Guest Reviews
- Venture64043262343 (2/5): Ignored - If I could I would give 0 stars and I will never try to plan an event here again. I was trying to book this venue for my baby shower, and for days I tried to track down their event manager Dorina and get an answer about availability (my event is during peak summer). After several unanswered Calls, emails, and texts. I was finally able to get confirmation that they had my date. After agreeing to put down a deposit to keep my date, I was ghosted. No information was provided on how I would be able to give my deposit and every time I call this business trying to get an answer or connect with Dorina, I am told to give my name/number and she will get back to me, I have never once been called back. I have never dealt with a more unprofessional or unorganized planner or venue and I am amazed anything gets done.
- Anthony (6/5): -
- Carlos (5/5): It was a great gateaway but I'll never will stay there again - what I like was that the pool was big and they had music and bar near the pool. It was close to the beach. easy excess to the room. here wasn't much of a breakfast compared to the cost of the rooms they charged. There was only cereal single serve, small apples and small oranges. they on had dansish and orange joice from cartain. The beds was hard and I had back pain from sleeping on the bed.
- James (9/5): -
- Daniel (10/5): Great - Great pool arsa
- Diane (8/5): We will return. - First, I would definitely return. We loved our room overlooking the pool & spa. But there was only the outdoor eating (restaurant under construction) and the breakfast had coffee but not much else. When we found out the hotel was from the 1920's we realized why there was no elevator and some of the other older elements.
I look forward to returning and seeing the updates in place.
STAFF IS AWESOME, all the desk support and entire crew.
- Samantha (3/5): Would not stay there again. Was not worth the price. - It was centrally located to where we needed to be. We arrived early in the day and were able to check in at that time. The waiter at the pool was excellent and came to us and asked if we wanted anything. At check in, I just provided my name and was given room keys. No confirmation via valid ID was done. The room itself appeared clean, but for being a newly renovated room there was some damage. The TP holder was sliding down the wall, the towel holder had marks as well as various spots within the room. The shower also leaked all over the floor while using and no bathmat was provided. The cabinet that held the mini fridge has seen better days. The light switches on the wall did nothing for the lights and because we were an obstructed pool view with a pathway out our window we could not open the blinds to let light in, so it was dark. The pool area is nice, but the pool itself needed to be cleaned better. There is also no elevator and with a broken foot, it was difficult to get up and down the stairs. For the price per night, I expected much better.
- Anthony (10/5): -
- Charles (1/5): I would not stay there again. The front desk was just a hole and you couldn't id it as a front and - It was the worst I have seen. The room was messy. I wood not eat there or eat the food. Which which there was not much of. I went to get a tea bag and there wasn't any. Staff went to get them and the next day the box was just thrown on top of something The bed was hard and had lumps in it. For $350 a night it was very unimpressive. It needs updating. There was only one chair outside so 3 people could not sit outside.
- patricia (7/5): - Beautiful wedding venu The room was very sloppy half glass shower cheap curtain hiding the outside lot very disappointing also no
One mentioned we had to climb the steep stairs in the lobby no elevator
- Joseph (5/5): Tiring - The staff were excellent and we needed a place to stay in Spring Lake The rooms are old. The air conditioner was extremely loud when operating. The location is close to the street so you hear loud voices all night.
- Frank (9/5): - Very quiet Very small bathroom
- Tamari (10/5): -
- Melisa (3/5): Felt like a red roof inn once inside the room - very disappointing - Not much - pics on website are deceiving. The two girls at the front desk were lovely. The shower was nice in the room. That is it. First off, the fake flowers everywhere are hideous when you look at the chandeliers. We were scolded by one of the staff members for taking a piece of candy out of a dish. We were awakened at 3 AM by drunken men in the room next-door and were unable to go back to sleep for two hours because of how loud and obnoxious they were. We thought we would be offered at least some sort of a refund off of our credit card, but we were not. The room felt very Econolodge/red roof inn like in decor. It looks nothing like the pics on the website. Very disappointing. Would not return.
- Pioneer15242441043 (2/5): Avoid if possible - Room was in very poor condition. Plywood hard mattress, no coat hangers, bathroom had no shower mat, nor towel racks, pedestal sink with no room for toiletries. Also very loud fan that could not be cut off without cutting off only light. Toilet was running and when reported to front desk nothing was done. All this for $240 a night.
