- Bridgette (8/5): - It was a great location for the game on the MSU campus. The room temperature was great. You could feel the music from the dance club that was nearby (our room was on the third floor). We also parked in public parking overnight. I did enjoy the stay overall. Thank you!!
- Teresa (6/5): - The air conditioner unit is IN THE WALLyour head in is very LOUD You can hear the next door unit. The FLOORS creek every time someone walks. The Hotel in on the corner of downtown the POLICE ran all night. VERY VERY NOISY AREA. STAFF NICE VERY CLEAN.
- John (2/5): - Over priced, poor air conditioning, cramped room, uncomfortable bed, grout on shower tile is dirty and stained, parking availability is not good, I will say that they tried to get the air working better, but it never did cool off. There was smoking area outside our original room and they were good enough to move us to an inside room, for an additional charge, I do not recommend this place

Lobby area is lovely. “Cabana” King rooms are quite “dated “ and are accessible after crossing g through and up metal evacuation stairs to a balcony that o relooks the roof and rooftop equipment. Advertised “balcony” is a misnomer and is rather disappointing, These rooms should carry a significant discount.

- JENI (10/5): Needs pressure washing and updating - It was just a quick overnight stay. When we pulled up, I was very concerned, it was advertised as an updated hotel but the exterior is in dire need of pressure washing and paint. It was also a little cluttered looking with old plants and chairs. You could tell at one time it has been updated, but not in the past decade or so

- Donna (10/5): - Hotel Chester is right in the middle of downtown Starkville and walkable to downtown restaurants and the MSU campus. The rooms are dated, but clean and comfortable and were half the price of other options that were less convenient. The staff was friendly. I was not there during a busy time (middle of the week outside the school year), but there was amble parking by the hotel and no noise to speak of.

We stayed in a king Cabana room and it reminded me of my grandmas house. It was quaint. Bathroom tiny. The bed was comfy, nice towels and the room was clean. Would stay here again.

The staff was very considerate and responsive and the room was simple and elegant. We will definitely stay here again if back in Starkville.

- Robert (10/5): - We love the character of the Hotel Chester. The location is convenient, and parking was no problem on the street. We had a view of the main street. It was nice to be able to regulate the temperature. The bathroom, though tiny, was just fine. In-room coffee is fine, but it's weak if you follow the instructions. Breakfast is a "grab-and-go bag" that includes water, raisins, granola bar, and Rice Krispy treat, but there were also bagged pastries available. Our only complaint was that the mattress was hard, overly firm, so our backs hurt. Otherwise, we recommend Hotel Chester. Personnel are all friendly and helpful.

This historic hotel has been beautifully restored with replica period pieces without sacrificing modern convenience. The location downtown is convenient to restaurants and shopping within walking distance. We enjoyed it so much we stayed an extra day

- Kathy (10/5): - We live in Starkville and wanted a kid-free night out! Very clean, quiet and conveniently located to shops, restaurants, etc. There’s complimentary Keurig coffee 24/7 in lobby, and pastries provided in the morning. Great place to stay if you’re coming to Starkville.
- Amber (2/5): - We loved the idea of a historic hotel right in downtown Starkville, but this brings historic to a new level. This hotel has some polish in the lobby, but the rooms are very outdated, musty, with limited ac. The Cabana Rooms have exterior doors right next to exterior emergency stairs that lead off the property to the Main Street. We will not be returning to this property.

- Carol (6/5): OK choice, but overrate IMHO - The rooms are small and mine was 85 degrees when I checked in. They had just turned the air on. The "free parking" was on the street if you could find a spot; the "free breakfast" was vending machine pasteries. In my room, the toilet had to be flushed twice - sometimes three times. I was going to mention this at checkout, but there wasn't anyone at the front desk. This hotel had a 9 rating which is why I chose it. Definitely over-rated.

- Justin (8/5): Beautiful old hotel in the midst of everything - The location of the Chester cannot be beat, right downtown providing access to the heart of Starkville. While some of the facilities are worn, it is a clean and comfortable stay.

I arrived at 10 p.m., and the owner met me at the door, checked me in, helped with luggage, etc. Very pleasant. Rooms were cool and not humid. Great furnishings. Great mattress. Comfortable sleep. Lots of hot water for my shower. Nice continental breakfast (included in the price). Easy checkout. Would recommend it highly!

- Terry (8/5): - It is a beautiful historic hotel. Because of this, the bathroom was extremely small and the air conditioning was not great. When it was on, it was cold. When it shut off, it was hot. But it isn't "central" air conditioning like most of us are used to. Although the bed itself was comfortable, the bedding was not. The material the sheets were made of was just too warm feeling. Between the air temp when the air conditioner shut off and the "warm" sheets, we did not sleep well at all.

- steve (10/5): Starkville’s charming stay well done - A well maintained older hotel that has retained its character with excellent staff. The perfect location with good food and shopping just around the corner. Quiet, comfortable and a warm welcome throughout our stay.

- Maggie (6/5): - We booked a veranda room. The staff was very polite and nice. The room was extremely outdated with stained carpet, dusty chairs, and a light that sometimes worked in the bathroom. It was very loud due to being on the "veranda" which really just meant it was on the walkway to the roof with all the air conditioner systems. The fridge had long hair in it and some leftover Miller Lites. The air conditioner in the room was very loud also. No curtains were provided in the room, only plantation blinds. We felt very exposed to people walking by as a result. The bed was soft which is probably good for some people. We had to park on the road and carry our luggage to the hotel. The door did not have handicap access so holding the door open and dragging luggage in simultaneously was cumbersome. Also carrying the luggage up the stairs from the elevator to the veranda entrance was less than ideal. I thought the hotel was no pet, no smoking, but there was an ash tray on the table right outside of our room on the "veranda", and the owner had his dog inside the hotel and outside at times. When it was inside, it growled at us which was disconcerting. We would stay here again if needed, but it would not be our first choice.
- Irene (8/5): Ok but not again - It seemed over rated. The old building charm is always a delight to us. But the carpet was old and not inviting. The bathroom was clean but do very small. The sheets had been laundered but were spotted. 😕 We happened to hit a parking spot right in front but the back seemed a little hard to operate to and from. Packaged muffins for breakfast. All prices were up but it seemed overpriced to us. Wouldn’t stay again.

- Jack (8/5): Right downtown - Convenient location downtown in an old-fashioned hotel with decades-old furnishings. The room itself was nice but no housekeeping during our stay and close to loud college party bars.
- David (10/5): - The hotel was awesome for it's age. We stayed in room 301 and it room was very comfortable along with the bed. The only negative was it seemedlike the shower leaked on the floor really bad and the mat got soaked.
