Jet41766579004 (6/5): Staff training needed. - 5th Feb 2025, around 10pm. Front desk female staff. Black curly pony tail. Your service attitude needs improvement. Not a tiny drop of smile. Showed impatient when asked to clarify directions to nearest 超市. Single handedly dampen Marriott Bonvoy's good reputation. Housekeeping team, restaurant team and bell boy team did wonderfully. Hotel itself is great.

cclia_see (10/5): Great service! - My friend had left her universal charger and shawl in the hotel when we checked out and only realised that after we checked into another hotel. When we called up the hotel to verify, they confirmed with us that we had indeed left those items in the room and they will help us keep the items till we head back to the hotel again few days later. Really thankful for their amazing service!
KaylaKersey (10/5): Wonderful service, despite language barrier - Stayed at this Sheraton for a few days while I was visiting Harbin's famous ice castles, snow sculptures, & historical districts. It's not all that close to these attractions-- but the cab drivers are familiar with this hotel and were able to ferry me back & forth in about 20-25 minutes rather cheaply. (Can't give actual estimates, as the rates were increased due to the Chinese New Year holiday). I found my room to be very well equipped-- lots of toiletries, a wonderfully cozy robe (necessary for Harbin in January). I stayed in one of the very cute "family" rooms, despite the fact that it was just me, because the pictures online were so cute. I would highly recommend for the fun photos alone. And I cannot say enough good things about the hotel dining. I went to the traditional Chinese restaurant for dinner one night, and despite the fact that there was no English menu, I managed alright. Staff made me feel very welcome, and tried their best to understand my ordering, wherein I just pointed at pictures of food on my phone. Anyway, it's a great place to bring kids & relax in Harbin, even if it is a bit farther away from the ice castles & what not.
ABKinBoston (2/5): Overheated, stuffy rooms, shockingly rude service - This is one of the most poorly-managed large-chain hotels we have encountered in a decade and a half of traveling in China. It was an exhausting and dispiriting experience from start to finish; not something we expected to encounter in a Sheraton. First, after having booked a non-smoking room, we were taken to a room that stank of cigarettes, and had to request a transfer. Both rooms were extremely hot and stuffy -- a problem we assumed could be fixed by turning on the AC on the wall and adjusting the temperature. The room only got hotter, and we were informed that the temperature is centrally controlled and that at this time of year the AC only dispenses hot air. (These conversations were held in Chinese; the halting English of the staff made that the faster option.) A sleepless sweaty night and a few bad staff encounters later (an old AC fan that turned out not to work was delivered to our room, flashing a light that read, "Out of water;" when we called again for help, a woman stomped upstairs, shoved open one of the windows, said, "You can't adjust the temperature," and stomped out), we decided to look for another hotel in Harbin and cancelled our second night's stay. The response of the assistant manager, Zoe Zhao/ Zhao Huiyuan, was what clinched this decision. She blandly told us that hot rooms were what we had to expect on a high floor in springtime, and did not bother to apologize for what we told her had been a sleepless night. She did offer to put us on a lower, smoking floor, but by this time we had had enough.
496charlesl (8/5): Amazing Housekeeping and Executive Lounge Services - Sheraton Harbin XiangFang Hotel - We were quite pleased with the overall great services at Sheraton Harbin XiangFang Hotel during our 4 nights stay (April 29 to May 02). The hotel is at a pretty convenient location which is adjacent to shopping center with supermarkets and many restaurants near-by. The check-in process was efficient with details provided to customers in quick pace. The bell service was doing a good job in helping customers with their luggage. Great thanks to Nick Wang and all the bell staff for doing a magnificent job and provided a good initial image of the hotel. Another amazing job was done by the housekeeping crew (Yeung and Yu). They did perfect job in maintaining our room (Room #1928) always in excellent conditions and they never missed any replenishment of supplies. Also they had left a post card daily on the table with good wordings which provided warm feelings to hotel guests. Very appreciated for their great effort. Only complaint was in the restaurant area. The quality of food and service for the breakfast were below par and needed more attention. Servers usually wandering around and pretended not seeing the dishes on the table. Sometimes they even ignored the customers for their need of services. It seems better management care is required at the restaurant. We then headed to Executive Lounge for breakfast after day one. The feeling was totally different. Despite the food selection is not as much as the restaurant. Their service was excellent and the staff was sincere and professional. They tried very hard to answer questions from the hotel guests and provided us good information for our trip planning. Special thanks to Lena Liu, Bonnie Shang for their outstanding job at the executive lounge. Overall I am still very impressed about this hotel for their superior customer service despite the need of management attention at the restaurant. Sincerely , Charles Law