- dalm0m (6/5): More money, less to like - I’m guessing the place changed hands because we didn’t see the owner anywhere. There have been renovations & those horrible old “keys” that looked like a cross between a domino & a credit card have been replaced by regular key cards. You can also get a wrist band which may be easier for kids.
The lobby bar was never opened while we were there. We used to be amused by the senior happy hour raging in full force when we checked in. We enjoyed grabbing a night cap upon our return to the property.
They paved the parking lot & upgraded the bathrooms but it's still an old Jersey shore motel. The mattresses are hard as rocks. I probably could have slept in the newly repaved parking lot with the same level of discomfort. The shower head was better. It was hard to use the shampoo, conditioner & soap; the bottles may have been almost empty but it took a lot of hands strength to get anything to come out. There was no complimentary lotion. The full sized bath sheets were a nice upgrade.
Breakfast used to be wonderful, delicious, plentiful & filling. Now it was cold bagels or stale cereal, lukewarm coffee/ tea & only one kind of juice. It’s now served in the little room between the dining room & the bar which previously seemed like storage. The furniture was arranged to all face the same way, like a theater, not a restaurant. It was so sad.
The prices doubled but the hospitality disappeared. If I’m going to pay through the nose I might as well go to a B&B but there seem to be fewer of them in Spring Lake; many seem to have reverted to single family homes which is a shame.
- 729sweetj (2/5): Worst room ever!! - Worst room I ever stayed in. Dirty floors, cobwebs, stains on sheets. For the prices they charge, I’d rather stay at motel 6.
- joannmK3877MO (2/5): Disappointed - Great location (Spring Lake NJ) The room and the facilities were terrible! The price WAS NOT close to being worth the location.
- Paul (7/5): Perfect for what we were looking for - Location was great, room was clean and comfortable. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating. We arrived later than expected and the communication prior to arriving was excellent. Pool area was large and clean, and they had plenty of seating and fresh towels available. Walls are paper thin, and you could hear the (very loud) TV from the adjoining room and people talking. The room was recently updated but still needed some finishing touches.
- moenanny (2/5): Nightmare - The worst room i have ever in my life stayed at The rooms were dingy shower leaked leaving puddle of water all over They changed our room Not much better No full lenght mirror The soap for shower could not squeeze out and shampoo Had to go buy some. No curtain on window Just a shade Water stains on ceiling One nite table One day no wash cloths all out was told Coffee carafes always empty Grubby chair Spent a day out came back and my door was left open When they cleaned room did not shut door properly No restaurant open No bar Under renovations they said. Would not stay there again!!!Nicole the checkin clerk was very nice and tried to accomadate She definitely was a pleasure!! They need to shut all rooms down and totally renovate Do not recommend at all!!!
- scott (8/5): - The pool No microwave in the room
- Anthony (6/5): Definitely convenient however pricing compared to room quality not a fair deal - Main entrance is outstanding very beautiful Extremely disappointed that the bar and restaurant was closed, that was a main focal point of our trip not to leave the premises for drinks and dinner . We were never told that the restaurant and bar has been closed .
The mattress was extremely old and had a massive concave in the center.
- Carolyn (8/5): A Hidden Getaway Paradise - The staff was excellent and could
'n''tdo more to make the stay a very good experience. The music and outdoor café made it truly a holiday event. The newly renovated bathroom with the walkin shower was great as well as the water pressure. The wonderful free breakfast left nothing to be desired . The pool with the surrounding palm trees gave it a carribbean feel . It is quite a hidden paradise and only 5. Minutes to the beautiful beaches. There were somethings lacking in. The room. When we ordered from door dash there was no table or chairs to sit on so we used the ironing board. A microwave would have been nice to warm up the leftovers. The towels were plentiful and soft but no space for toiletries The telephone to reach the front desk didn't work. Many of the electrical outlets did not work.
- Jane (4/5): It served a purpose to be close to family, but we will not be returning. - The swimming pool was a good size and the area around it was nice The housekeeping service was atrocious, and completely missed us on 3 mornings, so we had to request new towels etc. When we arrived there wasn't even any coat hangers in the room.
