Guest Reviews
- Volodymyr (10/5): -
- Elisa (8/5): Nice stay - Restaurant and Sauna on site Nothing
- Kimberly (8/5): Fun, comfortable hotel right at the marina. Easy walk into town and close to State Park. - Nice update of an older property. Bed was very comfortable. Appreciate the amenities and extra sheet for the pup. And also appreciate the free tickets to local Crab Races the week I was there. The shower did not get hot. Management was responsive and unable to fix it over the weekend so provided a reasonable discount. Mistakes and issues happen and they were handed graciously and effectively.
- Mutende (8/5): -
- mitchell (9/5): - Easy checkin, location, quiet Heater made weird noise intermittently

- Kathleen (9/5): A most pleasant return to my home town! Helpful employees - Curtesy coffee& tea appreciated.
Absolute calm. Room well sound-proofed.
Ground-floor pub used & appreciated.
No parking problems. Toilet and wash bowl renovated, but not the shower.
However it was functional.
- Rachel (1/5): Mold, filthy rooms -
- Nan (9/5): One of our best stays on the trip, - Staff was friendly, the room was clean the views of the Marina were lovely and the Pub had great food and drinks. Hotel had a lot of character.

- Kevin (9/5): We had a great time and would love to come back - Close to the harbor Breakfast would be great.
- Haug (9/5): -
- Calvin (7/5): Inexpensive off season room. - Location convenient. Bed was comfortable. Lighting in room was poor. Overhead LED light fixture improperly wired to dimmer switch. Bed lamp only on one side of bed. Chairs in room uncomfortable.
Wish pub was open but understand need to have a couple of days off for a small business.
- Dulcie (9/5): Lovely -
- Jill (9/5): Enjoyed our stay, good restaurant - Nice restaurant/bar
Clean and comfy
Good value
- Sundt (9/5): Fine - Breakfast? Restaurant food could be better.
- PKSchlo (9/5): - It's a nice spot on the harbor and the food at the pub was amazing.(Chowder and chicken pot pie!! š) Rooms and beds are comfy and clean. We'd stay again! ???
- Egor (10/5): - We had a room with a king-size bed. Mattress was so good, I had the best sleep. The most comfortable mattress.. Nothing
- MICHELE (7/5): -
- Deborah (10/5): Cozy and Perfect for a little retreat -
- Constance (10/5): Great stay in Ilwaco! - A simple independent hotel room with a refreshed feel. Nice towels, new cork flooring, etc. we booked same day and had smooth sailing with prompt and thorough communications. Cute little harbor area too!
- Alberto (8/5): -
- mitchell (9/5): - Room was clean and comfortable. Staff at hotel and pub very helpful and professional. Enjoyed the view from pub and walking with our dog along the walking path.

- billick (10/5): -
- K (10/5): - Before Salt Hotel and Pub opened or reopened(?) we only thought of Ilwaco as a fishing stop. Now for us itās a destination! Great food and drinks at the pub, cozy comfy rooms, minutes from Long Beach and Astoria.
Highly recommend!
- Brian (10/5): - Incredibly friendly staff
- Felix (10/5): - Great staff | clean room | shopping and dining nearby
- Tammy (8/5): - It was just a little loud, sounded like an elephant upstairs. Could hear kids running around at 7.
- Cindy (4/5): Mixed opinion - Let me start by saying we would probably stay here again just not in tue same room. We loved the ease of check in and communication by text. The bed was super comfortable. The consā¦. A little noisy with the window open and people sitting in the courtyard area. The bathroom was a big issue. The large, loud drip of the shower the entire stay was super annoying and the bathroom door had a terrible squeek and loudly scraped the wooden threshold. Every nighttime bathroom trip woke the other up.
- Marie (8/5): -
- David (6/5): Wouldn't stay again - Room was clean and cute... bed was Terrible! We left with sore bodies... all over! bed is so soft there is no support. slocation was not as expected... very noisy , woke up at 4:30am to a guy screaming in the parking area across the street. Cars, and Trucks dribing by all night long...not a food experience at all... we were looking for something relaxing, this was not. BTW... i never leave reviews for anything, but i wouldnt recommend this place to anyone
- Michael (10/5): - What a cool little port motel. It's very clean and has all the amenities you need. Ilwaco is close to everything and this would be a great base if you wanted to do some charter fishing. My only knock is that the walls a a bit thin. This is only a problem when people are outside yelling or whistling at each other. The rooms are small and comfy. I knocked a star off staff because there wasn't one. Our bed was cozy. The towels are fluffy. The soaps smell nice. Give Salt a try.
