Breakfast and dining room were very impressive and breakfast staff was fantastic. The lady at the desk was very patient and helpful. Easy access to the malecon for sunsets and interaction with the wonderful local people. We enjoyed our four night stay and our day boat trip to one of the beaches .

No tuvimos acceso a la piscina los días domingo y lunes por mantenimiento (nuestra estadía era de sábado a lunes). La ducha en malas condiciones (sin agua caliente, ni presión). Tampoco cortina. Las luces del balcón las apagaron a las 9 PM el 31 de diciembre y era el lugar en donde estábamos compartiendo.

CJKLuxembourg (4/5): Might have been lovely once ..... - This feels like a grand institution from the past fallen on hard times, and in Buenaventura that means something. The whole building is chronically undermaintained - no room keys while I stayed, shower heads removed in all three rooms I checked. Staff are demoralised.

Jose luis (8/5): Buen Hotel, pero no me dieron Factura!!! - Todo Muy Bien hasta que al momento de hacer Check out me indican que el cobro a la tarjeta no se había realizado aun y que no me podían emitir la Factura. Esto es fatal puesto que la factura es obligatoria para todo establecimiento debidamente constituido ademas de que es indispensable para presentar el reporte de gastos en mi compañía.

MonBelE (8/5): Could be better but still a good option - This is and old building (almost 100 years old), they have a good service, it's clean and the hotel offers a pretty view, but they really need to invest in the rooms. The hotel is comfortable enough if you go for a shot trip, the bathrooms aren't nice, but again, it's clean and organized. There are not a lot of options in Buenaventura besides this hotel an Cosmos Pacifico, and both of them are located in the "best" part of the city.

roryt759 (4/5): Looks can be deceiving! - Probably the most beautiful building in Buenaventura. Decided to have dinner there with my family. We took our seats and after 15 minutes I had to go and ask someone to take a drink order. My wife had to ask for our table to be cleaned as it was so grubby. We finished our drinks and nobody came to offer more drinks or even a menu. I went to ask for the bar tab and no one could be found that was able to process the bill. I calculated what I owed and left the cash on the table. Appalling service.

Es un hotel que puede mejorar mucho su servicio por su tradición y su excelente ubicación en la zona turística.

louisav152 (10/5): Very nice - The hotel was beautiful. All of the staff was so nice and helpful. The food was great and you are able to sit on the veranda and watch the water. I felt very secure in this area, the hotel had security as well. Beautiful part of the world.
joses128 (6/5): Beautiful building, excellent staff, average food and dated decor. - I stayed in the Hotel Estacion for two nights. The building is a beautiful construction, very well kept. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the location very convenient if you have business in the insular side of Buenaventura. That being said, food is average, servers while friendly are not very well trained and it takes a while to get even a cup of coffee (15+ mins). The rooms are comfortable but the fixtures are dated, the shower-heads leave a lot to be desired and door-lock systems are spotty at best. I had to try at least 4 times every time I wanted to open my room door. I would return, if only for the easy, genuine smile of their friendly staff.
Easylivingtravel (8/5): NICE PLACE TO EAT AND ENJOY THE WATER VIEW - When I inquired about hotels in Buenaventura about 2 years ago this was the only one that met my standards, however I never made to Buenaventura back then. I went to Buenaventura this year and stayed a better hotel but I was curious about the Tequendama and decided to enjoy some lunch at their restaurant. This a clean antique hotel starting with the reception, restaurant, pool area, and outside play and family area. Service and view of the water were highlights from this hotel. The environment seems very safe and it is very close to the port area if you are in Buenavenura on business. I am sorry that I never got to stay in the rooms. This hotel represents a positive history of Buenaventura, a city that seems to have fallen in standards and safety to tourism. However, the function of the port is still alive and well with efforts to improve area around the port in work. I considered this hotel the historic attraction of Buenaventura. Happy Travels!!!!
834quentink (6/5): Business trip - I stayed here October 2014. It is a U.S. Embassy approved hotel, also an IGH awards partner. The hotel is located by the Colombian navy port so security is good. I recommend not traveling more than two blocks from hotel and be in by 7pm or sun down not much to do any ways. The rooms are decent but recommend utilizing the safe for valuables.
TripMember020920162 (4/5): Well past it´s prime - There is a miss conception with the management that lots of white paint makes for a good hotel. The building itself has seen better days with falling plasterwork on the third floor veranda that has a plant growing from where it fell, damp peeling paint in the rooms and a soulless quality somewhere between a mausoleum and a mental health institute. The rooms were sparsely furnished and although there was a desk the accompanying chair was about to give up and I was afraid to use it. I had a room at the front of the building and it was definitely noisier that those at the rear, especially when the news crew started their generator at 0500 in the morning on the street but that is not the fault of the hotel. The food was at best middling with a cazuela de mariscos (seafood soup) with the consistency of a packet corporate menu worthy of a large chain of fast food restaurants in the US. I had a supposed rump steak that when it eventually turned up looked like it had been through a mangle and it may well have done as it was as tough as old boots. All in all for the price and these are Bogotá or Cartagena prices it was a very poor showing on the food front. The service definitely deserves a mention but sadly not for the best. I know it was on the coast and the culture is a little different but at no point did anyone ever greet us during our four days let alone smile it was very bizarre. One would expect to be approached when sat in the lobby to see if a refreshment was in order. You will be waiting a long time. I am sure that during an evening meal there was a competition on between the slow and sullen waiting staff to see who could mumble the least words and engage in the most minimal verbal engagement. There was no apparent management of anything and no sense of team work amongst the staff it must be a dire place to work when there is no sense of pride. Other gripes were the lack of any real security presence as my door for example did not have a functioning door chain, there was no access control witnessed, there was no hot water on my last day either. The beds are pretty small for double beds and are certainly smaller than queen size although the bedding was clean and comfortable. On the plus side it has a swimming pool. I note the management respond to trip advisor posts and they have clearly implemented nothing to any effect. My recommendation is that you use the Torre Mar or the Mar Plaza or better yet the new Cosmos Pacific when it opens in the next few months. I am sure they will be keen to make an impression and the prices will be competitive certainly so when compared to the service rendered.