The room that we stayed in was basic to say the least and there was no hotel information like wifi codes etc.
- Emanuele (5/5): - Amazing staff, nice shower Everything else was poor especially the cleanliness of the room, awful.
Could not open the windows and there were no blinds.
- Dbirch373 (2/5): Frat House Accommodations with Luxury Resort Prices - Only positives I can give this hotel is that the location is great and the staff is very friendly.
The hotel is EXTREMELY dated and rundown, yet they charge ridiculously high prices and even have the nerve to charge a "resort fee". While they say all rooms are renovated, it is very misleading. They put in a new bathroom sink and shower. However, they did nothing to the rest of the rooms. The floors, walls, ceilings are damaged, dirty, warped, etc. It is nearly impossible to open the room door without the force of your whole body. Beds are awful. They claim certain amenities on the website yet there is no microwave, Keurig, or hair dryer in the room. Safety is an issue since the doors that go to the parking lot have no locks...there are literally holes in the doors where the locks were. Anyone can get to any of the rooms at any time of the day or night. Do not stay here!
- Suarez (10/5): -
- Jeanne (7/5): - I feel like The Shore Club was probably a great hotel in its heyday! It feels like it was probably a part of Spring Lake history. I would like too see it updated and given some TLC. The concrete is cracking, the upper decks of the hotel rooms need work. Maybe put away the old beverage carts that have been outside since our last visit. The rooms are fine for short stays.
- Koreena (4/5): It was what it was. - The pool was nice and lively. The rooms. Sparse, no dressing mirror, beds were really uncomfortable. The remodel of our room was clearly poorly done.
- Jeanine (7/5): - The property needs renovations and repairs, it’s looking old and shabby. Also, very strange that they always the public by the pool area . It was packed with people who weren’t staying there.
- Meaghan (4/5): I just slept there and felt gross staying there. - Nothing I walked in and the hotel looked run down & a party just left. Ceilings are awful. The rooms are run down. Smelled musty
- Nicole (9/5): Superb - Location was great. Pool was very nice The room was alittle dark, could of had better lighting, there was a closet area but no rod or handers
- Jimemmersonjr (2/5): Dingy room and poor accommodations - Although the room was clean, it was dingy. The bathroom light didn’t work, the vent was loud and rattled. The shower drain didn’t didn’t work. The a/ c blew directly at the bed, so to keep from freezing we had to turn it off at night. The pool bar was only open two out of three days and the pool food was only available once one day. The pool is used by locals for pre. We had to pay a resort fee to use the pool. Does this make sense? One day at 4pm we had to call to have our room cleaned. We will never stay here again nor recommend it to anyone
- 899virginiad (2/5): Terrible hotel - This had to be one of the worst hotels I have stayed in. The a/c cycled on and off making it difficult to sleep. More importantly, the locks were removed from all the doors leading to the outside making it easy for anyone to just walk in. The electronic key to the room was good, but the deadbolt was removed. It is a pretty hotel and was more appropriate as a wedding venue. Not good for day visitors of Spring Lake.
- Dayra (3/5): Poor -
- Laurie (10/5): Love this Boutique hotel - Our crew loved our stay. Beds were comfortable, cocktails & vibe at pool were so chill. 2nd visit here & it never disappoints Definitively needs some updating, but didn't bother us
- Ebrad101 (8/5): Very good -
- Deborah (9/5): Superb -
- Deborah (8/5): Below average for the cost bot location to where I was going spot on. - The entrance the staff and location The room was dated the chair and only chair in the room was fallen apart we fix the toilet flapper to make it run no counter space in the bathroom or additional chairs or tables in the room.
Pool needs a painting at the bottom.
- ladyamandamay (4/5): Surprisingly bad - This hotel was an amazing bad experience. For the price point you don’t expect something in worse shape than a motel six. Read the other reviews. The room smelled musty. So much of the furniture was in horrible condition in our room. The ceiling tiles were messed up from water damage, shower didn’t look clean, but my biggest complaint was the shade for the window that was messed up. I had to put things in the window to block the light. From the outside we noted most of the shades for the other rooms were also messed up. I was in the main building, in one of the larger remodeled rooms, and it was still amazingly bad. The pool, which granted wasn’t open, had trash in it. The whole liner of the pool was cracked and chipped.