The room even came with a fire escape hood! I have never seen it in any hotels before, so it was cool for me! No hiccup for us throughout our stay and we were very happy.

Betula103 (8/5): Excellent apart from breakfast staff - The hotel itself was very good, the room being spacious and comfortable. Although well out of central Harbin there are plenty of shops very close to the hotel. We were there for three nights and on each morning the experience at breakfast was unbelievable for a Sheraton Hotel. The staff were lazy in that they neglected to set tables properly with cutlery and napkins. When asked for cutlery they would just take it off another table rather than making the effort to get more. They did not ensure that used plates were cleared away promptly, letting them pile up on the small tables and were often very slow to replace food on the buffet and seemed to ignore most requests from diners. Much of the food was not hot, even the fried eggs were cold. One morning there were no omelettes or other eggs available for a while. The man then casually walked in, obviously quite late for work. Obviously the management allow them to adopt this deplorable 'couldn't care less' attitude.
larraineching (6/5): Harbin Hotel, expected much but a little dissapointed - Me and my friends, a group of 13pax stayed here for our harbin trip. Stayed for 3 nights. We were placed at a high floor thinking it would be nice since for the view etc. During the night, we realized that there is no AC only heater since its cold weather, we called to ask for humidifier so they gave, but after that night STILL, we werent able to sleep so well since its really not cold enough and air is so dry. Made most of us have dry throat, WATER is much needed during the night. Kept on waking up to drink water. 2nd day, me and my friends talked about how we felt with our room and everyone also agreed thats how they felt. One of our friends realized to switch to a lower floor as the saying goes cold air goes down. True enough when we transferred its colder and we had better sleep. I suggest to hotel if your not going to turn on AC, please put humidifier right away. As it is expected your guests are going to feel that way when placed on a high floor. Another suggestion is to put atleast 4 bottled water each room.
ZhaoXiuMei (8/5): happy stay - We stayed here one night. Loved the location-there is a supermarket nearby. You can buy 'modern' ice-cream from hotel lobby. We had a very good night sleep. Breakfast is superb with wide choice of food. However, we spotted a chipped mug at the restaurant.

AndeL560 (6/5): Sheraton Harbin Xiangfang Hotel - Check in tonight 9.00pm after visiting China Harbin Ice and Snow World. The double room was fairly large and comfortable. Basic drinking water and toiletries were supplied. A beautiful bathtub to soak in after a freezing day out. The problem I had was after filling half a tub of hot water, the tap start draining in ice cold water. Had to use the shower instead. There wasn’t anymore hot water either. I call the reception and they say I have to wait half an hour for the tank to generate hot water. Sheraton name gave me the impression of a four star hotel. I was rather disappointed!
Verified traveler (2/5): Delist this hotel to save Hotels.com 's reputation - 1. This hotel is "far away" from downtown Harbin. 2. Don't trust the map. When it gets traffic jam, you will need 1 and half hours to get to the airport. 3. I share with others in that the biggest complaint is a lack of the staff's profesisonalism and tardiness. Checkin takes 15 minutes. Checkout takes 20 minutes. 4. Once checked in, the locker was locked. You need a staff (which took another 15 minutes) to open it for you. 5. Some leftover food from the previous night was served in the breakfast. 6. This hotel is mainly for airline staff for group discounts and group tours for cheap discounts. Nothing to see around. It's in the middle of nowhere. And when you have an unprofessional staff, it will sure to ruin your holiday/business. Don't tell me I didn't warn you.

