Guest Reviews
- Alan (3/5): Poor -
- John (8/5): Very good - It was value for money. The host was very friendly and helpful. It can be quite difficult to get to. He tried to make me feel as safe as possible. It was a bit hard to get to. And there was also obstacles along the way (the locals) trying to confuse or get some tips out of you. I suggest you follow the sign that says RCIF RIAD until you reach an open space and then make 2 left turns while following the meandering path.
- Franjo (9/5): Peace within the Medina - I loved everything about this riad: the bed was comfy, I had a private bathroom, the room had an electric heater, there was a nice breakfast and the host was helpful and kind. And then there's s the beautiful traditional common room. All in all, a wonderful experience. It really is impossible to find it on your own as Google Maps don't show many of the small dead end streets, including this one. However, this is the case with all the accommodation in the maze of the Medina and luclily the host is here to show you the way.
- Stan (8/5): Very good -
- Oksana (8/5): Very good - Comfortable, with good hot water and heater. Difficult to find even you are already living here and go out for a walk
- Anokguy (9/5): Superb - The husband and wife team staff is great! The riad is quiet. WiFi worked for me wonderfully. It was a struggle when I tried to reach the riad on my own. The Fès medina takes some effort for one to get around. The riad was discreetly run and not advertised or with signs posted in street corners like some other riads do. But once I found the riad no more issues for me to get in, get out and get around in the medina (and back to the riad).
- Sandro (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly people who run the hostel. They will always try to help you. The riad is very hidden, but they offer a pickup service, take it!!! You will not find the riad if you are not familiar with this area. You can't rely on Google Maps in this medina.
- Javes (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anna (7/5): For a short stay, small, very simple Riad . When you need a little more I don't recommend it. - Fatima made me tea, because it was so cold in Riad and talked with me lovely. Younes was also helpful The pillow doesn't smell fresh, not breakfast, the way of payment for accommodation is made.
- Ignacio (6/5): It was fine - The price is decent. The location is good , but really hard to find. There is no signs or anything that can guide you. If you follow Google maps you won’t get there. Once you understand the way through the neighborhood gets easier. The bathroom had bad smell. The shower was broken and you needed to hold the rosette. There was no curtains aswell.
- Raftery (10/5): Exceptional - Omg the architecture of this rijad blew me away. It's about 500 years old & has many original features. Just breath taking. The staff couldn't have done more to accommodate me. I'm a solo traveller & they escorted me to & from restaurants on request with no fee. They left me alone but always made sure I was doing OK. They supplied a great guide for me for me for the day. The breakfast was all freshly brought. The biligual staff were really friendly & very down to earth. I liked everything. Even the bed was massively comfortable. Plus there was constant hot water. Great location in the medina too. There's nothing I didn't like.
- Semir (9/5): Amazing and authentic experience - Overall amazing experience. Everyday breakfast at the riad was one of the things that made this stay authentic and great. Younis and Fatima's hospitality is on whole another level and I felt literally like home. I had some tours/trips booked in advance with other agencies and they helped me to navigate medina (the old town) to get to the meeting place since Google Maps barely works and it's like a labyrinth so this was amazingly helpful.
Roof of the riad is something you should not miss since the views during sunrise and sunset at so good!
During the night it was so quiet I think I didn't "feel" that quietness ever in my life.
Some of the reviews say it is hard to reach it and find it, however, it is easily reached from Place R'cif (tell taxi to leave you there). However, in any case, I would recommend you to ask through Booking messages in advance for them to meet you at Place R'cif and lead you to the riad for the first time.
P.S When coming back to the riad, you might get approached by random people wanting to "help you" (and ask for some money in the end) to find the place where are you going, because this riad is located in not that touristic and more local Moroccan family place, just tell them that you know where are you going and that you don't need help. I ended up having a few quality conversation with some of them and they didn't get any money from me, of course! There was no hot water during the stay, however, I didn't mind and didn't ask them what was the issue. Probably if I asked they would fix it.
Shampoo and shower gel don't come either, however, if you ask them they would give you. Also, there are many small shops in the streets of medina and in every you can get small ketchup-sized shampoo and shower gel packages.
- Lukas (10/5): Wonderful Riad - It is such a beautiful road. Roof top is amazing with unique views. They came to pick me up at a safe and easy to find location. There should be furniture on their amazing roof top with one of the best views in Fes.