- Amrhein- (3/5): Poor - The place is out dated and needs some updates. The walls had holes in them. The bathroom door handle wasnt on properly. How the walls and ceilings looked like they had mold on them. Pool was dirty.
- Conor (1/5): Very bad value for money, not hygienic or clean. - The reception area was nice The room was absolutely filthy and there were cigarette butts right outside the door!
- Dibattista (8/5): Relaxing - The staff are super friendly and accomodated all our requests... The TV system...
- rg66 (2/5): Rundown - We arrived at approximately 4:30pm and first, were not allowed in the front door due to picture taking for a wedding but it was very unclear as to where we were supposed to enter.
We were given Room #128. We were surprised to see a basement room. We had to go below ground level. Not exactly what you want to spend your money on. The room looked in disrepair. It was extremely dark, there was no hot water or warm water in the bathroom sink for our entire stay. There were nails in the wall where I suppose a picture should have been hanging. There was just a shade to pull down for our front window, thereby leaving a sliver open for anyone to see and making the morning light come in when we would prefer to sleep. The connecting room was a joke. It was though a curtain was there, we heard everything in the adjoining room. And we could see the shadows under the door. In the middle of the night, the air conditioning stopped working. We could not get it to go back on. And the musty smell was just not good. No hand towels in the bathroom but about 4 or 5 bath towels left stacked on the back of the toilet. How unsanitary. No full length mirror in the room.
We did not have the luxury of time since we were attending a wedding there. Otherwise we would have asked for a room change.
Therefore, we were thoroughly disappointed in this stay and would not recommend this place to anyone.
- Deborah (5/5): Chosen hotel for my convention firm the road. For the money spent, not really worth it. - The proximity to the venue where I was attending a convention. No elevator and steps required for every room. Old rooms and mismatched furniture. Lack of storage/shelving in tiny bathroom.
- Foreman (8/5): It was a great time - Room was spacious and very clean The pool wasn’t open
- amandasW629CV (4/5): Worst stay ever! - Pictures on website are deceiving. I was shocked with how rundown our rooms looked. It's old, and musty. The ceiling tiles have water stains. The shower stall was laughable. No shower curtain. Just a small partition of glass. Water runs all over the bathroom floor. There's a giant hole next to the shower head. The tiles are installed on a slant so when you're in the shower it makes you feel dizzy. The toilet ran all night long. Had to jiggle the handle multiple times. The outlet in the bathroom doesn't work. Barely any room in the bathroom. Beds are RIDICULOUSLY small. My daughter's room, we could barely close the door. Looked like someone took a crowbar to the doorjamb. Her room looked just as bad. There were also no electrical plates on the outlets in both rooms. They show renovated rooms on the website, yet the poolside rooms are just awful. Will not stay here again.
I'm giving it two stars because the raw oysters were phenomenal.
Beware, drinks are OVERPRICED. Not even top shelf quality.
- Diane (1/5): Bad -
- Susan (3/5): Poor - The venue for the wedding was beautiful. Service and food were great! Rooms were old. Lumpy bed. Definitely needed updating!
- Marge (8/5): Very good - The facility was lovely and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Was surprised there was no elevator.
- Ronnie (9/5): Very comfortable - The location was very close The Manor, where our HS reunion was at. I liked the property
- Eunice (3/5): Nice hotel! I would have given it a high rating if the heater in my room worked. - The heater in my room was not working and unfortunately the outside temperature dropped significantly at night. I slept very little trying to get warm.
I suggest that the staff check the heaters when the weather changes so drastically.
- Joseph (6/5): Pleasant -
- Wanda (2/5): Worst experience not worth the money - It was near event had to attend The room needs renovation. No table to eat, the chain on door broken, felt dirty, smelled. 5 star rate for a 2 star hotel. Very disappointing for the area. Toilet running water couldn't sleep, was scared someone would come in room, put my luggage and ironing board on door in case. Fan in bathroom smelled smoky, couldn't reach shower without getting wet. Entrance is outside didn't feel safe. Need a serious makeover, need a good carpenter. Doir looks like someone kicked it in. If I could drive home would of left
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emily (4/5): Wouldn’t stay again - I liked how close the rooms were to the parking lot. Our room was right next to the maids room which was loud all night, there was a cigar bar at the wedding held there that night and the next morning cigar casings everywhere, and the bathroom was so small there was no counter space.
