- Pulju (9/5): Excellent value-for-money for no-frills traveler visiting Shrewsbury, - Good, basic pub accommodation convenient to center of town. Everything worked; friendly staff; basically self-service after check-in. Street parking, but I knew that in advance. No shower in my room--just a bath.
- Francis (9/5): All good - Everything good
- Jonathan (7/5): -
- Kimberley (10/5): Excellent - Excellent location located inside a lovely pub. Super friendly service upon arrival that I couldn’t fault. Room was super clean tidy and safe. Bed was comfortable and bathroom was clean. Lovely skylight for fresh air. Tv in room was great. Couldn’t fault it. About five or ten mins on the bus into the town centre or twenty mins walking. There was a great supermarket located close by. Nothing I had a great stay

- Brooks (8/5): - Friendly staff, good food, quiet room
- Robin James (7/5): A great bet, but for the internet. - Lovely staff, liked the location, sweet, quiet room with a bath. Internet, alas, so slow as to be almost unusable - a problem as I needed to work online.
- Kevin (8/5): Recommended - Clean and tidy room at an affordable rate.

- John (10/5): - Everything was spot on very clean and very comfortable bed very good shower and plenty of hot water. There wasn't anything I didn't like.
- John (8/5): -
- Richard (1/5): Avoid!! - Nothing No change of dates despite reasonable request
- Oleg Morcov (4/5): - The restaurant atmosphere, staff, food & location The bed base was broken (I left a note for the host)
- Les1959 (4/5): Unhappy stay - Nothing Bed very uncomfortable, very little sleep. Towels very old, fraying. Not best view from window( rubbish bins). People walking in out bin area. Shower dirty, dripping. No mirror for wife to apply makeup. Only plus was room quiet.
- Carolyn (9/5): -
- Reeves (1/5): Small unclean and neglected - Nothing The room was small, the bottom side of the shower tray was held together with gaffa tape, the basin plug was detached from the chain, plug hole dirty. Drain on the shower was dirty. The air vent was full of dirt, behind the Tv on the wall was like land fill. Places mentioned had not been cleaned for a long time. The pillows were like putting your head on a deflated balloon. No wardrobe just a rail on the wall with 1 plastic coat hanger. The bedding had seen better days. Small dents and scratches on the walls had been left for a long time.
- jason (10/5): - The staff were fantastic at the old bell, I arrived well past the check in time, the staff were happy to accommodate me, even at 0050 am 👍,
The hotel is a 10 walk from the town centre, the walk takes you over the river and past a few handy shops
- Dave (7/5): - Very friendly and not expensive.
Coffee and bathroom sachets very generous.
I stayed in room 3 with shower en suite. Very clean. Room is simple and functional. One bedside 'touch' lamp seemed to not work. The other's shade had dropped off it's mounting. Neither posed a hazard. Insulation from room above not brilliant as footsteps clearly noticeable around midnight, possibly another guest who had enjoyed their evening. The mattress is ok but definitely not 'Hippo' comparable.
This review sounds negative but I will happily return when back in Shrewsbury. For a single person it's basic but meets my needs. My wife would definitely want a better mattress. The room however does also have an extra single bed for a family. It's spacious, good value and parking shouldn't be a problem.
It also serves food until 8. Dislike is the wrong word but would prefer better mattress and floor insulation unless there really was an elephant staying on upper floor. My room had no chair but the single bed was available.
The Old Bell is very welcoming and wants your stay to be as enjoyable as possible. That is very important when planning any stay. Thank you
- Gordon (10/5): - Great room in a great pub in a great location!!! Nothing is
- Gillian (8/5): - Good location lovely food Very noisy other people banging on the door outside during the night to get in

