfast elsewhere. Knowing this ahead of time, I might have prepared and brought food with me.
The room was tidy enough, but was never serviced during our 4 night stay, and did not have enough bedding or towels in it for the number of guests registered to stay there. I was able to walk to the front desk to get these items though. The sofa bed was COMPLETELY unacceptable, and we were thankfully able to borrow an air mattress from a neighboring relative. The mattress was all coils and had stains on them, and, the exterior of the sofa was stained and icky enough that nobody chose to sit on it, let alone sleep on it. The heat in the main room blew mostly cold air, and due to the age of the other units, they were just louder than what one might find in a more recently renovated hotel. When we asked if there might be a room that was more recently upgraded, he told us the hotel was full, and also, all the rooms were the same. The hotel did not feel full, so perhaps they aren't renting out all of the rooms at this time as they anticipate a renovation in the coming year (we were told this was happening).
Would I stay here again despite all of this? Maybe, as we like the location, it was clean (besides the sofa bed...will bring our own air mattress next time), and we like to be able to have our own space - and the price is right for all of that. Perhaps it will be renovated before next year.
- Amanda (1/5): Likely the worst/grossest hotel stay we’ve ever had! - We found blood on the comforter! Obviously the bedding hadn’t been changed and we had to contact the front desk to get new bedding at 10:00 at night, strip all of the bedding off and remake the beds ourselves. The pool was empty for maintenance, with no prior notification given. The bathroom sink was backed up. The room had a kitchenette and there were dirty dishes in the dishwasher. A terrible stay! While aggravating, I could probably live with the pool being closed and the sink not draining, but the unsanitary feeling of finding blood on the comforter (after you’ve gotten into the bed), was the absolute worst!
- Ryan (10/5): - 2nd time there will stay again
- Heather (8/5): - Overall I had no issues during my weekend staycation. Bed was cozy and the room was good for the most part. There were some food stains on the door to the room and on the walls in the kitchen and the bathroom wall along the baseboard was really dirty. All the dishes were in the dishwasher dirty when I got there. It wasn’t a huge deal as this didn’t make my stay any worse but just a note to housekeeping.
- Jacqulian (10/5): Excellent - Cleanliness and quiet room Nothing
- 25travlr (10/5): Pleasant stay - We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in early October 2024 to go to a local family function. The hotel was clean and quiet. We saw Keanya at the front desk for most of our stay and for check in and check out. She was such a pleasant person to deal with and chat with. Anything we needed she took care of it right away like extra towels or toilet paper. She genuinely cared about how our stay was. This hotel has a great employee working there. No issues coming back to the hotel late. The building was secure and the parking lot well lit.
- Ryan (10/5): - Clean and convenient easy check in - check out
- Richard (10/5): - Rooms very spacious and well equipped
- Edward (10/5): - My wife and I spent an extended visit (a couple of weeks) at the TownePlace Suites Detroit Commerce. The major advantage and attraction of this property were the staff and their warm and efficient treatment of us. They were especially and unusually attentive to all our needs and requests -- always with a smile. The daily breakfast included choices of cereals and assorted supplements (nuts, raisons, etc), egg patties, sausages, salsa, bagels, bananas, orange or apple juice, yoghurt, chocolate milk, coffee, etc. On weekdays, Asian fare, including rice, condiments, miso sauce, was also available. The staff informed us that major renovations will start soon, and the hotel will greatly benefit from this. Otherwise, the location and services (laundry, pool, gym, kitchens in the room) are really excellent. Again, the true beauty of the property lies in the quality and attitude of all the staff!!! This seemed to us to be a tradition of the hotel, and was really appreciated by us!
- Edward (10/5): - Michael was outstanding & helped me with every aspect of my stay. He even was seen cleaning floors when he was short handed.
- Robert (10/5): - I booked an accessible room. When I checked in, my room wasn’t available, so they placed us in a different. The next morning, we were moved to a beautiful accessible room and our luggage was moved for us to the new room. The property is very nice (I’ve stayed here before), clean, good breakfast, close to freeways, but quiet. The staff is helpful and very friendly.
- Charisse (8/5): - Staff was friendly. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was subpar. Slow draining bathroom sink.
- 55MaggieW (2/5): Bad experience - The room was very worn. Carpet squares were dirty and shredded. We found mold in the shower and bathtub. The pool was over 90 degrees not refreshing at all. One water was $3.99 in the lobby. However I left something in the room a half hour later after we checked out they tell me it’s not there. Was not happy! Find another hotel that has customer service in mind. Complained to corporate was told they could not do a thing about it!
- Gwendolyn (10/5): - Continental breakfast was sufficient; hot-serve offers should vary. The same egg patties & turkey sausage patties got old ,as we were there for several days. We made it work with a lot of do-it-yourself prep.
All that said, it was a very nice stay & convenient location!
- William (4/5): Disappointed guest. - The kitchen was dirty and the dishes looked like were put away unwashed. There was dried food all over the fridge. I had to clean the entire kitchen including dishes before we can use it. There was a sticky substance on the rug next to the bed that I didn’t realize was there until I stepped on it in the middle of the night and pulled my sock off my foot. We had room service once one time in 8 day stay. The breakfast was terrible. Microwaved sausage and egg patty things. There was only one two slice toaster that barely worked. We would have left for another hotel but there was no other hotels that had rooms with a kitchen available and didn’t want to be charged for early cancellation fees. I have stayed in dozens of Marriott hotels, but this one was disappointing. The staff was friendly, the bed was really comfortable and the shower had good water pressure. I should be asking for a partial refund for spending my time cleaning instead of doing what we were in town to do.
