- Lal (9/5): -
- Paul (9/5): Comfortable, clean and great hosts. - The staff were so helpful and accommodating and assisted with provided details for onward travel. Also catered for wife's gluten free diet with no problem at all. The building is beautiful and very calming. We're able to get takeaway food and able to sit and eat in the garden area. Nothing.
- Leah (9/5): Fabulous hosts, beautiful breakfast. Very homey feel. -
- Jakub (9/5): -
- Mercer (10/5): - Beautiful rooms and communal spaces, you can really feel the attention to detail and thought behind the decorations and layout. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. We unexpectedly arrived very late at 00:15 and they still greeted us with a smile, tea and generosity. Breakfast is lovely and it feels so environmentally conscious, water and coffee grounds in glass containers and no plastic in sight. Incredibly good value for money I would definitely stay here if you have the chance.
- Gina (9/5): - Beautiful comfortable small boutique hotel with a home away from home feel. Yummy breakfast each day from Mohammed 😋
Great location walking distance to beach, great value for money, very comfortable bed No air conditioning in living areas so a little too hot upstairs to enjoy, no pool
- Alistair (10/5): -
- Sybille (8/5): Es war ein toller Start in Sri Lanka mit dieser ersten Übernachtung - Frühstück war sehr gut und liebevoll zubereitet Eine Innentoilette 😉
- Ian (10/5): Superb hotel and great value - A unique and wonderfully quirky place. Just feels lovely, lots of space, well furnished and decorated. Fantastic staff and great location for the beach Nothing
- Jzhonnie (10/5): Wonderful - We loved our stay at Mount Lodge. The architect, C. Anjalendran, studied under and apprenticed with the legendary Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa, and you can really see and feel those influences in the design and layout of the property.
The rooms are stylish and spotless, adding to the overall sense of comfort and quality. The staff were attentive and wonderful throughout our stay. Afternoon tea was a delightful addition, and breakfast was absolutely divine.
- Luke (9/5): A stylish and peaceful hotel. - A very stylish property - our room was great. The staff were very helpful and cheerful and the breakfast was delicious. The area is not very close to Colombo’s main attractions, however, tuk tuks are abundant and cheap.
- Stephen (8/5): Lovely and small boutique bed and breakfast - Very small boutique hotel but very comfortable, very clean and excellent breakfast. Close to Mt Lavinia hotel and we had lunch and dinner there in beautiful surroundings Unpromising entrance of door on the street, but opens up inside. Rooms integrated the open spaces vegetation and light were lovely, but meant care needed to keep mosquitos away
- Joselyn (9/5): Beautiful property, beautiful people - The staff were so friendly and attentive, the property is beautifully decorated and the room we had was spacious and clean. The breakfast provided is delicious and filling - string hoppers, fish curry, potato curry, pol sambol and more! Thank you for a lovely stay! The main door occasionally gets locked from the inside in the evening so our key didn’t work. You can ring the bell and someone will open, but we felt bad doing this when returning a bit later. The A/C in our room was set to a temp and we couldn’t change it - just switch on/ off. Would have liked the option for a slightly cooler temp at times.
- John (9/5): - Breakfast was plentiful and very good
- john (8/5): - Garden

- Gayle (10/5): Quirky, Historical with a story to tell. - The small quaintness of this historical Sri Lankan hotel was just charming. And totally appreciated the wonderful Manjo who greeted us at the car with his joyful cultural greeting and carried my suitcase up the stairs to the 3th floor. The Staff Piumali & Mohammad were very helpful and friendly. Making sure we were well taken care of. This building is an Our room consisted of the whole upper floor, sitting room w/a beautiful balcony. And private bedroom & bathroom. The antique decor added to the ambience. The Bed very comfy. Wifi does not work on lower floor but does work on 2nd and 3rd floor.
I so appreciated the kindness of the staff and being so warm and caring. So enjoyed going downstairs to the dinning table to see plates of fruit, press coffee, and hot homemade bread. A English breakfast was amazing.
A stay at Mount Lodge is an authentically good way to start a trip in Sri Lanka.
