Guest Reviews
- StevenO368 (10/5): Great! Can’t wait to return - Lovely hotel! Stayed here for about a week in January, 2026, and it exceeded expectations. I was surprised that it could be so near the nightlife but also quiet at night allowing you to get a good nights sleep. The hotel is clean, modern, beautiful and very safe. Very friendly staff and overall no complaints.
- Daniel (9/5): - Top Lage, nettes Personal, ausgezeichnetes Preis/Leistungsverhälniss nichts
- Philipp (8/5): -
- A (10/5): Just Fine - Great location, easy to walk to food bars beaches etc I thought the bar area could be more fun. Music more beds etc
- D Feige (10/5): -
- Daveuk2 (10/5): My Excellent Stay at the Agate Hotel - I rate the Agate Hotel very highly. It is located within the Jomtien Complex (now known as Supertown) which is a small area with a number of gay bars. However I was not disturbed by the inevitable noise at night, due to the hotel being situated at a sufficient distance away and also because of the quality of the building. The Jomtien beaches are within easy walking distance and Pattaya can be quickly reached by songthieu taxis passing a frequent intervals on the close main road.
The guest rooms are very comfortable and well equipped with a tv, tea/coffee facility, room safe and provided with a balcony. The Wi-Fi is strong and reliable.
There are two pools which are kept clean and tidy
I liked the breakfasts which tend towards healthy options and Thai food rather than typical British/American favourites.
All in all I had a great two weeks at the Agate and hope to stay there again during my next holiday in Thailand.
- helgitac (10/5): Perfect family holidays in the beautiful hotel - We are staying in Agate Boutique the second time in the Family room with pool view! The hotel is the best choice for everyone: families with children, alone travellers, friends and big companies of friends. First: very good location, second: perfect staffing, very helpful and polite, third: beautiful and very clean pools (one with sea water), near each pool restrooms very clean and comfortable, fourth: very good breakfasts: good variety of food, different types of meat, fish, vegetables, fruits, different everyday and some are for every day: rice, soup, cereales for children, eggs, omelet for order, sausages and ham, drinks, tea and coffee and cupcakes.
We chose the room with pool view on the second floor because of the beautiful view and silence inside the hotel, big balcony. I want to notice the great everyday room cleaning and very polite staff on reception! If I will return to Pattaya again the great chance that I will choose Agate Boutique in the third time!
- David (4/5): Disappointed - Location very good and facilities. Well the Aircon unit leak water all over my bedroom floor and into my suitcase and I had to send my new and clean clothes to be rewashed. These things happen. And it only cost me £10 to have them washed. On check out I was asked to pay for one beer I had at the pool it’s was only £1.80
Jokingly I said to them manager surely you can give me this for free for my room flooding and my clothes getting wet and em having to have the
All washed and dried. His attitude was disgraceful and very nasty and staid the leak happens and not prepared to give me anything. Also I was checking out of the hotel a day early o didn’t want any kind of refund it was my choice to leave. But to so absolutely no to a £1.80 beer was very very poor customer service and he did not give a F
I hope booking.com read these reviews because they need to consider what hotels they allow on there site.
- Arthur (10/5): - I like the beer
- Job (8/5): Very good - I did not use the pool nor the gym
But all in relation to the price was very much ok Breakfast was very much below expectations. But I hardly take breakfast
- drxl44 (10/5): Always worth considering .. - A well-managed hotel, well-maintained, with obliging staff in all departments.
A quiet location even though close to nightlife spots.
A good selection of food at breakfast.
Good value for room rates. Reserve direct for best rates every time!
- Mark (9/5): Superb - Always a nice hotel. The hotel is clean, with good facilities, good location, and excellent staff.
- brian (10/5): - the place was great and a nice quiet place to stay if you don't like the madness of pattaya
- Cecil (10/5): - The hotel is in great condition and all the staff was wonderful and very kind. I got excellent service from the housekeeping staff and the desk clerk Attasit helped me get utinsels when my grab food order came without them. I will be back!
- Howard (8/5): - Good location
- Robert (10/5): - The staff was wonderful and very accommodating, especially the bell boy who goes by “A”. You can’t pick a better location for proximity to dining and nightlife options. This was my second time here, and I will return.
