Guest Reviews
- SuShi (4/5): Disgusting owner and clean your own room. -
- Lannon (8/5): Enjoyable. Near city and beach and beside hollywood. - The location. Single bed
- Desiree (10/5): - The place needs to be renovated and there is a shared bath
- Tomer (10/5): - You can’t beat this price. Shared bathroom is ok. Again for the price is as good as it gets. Bring your own bed sheets.
- James (2/5): NO HOT WATER, WE LEFT AND ARE WAITING ON REFUND - We left after the first night as there was no heat or hot water. The manager Julian was supposed to cancel the reservation so that we could be refunded the final six nights as we'd booked for a week as we were unable to through Hotels.com and he never did! Still waiting for our refund of six nights plus the $150 deposit he insisted on at check in. He is rude on the phone and keeps hanging up on me or not answering when I call. The worst hotel experience I have had in my life STAY AWAY this place is a total dump, holes in the door, no hot water and the guy who runs it is shady. I cannot believe this place is even listed here it takes all credibility away from your site.
- Carolina (10/5): Enjoyed my stay - The property manager is exceptionally helpful and friendly
- La (2/5): Very poor -
- Ronald (2/5): - This was the worst experience. Booked the room for 2 weeks. 438pm booked starting the day of. I contact Orange and the manager says he could not meet me to check in until 10pm. I text him at 830ish to confirm he can make it on time. He never responds to my call or text. I show up 945pm. He shows up at 1035pm and brings me through a f’d up looking building to a room that is next to an old lady who is telling us we are evil and the devil. I’m thinking.,,oh sht…this is going to be a hell of a 2 week stay. He opens the door and this room has a twin bed with a night stand…room measuring about 55 sq ft maybe. But, the size was not as bad as the visual…oh man…it was not pleasant and not acceptable and the wrong advertised room. He agrees and says he will cancel the booking and refund my money…in short.,,he dodged Expedias calls and emails. Doges my calls and texts. Couldn’t get my refund without confirmation from the property,,,after communication with Expedia…they finally gave me my refund. Hmmm.,,not cool.,,not happy about it still. Scamming thieves…
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This is definitely a budget place to stay. It was more like renting a room with private bath in a building then a hotel.
The place was clean and the manager accommodating to meet me at the hotel when I arrived at 3AM to check me in.
The cold-water spigot in the shower did not work making for a very hot and weak shower. The bathroom mirror was over the toilet instead of the sink because of the way the bathroom is laid out. The walls were blank, not one picture and no waste basket in the room. The bathroom had a very small waste basket. There were no towel racks.
Half way through the week I ask house keeping to change my bed sheets and she refused.

- Marina (5/5): Passable - Nothing Very very very old building that needs renovation loooooong time ago. Awful smell everywhere. Smells like erderly people 's house. AWFUL.. We stayed for a week with a shared bathroom. The housekeeper came just once the day before we were leaving, doesn't make any sence as she did not clean anything, she brought us new towels and toilet paper to the toilet. We used same towels for 6 days. I had to clean the toilet myself. If you will decide to stay here, make sure to buy airfreshener, cleaning products etc. There is a microwave and fridge in the room. Old TV that noone needs. No bedside lights, extremely uncomfortable bed. Better to buy a kettle and 2 cups so guests can make a tea or coffee in the morning
- Verified traveler (2/5): Six days that I can’t get back. - Upon arrival, the hotel manager was not on the property, had to wait almost a hour for the manager to arrive. As we got our room, it was not sanitary, dust are everywhere and on everything, the carpet feels as if it hasn’t been properly washed in a while. TV doesn’t work, microwave keeps blowing fuse, and there was an extension cord that’s got every appliances plugged in right by the window curtain, creating a potential fire hazard. Bathroom is shared with everybody, it’s not sanitary as well, black mold on corner of the ceiling in bathroom. Also we were not informed that the property’s roof was going under construction, workers making a lot of noises on the roof in the room we were staying at, would go on all day until almost 9pm. There’s also smell of smoking lingering from the room next to the room we stayed in despite the policy explicitly stated no smoking, and that there is a $250 fine for doing so. If you’re short on money, and need a place to escape, this place might be for you but be wary of the review I’m leaving here for future renters. Would not ever come back here again.
- Genee (2/5): - Nothing
- Elli (8/5): Very good -
- Diane (6/5): - The TV was outdated the bathroom shower water was dripping and shooting everywhere housekeeping was friendly. I would recommend this hotel location.
- Alexandra (6/5): I would recommend this place. Friendly staff. Comfortable room. - Great location. The room was a bit run down but comfortable. Good value. Could have been cleaner.
- Emery (4/5): - We went to check in and no one was in the property, that’s fine, things happen. We called the number, it was for the “main” office the lady was nice, she got in contact with the person in charge of checking in, they told us to wait 20min. 20 min passed, 30, 40 & by the 50min I called back. She called the manager again & he said he would be there but didn’t give her a time. We told her we still had errands to do & wanted to eat. We had a long day after traveling. She said it was fine as long as we check in before midnight. We left,we’re waiting for food (luckily only 15min drive away) & we get a call from the manager that he’s there and no one is there to check in. We told him that we left cuz they told us as long as we check in before midnight we should be good. He said he couldn’t wait & either we go now or cancel the whole thing. What?! Cancel the whole stay & try to scramble for a room for 8days?! We rushed over there, he did apologize for the wait but he also said we had to check in by appointment. That it said so in the email. We told him we never received an email, he said that sometimes that happens & it wasn’t the first time time happens or it wouldnt be the last either. Fine we got the check in process done he takes us to the room & omg! The shower didn’t even have a shower head, the water that came out of that was like a tiny skinny stream of water. There was a door in the bathroom that freaked us out. The area is nice but the room was ugly. We check out in the morn
- Brian (6/5): Does what it says on the tin - It’s a very old building of small apartments. The decor is very old but if you just need a bed and shower that works, it will do the job. Could use better light exclusion under the door and better curtains and locks. Parking is tricky so be careful to read street signs. Good location.