Benjamin, I cannot thank you enough for all your kindness and help also. Namaste' When you google map the hotel from CMB it does not give you the property distance. (We later found there is a regional airport in Lavinia that Google confuses w/CMB International in Colombo)We found out that Mount Lodge Boutique Hotel is actually over 1 hr away. The hotel set up a private transfer from CMB for an extra $44.usd. There is no restaurant or bar at the hotel but Uber & other food deliveries are just a few minutes away. We had an early transfer pickup to our next location so never had time to check out the neighborhood. I do miss not being able to do that.
- Georgette (9/5): Great host but probably wouldn’t return - Staff very welcoming and obliging We think there may have been bed bugs in our room.
- Amanda (10/5): We loved our short stay here. As soon as we arrived the staff looked after us. The rooms were lovely and clean and fresh - This property was outstanding. Beautiful staff, gorgeous facilities. Nothing
- Pauline (10/5): -
- Simon Rye (9/5): Nice and aestetic boutique hotel a little outside Colombo. - Kind staff, delicious breakfast, clean and nice room.
- Daphne (10/5): Heerlijk verblijf! - Wat een heerlijke accommodatie. Alles was goed: bed heerlijk, warme douche (wat echt een unicum is in Sri Lanka), lekker ontbijt en hele vriendelijke host. Zou het zo weer boeken! Niets
- Ooshani (8/5): Pleasant short stay in Mt. Lavinia - The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and they even made a packaged breakfast for me to take with me on my early trip out to the airport! The hotel was beautiful, room was clean and comfortable. Just a reminder (because I forgot this), you need to pay in cash and there is no fridge in the room. The attached bathroom is a bit outdated--toilet seat and shower area are clean but old and a bit stained. Although everything is thoroughly cleaned, it would be a bit nicer if attention was also paid to these details (and renewed). Dinner was quite expensive so I ate elsewhere (although I would have enjoyed the staff's cooking). Bring an eye mask as quite a bit of light enters the room through the two glass doors due to the hallway lights/daylight ( I was in the standard room).
- Klaus (8/5): Das was ich gesucht habe - Alles was ma braucht um Ruhe zu finden. Perfekter staff, sehr gute Ausstattung Da gibt es Nix zu meckern

- Kathrin (10/5): Best option in Mount Lavinia - Lovely, beautiful and very private. The personaI was so charming and helpful. We can absolutely recommend this hotel. There was nothing at all to complain.
- Sukant (10/5): Wonderful experience - Staff were wonderful and very accommodating, the place is very picturesque. Breakfasts were delicious on each day.
The location is great, only a few minutes walk from the beach, and not too far from central Colombo. We had a lovely time, we'll definitely come back.

- Siv (10/5): Beautiful place to stay, so calm and serene, with the warmth and kindness of srilanka - Kind and attentive staff, so helpful and friendly, they went over and above to help me, even walking me to the train station nearby as I was a lone woman traveller at 5am and making sure I got on the right train as I was a bit nervous. I really appreciated that. Spacious and Beautifully decorated great location for beach and railway station. I always prefer small hotels, but I did eat dinner at the large hotel very close by. Other Very local food places for all cuisines and budgets were available.

Amazing room with four poster bed and lots of room space, clean bathroom.
Staff were very friendly - Benjamin was very communicative on WhatsApp and Mohammad served us an amazing Sri Lankan breakfast ! Nothing

- Gailin (10/5): Amazing stay - Hospitality of Benjamin and Mohammed, going out of their way to make my stay comfortable. The best part was the wonderful and tasty Sri Lankan breakfast 😊
- Sylwia (7/5): Ogólnie polecam miejsce. Na noc lub dwie. Blisko do plaży. W miarę cicho jak na Colombo. - Wyjątkowo urządzone miejsce. W stylu kolonialnym. Plus za ekspres do kawy. Łazienka była poza pokojem. Śniadanie w stylu europejskim a nie lokalnym.

- Nina (10/5): A Hidden Gem in Colombo South - Rating: 10/10 – A Hidden Gem in Colombo South!
