Guest Reviews
- Barbara (1/5): We didn’t get to stay here. - That we had a room reserved, confirmed, received emails the day before our stay about check in time etc and when we arrived we were told we didn’t have a room that they were overbooked, and had sent an email telling us that. The email was sent from an “Alice Champagne” and went to my spam folder, so we never saw it. This was completely inexcusable.
- Katherine (10/5): - The size of the room and the proximity to a very nice shopping center. I don't have any complaints
- Alan (10/5): It was wonderful! Thanks! - Great location! Comfy room. Good shower The huge swarming bumble bees by the door
- Beth (9/5): Beautiful weather and friendly staff - Close to a lot of things that we did
Friendly staff Na
- Morales (10/5): -
- A K (7/5): - Dog friendly Breakfast window too short
- Dennis (10/5): -
- Cherrelle (10/5): -
- Lauri (7/5): Booked for 3 nights, but needed to leave early because of a snowstorm with 12" approaching . - The size of the rooms and the kitchen appliances and the comfortable beds The Ice Machine was not working very well
- Mary Jo (10/5): - Alicia was so helpful, such a nice woman.
- Nadezda (5/5): - Um… Well the pool was not working and there was no reason. You could see into the pool and it was full so it seemed like there wasn’t anything wrong with it. Someone was cooking fish on the top floor and left the door wide open making the whole place smell like fish. At 9 in the morning on a Saturday mind you. Gross. Just over all blah. Not great.
- Kayla (9/5): I enjoyed my stay - The beds were extremely comfortable. The location was near attractions and restaurants. Amenities were abundant. Breakfast was delicious. The pool was out of order a majority of the stay.
- Kodjo (8/5): - Inside the suite was neat and pretty amazing The elevator is a bit scary and makes some noise
- Linda (10/5): -
- Josh (9/5): -
- keith (6/5): - Parking easy

- Keri (8/5): - I had a wonderful stay. It met my needs after my tumor treatment. It was quiet, clean, and the staff were friendly and attentive. There were a few things that could have been better: Marriott it is time to put in bigger TV’s, the internet was out majority of Saturday, and Friday night the cable did not receive the channel for the Hawkeye game. Front desk said it was blocked out, but Fox did work but it just would freeze up. Other than that I enjoyed my stay! Oh I clothe outside space was wonderful.
- Dallas (8/5): - The internet/wifi was one of the main struggles. There were a few mold spots around the room as well.
- Moeller (9/5): -
- Sonia (8/5): -
- Sarah (2/5): - We had no hot water all weekend, wifi was out, pool closed early so we couldnt utilize. They also have dish network so the tv service went in and out. For this to be a branch of marriot it was terrible. And the manager who ive left several messages for Alicia has failed to return any of my calls. We travel a lot for kids sports. I had a total of 6 people with us and it was not fun! Hotel never made it right. From what i heard at checkout thay MANY people were unhappy! :/
- Stephanie (10/5): - Close to Jordan Creek MALL , movie theater can go wrong best area in the city.
- Arnold (8/5): - I like the room setup. Room is clean and tidy. However their wifi is not working. Reported this matter but no action were taken.
- Clefford (10/5): - It's very peaceful and good customer service
- Rhonda (10/5): - We were impressed from the moment we checked in for our stay. Check in was smooth and our room was ready for us upon arrival. Our room was spacious, clean, with comfortable bed and pillows. Continental breakfast was satisfying. Free parking and internet a plus.
- Karen (10/5): Great stop - Great location, comfortable and friendly service.
- Prato Armagno (10/5): -
- ANGELA (2/5): - There is no way that Marriott would put there name on this hotel it they knew how gross and unkept it is. Shameful
- Ken (10/5): Great place to stay - Great place. So close to the mall we could walk there. We stayed there as a halfway point on the trip. Very impressed.
- Cavanaugh (8/5): - Clean with nice conveniences in the room The breakfast offering was the worst I have encountered in pretty much any hotel I have stayed at. Nasty powdered eggs, no fruit, the orange juice dispensed lightly colored water. Very disappointed,
- Huailiang (6/5): - Not clean, limited policy for room supplies
- Daniel (10/5): - Room was very nice
- Loren (4/5): - The noise in the lobby and outdoor areas drove us to our room for an important business meeting. The staff did nothing to quiet the teenagers or adults shouting Conversation was impossible.