- Robert (10/5): - Great team great staff clean organized and neat. Art was also spectacular.
- Freedom04045881765 (10/5): Best and friendliest boutique hotel in Jomtien - I love the Agate Boutique Hotel in Jomtien Complex you are always welcomed like family the staff are genuinely very caring and friendly. It has two beautiful tropical outdoor pools, very clean and well appointed rooms. The breakfast buffet changes everyday to different Thai food. The best part is all the fun and action of Jomtien Complex is right outside the front doors.
- Robert (10/5): - Courtyard/pool greenery
- H8514OFscotta (10/5): A memorable stay at the Agate Hotel - I have stayed at this hotel many times. Great rooms. Clean with friendly staff. A perfect place for a vacation. They have 2 beautiful pools and a giant waterfall. The Agate's front door drops you into the middle of Supertown Jomtien a short walk to the beach. I love this wonderful hotel
- Darren (10/5): - Great hotel stayed here a few times over the years
- David (8/5): Very good - Location
Friendly staff
Facilities Mould all over the shower and tiles.
I asked housekeeping to clean it and it was done immediately.
- M8197ORstevew (2/5): Beware this hotel! - At the price, this hotel is a rip off if you get one of its lesser rooms. ( the prices are no less!). The room I had was quite basic and the balcony unusable as it is squashed against the wall of the next building and aircon compressors are beside the balcony. Also because the wall is so close little natural lighting gets into the room and lights must remain on during the day. Given the price and that better rooms in this vicinity are available at 2/3 of the cost of the Agate, the standard is unacceptable.
- jacob (10/5): - The location and the friendly staff are hard to beat.
- imkit (6/5): - price is reasonable. facility is okay. small OK basic room. no micro-wave and no extra sink. location is OK. long walk to night market that we had to use Bolt going back to the hotel.
- Robert (8/5): Very good - Overpriced. The Zing hotel next door is just as nice and half the price.
- William (10/5): Exceptional -
- rolfu663 (10/5): The must place if you stay at Jomtien - Perfect Hotel with very nice rooms and baloney.
Guest's have the choice between to nice pools, one chlorine and one saltwater pool.
Polite and helpful staff will care about your needs a round the clock.
Good location, close to nightlife and the beach.
- dgcastillo80 (10/5): Nice, clean, and quiet. - The place is really nice and clean, and the staff are friendly. I got a room with a balcony facing the pool giving me a nice biew. The place is in the middle of a lot of establishments and just a couple of blocks away from the beach. It is also very quiet despite being surrounded by a lot of clubs/bars. The pool is lovely too. I will definitely book again when I come back.
- Siegfried (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (8/5): - The staff was wonderful especially the boy at the front door during daytime. Restrooms could use a few more amenities like facial tissues and towels. Other than that, I highly recommend this property.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very quiet, comfortable. Great location. Close to beach. Friendly staff.
- Chris (8/5): - Stayed for 4 nights as a couple was very comfortable. 2 pools. The only negative is they could provide 2 pillows per person and there is only enough tea and coffee provided for 1 cup. Apart from that close to the beach.
- Colin (9/5): Excellent. - Location near to places that I enjoy (shops, beach, entertainment ). Staff helpful. I like the fossils and mineral display. The wi-fi could be better, had to log in many times rather than stay logged in.
- Richard (10/5): - Enjoyed my stay. Great staff.
- Siegfried (10/5): overall a nice stay with a good service - the room was spacious
the main pool on the ground floor was fascinating
the private car parking space inside the building on the ground floor the breakfast was acceptable, but a bit too much plastic packaging
- Paul (8/5): Few issues but still good. - I’ve stayed at the Agate before and knew it had the levels of comfort and service i was looking for, also in a nice location a short walk from the beach. On this occasion there were a few maintenance issues that slightly spoiled things - Day 2 there was a power cut affecting my floor only for 4 hours. Day 3 the single lift was out of order half the day. However I’d still stay again if in the same area.