- Margarita (9/5): Superb - I met a very friendly and welcoming family. I had a big room, comfortable bed and nice breakfast. The place might be not easy to find at first, especially in the evening. But once the host showed me the way, it turned out to be totally fine.
- Dawn (8/5): Very good -
- Jaafar (10/5): This is The place I Would recommend to everyone - I just loved 🥰 my whole stay in this Riad
Everything was just Amazing
Quite and super clean
Comfy beds and most importantly Youness and his wife were the most friendly stuff I’ve Ever Met
I will absolutely go back anytime I have a chance
Thank you 🙏 for Everything Nothing
- J (8/5): Very good - Nice, clean, quiet, safe Riad. Excellent wifi for online work / meetings. Brilliant breakfast.
Easy full ten points for the lovely hosts. The "Large Twin Room" was rather small corridor shaped room with low ceiling.
- Ratih (10/5): Exceptional - I’m the only one who stay in the property. Despite of the lack of english, they treat me so well. I felt like i’m stayed at a distant relative’s house.
- Rémi (9/5): Superb - A wonderful stay in the heart of the Fès medina. I would absolutely recommend it if you're looking for a true family riad in the city.
- Sebastian (9/5): Superb - The host was very accommodating, kind & we had a nice homemade breakfast each morning! The Riad is not big but very comfortable!
- Ozgur (7/5): Decent for the price. - - Friendly staff, they are helpful. - it’s in the middle of the Medina where it can be hard to find, but if you are good with remembering streets, it shouldn’t be a problem.
- uncomfortable bed/matras
- if you prefer a relaxed place, don’t choose this, because once you put one step outside, there will be immediately kids outside trying to ‘show you around’ but eventually in the end, they ask money from you.
- Ali (10/5): Great experience in such city as Fes - Everything. They have private rooms for very good price. None.
- Papa (9/5): It was really nice - I had a great time at the Riad. The staffs were really nice and very helpful. The breakfast, the room, everything was fantastic.
- Wong (8/5): Very good -
- Jack (4/5): Disappointing -
- Stéphane (10/5): Excellent séjour au Riad Mikou - Really good and affordable hostel with an awesome panoramic view over the medina. The staff is very nice. I came here for the second time and plan to stay here again when I will come back to Fez
- Didier (3/5): Expensive for what it worths - Quietness Some wires going out of the wall in the bathroom. Toilet flushing mechanism not working, the riad keeper was not really friendly and very quiet. The room was quite small. Overall impression, more expensive than what it worths. Note: there is no satellite flat screen TV as mentioned (even if I don't mind) & no wardrobe in the room
- Nadir (10/5): Great staff and hospitality! I would recommend you to stay and ask for anything like airport transfer and city tour etc -
- Ivo (9/5): Superb - The staff was very nice and helpful. The atmosphere of the riad was authentic The bathroom could be better
- Maxim (9/5): beautiful riyad, friendly staff, but there were aome difficulties. nevertheless, I recommend - Wonderful very beautiful Riyadh in Fez, traditional style -- high ceilings, zellige on the floor in the room and everywhere, etc., etc. Unfortunately, the staff spoke to me almost exclusively in gestures (which is strange, because I know enough French, Spanish, and even a little Darija). Also it is not easy to find the riyad on your own, even if you walk from Bab Rcif. Also, obviously, the idea of coming to Fez during Ramadan was not the best: you have to talk in whispers during the day because everyone is asleep, you can only smoke on the roof, etc.
- Eleonora (10/5): Loved everything of my stay... Thank you again - Fantastic stay with a lovely Moroccan/Amazigh family! It was like being at home and will definitely come back
- Adil (10/5): It was a joyful stay in riad mikou thanks 👍 for all. - Every thing Nothing
- Derek (9/5): A very happy stay, actually I stayed twice - Good family run Riad, quiet and friendly, Younes is always on hand to help with anything you need. And please treat yourself to a home cooked meal here, Fatima is a fantastic cook and her food should not be missed. If you like, Fatima is happy to teach you how to cook Moroccan food in the Riad's Kitchen. Once you have your bearings it's a good place to stay in the quieter part of the Medina, near place Ricif. It's a little hard to find on your own, if arriving from Fes Airport I recommend you let Riad Mikou organise a shuttle taxi for you so you can be taken there the first time....
