- Fabrizio (7/5): Good - Clean and proper Wi-fi was not working for most of the time, when working was extremely slow. As i was there for 8 days for business, was a mess !!
- Sheila (7/5): Good -
- Max (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rodrigo (2/5): - I was staying with you last week and an object, an orange bag, disappeared from my room. I contacted the manager, and he didn't resolve it. As I had a flight, I needed to leave the hotel and they told me they would get in touch. What did not happen. How can we proceed with this? They were important objects and documents
- Amirol (8/5): Nice. - Location is good for business trip. Easy access to nearby local food shop and convenience store. Room carpet have some stain spot.
- Mohamed (8/5): Very good -
- Mohamed (8/5): Very good -
- Eugen (4/5): okay for 1 night. - Surrounded by many small traditional restaurants, food shops, McDonald’s, pharmacy, 7/11.
Close to industrial area. Breakfast was okay. Some members were very friendly did a good service. Bit weird hotel, quite dirty everywhere and they seem not to clean very well. The floor in the room was full of stains, quite ugly. Lift and hallways need cleaning and repair urgently. If possible I try to avoid this hotel.
- anitabW6486RC (4/5): A bit of a tough stay - I was here for work for a few weeks, and write this review based on my experiences in room 1620. I'll begin with the positive parts.
One of the best things about the room was the view, which included a spectacular moonrise, as well as multiple breathtaking sunrises.
I was also glad to have multiple dining options right next door, like a 30-second walk from the front entrance of the hotel. There were at least a half-dozen great choices, each with slightly different menus. I strongly recommend the noodle place on the lower level, as well as Lawson's convenience store.
The staff at the hotel was hard-working and friendly, although few spoke much English. However, all were adept at using phone translations to communicate, and were very receptive to finding ways to help.
The room itself was sufficient, with fresh water bottles each day, and full dispensers of shampoo and conditioner. And I appreciated the built-in clothesline in the shower, to dry lightweight laundry.
Although the room did not include an iron, there was one available for free use in the coin-operated laundry room on the ground level.
Breakfast was predictable and sufficient, including coffee and tea, cold vegetables for salad, pickled vegetables, two kinds of cold cereal, congee, multiple kinds of bao (including the custard kind, my favorite), as well as hard-boiled eggs, a green vegetable each day, purple potatoes, corn on the cob, rice, and pasta. Most days included a customized noodle soup option, but this was often not available until a little later (like 8).
There was much to appreciate about this hotel! But there were also a few factors that made the stay difficult overall.
First, the overpowering smell of cigarette smoke was so frustrating. It's a non-smoking hotel, but on multiple nights, the smell of fresh cigarette smoke was shockingly strong. Each time I complained, the front desk sent a security guard to sniff the air in my room, but no culprits were ever identified, and the bad air continued.
Second, the internet access was tremendously unreliable to the point it was not functional most evenings. This made it impossible to engage in necessary work in the evenings. Even the hard-wired computers in the hotel lobby did not have reliable internet. This is a serious issue to be addressed if we will continue to stay here.
Third, the carpeting in the rooms was pretty disgusting. My room's carpeting was heavily stained and worn, and the daily housekeeping service did not include vacuuming (evidenced by a peanut I accidentally dropped in an obvious location that remained in place for at least 6 days).
Finally, in spite of the restaurant choices right next door, the location is not great. It's not really walkable to anything of interest (aside from the university).
Overall, this was an okay but difficult stay, challenging for the reasons mentioned (primarily the cigarette smoke and the terrible internet connectivity). The highlight was the staff.
- 741gmail (10/5): Good stay - The hotel is good and the service was excellent. Only the location is far away from shanghai, still it depends on where you want to go. The subway is 10 min away from the hotel by taxi. But overall the stay was good.
