Guest Reviews
- Smiley216 (10/5): Amazing stay - This is my motel of choice when I’m in the area. Rooms are clean and spacious and the owners and staff are amazing. They always exceed my expectations. Great location. Close to Costco and many restaurants. It’s my home away from home. I had an issue with the tv and it was resolved immediately.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Receptionist is very disrespectful and not co operative
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The staff is very nice.
There is no exhaust fan in the bathroom, there is a lot of moisture in the room and you can see that they are having problems with mold, the screen door had a window missing
- ttravellercadd (2/5): Not Recommended! - I experienced noise issues and had to leave half way through the night!
The office could be reached until the next day, and refused to accept responsibility. Apparently this motel rents rooms to people to stay there for several weeks and they admit people only stay for a hour sometimes. That's the type of people you're dealing with. Pick an airbnb - it's cheaper and likely a much higher quality stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nothing fancy but clean and check in staff.nice. No coffee but lots of places close. Good valie.
- SunnySunflowers26 (10/5): Pleasantly Surprised - I recently stayed here with my Mom after we had to unexpectedly evacuate our apartment for a couple of nights. Unfortunately most of the cheaper places in our neighbourhood have very bad reputations. Decided to give the Embassy a try and was pleasantly suprised! It was clean, quiet and the staff were friendly. Lots of TV channels, free WiFi, fridge and microwave. And more importantly I never felt unsafe staying here. There are lots of places to eat nearby, a movie theatre and a Shell gas station. The only down side was the pillows and bed could have been more comfortable but overall this motel is excellent for the price.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff was very friendly. The room was small but clean and had everything we needed.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This motel was amazing! It had everything i needed and the staff was just amazing, for a motel everything was super clean and accessible! For the awesome cheap price per night screw a hampton inn! Embassy was the best!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A later check out time would be nice but over all I like the privacy of the rooms.
- Catherine (8/5): We’re happy with suite - Stay was comfortable, was not what we expected for a motel. Very clean no smell and Quiet. One suggestion add grab bars to the bathtub for climbing in and and in the trub.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was okay, clean and warm. Staff was friendly. it was fine.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - enjoyed our stay. We will definitely go back! The check in was fast and easy, rooms were clean;
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Could use a hair dryer. Newly renovated; nice and clean.
- Verified traveler (6/5): No frills heaven. - This is an outdated motel, but the room was clean, the heat worked and so did the tv. If you are looking for a no frills evening out, you have hit the jackpot.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nothing fancy but better review rating than most of the other motels in the area. My particular room was missing the smoke alarm (this is a no no) and half the buttons on the TV remote didn't work so couldn't really switch channels. Other than that the room wasn't very big but served it's purpose and was clean. Sheets were clean too.
- Bebe (8/5): - Clean units and good toilet paper for a change! Good location. Close to restaurants and movies. The only down side is noisy neighbours.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - extremely clean room and facility looked newly renovated
- Natasha (8/5): - Was just what we needed, a place to lay our heads for the night. Found it clean, room itself a little dated, but bathroom was very nice. Had everything we needed except a hairdryer which i forgot to bring thinking that they would have had one. But overall great price for a one night stay ☺
- Rhichard (8/5): - The owners were very pleasant, nice people.
The room was clean, updated and comfortable and I enjoyed my stay there. It would be a place for me to return to when I need a room in the Kitchener area again.
- Tom (8/5): - Great place to stay - clean and and comfortable. Great staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A clean basic room with pleasant staff plenty of parking
- Brenda (8/5): - Nice, clean and pleasant staff. Convenient location
- Jeff (8/5): - All and all a place to sleep and not worry. I think the lady next door had a better time :) I would recommend it for a sleep. Comfortable beds clean enough for a stay over. I would stay again.
- Michelle (8/5): First time and would return - It was exactly as described and expected. It was relatively clean, it was a place to sleep, watch some tv and had a fridge and microwave. Tons of places to visit and eat across the street and off the main street so it was easy to get in and out of. Check in was extremely simple as was check out.
