Guest Reviews
- richard (1/5): - The hotwl doesnt do acvomodation and its still listed here Dont book
- Richard (1/5): Bad - After turning up to be told, The Queens Head is no longer a hotel. Then, having to find alternative accommodation for the night. At an extra cost of £144.00. It spoilt the event I was attending that evening Nothing
- Halliday (8/5): Great location and suited our needs. Also, the locals in the bar were friendly and interesting. - Manager Matt was welcoming & friendly The in house club was noisy, but we knew that at the time of booking, so no.probs.
- Mick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (3/5): The Queen's head is not a quiet option in a market town - Guests need to be aware before booking. - Room was cost effective Room was cold, with a small electric heater that struggled to keep up. Security of the room was dubious, as there was just a code lock which was loose, and no means of securing the door from within. There was no barrier to people either in the pub, or in the sports bar from wandering up into the rooms area. Biggest issue is that the room (in fact all of them) are on top of a Nightclub/Disco, where the noise levels in the room were so loud, it was impossible for us to get to sleep, even with earplugs in. This lasted to 4 AM, but when the music stopped, noisy, drunken shouting and arguing persisted at the front of the building until gone 5AM.
- Tony (8/5): They came to the rescue when other local accommodation failed. - Friendly staff and great location. Can checkin Up to 10:30
- Keith (8/5): Very good - What breakfast ? Noisy disco downstairs
- Danny (7/5): Good -
- Steven (2/5): Go somewhere else - Not alot Room cold & damp, poor shower, no toilet roll in the bathroom, TV poor.
- Sharon (1/5): We didn't stay, handed key code back and walked out! - Absolutely nothing! We were initially given a door code for a room that on entering someone was already in there so another room was allocated and it was shocking, dirty, ripped curtains, music was belting out and were told it would be until early hours, totally disgusting. Siukd be called a Hostel not a Hotel! Everything
- Carmella (8/5): Very good - This property is very convenient for a great night out in Ashby very lively area great value Friendly staff Nothing
- Charlotte (8/5): Better than expected - After reading reviews we were unsure what to expect, but the room was better than expected. Clean and comfortable. You need a code to get into the room and it's not the easiest to get in to.
- Theo (2/5): Awful. - The bar downstairs. Everything else. It was totally filthy, pubic hair in shower, coffee stains all over the sink, red wine stain in the bed. The bathroom wall appeared to have been taped together at the top. Window missing in the fire door on the top floor (big safety risk), and a foul small in all of the corridors. All in all, it was nothing short of a pit.
- Cass (8/5): Very good -
- Gary (1/5): Very load music! Didn’t get any rest or sleep! - Stayed for a work trip. Music going most of the night. Didn’t get any rest or sleep.
- Howard (1/5): I would not recommend anyone staying at this 'hotel' - - The room was freezing when I arrived
- No hot water
- The TV did not work
- The electric shower did not work See above
- Paula (5/5): Basic dated room - Central. Reasonable price and clean bedding. Helpful Staff. Old building with character. En-suite . Spacious room with TV No cups/glass for water. Thin curtains so very light. No mattress or pillow protectors and odd fabric bedding. A spring in bed noisy. Hairs in sink and black marks in toilet bowl. Headboard bangs. No double glazing so traffic noise. Only standard 4”6 bed so smaller than most. No chair
- Darren (8/5): Good Value for money and excellent service - The whole experience Nothing
- Jim (8/5): No frills accommodation, served a purpose. - location & Cost There was a smell of stale cigarette in the room.
- Larry (10/5): party town - amazing stay right in the heart of all the pubs. a great night on the town. all good
- Larry (10/5): Exceptional - Just what we wanted, a room in the centre of all the action in Ashby de la Zouch.
Great room and easy to access. If you want a night out in Ashby, then I recommend the Queens Head every time. All great
- Simon (4/5): Lessons in cleaning required. - The location was convenient. Room was mostly clean except for the toilet, very stained and the windows had cobwebs and dead insects. These are sash windows and on the top of the sash were dead flies and spiders. The toilet was stained and in need of a good clean. The shower was pretty useless as the shower head needed a good clean too.
- Darren (7/5): Pleasant, adequate - All Shower
- Ian (1/5): Worst ever! - Na The very loud night club under our room did not close until 4.00 am. The road where the inn is located was closed to traffic because of a huge fun fair. The hotel should really have been closed for the night to guests who weren’t there for the club
- Jo (3/5): Poor - Central to local amenities Room not clean. Toilet rocks when you sit . blood stain on entrance stairs. Had to ask for towels and coffee, sugar ect.
- Graeme (3/5): Shit. - Right on the main street. There is a club that stays open till 4am. The bass makes the room vibrate.
- Steve (1/5): Poor and greater notice should be given about the noise levels - Nothing Not very clear that this place was also a nightclub going on until 0400.
Room was very basic
- Eer (8/5): Very good -
- Clare (1/5): Comfy bed , and that’s where it ends . - Good location Very unclean, next to a night club not the best .
- William (7/5): Good -
- Mrs (4/5): If you’re not fussy about cleanliness then go for it, the location is good - Location was great The bathroom was filthy
- Craig (1/5): Never stay or recomend again and want refund - TV and location Clensines no bin horrible smell upon arrival and dirty toilet no cups for a hot drink only a bit of toilet roll mattress protector was stained and dirty and shower didnt have enough pressure unless its put on cold
- Mark (1/5): Left early for another hotel as it wasn’t going to be possible to get any sleep. The night club next door was very loud - It’s not the best location on a weekend unless you are in the nightclub next door.