- Nithin (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (6/5): Pleasant - Good location - Room was reasonable No room service and room could have been cleaner
- Dermot (9/5): Far exceeded expectations in all aspects. - Room was clean and well presented. The Staff were helpful and very prompt with room make up. Overall facilities were well beyond expectations. Location close to good eating and beaches. Cant think of anything that could be realistically improved.
- Al (4/5): Disappointing -
- Steven (10/5): The Best Boutique Hotel - Clean and Quiet - fantastic Location by the beach - The most fantastic Hotel in Pattaya by the beach. Clean and quiet Hotel in the best location. Staff are the very best and made me feel so comfortable. Lovely Buffet Breakfast and 2 minutes from a 24 hours 7/11 store. Large Television with TV channels from England and from around the world. Beautiful swimming pool with water jets and I really enjoyed my stay. The price so cheap compared to Hotels of this quality. When I return to Pattaya this is my favourite Hotel in all of Pattaya. The Staff are just lovely Everything was fantastic
- Jean-michel (10/5): Exceptional - Great place, super nice staff
- Christoph (8/5): Good accomodation - Nicely decorated, well maintained hotel. Felt comfortable. Location is right next to night life, Restaurants and beach. Not much to complain 🙂
- Darren (9/5): Superb -
- Ian (9/5): Superb -
- BERNARD (10/5): - Smallish rooms but clean and calm sound of water from the fountain. Was very quiet as low season so not sure how typical. Seems to be the best hotel in the vicinity
- Verified traveler (10/5): Definitely recommended - I had a lovely top floor room looking over the pool. The cute balcony was nice to sit on. The bed was comfortable and bathroom clean. It was excellent value for money.
- scott (4/5): - Weird area small room not much privacy
- Orraphan (8/5): Very good -
- Clyde (10/5): - We'll maintained hotel with friendly staffing.
- Diggertate (5/5): Passable - had to pay TB100 for 2 extra pillows
no plug adaptors in the hotel
- Greg (10/5): 1st choice - As always . Helpful happy smiling staff. Clean comfortable room and great location.
- David (9/5): excellent hotel - location
- John (2/5): I would probably consider staying at this hotel again if it were not for the air conditioner and pillow issues. - The interior is surprisingly serene, surprisingly because the surrounding neighborhood is loud and filthy. The safe did not work upon checkin. The sink drained very slowly, leaving a thick gray residue every time I washed my hands. The toilet did not flush upon checkin. Once it was fixed, the bowl would fill with some kind of black filth after every flush. The hotel offers no wash cloths. No problem, I brought my own body-washing gloves, but while searching for someplace clean to hang them, like over a glass wall, my fingers would pick up a thick coat of chalky white residue. Yuck! I was allowed to move to a less compromised room. But I just couldn’t sleep at night. There was no way to control the air conditioner fan, only the temperature. 26 degrees was too cold but 27 degrees left the room hot and humid. The hard pillows also made it difficult to sleep.
- Tony (8/5): Beautiful set-up close to everything! - The hotel location is fantastic! Minutes from great food, nightlife, and the beach. Hard to ask for much more than that from a hotel property. The pools are both very nice, located in the middle of the hotel so pretty quiet and undisturbed from passing traffic or other patrons. The size of the property is deceptively big, so entering doesn't feel like you're staying at a massive hotel. The hotel provides some bicycles that you can check out to get around the local area, a feature I found to be particularly nice. While the hotel presents as a boutique, it really is a larger hotel, so moving from the entrance to your room can be a good hike through several corridors. This isn't inherently a bad thing, but something to note that may not be as well understood from the booking process or photos.
- PAUL (10/5): - Close to all the amenities and the beach and shops.
- Rick (8/5): - Great customer service
- Darren (10/5): - Nice and quiet
Friendly staff
- Steven (8/5): - Comfortable hotel amongst all the bars and restaurants in Jomtien, a little tricky to find depending on your taxi driver.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - Very close to the beach. Sparkling new and beautifully decorated with rare gemstone.
The pool is stunning with a spectacular waterfall.
One detail that I had not seen in the reviews is that it is located in a (Boys Town) street. It's very small and doesn't kill the great value. It should however be noted that you will be solicited for a massage from an agressive young man.