- karenmW7819KX (4/5): Air quality INSIDE the hotel is a problem - Most people who stay here are here on business (so they have no choice). The beds were comfortable, rooms bright, breakfast buffet ok, the carpets are dirty and the fans circulate dirty air. There is a smell of construction dust/pollution in the rooms, and smoking from other rooms (which is not allowed) comes in through the vents in the bathrooms. Of the 12 of us who stayed for a couple of weeks, at least 4 developed respiratory problems. As a western chain, please do better, Holiday Inn Express! When I checked in the carpet outside the bathroom was soaked. I used a towel to sop it up, and it dried, but I’m sure mold is growing in these rooms. Also, the HI Exp website and google maps has this hotel in the wrong part of the Shanghai area; TripAdvisor is accurate. The hotel has a self-serve washer and dryer which was much appreciated. English is limited, but this is not a surprise in hotels like this in China. Patience is useful.staff are attentive, as much as they can be with limited understanding.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - it was my worst experience ever - one had to contact them to arrange check in as they don't have reception (according to the website) - but they don't answer the phone so it was impossible to reach them and check in - and not money was refunded.
- Verified traveler (6/5):
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Ke (8/5): 2nd time stay - Good new hotel. Clean and nice. Breakfast need improvement
- S (6/5): Needs more improvement? - Dirty carpet and cigarette smell in the room.
More Vegetarian options for breakfast
English speaking crew at breakfast so we know if certain foods are vegetarian
A vegetarian sticker on the menu
- rick (2/5): Everything filthy - Filthy elevator. Filthy, under supplied breakfest.Filthy elevator. Filthy, under supplied breakfest
- TZLondon (6/5): Not a holidays Hotel - I think this hotel will work for business people who need to stay in the area. Not a hotel for holidays at all.
We were deceived by the map and the fact a tube station seems to be close by.... well it is not true. The Metro station is about 15 min by taxi and from there to Shanghai city centre is an hour or so.
We arrived at Puntong Airport and it took almost 1 and a half hour to get to the hotel by taxi which was very expensive. We arrived late at night and the poor girl at reception didn't speak any English and had some issues with our booking... so imagine the frustration at 2am. When we got to our room the Air Con didn't work properly and the room got to 28 degrees, it was boiling. After the worse night of our 2 weeks trip in China we went for breakfast and it wasn't anything great although we had had worse than that.
Over breakfast we booked another hotel in the centre of the town (which was great) and left this hotel and lost the money for the other two night we had remaining.
Don't book if you are wanting to do some sightseeing. What you save on the price of the hotel you will spend it on transport and you will miss the amazing Shanghai
- mohammedj86 (8/5): Definitely would recommend - Chose this hotel due to its proximity to the F1 track.
Apart from language barrier, everything was upto the mark.
Clean and secure rooms.
Convenient location (Only for the F1, 1 hour commute to city by metro)
Helpful staff
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Kaitlin (2/5): Impossible to find! Waste of time and money - Do not stay in this hotel! It was the worst experience of the trip! I mapped it to the location in their email& it took us to an entirely wrong destination. We spent a lot of money/time getting to this location & a lot of time wandering around looking for this non-existent hotel! When we called the number from the email it went straight to voice mail. After an hour of wandering around & asking people where this hotel is, we found a Chinese local that spoke English and asked her to type into her phone the hotel "location" in Chinese maps &then send us the address in Chinese to show a cab driver. Once this very nice local did this for us &we got into another cab,the taxi took us out of the city for 40mins until we were past the airport. We double checked that he did type the right location into his maps app and went to the right spot but there was no hotel there! The cab was ridiculously expensive (over 200 rmb) and used up all of our weekend money (we complained about how he ranked up the meter because he kept stopping, because no one knew where this place was! And then he called the police -so we just payed him way over the fair price and got out of the cab into the middle of nowhere!) We had no idea where we were &ended up having to take public transit for 6 hours to get home to our residence just outside of Shanghai. We paid for the hotel for the a nice weekend get away but by the end we had no more money to look for this place. I am convinced it doesnt exist! What a scam!
- YOUNG JIN (8/5):