Mount Lodge Boutique Hotel was the final stop on our little round trip through Sri Lanka – and it turned out to be a real highlight. Tucked away behind a modest entrance, this place reveals itself as a beautifully designed boutique hotel with a unique charm.
The atmosphere is quiet, private, and welcoming. The interiors are thoughtfully designed with tasteful decor, elegant antique furniture, and a harmonious room layout that immediately makes you feel at home. It’s the perfect spot to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, relax, and recharge.
The staff were incredibly kind, attentive, and helpful throughout our stay. A fresh, local breakfast served at the large communal table in the open-air dining area was the perfect way to start the day.
Our room was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, air-conditioned, and very functional.
We will definitely return – Mount Lodge has become one of our favorite places to stay in Colombo and is a place we can wholeheartedly recommend!
- O'brien (7/5): Good -
- Stéphane (9/5): A nice stay in Colombo, Sri Lanka - Both staff members (Mohamed and Silva) were extremely kind and professional -- the owner (?), Benjamin was online and has been a great asset too. The place was very clean and nice; the furnitures and beds were really good too. Surroundings were "so so" like Japanese people would say, bath soaps could be improved, and -- my mistake -- it was not close to the airport, at all, since the international airport is actually far north of Colombo -- Google map mistake?
🤔.
- Zakar (9/5): Superb - Benjamin was very responsive when asking questions before the stay. Mohammed and the other workers were very nice and helpful. Room was clean and tidy. Railway station only 5 mins walk away and tuktuks always on the road in front of the hotel
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - Such a lovely place to stay - comfortable, beautiful and relaxing. Communication was great and the staff were helpful and welcoming. The breakfast cooked for us was outstanding. Thanks very much! Nothing
- Jan (10/5): Excellent Boutique Hotel - Loved the serene green courtyards , creative architecture location was excellent, service by Silva was exceptional. Nothing
- Debra (10/5): Absolutely charming boutique hotel with beautiful interior and exterior spaces in which to relax. - The building was absolutely delightful, a small boutique hotel with charming courtyard gardens and beautifully curated decor and artefacts. It provided a peaceful haven from which to explore the bustle of Colombo with a short walk to a beach, restaurants and transport.
The staff and owner, Ben, were especially helpful and accomodating with all aspects of our stay. From initial communication to bag drops and advise regarding the rail system. This care for their guests' wellbeing was particularly evident when I succumbed to a gastric problem. I am so very grateful for being given the opportunity to rest and recover, without fuss(aided by Silva's special lemon drink!) which allowed me to continue exploring beautiful Sri Lanka.
- Claire (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amanda (8/5): Charming Boutique Hotel - Great boutique hotel. Each room also has it's own separate indoor and outdoor sitting area. Breakfast was lovely. Staff very attentive. Love the decor and feel of the architecturally notable house.
Location is also very good. So close to everything within walking distance, town centre, beach and train station. Bonus there are some really good restaurants nearby. From our bathroom you could hear everything from downstairs and the kitchen area, due to the open plan of the hotel.
- Nesrine (10/5): Amazing place for a relax stay in Mount Lavinia - - the location
-the room and balcony+ common areas
-special mention to Silvia who’s an amazing host
- Stephen (7/5): Nice the staff are very friendly, slightly expensive in comparison to other places I’ve stayed - Very clean and well presented Although a private bathroom I had to leave my room into a public space to use it.
- Cecile (10/5): Perfect - Beautiful, unique place and very quiet.
- Bruno (10/5): Amazing - The style
- Sue (10/5): Calm family run oasis in a beautiful and welcoming town. - We loved the calm atmosphere and beautiful spaces in the property. Everyone made us feel very welcome and were incredibly helpful. It’s a fab little place to stay if you are near Colombo or heading away from the airport to move further south, as we were. Nothing at all.
- Jan (10/5): I highly recommend this hotel. - The cervice was incredibly helpful and friendly and the stuff whent above and beyond ensure every detail was perfect.