- Emmanuel (7/5): Good -
- Joseph (10/5): - Great service and friendly staff
- Shen (10/5): - Great service
- Winnie (10/5): - Check in/out is quick and easy. Reception at the front desk is very warm and friendly. The room is very spacious, clean and comfortable. Bed is so comfortable. Will definitely come back
- Edgar (7/5): Good -
- Brittany (10/5): - Good stay
- Rita (10/5): Exceptional stay - The room was spacious, clean and had everything you'd want. There was a note that many items were available to borrow for cooking. We were only there for a night, we would definitely stay again. The breakfast was very fresh and varied. Lots of toppings for yogurt or oatmeal. Hot egg patty and sausage to make egg muffins with cheese available.
- San (7/5): Good - The sofa in the room has many dirty stains
- Hans (4/5): Disappointing - Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable bed. Streaming service in TV (Netflix, Prime) Breakfast selection and hours. Cleanliness of room (dirty carpet, soiled sofa cushions...). Location. Noisy AC and fridge/freezer, had to turn them off to be able to sleep.
- Nanette (10/5): - N I C E P L A C E !!!
- Hope (10/5): - .
- Lindsey (10/5): - I love this property!
- Bryan (9/5): Superb -
- psudino (8/5): Got the job done for a simple overnight - We had a meeting nearby and needed a comfortable stay nearby. This Bonvoy property was the best priced for the area. Everything was as it was supposed to be. Easy check-in, clean rooms, comfortable bed and a good location. It was a very good experience.
- michael (10/5): - The staff at the front desk were particularly helpful and friendly.
There while I was there.
- michelle (8/5): - Staff was courteous rooms were clean and quiet.
- Raufs (10/5): Exceptional -
- cheyenne (8/5): Overall clean and friendly - Overall hotel was clean and staff friendly. Sheets didnt fit bed well and kept coming off anytime you sat or layed on bed. And while room didnt need cleaning it woukd have been ni e if garbage had been emptied without me removing bag and placing it in hall
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Stay! - The TownePlace Suites in Commerce is centrally located to great dining establishments and shopping. Easy access to the highway as well. Breakfast is solid and the room has all the comforts of home.
- Hagop (10/5): - Clean, staff was very welcoming and friendly. We stayed for 3 nights. We will come again
- Jennifer (10/5): - Our room was very nice. I only issue I had with it, was that it didn’t seem to have been vacuumed as I found a couple fake, red fingernails on the floor. But other than that it was a wonderful room! The front door was not marked.
- Cheryl (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Everything was perfect except couch/bed was not cleaned between mattress and pullout
- MARCO (10/5): - Easy to access places, from shopping to dinning in.
- Nancy (6/5): Pleasant -
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Lynn (8/5): - Convenient to where we needed to be, nice diner next to property, noisy since on highway, SMALL bathroom, kitchenette in room, breakfast service subpar with terrible coffee, space not very comfortable for accessible needs.
- L8721IQjanp (2/5): Not a great experience - Unfortunately, our stay, there was less than up to par. Our first room was dirty, #204 and we were moved to another room with several issues as well.
*The bathroom sink did not drain.
*The bathroom was still not cleaned from the previous residence. There was something left in the shower.
*The bathroom door did not close.
*The handle was coming off.
*When we opened the refrigerator in the kitchen, it slid against the wall, and then it would not close. The room number was 223.
Very disappointing...
- Erick (4/5): - They allow pets and charge an extra cleaning fee, ok by me, but my room had dog hair all over the couch and even in the doorway area. The bed and bath were clean but the other hair was unacceptable. Also upon check in I asked about water for Marriott Gold member and this property does not offer anything for being a gold member. The breakfast had the least offerings I have ever seen before. The people were certainly nice but following the location rules.
- Sri (8/5): Nice hotel with good sized rooms and good facilities - just needs a little bit of ‘polishing’. - Great sized rooms, good gym and close to a families home The aircon doesn’t work very well and there was a little bit of rubbish left over. The cleaners need to up their game as we stayed here a few days prior and when we arrived there were a load of dirty dishes in the dishwasher. The breakfast isn’t good either.
- Sri (7/5): Overall a good hotel but just a few things to Polish to make it great. - Rooms are a very generous size for the money spent. Nice staff, decent gym and a good little snack area. Rooms weren’t cleaned properly. Dishes aren’t cleaned in the dishwasher so we had to run it ourselves. We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights, then stated somewhere else for 3 nights and then back to the Marriott again and There was rubbish from previous occupants in the room still. The breakfast is a bit mediocre as well and ends too early for a family.
- andyhN2379JZ (2/5): Horrrible place to stay - We booked 20 rooms for a wedding. It was the worst experience I have ever had traveling. The front desk was empty. No one would respond. A female yelled at me from behind the front desk ( I could not see her - I asked her for a name to reference and she told me that she was going to call the police ) she yelled from the back room that we had to put the chairs back the way they were or she would call the police.
- Towana (8/5): Very good - Clean
- John (10/5): The stay doesn't disappoint! Nice suites! - Everyone was super nice! Very clean! Close to good restaurants and shopping. Love the real dishes! Thumbs up for the staff! :0) The breakfast could use some help.
- Helayne (8/5): Very good -
- Kevin (10/5): - Rooms were perfect for a quiet night night for my wifes birthday.
- Kathleen (10/5): Will definitely look into using this type facility again when traveling. - Facility wasMore then adequate and enjoyable. Loved the security of room key entry at all doors but main entrance. Biggest amount of parking was in back and side. But
- William (10/5): - Clean Quiet, good breakfast, would definitely stay here again
- Mark (8/5): - A little noisy in the west facing rooms against the highway, and TV experience could be better. But, overall very nice property, and would stay here again.