- Arnopp (8/5): A pleasant stay at a good value establishment - The Old Bell is outside the centre of Shrewsbury on a major road. However, I did not find noise a problem. The setting is attractive, and there are a number of other pubs nearby (there is a CAMRA recommended pub crawl covering the area) and cafes and restaurants in the vicinity of Shrewsbury Abbey. My single room was clean and well-appointed, with all the facilities one would expect. I had two meals in the pub downstairs, which were reasonably priced pub fare. The staff were friendly and helpful. The price of £89.00 for two nights' accommodation was very reasonable by local standards. My room was perhaps a little cramped and lacked storage space. Though tea- and coffee-making facilities were provided, the kettle set off the fire alarm in my room at 6:30 am on my first morning! Fortunately, there did not seem to be any other guests. Breakfasts are not provided, so I went into town both days I was there.
- Martin (8/5): - We felt very welcome. The staff were so friendly and helpful! The room was really comfortable, warm and clean. The shower was very good!
- Ceris (10/5): I look forward to my stays there. - The Staff the rooms and the location .
- Chris (2/5): Not good value for money. - Not a lot The wall heater did not work. I was cold. The light came on at the switch for a heated towel rail but there was no heated appliance. The skylight over the bed made a loud drumming noise over my head when it rained. The television is in an impractical position for comfortable viewing. No shower curtain. No cupboard - indeed no space to install one - in which to hang clothes. At over £50 for an uncomfortable night this was far too expensive.
- Roy (7/5): - Location and Staff who worked at tge bar. Shower tray suround was taped up with black tape. Opened water bottle left for use. No nowing how long it had been there. No hand towels.
- Frank (7/5): Single room No 1 - Staff and restaurant excellent, single room needs attention, mattress poor, needs replacing, could feel the springs, extraction fan in bathroom was like being next to a jet engine, everything else fine
- Alan (10/5): Perfect - Excellent staff warm and welcoming N/A
- Alan (5/5): Got what I paid for,a room, bed bathroom. - Very freindly lady who checked me in, bathroom was a good size.
Tea making facilities. The mattress needs to be replaced!
As soon as you sat on it or laid down, you fell into the saggy part of the middle, no support or firmness at all.Would of liked a bit more space in the room,it was a bit cramped if you spent more than a few hours there.
- Christopher (1/5): See above. - No one paid attention...
... when I responded to the reservation-confirmation email, advising you/them/whomever that an incorrect email addresses was entered for the reservation. So now you're asking someone who did not use the service to rate the service. I can only guess the service was clumsy, inattentive, and entirely unaware.

- Christine (8/5): -
- Derek (8/5): Very good highly recommend A******** - Room small but cosy and bathroom very good. Excellent tea and coffee making facilities. Just creaky floor when walking about
- Tricia (5/5): -
- ANDREW (8/5): -
- Fiona (8/5): comfortable and convenient - good location, staff very friendly and helpful would have been nice to have breakfast there but they don't do breakfasts, barman did recommend an excellent place for breakfast nearby though
- Robert (8/5): - Great room, all I needed for 1 nights accommodation. Plenty of tea and coffee. Had a beer instead.
- Paul (4/5): Disappointed - The bed was shocking and the floor very creaky The bed and the floor
- Trefor (8/5): Perfectly ok for a single night’s stay in a location convenient for me. - Nice room though small but very clean and well-equipped.
Hotel did not offer breakfast which was a pity.
But room good value at the price paid. No breakfast offered.
- Lou (5/5): -
- harris (9/5): Have stayed there a few times now and never had any complaints 👍 -
- Yvonne (7/5): - Convenience
- Deena (6/5): Good value for price overall - The room was very spacious and much bigger than anticipated. Staff was friendly and the meal we had at the pub was also tasty. The only downside was the bathroom - the shade over the window is very visibly grungy and needs replaced with something fresh and clean.
- Yvonne (7/5): - Ease of use
- David (8/5): -
- Mark (8/5): -
- denise (10/5): -
- Feldt (8/5): enjoyable for 2 nights. - cleanliness and terrestrial TV NA
- david (9/5): -
- Rambling Ray (5/5): nice stay apart from the strange late night visitor, who wasn't Santa. - friendly staff, lovely old pub building, great location. Ground floor room. we were rather shocked to have a random man unlock our room door and enter our room in the middle of the night. Don't know how he had a key that could unlock our door. He was confused and after a minute or two of us trying to convince him that it wasn't his room, he left and relocked the door as he went. Could have been so much worse, luckily he was not looking to cause trouble. looking through the reviews, this is not an isolated occurance with room 2. I also noted the toilet wasn't very clean when we arrived and the coffee cups smelled bad. shame as otherwise excellent value for money.