- Shant (10/5): Wish I could spend my entire trip to Sri Lanka here - -The staff are excellent, both Pathmi and Silva are helpful, kind, and do a wonderful job of hosting their guests
-The place is spotless and they make sure it stays that way
-They serve a wonderful breakfast of fruit, eggs, and toast every morning
-Benjamin (the manager) made himself available via whatsapp and was helpful in providing tips and accomodating special requests
-I loved the furnishings and the general vibe of the place. It feels like an oasis!
-Comfy bed, clean linens, clean bathroom. I am picky on hygiene
-Value for money is on point Nothing at all. I extended my stay by one night because I enjoyed it so much
- Aneta (10/5): Exceptional - I recently arranged accommodation for my manager’s business trip, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with the experience. From the moment I confirmed the booking, the owner was in constant contact with me, ensuring everything was perfectly organized. His level of professionalism, kindness, and willingness to assist exceeded all expectations.
What truly stood out was his dedication to providing outstanding service. When he found out that his usual taxi driver wasn’t available on the day of arrival, he personally went to the airport to pick up my manager. This level of care and commitment is rare to find and made all the difference in ensuring a smooth and stress-free experience.
Beyond the exceptional hospitality, the accommodation itself is in a fantastic location—just a few minutes walk from a beautiful beach, making it ideal for anyone who wants to enjoy both business and relaxation.
I highly recommend this accommodation not only for its comfort but especially for the incredible service provided by the owner. It’s rare to come across someone so genuinely dedicated to their guests’ comfort and convenience. A five-star experience in every way!
- Günther (10/5): Exceptional - Silva received us at 5am. He made wonderful Sri Lankan omelettes and string hoppers. He served us tea in the afternoon. We felt very much cared for. Benjamin and his wife were telling us where we could go in addition to our own program. It was a great place to be. If you want to be in buzzing Colombo every day, then you need to travel a bit. The Mount Lodge is a more quiet place. But for us it was just the best location.
- John (7/5): Stressful and disappointing. - Good location near beach. Very nicely set out inside. Staff super helpful but very little English, so some difficulties with requirements. Couldn’t find the entrance. Had to walk through a hotel to get to the beach.
Very little English understood and although breakfast was very nice, absolutely no choice.(wanted an orange juice- instead of local fruit for a change- 9 dollars!)
No fridge and small, overlooked patio. We paid top price ( same as good hotel in Colombo) but incomparable.
- Vera (10/5): Exceptional - The boutique hotel experience at this charming property with just three rooms is truly exceptional. The house itself is beautifully designed, radiating a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The staff, particularly Silva and Fatme, are incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that every guest feels welcomed and cared for throughout their stay. Owner Benjamin is also very engaged, always available via WhatsApp to assist with any needs or inquiries.
- Barry (10/5): Very helpful staff - Very quite and peaceful refuge from Colombo
- Disha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional -

- Colm (7/5): Good -
- Nicky (10/5): Was a little Oasis away from the hustle and bustle of Colombo. - Was a lovely place to stay and wished we were there longer but were travelling around Sri Lanka with family. Was a little Oasis away from the hustle and bustle of Colombo.
- Liberty (10/5): Incredibly relaxing - Mount lodge was wonderful. Everything was clean. The communal lounge area was so calming and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and Silva was very friendly and helpful
- Afroditi (10/5): Great place in Colombo, amazing standards in everything - Amazing Place, lovely decorated, such a great attention to details, very calm area close to the mount lavinia beach. We will go back at the end of our trip. The staff helped us a lot and they were so so kind. a great welcome to Sri Lanka
- Mathias (8/5): Very good - Intimate
- Kristof (10/5): A wonderful stay - It's a lovely place with an atmosphere, our room had wonderful bed, closed off balcony great for enjoying the air and a perfectly clean bathroom too. The breakfast was fulfilling and just delicious, fresh fruit and a sri-lankan omelette with toasted bread as well as tea and coffee.
- Nitya (10/5): Was the perfect place be in at the end of a lovely holiday. - Special care was taken by the hotel to make us the breakfast we wanted.