- Yaroslav (10/5): -
- jamiejC6632GW (10/5): It only take 1 Staff Member for a stress free stay!! - This visit started like any other visit greeted by the staff and asked for a couple keys. Staff was friendly as ever. Breakfast was hot. Egg, bacon and biscuits and gravy.
Pool was very steamy - as a non-swimmer we sat outside the pool area. would have been great to have a door or window to let the steam out, but comdition of the pol was excellent besides that. Pool towels were replenished in a timely fashion.
There was 1 staff member that went out of her way to make our stay amazing. Her name was Dani F. and she provided us with a late check out due to the schedule of my 2 kids being in 2 different locations for aq basketball tournament. Made this moms life much easier to check out when it was in between games vs all at once first thing in the morning. Thank you very much we will stay here again.
- Vicki (10/5): - The facilities were very comfortable clean and well maintained. Breakfast could have had better choices and better supplies as had to use for waffles and no eggs. For the price was expecting better.
- Bobbi (10/5): Loved this hotel! Really friendly staff! Everything was great! - I loved my room! So clean and nice, modern. So quiet! N/A
- Taylor (10/5): - Our stay was really nice, the front desk staff was super nice and was very nice to our senior dog. If we ever need to stay in Des Moines again we will be staying here.
- Emma (8/5): - Good costumer series
- Bill (8/5): - Likes: Front Desk Staff — outstanding in every way; property location; easy parking [and free].
Dislikes: Daily breakfast hours [0900 is too early to shut things down]; condition of furniture in our room was substandard [doors wouldn’t close completely on chest of drawers + front panel strip came loose and fell off]; For a room offering guests the opportunity to prepare their own meals, the absence of a properly-sized trash bin is shocking; The room’s lighting makes it impossible to see things [Atmospheric lighting just doesn’t cut it when one’s eyesight is challenged. Light bulbs being out didn’t help, either; For an 11 evening stay, a visit by housekeeping only once seemed neglectful. My understanding was a refresh every other day and a complete cleaning once every 7 days. If that’s not an accurate understanding, then that’s on me. However, if that’s the property’s standard, for us, it was not met.
- Jenn (6/5): - Very expensive for cleanliness and amenities. The free breakfast was terrible!!!
- Adrienne (10/5): - -
- Samantha (6/5): 💔💔💔 - This hotel broke our heart - this was our normal go to hotel and one of favorite hotels in the country ! We travel a lot and probably stayed here 10 times - our last visit 2 years before this trip.
Wow - the maintenance on the place has really gone downhill. The bathroom tub was filthy. All the pillows were these weird plastic things that were hot and uncomfortable. Breakfast on the first morning was absolutely un-edible and on the second day then didn't even bother to put it out (went down at 9:15 with a 10:00 breakfast cut out).
I am hoping this was just a glitch trip with a worn down room - but we will think long and hard before staying here again.
- jhona lyn (10/5): - Staff are friendly.
- Emily (5/5): Passable - Location Half of the tv channels do not work, internet was extremely slow, ceiling lights in room didn’t work, hallways and elevators extremely hot
- monique (10/5): - Needed a quick hotel with a kitchen and this was amazing.
- Foster (8/5): Very good -
- Mark (10/5): Good choice! - Last minute choice and a good one at that. Front desk staff friendly & helpful. Rooms are large, clean and comfortable. Like the added kitchen. Breakfast was well prepared and tasty.
- Nicole (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was great! I loved that they were able to accommodate an extra bed for us! I think the trees need to be trimmed because I kept hearing the branches scraping against the window/siding throughout the night. The door knob to the bathroom needs to get fixed.
- Heather (6/5): Not sure I’d stay again. - The room I was put in was on the main floor right next to the staff maintenance area. Location was convenient but a strange spot for a room. In my opinion the room was much smaller than what it appeared in the photographs, but the functionality of it was OK as it did have a, full-size refrigerator And microwave. The flooring in the kitchen area was messed up. Just look like lack of some maintenance. This hotel looks like it’s been there for a while and just needs more TLC and cleaning than what they’re currently providing. The staff was friendly. For the price, it was probably worth it, but I think the hotel could do better if they just spend a little bit more time maintaining the rooms.