- Timothy (6/5): I I wanted to love this place with its cool manager and historic character. But with the electricity failing and whateve - Great vintage feel, each room different and the sum felt very LA. Not good sound proofing. Electricity tended to short out/fail. There were bedbugs or mites. Never saw them, but left with at least half dozen red itchy bites.
- Jordan (2/5): - This hotel is managed by the same folks at Del Flores Hotel in Beverly Hills. When I tried to check in to my room there was nobody on the site to register me. When I called the telephone number on the locked Manager's door and I was told that the manager could come in an hour and half.
I was given no information about this check in process.
I ended up staying at Sure Stay on Beverly Blvd, clean and cheap and light breakfast included. Plus the bonus of an actual desk to check in! I noticed many options in this area around Fairfax & Beverly Blvd.
I would avoid Wilshire Orange Hotel or Hotel Del Flores. Poorly managed and insalubrious places.
Keep looking around
- Anonymous (1/5): it was so cold - location it was so cold
- Sara (6/5): - Overall glad I stayed here, though it was far from perfect. Location is excellent for the price: safe, mostly quiet, convenient. I liked the quirky 1928 building, MCM decor, and good neighborhood. But not everything is going to work well if you’re paying half what other places in the area charge: you can expect issues with things like appliances, heating/cooling, shower, wifi, etc. Plus the manager is not on site and hard to get ahold of if issues do arise (and like I said, they will). Kind of an old school inn setup, not at all a standard chain hotel vibe.
Ultimately, up to you to decide if it’s worth it to you to deal w/that stuff in order to safely stay in a great location for way less. I stayed here for a week and lived to tell the tale, so if you’re on a budget and not fussy, go for it. (If you can afford to pay way more, why would you be looking at this hotel?) Enjoy your adventure either way…
- Micah (8/5): Very good -
- Indrajit (2/5): Very poor -
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This is a modest place, and not the cleanest carpet however I knew that going in. The location makes it all worthwhile. And, the other guests were quiet so I slept well. And, a great hot shower.
- Richard (5/5): Noisy and the bathroom needs renovation. -
- Verified traveler (4/5): Depressing - The shared bathroom was way below cleaning standards and there was only hot running water from the shower.. no cold water. The sink and bath and floor there were grubby. There was one towel given from Sunday to the following Saturday and sheets were only changed then so thats nearly a whole week without a clean towel. The curtains have never seen a washing machine in years and there are dangerous structural cracks on the balcony floor. The owner was there on arrival as i had phoned prior to my arrival but there is no replies to any text messages as with other hotels. No friendliness or charm. The good thing about The Wilshire Orange was the leafy green street it was on and the surrounding location. The room has a small fridge a microwave and netted window protection for mosquitoes. There is no air conditioning as such but a big plug in fan. in comparison was also very good for LA as most hotels advertise incredibly high prices. There are major improvements that need doing and if its just a bed and location then this place might suit a certain type of traveller on a budget. But overall the shared bathroom totally let this place down. A renovation or a good scub down urgently required here. No one mans reception and there are no Visiting Times displayed just phones numbers. The manager took well over an hour to arrive when i needed help.
All the plastic chairs outside on the patio were also filthy dirty and remaining chairs were all dumped and broken.
- Swantje (3/5): Wouldn’t stay there again - The location was good and the manager was a nice person Everything was really old. The shower leaked so bad that the whole bathroom was flooded after every shower. There was blood or something orange/red on our sheets when we got there. The pillows were paper thin. No AC.
- Mpiaka (2/5): - Room smells so bad
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Dear Escopedia,
When we choose to travel with you, we trust you
I was surprised at the hotel, could not sleep one night, I was sitting on the chair,,
In the morning I called and told them I was leaving
Because it is very dirty and unfit for human habitation
I crashed into such a hotel in Los Angeles
My eyes got infected by insects
Very dirty hotel, they are very rude and rude
Please get them out of your group
I request you to return the amount of the reservation and the amount of 150 dollars that was deducted from me
What's wrong, I didn't know it was dirty
Thank you for your cooperation

- Verified traveler (10/5): - My entire stay at the Wilshire Orange Hotel was very pleasant. And the Manager and staff provided excellent service, which made it a memorable experience!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - the room has not been cleaned for five days. i have to buy the cleaning products to do it myself
- Jamie (4/5): - No reception, difficulty in checking in.
- Philip (8/5): - Conveniently centralized (I could literally walk to the La Brea Tar Pits and the Peterson Auto Museum, as well as other sites), and with very friendly and personable staff, it was little things about the room that weren't quite right. The floor had paint stains, a minor thing I know, and was dusty. The chairs were small and uncomfortable to sit in, which is a problem if you watch TV from them or eat take-out at the table, or want to use your phone while it charges. The shower needed a deep clean; there was a dead spider. Again; I consider these minor things; after all you go to a hotel to see sights and have a comfortable bed to rest when you return to rest, and the Wilshire is very satisfactory in these regards, and I would happily stay there again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Nice neighborhood.
There isn't any staff on the premises. If you phone them, they come in 15 minutes.
- renee (4/5): great location - great location, spacious room, bathroom down the hall moldy, housekeeping for 5 nights non-existent.