- Allan (10/5): If you're fishing in Ilwaco stay here. - So close to my charter!! Great little pub attached, good prices, and great fries! Drippy shower in room 21
- Denise (6/5): Great spot. Easy and comfortable but missing a few things to make it 100% - Location- easy and clean. Nice bed and linens. Gas fireplace outside - had to provide my own propane. Had a hard time with shower - knives are worn and could not turn them easily. We need ice maker on site.
- Michael (7/5): -
- denise (6/5): Just Okay - Pros: Location on wharf next to a few fun stores. Restaurant on site. Lower price. Easy drive to Long Beach Peninsula.
Cons: small room, poorly appointed - no ice, no Kleenex, no hair conditioner, no closet, hooks on wall above microwave & coffee area so unable to use for clothing, restaurant closed 2 days per week and there is nothing in town, no one on sight - all digital, shower stall small and shower head unable to move so a short person could not easily rinse hair (nose right up against shower wall), no air conditioning for summer heat but that is typical for area (small fan included and we could keep window open because we were at the end).
- Jerry (9/5): -
- John (6/5): - Location
Price
- IGOR (7/5): -
- Vetter (10/5): Great time - Very friendly staff
Very clean room and facility
Very close to the boat dock able to walk to the boat Have no dislikes
- Taylor (10/5): - Love the local soap supplied in the bathroom!
That alone deserves 5 stars.
- Oleksandra (10/5): - A wonderful spot to recharge and unwind. Peaceful atmosphere, cozy rooms, and everything I needed to reset.
- Herbert (6/5): - We just needed to crash for the night.
- Ken (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (8/5): - Easy self check-in / out, staff very responsive to texts.
- Paige (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay. It is beautiful on the marina!
- Julie (7/5): Good -
- Stephen (9/5): Great cozy place to stay at the coast with our pup. - Always love staying at the Salt with our pup! Really enjoy the contact free check in / out while assistance is just a text away. The rooms are cozy with a tv, small microwave, and fridge. The shower is a bit small but the water pressure is outstanding.
The new private sauna (available by reservation) is a nice touch. There is also a supply room that has amenities, ice, and board games to borrow.
Itās beautiful walking around the harbor or there are lots of other places to explore just a short drive away.
There are not a lot of eateries in walking distance but they more than make up for it with the onsite restaurant. Weāve enjoyed many good meals there.
- Brenda (8/5): Cute little getaway - Wonderful little hotel. Only issue is water pressure. There is none. Lol
- Elizabeth (10/5): Make this Your Choice in Ilwahco - I loved the location, the views. The bed was very comfortable, the room was clean and inviting. I liked the offer of "pre-read" books. Deanne in the Pub was able to have the kitchen accommodate my request for one piece of fish and a delicious grilled salad salad. The market up the street is convenient and doesn't price gouge. The SALT hits every last mark for a perfect get away. Loved being able to take the bridge to Astoria, go through the city of Raymond on the Willapa. The refrigerator was very noisy.
- sally (10/5): - Comfortable, clean, convenient. Definitely hope to return
- Jeff (10/5): - Great little motel with a nice restaurant attached to the property that had a bar. French fries were the best!!
- Matthew (10/5): - Clean property and nice room. Staff was great. Did not like the shower, very low water pressure in shower and small shower stall. shower head was way to high. They should install hand held shower head so you can clean your entire body.
- Holly (9/5): Great place for a mini vacation - Comfortable, reasonably priced place to stay, well designed units, backs onto marina. Restaurant on premises, and another down street. Easy parking, free, across street. 15 minutes to outstanding state park. Ilwaco has interesting book store, yarn store, vibrant Sat. Mkt , huge antique store, galleries, and very interesting history museum. Small place but fun! 1/2 hr to Astoria with vibrant Sun. Mkt and plenty of places to see and eat. Trip up the Long Beach Peninsula makes for a great mini-vacation. Local bus avail in front of hotel! Nothing! It would be nice to have a functioning bakery in operation again or a place to have some breakfast foods right next to hotel though
- Hk1 (10/5): SALT, a PNW diamond in the rough - Not to sound like a Dos Equis beer ad, but I don't usually (in fact, hardly ever) give 5 stars all around for any business but when I do, it's because that business exceeded my expectations and then some.