- Gregg (10/5): - The rooms are really fixed up nice. Bathrooms all up-to-date tile with shiny clean grout. Showers blow your hair back. Good cold fridge with a freezer...A/C was wall unit...a little loud, so i had to turn it off to sleep. No problem! i'm coming back frequently, whenever I have to stay around Kitchener/Waterloo
- William (8/5): Decent and cheap. - Just a simple motel, so nothing extraordinary. Just good old standard for a night's sleep. And bonus...right across the street from a movie theatre.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Still a great place, but ! - Overall, a very well kept property, and room, however, I have noticed since my last stay at this establishment, that there appears to be a number of "full time" guests.
A couple of late night issues due to this, fighting, yelling, and a lot of foot traffic between rooms.
I was not put out by this, but , felt that this is now a residence more than a motel.
- Suzan (6/5): a place to lay our heads - We just needed a place to sleep. We arrived after 8 PM and left before 7 AM. We slept soundly without disturbances in a comfortable room with a comfortable bed. Everything was clean. The towels weren't luxuriously thick but the shower was hot.
- Jenn (8/5): - This motel is conveniently located. The rooms are clean, while the bed linens and carpet are dated, they are clean and pillows are new. The bathroom was recently renovated and looks spectacular. Rooms have a microwave and a small fridge! No coffee makers, but Tim Horton's is right up the street. No complaints for the price. It's a comfortable, reasonably priced motel that is dog friendly :)
- Verified traveler (6/5): Clean and quoet - Bathroom is newly reno. Nice job. Not expensive motel. It’s ok
- William (6/5): Decent value. - Decent value for overnight stay. Room has good amenities - fridge, microwave, flat screen TV, upgraded bath. Small, clean room and not particular quiet. Friendly owners. Convenient to highways.
- DandWIOntario (2/5): Untrustworth people!!! - I do not have anything nice to say about this place although I have stayed there before I booked a room long before the Sat. night we were to stay... we drove over 100 K in an ice storm and when we arrived.... He told me that we did not book!!! Complete lie, I booked with him wife, who took all my info down plus credit card #, and she hid behind the corner.... he just kept saying he had no booking!!!!! So they gave your room away. I would never trust these people again and now I must watch my credit card statement to make sure they don't put it through....
- Verified traveler (8/5): Would book again. - Good Stuff: Check in was easy. Staff were friendly. Room was clean and tidy. Bed was good but on the firm side.
Okay Stuff: Pillows, Price was right.
Not Good: The location is close to a main road, so some noise, but that isn't the fault of the motel. The room was cold and breezy (during an ice storm). The heat was on, but the rooms have window/wall AC units and in mine there was definitely some cold air getting in. Could be fixed with better sealing. Nothing major.
Summary: I've stayed in places I wouldn't stay again, this isn't one of them. For the price, it was a good stay and I'd book again if I needed to stay near the area.
- John (6/5): - poor advertising as to location. NO telephone service other than local calls. I would not rec. unless u want a cheap plac
- SteveB15 (6/5): Nice, budget motel - Overall, we were quite pleased with our stay at the Embassy Motel.
The washroom in our room was nicely updated and included a very nice soaker tub.
Another nice touch was the inclusion of a full fridge, along with a microwave.
Nothing special, but clean and a good choice for the budget conscious. We would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Decent place to stay for cheap. Would reccomend for anyone just looking to stay the night somewhere
- T (10/5): Best Affordable Motel - Very good and clean rooms, bathroom was was well kept, very good and friendly office staff. Nice and cheap rooms.Highly recommended if taking a break from driving. Also proximity to bus stop makes it excellent stop for a day.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Cold and smelly room! - Baseboard heating was off when it was freezing outside, I had to wait an hour or two before I could take off my jacket! Also some sort of wired smell (not sure whether it was a mold, dirty carpet or an old wood smell) Anyways decided to leave after few hours to find another motel.
- Martin (2/5): No thermostats and slippy bathtubs - Room appearance and cleanliness were just fine. A room with no thermostat and no instructions on how best to set the baseboard heaters with no labeling on them and the air conditioner/fan only in F in Canada. The bathrooms have no handles, grab bars, or anti slip mats. I slipped in the plastic bathtub and lucky I didn't fall.