I wish we had been told our room was right next to the maids room, and if so warned that it would be loud all night.
- Dibona (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kathleen (4/5): Disappointing - Room had strong odor of cleaning disinfectant. Shabby accomodations. Needs.remodeling
Nice lobby and pool. Tiny bathroom.
- Christina (5/5): Passable -
- John (7/5): Good - The facility smelled a little musty. The pool looked like it had some mold on the sides of the wall.
- Ryan (7/5): It was fine - There was no breakfast Bar closed
- Katie (8/5): Very good - Very clean, comfortable bed, nice staff, great pool Not quite as nice as the pics
- Isabella (4/5): Disappointing - Location It was old dirty and expensive
- Rachel (7/5): Good - Rooms were small but pool area and bar were great
- Anne (3/5): We will never come here again - Nothing -absolutely nothing The pool was dirty, old, uncared for- was reprimanded as soon as we got there for drinking our own drinks or bringing snacks
The rooms were gross, moldy, filthy looking and run down- rusty chair outside, awful paint job, a horror
- Lauren (4/5): Disappointing -
- Jennifer (5/5): Passable -
- Eileen (9/5): Beds were comfortable, staff was very nice. - The pool area was nice. The breakfast was terrible.
- Cheryl (5/5): Passable - Location was great for my purpose - class reunion at the Renaissance in Ocean. I had been going to Doolan's since I was little with my father who was Mike Doolan's first cousin. I even worked there during the summer of 1974 as a chambermaid. The breakfast left a lot to be desired for the price one pays for the room.
- Gallo (8/5): A very enjoyable birthday celebration - Pool, outside bar, comfortable large bed, nice shower Near the electric room, rust
- Aaron (8/5): Very good - Great pool, friendly staff, good location, not over crowded Rooms were smaller than expected
- Monique (8/5): Good stay except for giving me the wrong bed size. - Easy access to restaurants and beach. Property was ok. Clean. I was given the wrong bed size queen not so comfortable- I booked a king. Hotel manager gave me an adjustment on the room rate.
- Mangino (1/5): We went to the Shore Club to attend a friend's birthday party. The food/service were excellent - Did not stay for breakfast. The dead bolt lock on our door was broken, the lighting was poor, the room had an awful odor (most likely from using cheap cleaning products), the bathroom was not cleaned properly (there were hairs in the sink upon check in)
- Jillian (8/5): Clean, perfect quick beach and pool trip - Close to everything we needed. Easy travel to Spring Lake, Asbury, and Belmar. Pool is big compared to other places and bar was great. Clean and simple. Perfect for what we were looking for, for a couple of nights. Lounge chairs were nice near the pool and music was great. We had a relaxing time. Had small issue with the toilet and front desk was responsive and maintenance came quickly. The room had a loft that wasn’t mentioned in descriptions, it wasn’t for our use and was off limits. Remnants of the dated property, looked eery up there. No breakfast offered, even continental would have been nice for a stop and go. Used to be offered before new ownership. All in all can see improvements and many to be made.
- Belinda (10/5): This place is nice family spot like I said old school felt like we were in Hollywood Florida I will visit again but a su - Nice old school vibe clean good service Intermission due to wedding seems we lost an hour due to a wedding in progress inside the place. They asked us to leave the pool. My grand kids didn’t understand why.
- Catherine (8/5): Very good - the pool was really big and clean, the staff was great, the staff by the pool dining was exceptional, the food by the pool was excellent the breakfast could have been better there were only two items to choose from. There were less items to choose from this year compared to 2023.
- Sharon (8/5): Very good -
- Foley (7/5): It was ok. - They have a nice pool area and very good restaurant. A big a Nice parking lot. The bedrooms is a little outdated it needs improvement.