I will stay here again because it is such a nice quiet hotel.
- Teck (9/5): execellent - well accomodation , nice enviroment, value for money
- Bruce (7/5): Good -
- Mohammad (7/5): Good -
- Steven (10/5): The Best in Pattaya - The location is just fantastic with just a 4 minutes walk to the beach. Restaurants and Bars right outside the door, yet so quiet there is no noise. Beautiful and clean very large Room and powerful shower. Fantastic swimming pool with water jets and the room was so clean and daily room service and thick towels. Lovely Balcony overlooking the swimming pool and blackout curtains so you can sleep during the day after a late night out. This hotel has everything with the nicest and most helpful Staff. I booked for 2 nights and stayed for 7 weeks. A big thank you to all the day and night staff. Fantastic security and the best air conditioning. Room Rates were just excellent. You will not find better quality for this price in Pattaya right at the beach and a 7/11 supermarket just 2 minutes away. Also great for a fast microwave meal 24 hours a day. This hotel is simply the best! It was just fantastic... I loved every day... I was treated so well
- Violet (7/5): Good - It was fine for what it was
- Nelson (10/5): Exceptional -
- Guy (9/5): My 8th time at Hotel Agate and again I loved it. - The staff are ready and waiting to look after any request.
The facilities and pools are kept exceptionally clean and are very comfortable. I missed not having breakfast by the pool, the dinning room, and the pool side bar.
- Anonymous (8/5): Nice stay - Staff was very helpful facilities like spa and bar are closed
- Kerry (10/5): give it a try and enjoy the fun. - This is a very nice hotel close to the beach and surrounded by restaurants and entertainment.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A really good value hotel in Jomtien. Centrally located and just a baht bus from downtown Pattaya. The hotel rooms are adequate - clean and spacious. The breakfast is a bit basic, but the staff are generally friendly apart from the breakfast staff who seemed a bit indifferent each day - could do better. Check out soi 5 and 7 if you don’t want to head into Pattaya. Other than that a good value hotel overall.
- Clyde (10/5): A Jewel - I have stayed here several times in the past and it is still a treat to stay here. The staff is warm and welcoming and you are treated like an honored guest. The rooms are comfortable and well maintained.
- Luis (8/5): Nice hotel - hotel is nice. clean rooms full service hotel very close to all the gay bars.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The servers at breakfast were not interested in helping us. The reception staff were nice but ineffective. We had strange damp musty smell in room but no attention was paid to it, the fridge broke down and was never repaired. We asked for bananas at breakfast and the big ladyboy just said we no have so stop asking. The servers stood all morning watching thai television and the tables were filthy all dirty marks. The lift was broken for a full day we were there but no one came or called the room to say , you would expect to be told on higher floors in case you had some mobility or health problems.. the only bonus was the reception staff and one bellboy who was so helpful. The breakfast servers did not tell us we could order omelette or special eggs etc we found out on day we left. The service in food is atrocious, they virtually throw you out and switch ban Marie’s off at 10.30am despite them having stood around doing nothing for the full serving time. The hotel rooms are getting dated and smelly with stuff breaking with no proper engineering to help repair .
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Did not like hotel - not the quality of a 4* hotel
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good value for money. Location with easy access to Jomtien Complex gay area and just 5 minutes walking distance to Dong Tan beach.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Looks like an oasis. Salt and fresh water pools, a first for me. Close to the beach and nice eating places in the neighbourhood.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Xxxx xxxx xxxx xxx xxxxx xxxxxx xxxx xxxx xx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
- Clyde (10/5): A Quality Location - Great friendly and helpful staff throughout. The hotel is well designed and comfortable.
If your desire is to be in Jomtien, this a perfect low key and quiet location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property is a pleasant boutique hotel. What I did not like is that it was almost impossible to get directions from anyone. I wanted to go to a particular place which was accessible by bus but everyone said....take a taxi. Another point I did not like is that there was no international English language news channel of any sort.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Veey nice boutique hotel, nice ataff.
I will return .