My room temperature would vary wildly by 10F or more, because of my health and exertion travelling that was enough to send my body crashing. My handy sportswatch was kind enough to tell me later on my body had been under more stress in that room than I had experienced driving the 401 in snowy conditions for 4 hrs.
I would not stay here again.
- T (10/5): Great hotel for a quick break - Its a nice motel, very clean and tidy, beds were cosy.Every thing was up to the mark what you would except at this price point.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice place to sleep. Sleeping in daytime in any place is hard put me near back of hotel so it was quieter. Overall good place to stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Close to everything - Friendly staff. Clean and quiet. Reasonable price.
- Deanna (10/5): Comfortable - Nice and clean room, enough room to park 2 cars in front of room. Good wifi, microwave in rooom. Staff very helpful and we were very happy
- David (8/5): * - The motel was nice and clean. The beds were changed daily. I was there for the Oktoberfest, so it's location worked out well for me.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Basic, cheap and clean enough - Stayed here when we were in town for a wedding and everything else was sold out. It was fine for a night of sleep. Basic motel with a decent price, not immaculate but clean enough. Would I stay here for more than a night? Probably not...but it's very decent for a motel.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Fight going on in other room that went on for hours ...screaming yelling
- Suzanne (8/5): - clean, comfortable, affordable,enjoyable
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Simple, clean, comfortable room. I would have no hesitation to recommend this place to a friend or stay there again myself.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Chocolate Surprise - There was an open chocolate bar in one of the bedside drawers. Not a wrapped chocolate bar; it was an old, lonely, naked Twix hiding in the drawer along with the phonebooks. Also, in a nearby room, a dog was moaning dreadfully for hours. For the longest time I thought the moaning was actually coming from an old person sobbing, which is why I didn't complain about it. Ongoing sobs of despair didn't seem too strange in a hotel like this.
But I don't expect much. I commute long ways to Kitchener sometimes, and sometimes I'm too tired to drive home. So I've stayed here a few times because of convenience, and I probably will again. It's a cheap place to just crash; the room is generally clean (the Twix notwithstanding) and the staff are polite. It's not a terrible place, but I wouldn't recommend it for a vacation or a nice night out.
- D G (10/5): No frills - Traveling alone, stayed two nights for business in the area.
- LauraD512 (6/5): Cheap - Overall much better than the other cheap motels in Kitchener ... Have smoking rooms but walls are thin fridge and great tv channels very close to movie theatre and fast food or restaurants shopping right there too
- Dillon (10/5): Perfect for the Price - Gorgeous for the cost
- Joyce (8/5): Nice little room - We like the Embassy Motel. This was our second stay and both times the room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The only thing we miss and would like to see added is a coffee maker. The room has fridge and microwave so that is great.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Never go here !!! - Bugs in the room. The management never cleans the rooms. Dirty sheets. Rude service.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Found food left in the fridge and a box of condoms left in a drawer. Would not stay here again
- Verified traveler (10/5): - unfortunately it was raining and freezing when I got there and the parking lot and sidewalk outside the door was slippery but that was too be expected, i wouldn't have minded having salt or salted sand in the room to put down for my own personal safety.
- jordanbE213NB (10/5): Pleasantly Surprised (and I'm picky) - My girlfriend and I were in town for her friend's birthday and we were looking for an inexpensive place to spend the night as she did not want to stay at her friend's place. She left me to choose the hotel and was initially put off when she saw my choice. Really, is it even possible to get a decent place for $80?
We checked in and the owner was extremely friendly. Our room (number 19, right on the end) was extremely clean and cool with the air conditioner. We took our shoes off and the carpet felt cleaner than the carpet in dozens of upper-class hotels I've stayed in previously. Although our room was the closest one to the roadway, there was no unbearable noise (and with the windows closed there was hardly any noise whatsoever). The bathroom was bright and clean and the room was spacious, with a nicely-sized TV and good quality air conditioning.
We got back to the room at around 11pm and the parking lot was extremely well-lit and nothing felt unsafe. Our room was quiet and our sleep was outstanding. The morning came quick enough and we handed our keys to the extremely friendly housekeeping lady as we left.