- Deveraux (8/5): - Enjoyed the location and ease of checking in. Did not like that the pool was down for maintenance but thats not a deal breaker
- william (10/5): - Location
- Hoover (8/5): Very good -
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff was amazing. Rooms very nice.
Only issue was the pool was cold! Grandkids and adults couldn't tolerate it for very long
- juliepE6664NV (4/5): Disappointed for the price - The location of the hotel is the only thing it has going for it-close to shopping and restaurants. Also the breakfast area was clean and they provide both hot and cold items for breakfast. We had a room with two suites. The rooms are very old and in poor condition. Lots of scraped walls, patched holes in walls, dirty stove top, and a severe lack of lighting-suggest a floor lamp and end table lamps. The door to the pool was full of rust-didn't even want to touch it. The women working the front desk were helpful and professional, however the male we encountered on 11/25 was rude with 'attitude.' In addition, there appeared to be a lack of communication between shifts. The DirectTV was 'down' for the whole hotel on Friday upon check-in, but when was asked at the desk for an update on Saturday, the associate didn't seem to know there was an outage. Being avid football fans, this was going to be a big part of our trip, but it was not to be.
- Linda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ana (8/5): Very good -
- Lori (10/5): - The receptionist was so friendly.
- Melody (10/5): - It was great!
- Kiley (2/5): - The room was clean, but the pool wasn’t and staff was borderline rude and not willing to be helpful.
- Fernando (10/5): - Great service, the only thing was when we open the sofa bed there was some dirt and the roll away mattress seemed yellowed in color.
- Stacy (10/5): - Really nice
- Chad (4/5): - The room smelled like mildew/mold. We bought air freshener but couldn’t get rid of the smell.
- Christina (6/5): - Maintenance needs to do a better job with things at property
- Akisha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location and kitchen amenities. Pool was nice for relaxing sore muscles. Breakfast was a plus but bad coffee had me making my own with a French press or going to Caribou. Pillows were so uncomfortable that we could not get good sleep and I had to make a trip back home to get our pillow cubes.
- Krista (8/5): - The property was quite nice. We were unable to stay in the room we had reserved because they no longer had any of those available. The front desk lady told me it was due to Expedia selling more rooms than what was available. I’m not sure if that was the case as the check in right before us got our room, we knew the people, and they had not reserved that room but instead had reserved something else.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The room was very spacious and clean.
- Opal (8/5): - Overall good experience with staff and cleanliness. Stayed in a 2-bedroom Accessible Suite. There was only one bathroom which could use some attention due to normal wear and tear. The televisions are very small. The kitchen was very well equipped. Was surprised by the full range complete with oven. The family loved the location and accessibilty to so many nearby attractions.
- Jessica (10/5): - Beautiful hotel and nice tooms
- xavier (6/5): - Nice area close to everything and safe, but the place was over used. There was water damage to the walls on both sides of the shower. There were stains in the sofa and stain on the fresh sheets. They provide shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the bathroom and the body wash was empty. The girl working the desk couldn’t find anything other than shampoo, so had to go off property to find. Also the water pressure in the morning went down to a trickle. We told the desk and they already knew. “Happens all the time”. Not worth the cost, but at least it was semi clean.
- Michelle (8/5): - Pleasant stay with comfortable bed and sofa bed. Layout was a bit awkward with sofa bed directly facing the bed. Friendly staff and hotel near plenty of shopping and eateries.
- Daniel (8/5): - Ok
- Beverly (10/5): - We have stayed at this motel many times. The rooms are very clean and spacious. It is located in the middle of wonderful shopping choices and restaurants. It’s in a very quiet and safe area.
- Eboni (10/5): The room was comfortable, great breakfast choices and friendly staff - The staff was friendly, and made us feel welcome. The hotel was close to shopping and restaurants and just 10 minutes from the rec center which our church convention was being held. Great location! N/a
- Lenae (8/5): - We’ve stayed at TownePlace a few times a year and it never disappoints. Great friendly staff. Awesome sitting areas in the lobby which was perfect for our football and basketball teams. The outside fireplaces are nice and open so they sit quite a few too. Breakfast is always great and plenty available. It’s next to the mall and lots of food options plus gaming areas as well. Highly recommended.