globetrottingwaves (10/5): Exceeded my expectations - I had read reviews about this property and couldn't disagree more with the negative reviews. The hotel was only a 45 min Didi ride from the airport, I had a nice check in experience with Nicole, and I was uograded to a lovely suite on the highest floor. The club lounge was beautifully decorated. Breakfast was tasty, and the staff were extremely attentive. I would certainly stay here again without hesitation. The prices are great, platinum recognition is excellent, and it was nice to do laundry with reasonable prices and quick service. I look forward to my next stay.
OlegS828 (8/5): Nice hotel but not convenient location - Hotel is very nice. Rooms are large, well-equipped, and clear. Staff is kind and skilled. My accomodation was on the 20th floor with a good noise isolation. There is a nice swimmimg pool on the 7th floor. Business hours are 6:30-22:30. Water temperature is +27 degrees (C). In the morning there were not many visitors. Unfortunately Chiness guests with small children occupied pool afternoon. Children prevented swimming. Parents did not control them. The staff also did not make any comments to them. Breakfast was delicious. Location of the hotel is not convenient. It takes about 1,5 hours to reach airport and 1 hour - city center.

huffmanmark (8/5): Clean hotel in a remote location - This is the only SPG property in Harbin. As an SPG platinum member I was upgraded to a corner suite which is nice and large. We stayed in late January, and the room did not ever get warmer than 15C/59F. (Outside air was -35C/-31F). As we checked out we mentioned the cold room, and were told that we could have requested a portable heater. I echo other reviewers' comments that the location is quite far from the city center and the ice and snow festival venues. Club lounge breakfast service was good, main dining room was not. The main dining breakfast food was not replenished, neither was it very good except for the egg/omelet station.
thetravelingpiggy (8/5): Nice hotel, location not so great - I stayed here to go to the Harbin Snow and Ice Festival this year. The hotel was nice - it has a good breakfast buffet spread. However, rooms are a bit older and not as spacious. Also location of the hotel not very close to the city center. There is a shopping mall next door, but it closes at 9PM, and after that there isn't much to do around the hotel at night.
williamlye (6/5): Large comfortable rooms, questionable cleanliness - Hotel is nice and has large rooms, next to a shopping mall. However location is a tad far off tourist spots- need a 25-30 mins taxi ride to the City Centre. This was still ok, and I got upgraded to a nice suite as spg platinum. Beds were comfortable and deco like a mini St Regis hotel. However, cleanliness and service is still questionable. I had strands of hair still on my bed duvet; and the club lounge had only one staff managing breakfast crowd- she was very hard working however all the food were slow to be replenished and breakfast at ground level- food not replenished too, service slow, and plates and cups were chipped. Concierge were also lazy and did not offer to carry our luggage although could see us struggling. Overall I’d give this hotel a 3.5 star rating out of 5! I moved on to Beijing and stayed in Westin financial street which was way better- service and cleanliness wise (suite was smaller though). Sheraton Harbin should send staffs for cross training or learning across other spg properties.