I have zero complaints to say about this place. Really, I would pay $100 for this room but I don't want the price to go up from what it is because it's so convenient. I would say that there's enough parking for at least two cars/room and I'm sure you could request to have a room near the back of the building if you wanted a bit more quiet (and to utilize the green space and nice gardens).
I've found our new go-to place when we need somewhere to stay in Waterloo (as we're both alum from nearby universities) and I also got to say 'I told you so' because I made a great room choice.
- caulfield1044 (6/5): Friendly staff nice location - Has pretty good location.(close to Landmark cinemas ,Indigo and Starbucks)Too much noise from the refrigerator but amenities are enough for me.I definitely won't stay if I travel with my family.Staff was friendly
- smallgal37 (2/5): Motel stay bad service - The customer service was horrible staked there a bunch of times and she still charged us for late check out, after couple times had issues with prostitutes in and outta rooms when we made a noise complaint we were informed that they only had room for couple hours. The bath mats were ripped and the towels were stained and the room was not throughly cleaned condoms left in rooms and lots of dirt in various places, the handle broke on door when we reported they said they would look at it later and never did
- 863robinm (6/5): Clean and friendly - If you are looking for cheap clean and old school this is the place for you newer bathrooms and a comfortable bed the place is clean but the bump in the road is the chairs that are grubby and the carpet that has seen better days !!
- Babyboosgirl (10/5): Friendly small motel - Small motel in Kitchener. The staff/owners were extremely friendly and helpful. They were always working to make the place clean and look nice. They went out of their way to make sure I had what I needed. I went for work, but it is a place I would come back to again. Small but definitely comfortable and good value. It doesn't have all the amenities of a large chain hotel, but it is a great place to stay and for a great price. It was a very pleasant surprise for me. Would recommend it!
- Taadow7 (4/5): Great motel sign......and that's about all - My wife & I stayed here one night during our 8 day road trip across Ontario.
While the room was clean, the lighting was horrible and the room rate was much too high for a tiny room with no amenities and A/C that barely worked.
The owners were nice though.
- 667valeriec (2/5): Disgusting! - Don't be fooled by the picture of the bathroom...the only nice thing about the room! The pillows were flat and when I took off the pillowcase the pillow was stained on both sides with who knows what! It doesn't take much to wash pillows! The towels were thread bare. No amenities other than plastic glasses. We will never go back!! All in all we couldn't wait to leave!
- Dgmrneves (8/5): Why isn't this place full all the time? - ..old school Retro style motel, with all the necessary updates and amenities.
The Embassy Motel just across Sportsworld in Kitchener, is our new favourite. We have a small dog who is welcome, lots of open parking and lawn.
Half the price (about $70), of most hotels in Kitchener.
Room has nice bar fridge and microwave. Good, quiet heat control in room, and believe it or not, Windows that open :)
New Mothers Pizza, and Mandarin just up the road, near 401 exit nearby.
Like I said, why isn't this place full all the time
- 106GaryH (8/5): Great bang for your buck. - We stayed here for one night and found this place to be extremely clean. It is just a room with not a lot of fringes. For the price we will stay here again. The staff were very helpful and could not do enough for us.
- keswickdoodle (2/5): Terrible - Stayed one night. One night too many! The bathrooms look nice but don't be fooled. The bed was awful. 8" piece of foam on top of a 2" piece of foam. No night lamp, shampoo, hair dryer, tissue, clock, pancake pillows and ancient A/C. Save your $65 and stay somewhere else.
- LynnC112 (8/5): Very happy - My husband and I stayed at this motel for ten days this past November (2012). Of course it’s not a five star but we weren’t paying for a five star. I gave it four stars because we were very happy with the service and the owners were extremely nice and accommodating. All we needed was somewhere to sleep and relax, as we were in Cambridge for an emergency in the family. The bed was fine and the room was warm and cleaned every day. We got exactly what we paid for. We would definitely go there again...
- schken (2/5): This place is a Dump - I travel all around Canada and the United States, this place is a total dump. The rooms look's like it's from the sixty's.This place was so bad i did not shower in morning(need i say anymore).I did learn one thing check the room before check in??.I was working in the area and it was late at nite, all the other motel's in the area were full so i had to stay.I told the owner that his place is a dump,he did not say much im sure he was told this before.