- male (8/5): - Restaurant was fabulous 👌
The stay was very nice we had a lovely room and the distance to the town was very good, very walkable.Rooms are OK just need abit more space to leave your clothes and coats
- andrew (7/5): -
- Phil (7/5): - Comfy bed Shower over the bath didn't have a wall mounted holder so was very awkward to use in the limited space available.
- Kevin (8/5): The Old Bell, Shrewsbury - Clean, tidy and comfortable room. It is a good walk in to the town centre, otherwise could not fault. Would like to know if the room features a bath or shower in advance.
- Prem (8/5): - Fairly basic but clean and good value for money. Lack of Car Parking.
- Gary (9/5): - The location was perfect, a 15 minute walk to the town centre. Great food and awesome staff. Nothing
- Walker_Family (8/5): I will stay again. - The staff are lovely and friendly. The pub felt welcoming and,, as a female travelling alone, i felt safe here. The location was great for me. The pillows could've been newer and the decor fresher, but these are minor things.
- ARAVIND (8/5): - Very convenient Not applicable
- Linda (8/5): -
- Fiona (6/5): Friendly staf. Description needs updating because they don’t serve breakfast - Decent location Dated small room, low ceiling and small bath
- dominic (10/5): -
- Bentley (3/5): No breakfast so we left first morning - I booked a bed and breakfast only to be told on the first morning they dont do breakfast even though the online information gives time for breakfast. We cancelled the rest of the stay and moved to a proper hotel. No breakfast and noisy fan in bathroom.
Keys didnot work to get back in and had to wait over 10 minutes in the cold for it to be sorted room key was also tempremental.
- J (6/5): - fairly comfortable
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Lovely ensuite with a bath! Quiet room with comfortable bed and tea/coffee making facilities. Very dim bulb in the room which made it a bit dark. Fan in the bathroom was very noisy.
- Artbag (10/5): A perfect antidote to Travelodge (Travelodge in Worcesester...never again). - We've never stayed here before but chose The Old Bell as a half way house on our way home from Worcester. And it turned out to be a very positive experience. Our family room was at ground level and very very good for the price.
We enjoyed a pie dinner for our evening meal and the room heater worked and kept the room warm. No complaints.
- Mackay (10/5): - Reasonable price
Bathtub
- Cogher (7/5): Good stay comfortable - We were warned that the lock on the door was due to be fixed and it proved a little tricky to open. Some lamps on the bedside tables would be helpful rather than having to switch on the main lights
- Richard (3/5): -
- Loffman (3/5): Could do better - Room was quiet could get sleep Toilet lid was broken skin plug broken hair dryer was broken cups could do with a good clean needs some maintain in all and would be a good stay then
- Ana (6/5): -
- Ian (7/5): Cosy nights sleep - Nice room good value for money Food options could have been better
- Matt (8/5): Nice little room - They let me check in early which was much appreciated. Nice little room with almost everything you could need. Despite what I've read in some of the other reviews, I had no issues with noise. Only about a fifteen minute walk from central Shrewsbury. No wardrobe. I had some hooks on the bathroom door with hangers. Not a deal breaker but might be annoying if you're traveling with a lot of clothing.
- Lesley (7/5): -
- Robert (7/5): Just right for an overnight - Good sized bedroom and bathroom