Except for the distance from the downtown, everything was fine. The swimming pool was closed during my stay. Lounge staff - Ms. Wang- was kind and helpful during my stay.
878shermanh (6/5): Pretty Crappy Starwood Property - I booked this hotel blindly as it was a Starwood hotel and I wanted to see Harbin and the ice sculptures. So I booked a year in advance to take advantage of room rates! Yes, you should  Something to note is this hotel is way outside the city centre. It is also on the opposite side of the airport. So convenient it is not. The property is a typical China Sheraton. Big lobby with a lot of empty spaces. The main coffee shop is closed for lunch and is only open for breakfast and dinner. So if you want lunch at the property you need to head to the dim sum restaurant on the second floor. Dinner was an adventure. We tried to get in to the coffee shop that was closed for lunch. They were very reluctant for us to order off the menu. They had a steamboat buffet and really wanted us to go for that. For individual orders, they wanted us to order room service! After much persuading their let us in. We order an onion soup and a pizza. Terrible. They really didn’t make an effort and didn’t want us in there. The next day we went again to the restaurant. To eat the steamboat. This time the girl asked us to go to the front desk to get a discount coupon. What?? You know I am guest who do I need a coupon. Just discount me. As the front desk was doing check ins and had a line a mile long, we just paid full rate. Really silly, really weird. Then to top it off there were two groups of guest there with kids. The kids, about 20 strong, were running round and round the restaurant. They were playing with the food from the buffet and throwing it around! No one cared. Staff or parents. Or guest for that matter. It could have been me as the only one to say anything and I asked the staff. And she said if she tells the kids off the parents will scold her. Where is upper management at this point to help the staff?? I was upgraded to a suite which was a nice touch. However, the hotel has no warmth at all. No note from the GM even welcoming you to his property. Maybe he or she gets lifetime Platinum members every day…..Rooms snacks are as usual inconsistent in China. Some acknowledge you as a Platinum member and give you the works. Others give you two fruits and nuts. And yes, it seems since Marriott took over my emails are being blocked by the Wifi here. Use to be no problem over the last 10 years with Starwood. VPN doesn’t work also. Seems to be blocked. The Club lounge is not a nice one. Tables joined together at different heights and a piece of glass put on top of them. One staff only manning it and so tables are not wiped or cleaned. The lounge is woefully understaffed especially at breakfast. We came on a Sunday and there was only one poor girl here left alone. All the tables has dishes etc that needed to be cleaned, tables to be wiped. This with guest asking her for things and all. A busboy should be stationed here at breakfast and happy hour. The Suite they gave me was huge. But again a odd use of space. There is even a pantry in this room. But the walk in closet seemed to use the bag racks from a standard room. My bag could not fit on the rack and definitely not built for two peoples bags. In the end we left our bags on the floor. Staff are indifferent here. A young man walked into my room to deliver the room snacks and walked out again without a word even though I held the door for him. He seemed shocked when I said thank you. Unfortunate. Staff seem beaten up in this place. Concierge were helpful but this is a hotel that doesn’t answer the email that is provided on the confirmation slip. I had to call the hotel ie international call; to arrange a car pickup from the airport to the hotel. The driver of the car called me and told me to get my bags and go to gate 6 and wait form him outside! In minus 30 weather! Not warm greeting with your name on a signboard for this property. As mentioned, concierge were helpful. I wanted to know where to go and what to see and they were able to assist. Same with getting transport. I am going to put the attitude of the staff and the way things are on the GM and upper management who I did not see head or tail of. It all starts at the top. Looking at the reviews it just seems like it is complaint after complaint and apology after apology but nothing is done. Location is not great either for the tourist attractions. Unless you are a die-hard Starwood guest, I would stay at the Shangri-La in Harbin if you ever come this way. At least the location is in the city.

GERALD (8/5): Good and clean, but front desk needs more training - Even though I had already made full payments for the hotel stay via Hotels.com, the staff at the front desk argued with me and said otherwise. Not wanting any trouble overseas and in a rush for my flight, I let them double charge me. Have written in for a refund but have not gotten any response yet.

Mike (8/5): Harbin trip - Harbin winter festival is in full swing. The area where the ice sculptures are on display is about a 100 acre area which will cost about $45.00 to enter. It is well worth the price if you want to experience the ice sculptures. Plan to spend about 3 hours touring the various structures and more time if you have children and they want to do some of the ice slides available.. Plenty of restaurants in the park area. Bring some warm clothes as it is cold but tolerable when the wind is not blowing. The Sheraton is about a 45 minute taxi ride to the park, and to the railroad (west station). The Fast train from Beijing South to Harbin West takes about 5 hours and if done during the day the ice on the trees is really pretty.

Melissa (10/5): Great service, beautiful facility, far from town - We had a great experience at this hotel. The hotel is beautiful and very new. Our room was very clean and well decorated. The staff at the hotel were amazing. We received VIP level service during our entire stay. The only small downside is the hotel is a little far from the main part of town. It took about 30-40 minutes to get to the main part of town ($10 cab ride) but the hotel was so nice it was worth it. Also the Chinese restaurant on the second floor was delicious and very well priced.
