Guest Reviews
- Lynda (10/5): - Always a pleasure to stay here. Great location, comfortable, full amenities, wonderful hosts.
- Theresa (10/5): - Great room. Friendly host. Clean.
- Gloria (10/5): - Comfy robes, charming accommodations!
- Tamara (8/5): - The room was very clean but the furniture was old and worn, there wasn't a handle on the refrigerator door.
READ THE FINE PRINT THE STAIRS WERE GRUELING
- Brianna (10/5): Great building and location, friendly owners! - Awesome room for the price, the owner Paul is super nice. We ended up staying an extra day because of the weather and couldn't have been happier with the condition and location of the property.
- Daryl Z (10/5): - Very nice folks, very accommodating.
- Catherine (8/5): - After a 5 mile hike where we ended up soaked from rain and sleet, the hot soaking pools were fantastic
- George (10/5): - Great as always. We have stayed there for 3 straight years and plan to come back again next year.
- Lynda (10/5): Great place to stay - Perfect location in downtown Silverton. It's comfortable, with a well stocked kitchen, nice beds and a comfy sitting area. I've stayed here a couple times and it's always a great stay. The owner has always been helpful and super nice.
- Ellen (10/5): - Really nice place. Very clean, large suite. Great owners. Only minor issue...for us....is it is not handicapped accessible...but we made the stair climb several times. Hope ti retur n
- Ian (10/5): - Great room. Check in is in the restaurant.
- Jessica (10/5): - The property is beautiful, old-style, cozy, and nice. The pool area is beautiful and comfortable.
- Rudy (8/5): - A very nice place and in the center of town. The rooms are clean and species, but on the second floor, without an elevator, and the stairs are steep. Don't forget that you are at 9800 ft elevation. Other than the stairs, an Aplus.
- Monica (6/5): - I’ve stayed here a couple times, but this time it was just too
- Matt (4/5): Disgusting and worn down - Smedley’s was run down and unclean. The photos during booking alerted us to it being dated but it was worse than expected.
Everything was covered in dust and the windows were propped open with pieces of wood. Many items were broken (stove knobs, drawer knobs, bathroom door latch). The couch was completely worn out and mildew in the shower.
Check-in and out are at the restaurant downstairs… but they completely shut down on Mondays. We would never return to this property. I guess this is a good example of you get what you pay for.
- Tamara (8/5): - This property is right in Downtown Silverton. The owners are super nice and helpful.
If you have trouble with stairs, I do not recommend this property. Some stairs are vintage, which run a little steep.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Our stay at Smedley’s was great. The room was large and very clean, and everything you need is in walking distance.
- Holly (8/5): - Apt Suite in the dead center of Silverton. Felt like the real wide west.
- Rocklyn (10/5): - Property Management was excellent!
- Cliff (6/5): - It was fine, and it was clearly described. It’s obviously just an oder property that could use some upgrades in the kitchen, bathroom, and flooring. Then, though, I'm sure they would need to charge more. So, for the price, at a busy time of year, we were pleased to get this room for the price. Love Silverton! Not many places to stay there, so can't be too picky.
- william (10/5): - Friendly people. Old school hotel in a small town. Great vibe.
- Sarah (8/5): - Nice stay for 1 nite
- Amanda (10/5): Great spot! - Awesome spot, Paul the owner was great. And the soaking pools were amazing! Highly recommend!
- linda (10/5): All good - All was good. The shower floor felt like it was going to cave in LOL but everything else was great. These soaking pools were really nice
- Weidong (10/5): - very good, like the home.
- Kade (8/5): Grandma's - We got into town after check-in so we messaged the host and they told us how to get in so that was easy. The property was clean when we arrived.
This is a very old, outdated place to stay with old grandma beds so not that comfortable. If you want a nostalgic feel of grandma's house, this is the one! If you prefer something a bit more comfortable, your options are limited.
With that said, host was great in accommodating our late check in and made that easy. No AC (but when we stayed, just opened the windows and it cooled down).
We (possibly mistakenly) thought this one was remodeled but I believe that is only the Suite.
The master bedroom has a window that can't be closed to the room with the three other beds so, if the couple in there snores, there's no way not to hear them all night.
Everything was clean and there were towels on each bed ready to go though!