- Beverly (10/5): - We stay here every time we are coming through this area. It’s a great place to stay.
- Kristen (6/5): Overpriced, great location - It would have been nice to have some disposable cups for my kid in the bathroom. The TV was in the weirdest place ever no one could really see it. There was some dirt and hair in the bathroom. 215 a night was insane for that small room, and the pool area was kinda gross. Vending machines would have been nice to have. The table was broken/missing a wheel so it tipped over. Everything else was fine.
- Jeff (2/5): - Spent 250 dollars for a room and showed up at 6:30 wanted to freshen up for dinner reservations and room was not ready. The final answer from the staff was “I cant tell you when it will be ready”. Then when we arrived hours later we talked to the manager about it and the initial desk help was there and he lied to manager saying we were abusive towards him. Manager sent him home. This is a very short version of the night.
- johnvG8558LN (10/5): Great first-time stay - This was my first stay with this brand and I was very impressed. I did not make the reservation. The room included a mini-kitchen of refrigerator and two-burner countertop complete with pots, plates, cups, etc. and all were in excellent condition. I did not use the kitchen. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was in excellent condition and had a good sized closet to hang clothes. I don't normally review beds since they are very subjective. It was very good. The hotel was busy because of weekend events and it was still quiet and easy. The outdoor patio was clean and in great condition, and a nice touch! Breakfast included typical hot foods. All was well supplied and a good variety of traditional hot and cold foods. Plenty of shopping and restaurants either in a walk or short drive. Great stay!
- Amy (8/5): Very good -
- Heidi (10/5): - Beyond easy access to so many things.
- Ruth (10/5): - Staff were lovely and made us feel welcome. Great area to walk to several different restaurants. Would definitely recommend.
- Ronald (4/5): - The breakfast was plain bad. The sausage was never cooked. I was there eating what couldn’t be cooked. All the time there was never an attendant present.the pool was nice but extremely hot.
- Angela (10/5): - It felt like a home away from home. Convenient for our trip and at a reasonable price.
- Ashley (8/5): Very good - Room size was small
- Patricia (10/5): - Loved it!!
- Nicole (8/5): - Nice location. Water pressure could have been better but it was the 4th floor. Not informed of incidental charges and booked off another site. Have not had this problem with other bookings. However all in all a very pleasant property and comfortable sleep!
- ChristinaE126 (8/5): Pleasant Stay - We stayed only one short night. The staff was pleasant and friendly. There were enough sheets for the pullout couch bed without having to ask. The room was decent sized and comfortable. The breakfast was pretty standard offerings but was good. It was what we expected.
- Samuel (10/5): - Always stay here.
- Nathan (4/5): - The staff was very pleasant and welcoming. The hallway near our rooms and inside our rooms smelled like marijuana. The shampoo container was empty and there was no hand soap in the bathroom. The room was otherwise clean. The morning of check out we lost all water pressure making departure less than ideal.
- Brenda (2/5): Not good - Messed up our reservations and got charged twice. Very smoky hallways.
- Steven (5/5): Room issues tarnished what would have been a nice stay - Location was great being adjacent to the mall. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good with decent selection of items. Room looked very nice and seemed well accommodated. Bed was comfortable. Unfortunately, the bad outweighed the good on this stay. The TV screen was damaged so it was impossible to watch, which at the time was not a deal breaker as I had my iPad with me. The sink was slow draining in the bathroom which again not a huge deal as these rooms have a kitchenette with a sink which did work fine. However, when I went to use the shower in the morning, I found out quickly that the tub was also slow draining. To top that off, the soap was missing from the dispenser in the shower. The only soap I had was a facial bar from the sink. At least the shampoo was full. One final thought - when I checked out, the front desk person was busy so I only got to talk to what I assume was cleaning staff. While they took a note of my issues with the room, they offered no apology or explanation for the problems I experienced.
- Allyson (10/5): - Perfect stay for our family. 2 bedroom with kitchen! Love having the space and appliances to have food and drinks in our place. Very comfortable. Super nice staff too! We will be back!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The water in the tub would not drain. Breakfast selection was slim. Essentially had eggs but no proteins.
- Michael (6/5): - Dog poop all around the southern part of hotel. Absolutely been there awhile.