- Jacqueline (9/5): Excellent hotel - The layout. Each room has a sitting area also. Staff very attentive. Outside seating area also available for each room A screen for the standard room /toilet access
- Jeremy (9/5): Very good all round accommodation with good staffing. Breakfasts were excellent. - Breakfasts were very good with attached excellent service. Overall facility very good and comfortable. Modern and clean premises with boutique feel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Well located to explore area. Nothing.
- Lina (10/5): Perfect place to stay in Mount Lavinia - Everything is just perfect here. You dont feel like you are staying in a hotel, feels more like at some close relatives house.
Owner and the people who are working here Saliya and Silva are just perfect, the hospitality is just amazing😊
Breakfast are so tasty. All hotel is very cleal.
Wonderful thing is that if you are staying in deluxe room all the floor is yours with balcony and additional room.
On the top of that sea is so close🤟
Highly recommended.
- Nadia (9/5): Superb -
- Jean-marie (10/5): Enchanting spaces, culturally enticing location, but the staff add the ultimate grace to this space. - For our purposes, the hotel was well located. We could walk safely at night to a couple of good places to eat, including Spoons and Mt Lavinia Hotel which puts on a banquet of the most authentic SL foods we experienced in our albeit limited travels, as well as other cuisines, and high quality live entertainment. For trips into busier parts of Colombo, we had a tuk-tuk station just up the road and kept the same driver for the entirety of our stay. The hotel itself is one of those Tardis spaces, tiny and unprepossessing from the exterior, but opening up into spacious, cool, and attractively designed spaces with a touch of excitement and even romance to the numerous communal and private spaces on three levels. The manager mentioned that the design was based on Bawa Part 1, which confirmed the archetypal Sri Lankan architectural design approach loudly evident in the inner courtyard spaces towering to the open air from ground up, allowing diffused light throughout the interiors, and the smooth grey cement floors. We only regret we couldn't be there during a downpour just to experience the sensory impact of such spaces that blur the distinction between outside and in. The design also carefully rendered the bustle of the built infrastructure surrounding the hotel invisible, offering a feeling of sanctuary, a feeling supported by the careful tending of the staff. Saliya and Silva and another gentleman were available for us at any and all hours of the day and night, ever providing advice and information and taking care of our non-tourist needs, which were many as we were also keeping up our workload during our stay. The staff were the backbone of the hotel and the primary reason for our sense of home away from home and real friendships in Sri Lanka. We were somewhat surprised by the additional service charge on arrival necessitated by the overseas owner.
- Natasha (10/5): Exceptional - The property and staff were wonderful. We had a late flight and we were able to check in even though we arrived at the property at 2am. The area is quiet with a number of restaurants and it is close to the Mount Lavinia hotel and beach. We had the twin room, which was comfortable and had a small courtyard. The owner, Benjamin and Saliya working at the property were both great in the lead up to and during our stay. Nothing
- Sammie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lucy (10/5): Amazing accommodation - Beautiful accommodation and Saliya made us feel welcome and relaxed. Nothing everything was perfect and we will be returning.
- Ravindra (10/5): A hidden Eden! - Wonderful location, close to railway station and the bar and restaurant at the Mount Lavinia hotel. Staff absolutely lovely; owners equally so. Breakfast was marvellous, more than I could manage! Nothing
- Katy (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely couple running the property and cooking breakfast. Good AC and warm shower and in a nice quiet location. Walking distance to Mount Lavinia beach.
- Eduardo (9/5): Superb -
- Charlotte (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly, helpful, and comfortable. Beds we're amazing after a very long journey.
- Damian (9/5): Great base for exploring Colombo - Interesting architectural design with thoughtful, elegant interior.
Comfortable bedroom, plenty of space, good bathroom, excellent breakfast, charming couple looking after the property & guests.
- Joyce (10/5): Perfect way to end our trip in Sri Lanka - The property is as featured in the photos. They have a pair of caretakers who look after us well.
Location is quiet, and very near to Mt. Lavinia Hotel.
Don’t judged the place by the exterior of the building, it is an oasis in there.
The room is clean and nice, with air con and a ceiling fan. Mosquito net draped over the bed and the bathroom is also equipped with amenities + hot water.