- Stephen (10/5): - Beautiful newer hotel in a great location. Excellent breakfast buffet. Very friendly hotel staff. Only drawback was no outside phone calls allowed ? Also english speaking front desk people would help.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Excellent value for money hotel with great staff located in the Jomtien Complex close to the beach and right in the middle of the gay area. The rooms have everything you need, were quiet and there are 2 pools to relax.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Charming hotel,
Unfortunately the air conditioning system was too noisy and there were no screens on the sliding glass doors so they could not be left open at night, Both of these made it difficult to sleep comfortably at night.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice room ( had the double king).
Loved the pool.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good hotel - The best hotel in the area. Clean, good service. But some coins disappeared from my room table two days in a row, after cleaning.
- Matthew (10/5): Fantastic hotel with helpful friendly staff - Fantastic hotel with helpful friendly staff. Great location short walk to beach, around the corner from bars but quiet. Very clean and modern - I'll be back!!
- Gary (10/5): Convenient - The Hotel is close to all good restaurants bars shops transport and beach
- Xiaoxi (10/5): High quality at a low price - Amazing staff, clean and modern rooms, 2 minutes walk to Jomtien beach, and the pickup truck bus stops right behind the hotel for Pattaya downtown. Breakfeast was mainly western menu; would like to see more thai dishes for breakfeast.
- Frank (10/5): Great hotel close to Jomtien beach - Nice hotel, close to the beach.
Very friendly staf
Two pools (Fresh and Salty water)
Walking distance to the sea
- Philip (8/5): Nice hotel close to beach and bars - Over 3 trips, I have now stayed about 60 nights in this hotel. July is quiet season here so most days I had the smaller pool to myself. Wifi very good. Don't bother with the TV unless you can understand Thai. Room very clean. Despite keeping the balcony door closed most of the time, one cockroach managed to fly in. Found and killed in the bathroom..
Ate in same 2 restaurants. Pirate Bay on Dongtan beach for an american breakfast, about £3 and Dick's cafe for lunch / dinner. There is a nightly cabaret show at The Venue across.the road There are plenty of girl / boy bars around. I went to the Sun Bar. The owner is Sun. So you have to expect to see visitors with Asian men / women, but you can just politely say no.
Generally I find prices in Thailand about the same as in the UK. But they seem to have freedom of movement, so lots of people working here are from Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. The skilled Thais work in Singapore etc. So something involving labour is cheap. 6 shirts laundered for £2. A haircut the same.
- William (2/5): Overpriced, cockroaches - Cockroaches in room, management notified but no reply,
Small room,overpriced
- Bill (8/5): Great location close to eating places and beach - Poor choices of English speaking news and movie Chanel’s for those stay at home recovery times over all great stay
- Incee (10/5): - Stayed 3 nights on 12 day road trip. Hotel is in a quiet location on border of Jomtien and Pattaya, near some very good restaurants and beach. Beautiful , new interior. Two lovely pools. Good breakfast. Very comfortable beds. My only constructive criticism would be: (1) train your receptionists to be more personable and helpful; (2) get rid of moddy at bar. He is not professional and who wants to hear him plar Rap music at breakfzst?
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Compared to Price, hotel is of very low quality. Booked based on expedia rating and very disappointed
- ben (10/5): Nice hotel. - It’s really good for me. It is not too far and not too close to the beach. It’s quite place. Nice bed and pilow.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Make sure the bed is clean, there was a big dirty stain in ours.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Punches way above its Rate! - This is a very well run hotel with very well trained staff. Spotlessly clean and real effort has gone into creating a mini oasis in a fairly busy area of Jomtien. I loved the pool settings and wish I had had more time to enjoy them... I mean how often is there a waterfall you can walk behind through a secret passage!!?. When the Bellboy came half-way up the street to help me with my bag after spotting me walking down towards the hotel from at least 30 metres away; to all 3 staff at the Front Desk standing up to greet me, I realised I had entered a hotel beyond the norm. My room was spotlessly clean. My bed was comfortable. My bathroom was comparatively large and nicely fitted out with a rain shower and seating ledge and I was only in a basic room. I have stayed in some other hotels in this particular area and they have been fine but now I know that I won't be going back to them anymore...Agate is Great!