- T (2/5): Very poor -
- Vish61 (4/5): Not happy with room - They get a two star rating based on the pool area and the live two piece band. As far as the room is concerned the bathroom ceiling has black mold on the ceiling tile . You can see that they must have had water damage from the above floor bathroom. The bathroom light had two light bulbs out leaving only one light bulb working making it even more dingy . Only had one night stand .
- Annmarie (4/5): Not a fan of an expensive stay. Would not recommend - Landscaping outside Mold smell in lobby, uneven roof top walk to my room, a lot of stairs to parking lot. Bathroom mirror and lighting horrible for getting ready for event. Bathroom fan very noisy and poorly functional. Noisy band at poolside Fri night.
- Mirlo (5/5): Passable - Hardly any lighting in the room. Floors weren't clean, not updated.
- Brooke (9/5): Superb -
- Veronica (4/5): Disappointing - Pool. Plenty of mirrors. Close to store and restaurants. Plenty of parking. People not staying at hotel were using the pool, overheard their conversation. Room by pool, had an event on Sunday evening and very loud. The rooms are not clean and bad attempt at small renovations. Rooms had a smell.
- Karen (7/5): Good -
- Brianna (9/5): Superb -
- Laurie (10/5): Perfect family vacation spot - Staff was so friendly. Room was immaculate. They were kind to give us late checkout. Loved the pool
- Angela (4/5): Disappointing - Just the pool area and lobby seemed updated The accommodations were lacking. TV was broke, door was broken and bed had springs coming up sp definitely not worth the money
- Dena (2/5): Very poor -
- Braitman (1/5): It was dirty the staff was rude - Nothing Everything
- Mark (9/5): My stay was 4 out of 5 star.i will reommend your hotel to friends - Dinner the food the drinks the staff the decor was 5 star Hotel room door stuck...ice machine is not located in a easily accessible place
- Christine (8/5): Very good -
- Harvey (6/5): Certainly not a good value. - Although we didn’t use the pool, the pool area was very nice. The room was worn, with old furniture. The bed was not comfortable, too hard. Bathroom was remodeled and nice. Front door should be replaced, it was old, scratched, missing finishing.
- Karla (8/5): Overall, just what we needed for our beach trip to Belmar! - Good location ! The pool bar and the pool No communication when I tried calling the hotel . No answer and no call back . So I had to book through third party
- Eppolito (5/5): Check in time was 3:00. We arrived at 3:50 after a drive of an hour and half. Our room was not ready. The excuse the the - The location was the best part of our stay. Spring Lake is a beautiful area The room needs a facelift. Definitely needs blackout curtains. At 6:00am, the room was as light as day.
- Kellie (8/5): We had a wonderful stay! - Pool view, pool, pool bar, restaurant, convenience, close drive to beach & plenty of parking. Not enough chairs to lay out by the pool and toilet kept running.
- Rrezarta (1/5): Bad - I had a disappointing experience at your establishment. I called the phone number provided on the desk before 11 PM to report a non-functioning toilet, but the staff member on duty seemed indifferent and kept us waiting at reception for over 10 minutes while she stayed upstairs in her room. It felt like her sleep was prioritized over attending to paying guests who deserve better service, especially considering the amount we paid—over $200. Additionally, when she finally came downstairs and we informed her about the toilet issue, she appeared bothered and did not handle the situation promptly or courteously.
- Wojciech (4/5): Room needed work before it was ready for booking. - Nice pool and pool bar Room was not maintained, the electrical outlet was loose and missing cover plate, GFCI outlet in the bathroom was broken, broken curtains, bathroom door primed and not painted, slow sink drain, some of the pillow cases not very clean and some regular towels not provided only pool towels ware provided.
- Amanda (5/5): Overpriced for the conditions. - The staff was nice and there was ample parking. The facility is structurally unattractive. You can tell that the rooms were remodeled, but it was not done well. There are spaces between the floorboards, and the walls and paint is coming off of the walls. Overall, it was a very poor remodel You can hear everything going on outside in the rooms. I wanted a place with free breakfast, which is a big reason why I chose this facility. The free breakfast includes coffee and dry cereal with milk. I would not consider that a continental breakfast.
- Tom (5/5): Passable - Accommodations