From the convenient online registration and check-in process to the welcoming pre-arrival communication and Q&A with the staff, I already experienced a level of service rarely provided by 5 star, $$ hotels.
Upon arrival, I was immediately pleased by the unique decor, thoughtful touches and cleanliness both in and outside the property. Suffice to say, I had one of the most comfortable and relaxing stays in all of the places I've visited in the PNW.
The accommodations (including an awesome dry sauna, FREE with advance reservation) alone earn the SALT 4.9 stars in my book, but what really makes this hotel a 5-star gem is the incredible hospitality and hotelier mentality of the staff. All of my communication was via DM texts, but the prompt, informative and personalized responses I received each and every time felt like I had my own dedicated concierge, which is why I stated SALT exceeded my expectations and then some.
I'm so glad to have discovered this diamond in the rough (I say "rough" only because the charming town of Ilwaco is overshadowed by its more famous neighbors Long Beach, WA and Astoria, OR) and I'm proud to say the SALT will be my go-to spot whenever I feel the need to get out to coastal WA or OR.
Can't wait to book my next reservation! That this hotel is a 3+ hour drive away from the Seattle metro area, but it's worth it!
- Wyatt (7/5): Good - Location Very bright ceiling light, softer color lightbulb suggested!
- Joseph (10/5): - Very nice location. Comfortable and clean
- Sundi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patricia (10/5): - Super cute and quaint would do it again nice little rooms
- Yellow (9/5): Superb -
- Kimberly (10/5): - Very quiet area.
- Pennee (3/5): Not a comfortable place to stay. - Location. Staff The bed felt like you were sleeping on cement. The shower head was so high that unless you wanted to wash your hair you couldnāt get a good shower. No comfortable place to sit. We wonāt stay there again. Would not recommend.
- Elizabeth (4/5): Beautiful place to stay but disappointing accommodations - Great location, spectacular beauty, quiet on weekdays (before summer crowds). Comfortable bed, nice linens, clean. Real glasses, cups and spoons! Sweet complimentary locally made soap samples. Our room was not designed for comfort (except in comfy bed). Very cramped, furniture bulky, practically useless. One petite, sturdy, but hard chair; and a trendy?!? armchair with the shortest legs ever seen, at most 8" from floor to seat?!? For adults? And just as odd, we are to enjoy the amenity of a shower "pod" or "tube" too small to move more than 3" in any direction. Just forget about retrieving anything dropped. For adults? Not these oldsters. Guess it's time for "accessible" accommodations, like it or not. We wanted to love it, but....
- Alejandro (8/5): - This is the nicest hotel in town. If you are coming to Ilwaco, this is where you need to stay. However, it is not 5 stars, not even close. The on-site pub is very convenient and the food is excellent.
- Lurana (8/5): - The property was quiet and well maintained. It was perfect for a peaceful weekend get away. Iām happy with the price we paid as well. Two things could use some improvement. The mattress that we slept on was so hard and uncomfortable that neither my husband or myself got a full night of sleep. The showers were comically small and didnāt have a functional shelf to set hygiene products on, so we kept the shower door open in order to grab products as we needed them. It felt silly to not include something as simple as a shelf to make the showering experience better.
- Lien (3/5): Poor -
- Kira (8/5): Very good -
- Leigha (9/5): Superb - Restaurant on site, sauna for free!, dog friendly, on boardwalk, walk to cider company, clean room, comfy enough bed, good communication via text with staff, charming! We loved it. We are anted pub to be open later for drinks and earlier for breakfast.
- Barbara (10/5): - Fabulous little hotel, definitely worth a visit
- Jeannette (8/5): - Pub closed during our stay. No staff around. Nice place, we would come again. Information sent on how to check in our room, just passing through.
- Craige (8/5): - Hotel was a good value for the money. Nice character. Pub personal and receptionist were very pleasant.
- Kathleen (8/5): Great place to stay for the Pacific Northwest offshore races. Thank you for all of your support and making it extra spec - Location, comfortable beds, amenities, clean, nice together with others Wish there were more meals available
- Jill (10/5): The pros out weigh the cons of this simply comfortable place to rest our head! We hope to return! - Clean, we could get dinner right on property. Hubs walked to one of the nearby lighthouses! I would have preferred a downstairs, but managed. Iām short so the stair railings were difficult to negotiate. Shower was super small. Iām a bit fluffy!