We asked for omelettes and toast for our breakfast and it was done perfectly. Na
- Ione (10/5): I would absolutely stay here again. - My stay was spectacular. I stayed here for a week, then returned for another 1.5 weeks. Benjamin easily accommodated my last minute request for a much needed early check in, as well as my last min booking for the second stay. I had the room on the top floor. It was beautiful and exactly like the pics. The AC worked very well and I could control it. The bathroom was very clean and nice, which is really my only requirement for a residence. The bed was super comfy and I really appreciated that there was a proper duvet. I also really like that there was a good hair dryer and it even had the attachments! Padmini and Gamini were wonderful hosts, and made me a fantastic breakfast every morning. This hotel started to feel like home. It is a few min walking distance to a small and modern shopping complex which has a good grocery store, a pharmacy, a Subway, Baskin Robbins, and Popeyes. It is a few mins walk from Mount Lavinia hotel and the beaches. The road can get a little dark at night, but I felt safe. It was very easy to call an Uber and it was walking distance to the main road, where Hotel Rd meets Dehiwala. The wifi wasn't great in my room but Benjamin did what he could to fix it, which helped a bit and I very much appreciated. Other than that, everything was great. However, other travelers said the wifi in their rooms was great.
- Chloe (10/5): Exceptional - Mount Lodge Boutique is such a wonderful home from home. It was exactly what we were hoping for, and more. It oozes classic and classy Sri Lankan antique style. We felt incredibly welcome and looked after by Gamini and his wife, who have looked after the home for more than 20 years on behalf of the owners. They make you feel like family. They serve a delicious and beautifully presented breakfast in the morning. We just loved it here and was perfect for what we wanted. It is located in Dehiwela, around 20 mins ride into the heart of Colombo city. We would recommend without hesitation to anyone looking for a small, homely, peaceful place to stay. Thank you to owner Benjamin as well who assisted us with our stay and flexible when our plans needed to change unexpectedly.
- Sarah (10/5): Beautiful hotel with outstanding hospitality and fabulous breakfast. - Gorgeous little boutique hotel tucked away and so private. Easy walking distance to the beach, train station and to Galle road.
I love Mount Lavinia for being so close to Colombo to explore but much quieter and more peaceful.
The staff working there could not have been more helpful, they made us feel so welcome and were so accommodating. It’s a truly beautiful property.
The breakfast was superb. Having lived in Colombo many years ago it was so wonderful to be back, to reminisce and have wonderful egg hoppers again!
I’d highly recommend staying here if you want to escape the bustle of the city as you can easily jump in a tuk tuk and be in the centre in 30 mins yet can return to the peace and quiet.

- James (10/5): Clean, safe, close to beach - Delicious breakfast. We arrived very late at night after our flight and the hosts were up to greet us.
- Adam (10/5): Warm welcome - Very good warm welcome rooms and bathroom spotless
Nice breakfast Nothing
- Matthias (7/5): Misleading name for a bed and breakfast - When I refused to accept the standard room with external bathroom, I got a free upgrade to what you may call a suite, if you are generous. This is not a hotel. At best, you may call it a bed and breakfast. The worst part is that the only entrance to the house is locked with a traditional lock. In the case of a fire, unless you have the key on you, you are trapped.
The standard room's bathroom is only accessible via the hall, which is not acceptable for the price asked.
There are no facilities usually associated with a hotel.
- András (8/5): Very good -
- Ganatra (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful place to stay. The rooms are very clean and has a beautiful balcony too. Benjamin, the host, ensures everything is well taken care of before check in. Padmini and Gamini who live on property are very kind to cater to your needs. Plus points for a sweet cat and the sweetest dog they have on property.
- Nathan (9/5): Superb -
- Ian (10/5): A great place to start our visit to Sri Lanka - Superb breakfast cooked to order by Lovely staff. Very comfortable bed and a good location near restaurants, bar, and beach.
- Raelene (10/5): Exceptional - The place was beautiful and the couple who host the guest were so kind. They made us feel like family. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was amazing.