- Hamzaahmed99 (6/5): Pleasant - There was nothing special about the place, everything was just alright. First, the location of the hotel itself! It's located inside the dense medina and it's difficult to trace it.
Second, the alleys leading to the hotel itself are not clean. Plus there's a ventilation problem inside the rooms, hence there was a lingering stench when I entered the large twin room.
Third, the staff is greedy.
Lastly, avoid staying in any hotel/hostel inside the medina. It's not worth it!
- Jody (8/5): Very good -
- Andres (8/5): Very good -
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - Hospitality and spontaneity of Youness. Nothing
- Jozsef (8/5): In the medina! - This is a traditional riad in the middle of the mediaval medina of Fes. The room was okay and the staff friendly. I had a simple Moroccan breakfast and spicy dinner every day. Eunis is a very friendly and helpfull local staff member. He helped me several times with various matters. You can join organized trips. The owner Adile will help you with the arrangements. I went on a trip to Volubilis and Meknes! Ryanair boarding cards, when departing from Morocco, MUST BE PRINTED on paper as mobile boarding cards in your smartphone are NOT accepted at the airport. Do this as soon as possible and do not leave this printing issue to the last hours! I had tremendous difficulties in finding a printing place the last morning, just before departure though Eunis followed me to several places. Finally, also this issue was resolved, thanks to Eunis.
- Hussein (7/5): Good -
- Kashif (10/5): Can't wait to go back! - The hosts were amazing! They are so helpful and you can ask them for any information/tips on getting around.
Had a lovely sized room...we have two young children and it was perfect for us. Family friendly environment. Very easy access to the medina and blue gate is all walking distance. Would definitely go back again and recommend to family/friends, yunus and his wife made us feel very welcome! Not a negative but would advise to get the hotel to arrange transport for you or meet you to find your way to the riad. It is difficult to navigate the alleyways especially after a long journey with luggage!
- Bernardo (9/5): Superb - As the medina is a real labyrinth and can be scary, they were really helpfull: always available to help, guide and give us tips. We accepted the offer of them arranging a taxi from the airport to the gate where they would be waiting for us and guide us to the riad inside medina, and we highly recommend doing this. Amine, Younees and Fatima are very friendly, we enjoyed talking to them a lot. Amine guided us through the streets of medina and we learned more about the culture because of him! They showed to be available at any time we needed.
- Lisa-annabell (10/5): Exceptional - good atmosphere, Friendly people
- Monika (10/5): Good location, Warm, kind owners - Riad Mikou is situated in the old Medina a short walk from the main road. It is family owned. The Riad is neatly kept and the room is spacious with an ensuite bathroom and comfortable beds. They also have a terrace. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. The owner made sure that my stay in Fes was memorable. He organized a tour around the Medina for me, helped me book a day tour to Chefchauen and even took me to the tannery himself. Truly a good choice!
- David (9/5): Great people in a humble peaceful hotel - Amazing welcoming personnel. Welcoming me with free food after a long day outside, making me free tea with mint. Talkative and very friendly. Helped with finding a way out of the hotel which was very helpful since the hotel is impossible to find without help. Immediately reacted to all needs I've had. Riad Mikou is in the depths of the Medina, in a very calm and peaceful place. In conclusion, it's a very good hotel for the price thanks to the customer service and coverage of basic amenities, which is why I rate with a 9. I was going to rate my stay lower, but then realized that you get what you pay for. The hotel is very difficult to find and to get to the hotel you have to pass through a very obnoxiously loud area which might not fit everybody as not everybody is looking for an adventure. The bathroom smells due to faulty piping (I do not think this is the hotel's fault), the bed is tough to sleep on, the furniture is very old letting off a stale smell, the shower has no complimentary shampoo or shower gel. The paint is peeling off in the bathroom, some light bulbs don't work, and there are exposed wires (not within reach therefore not harmful). The WiFi is very unstable and the internet speed is slow. Weak signal reception for mobile internet and calls. no shower curtains causing water being all over the place in the bathroom. Do not expect the usual comforts of a 3-star hotel. You will find peace (only hearing birds), humility and very friendly people in Riad Mikou. On top of that, I have found appreciation for the comforts I get in a usual 3-star hotel.
