Although it is actually made with part of a log cabin, it has been added to and remodeled with all the modern amenities. The decor is very light and airy and there are plenty of windows. It is beautifully done and very comfortable. The breakfast was fantastic. I only wish we could have stayed there longer.

We felt like family, the moment we walked in. We booked the 2br suite for two adults and two teenagers, and were quite comfortable. The area is strikingly beautiful and convenient to downtown Harrisonburg and James Madison University. I wouldn’t hesitate to book here again, when we find ourselves back in the area. Pro tip: Be sure to make time for some “front porch sittin’” in the evenings. Watching the sun setting behind the distant mountains is a true blessing, and the perfect way to end your day. If you enjoy beautiful bucolic views and the slower rhythms of life, book with confidence… this place is for you.

Silver Lake was outstanding and recommended for your lodging needs. Wonderful staff greeted us and met all of our needs and requests. The property and our room were well maintained, clean, fresh, and homey. Hands down the best experience in a rural country setting and not the "180 room motel/hotel experience we all know". We plan to return.

Our room the Garden Room was just not what we were expecting.The first thing I noticed in the room was that the bathroom had used bottles of shampoo,conditioner etc to be used not what I was expecting. I went to take a shower and the water was not draining it was just staying at my feet the whole time and a piece of something black came up looked like an eyelash.. then we went to breakfast. For breakfast scrambled eggs with peppers and 1 piece of bacon and a breakfast bowl. And we all sat there eating with no napkins. We were so disappointed we cut our trip short because we were not sure of the cleanliness of the place.

It was also great to be able to sit out on the covered porch. If you are a light sleeper, I’d bring a fan or use some white noise on your phone while sleeping if other guests are still up and moving around.

I loved the period furniture, the wrap around porch, and the beautiful trees shading the porch. The bed was comfortable and we had our own room temperature control.

The noise level that travels between rooms and between floors is shocking. I was woken up by an animated convo that went on between 11:47pm and 1:00am. Just awful. The bed was noisy and sagging and only had 3 slats. The proprietors have no clue what they are doing. The property is pretty but that’s it. HUGE disappointment.