- Natasha (1/5): Didn’t stay it was that bad! - We walk into property at 10with bouncers at the door and loud music in the night club. It felt seedy. With sticky carpets up to the rooms. Although rooms seemed reasonably clean the whole group agreed the pervasive loud thumping music and the sleazy environment would not enable a goodnight with no sound proofing at all.
We found another very pleasant hotel nearby and even with taxis there and back the next day was cheaper than staying at the Queens head.
We are extremely unhappy that booking.com listed this hotel with 2stars and no highlighted downside of nightclub. We paid and didn’t stay and hope the website can be reviewed and the Queenshead removed. We hope customer service might offer sone recompense for such a disastrous night. See above
- Kevin (3/5): If you want to sleep give it a miss - They played very load music until 2am o the Thursday night and 3am on the Friday night. With no thought of it's paying guests.
- Nicholas (1/5): We didn’t stay there was bottles glasses socks on the hall way that had not been taken away. - The location was good that was the reason we booked The hallway outside the room was cluttered with bottles socks just left. The bedding didn’t match it put us off. A lamp was on the floor not on a table. We walked in looked and left. It’s a shame because from the outside the building looks interesting. 60 pounds down the drain.
- Callum (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (1/5): Not for me. - Ermmm. Not much. The night club next door banging away til 4am every night of the stay.
The toilet door did not close properly. Bed side table was broken.
- Kola (10/5): Exceptional -
- Derek (6/5): Pleasant -
- Andrew (6/5): Average - The location Noisy delivery of beer in morning no curtains in bathroom
- Scott (7/5): Good - The location, Ashby is a gorgeous little town and there's plenty of nice pubs and food outlets to choose from The shower was tiny
- Shaun (7/5): Good -
- Carolyn (10/5): Excellent stay, pleasant room, central to Ashby and very pleasant, helpful staff - Matt at the Queen’s Head was so helpful and pleasant ! My room was just right - lovely comfy bed and a very clean en suite . Tea / coffee making facilities were very welcome too . An excellent stay - especially as I was flooded out of my tent due to storms ! Nothing really - it was all I needed .
- Ned01234 (9/5): Nice location for a night out in Ashby - Great location on Ashby High Street with parking available on the road outside 6 pm - 9 am. Our room was a good size and very clean. We stayed on a Monday night, so we had a drink on the way out, but the bar was shut by the time we returned around 11 pm (so no nightclub on a Monday night). Overall it was clean, very reasonably priced and in a great position, so we would definitely stay again. Only minor niggles for the price. There was no bottled water (this was listed as provided) but when I realised it wasn't there were no staff around to ask for one. 2 pillows but they were quite flat. It would have been nice to have hooks on the door to hang our towels to dry.
Lastly there was a bedside cabinet on one side with a bedside light - but no socket and no light bulb. Just seemed a random thing to set up.
- Carmella (10/5): if a lively atmosphere is for you this is just th place - perfect for a party night out in Ashby fab location lovely room actually slept very well fantastic value staff lovely would definitely stay again !!! nothing
- Frank (4/5): Disappointing - Good location, but noisy This is not a hotel any more - everything is outdated, and hallway is used for storage.
Is more a place to stay when one stayed too long in one of the two pubs
- Poppy (4/5): nice clean room but far to loud - room was clean and a good size had everything we needed. We booked the room to attend Download festival and was great driving distance away which avoided all traffic. Staff were really friendly. We were aware that there was a night club on Friday and Saturdays below the hotel on reading reviews, but we weren’t prepared for the sheer volume the music was going to played at. We couldn’t sleep until the club closed at 3am because the base shook the whole room me and my husband couldn’t hear ourself talk to each other over the music.
- Alexandra (10/5): The staff here are fabulous! a massive thank you to you all for helping us throughout our stay - cute little hotel above a pub and bar. pictures don’t do it justice, really nice, all the basics are covered. location is a lovely town with plenty of nice places for something to eat. nice and quiet. the locals are really friendly. the staff are amazing. I will be booking again
- Neil (8/5): great location, clean and functional. lively sports bar - location was fab and great bar
- Alex (5/5): Earlier than expected checkout - The doormen and the manager on duty when we arrived were very nice, and they accommodated my request for a later than normal check in time, comfortable bed It didn't say on the description that it was above a nightclub that stays open til 3am (although we were offered free entry into the club). The curtains did nothing to block out the streetlights so my room was still light all night. We were kicked out an hour earlier than we were supposed too, our booking said 11 and the hotel book in our room said the same, but a cleaner told us we had to leave as checkout was at 10, despite me showing her that it should've been 11, and then there was no one down stairs to talk to about this or even to give back our room keys too
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Frank (3/5): Not again - THe location The word hotel does not meet the facility any more - rubbish in hallways, outdated facilities, but clean
- Glendenning (2/5): Not to visit again - Location shame about choice of accommodation. The accommodation was off a low standard. Only one bedside drawers and no sidelight at all as o e supplied had no light in it.
This accommodation also had night club going the night we stand and was never informed about this. Final got to sleep at 4am but had to be up and out by 7am.
- Charlotte (6/5): Pleasant - the location was great for the area we needed there was no hot water on the first night
- Joe (6/5): Pleasant - Being woken up by the brewery delivery at 05:00 but I guess that’s part of staying in a public house.
- Sergiu (2/5): Very poor, if on the area again I would not go there for sure. - They do not serve food. The electric heater added on the room was not adequate to heat the room.
Very cold.
People arguing all night and trafficking the corridor, in couple of occasions trying to enter into my room.
- Andy (5/5): Passable -