- Andrew (10/5): - The Salt is anything but salty. This place was very nice, right beside the bay. There is a bar open Wed-Sunday till 7:30 because- well no MickeyDonalds in town which would have been nice if I stayed there other than Monday and Tuesday. The staff was VERY friendly and asked if I needed anything several times. The room was spacious and comfy, memory foam mattress, well lit and had extra chairs/seating. The bar soap was craft soap from a local soap maker and it was super nice. I liked it so much I requested a T-Shirt (available for purchase at the pub). Added plus-they give you āshop ragsā for washing the 300+ miles of motorcycle road grime off your pretty face (so you donāt ruin the good washcloths ya filthy animal)
- Choate (10/5): Exceptional -
- Debra (8/5): Cute, clean and comfortable - Loved it, would stay again. The bed was comfortable, Nice amenities. And it was very cute and clean. Make sure you shave your legs before your stayā¦. The shower is very tiny!
- Lluis (9/5): Superb -
- Lindgren (10/5): Recommended - Great location. Great restaurant with very good food. Comfortable beds very clean. Highly recommend.
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aurianna (10/5): - If youāre looking to get away from the noise of more popular busy costal tourist destinations, this is the place for you. Tucked away in Ilwaco right on the pier is the perfect affordable little stay. With an attached bar and restaurant it makes for all the things you need in one place. Clean room, clean bedding and respectful staff and guests made this trip 1000x better. Highly recommended.
- Alex (10/5): - Had a great time, will be back next time Iām staying in the Willapa Bay area
- Rachel (8/5): Very good -
- Liam (1/5): Went elsewhere - We decided not to stay because the pub was shut on Tuesday evenings and the additional bed we had requested was not provided before our arrival
- naomi (10/5): - We have a very small room with good light. Itās fresh, clean and decor minimal but on trend. I LOVE the down comforter! Cant believe this simple motel uses such high end bedding. I brought my own coffee for a pour over because motels usually do t offer good branded coffee but I didnāt need to. They provide an electric kettle for hot water which Iāve never seen before. Itās also refreshing to see solar panels on the roof. They also provide locally made soaps which is also mindful and environmentally conscious, no plastic bottles. We are just so impressed. We also had some of the best fish tacos outside of Mexico while looking at the harbor downstairs in the pub. My guess of the age of this motel build was late 60ās or 70ās when the builders failed to see the harbor as a desired view so the profile of the units are directed to the street rather than the river. Only 2 units face the harbor which next time we book will ask for those units. We love the outdoor communal spaces but itās still too cold to enjoy.
Overall, this is a gem that exceeds the cost value.
- Miranda (10/5): Exceptional - It was perfect for two. Clean and easy to locate.
- Kendall (10/5): - Very accommodating. Iād forgotten my dog bowls and they were kind enough to let me borrow some, they staff was also helpful and nice. If Iām back out there Iād stay there again.
- Tausha (10/5): Exceptional - The property was clean and the staff was attentive. Pub was delicious. Would stay again.
- Leslie (8/5): dockside overnight in Ilwaco - just overnighting on the road.
room didn't have glasses
otherwise clean but sparse
very quiet and good pub downstairs
- Wagner (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paper (10/5): Exceptional - It's was awesome! Comfy bed. Perfect decor. Very clean!
- Kristi (10/5): - Great little seaside resort. Very clean, comfortable and well maintained. I would definitely recommend this cute little resort.
- Adam (10/5): Great little place to stay at the coast - It was a cool place, clean, easy. I'd stay again.
- Therese (10/5): Will recommend to others. Was a wonderful, relaxing stay. - This was an easy place to stay at the coast. It was charming, quiet, clean, and all of the staff were very kind. I look forward to staying again! N/A
- Haylee (4/5): There are better options - The bed was comfortable. We specifically booked this hotel for the restaurant however after making sure it was open the night prior to booking it was closed which meant we had to go to long Beach for food.
There is minimal privacy on the ground floor as people are walking past constantly and for the first time ever we put the safety chain on seeing some of the people around the hotel.
My husband said the shower was OK the night before however when I had a shower the following morning there was no hot water.