- Steven (8/5): - The room was complete with a kitchen and sitting area included. The bathroom was clean but the stairs leading to the room were steep and not well cleaned. This is a dusty town but quintessentially western!
- Robert (8/5): - Nice location, room was a little old, light for kitchen didn't work, freezer was a bit untidy. Room could just use a bit of an update.
- Laura (10/5): - We enjoyed the Shangrila hot spring tubs and the quaint atmosphere of the property.
- George (10/5): - It was another perfect stay with a gracious host.
- Ken (10/5): - A pleasantly quaint stay at a classic old style mining town hotel. Very nice condition, and all furnishings were period correct,,, and INTERESTING.
We enjoyed our stay,,,, and would be happy to stay there again.
- Bart (10/5): - Great place to stay. I cook when on the road so full kitchen was great. Excellent hose communication.
- Cortina (10/5): - I thought it was perfect for our needs. Although the hot tub was offered we ended up babysitting grands and didnt take that lovely offer. The buildings in Silverton are all older and dirt roads cause a lot of dust. AC is not common is this area, so dust may bebin the room. The floor fan provided and open windows were enough for us. The bed was comfortable the bathroom is renovated and very nice. The kitchen is all older but has all the essential elements. Smart TV. We had a queen bed and a spare twin. If it were my place I'd up grade the sofa maybe tontwo recliners. They had board games and are over a lovely ice creamery. Not handicap accessible and the steps to get tonthe room are original to the building. Very step. I would stay here again and ive done every thing from rough camping to 5 star resorts.
- Marisela (6/5): Ok stay - The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was not clean. It was very dusty. Didn’t use the kitchen but it appeared dirty and old. Only needed the room to sleep so didn’t make use of anything other than the bed and bathroom. The spa pools were nice.
- Robert (10/5): - Interesting town and the hotel fits right in
- David (8/5): - Apartment rooms are up a long staircase. It was rough for us older folk daily. Otherwise was a great place to stage for 4 wheeling adventures. No on site parking.
- Kent (8/5): - Loved the quietness of the rooms and the soaking tubs on site are very nice.
- Yvonne (8/5): - Unique, nostalgic, could definitely use a really good cleaning. Carpet is old and dirty, lots of dust. Not the easiest checkin. The location is fun.
- Johnathan (2/5): - This place is very dated and the beds were very uncomfortable would never stay here again also hidden charges
- Robin (10/5): Spacious easy access - We enjoyed our stay here. It was very large room with all the amenities that you need except we did not know it did not have air conditioning, but come to find out we didn’t need it. It does have a fan in the window. It gets pretty cold at night, the bags were pretty comfortable. One of the twin beds was a little soft but the other beds were great. The owner is extremely nice and helpful. I would stay here again.
- Crisilda (10/5): - Very comfortable!
- Virgil (10/5): - Great place with great location
- LeAnn (10/5): - The suite was large, quiet and had everything we needed for a ski hop. I imagine in summer it may be a bit louder as it is on a main street. Loved the hot pools for relaxing after a hard day on the mountain!
- Scott (10/5): - Very cute location. Small, and that works here
- Beth (10/5): Very Happy! - We had a wonderful stay. It was clean, comfortable cozy and we definitely relax. Paul the owner is a wonderful friendly guy. I would recommend them.
- brian (8/5): - right in town on the main street and easy access to shops and eatery
- Monica (10/5): - Rustic vibe in a cool town. Stayed in Anvil room. Lots of space. Clean. Friendly owner with good communication. Visited mid September so had no trouble with temperature. Kept a window cracked in the evening. Might be warmer during other summer months. Really loved the apartment, though. One of my favorite stays in Colorado.
- Brenda (10/5): - This was such a gem as they have 3 mineral soaking pools below the suites. Owner was so friendly and it was such a personal stay. The suites are old but it is clean. We loved the old charm feel of it and staying in an old mining town. It was perfect for us!
- ANN (10/5): - Very comfortable and relaxing.
- Mary Colleen (10/5): - Perfect place for our Silverton getaway!!!
Paul is amazing and does an incredible job running all his businesses!! Location is perfect and the soaking pools were nice for our sore hiking muscles!!!
- Matt (10/5): - Very friendly service, great location
- Gerald (8/5): - Older building but some updated features
- Adam (10/5): We will be back - Our stay was very pleasant and comfortable.
- George (10/5): Cozy and comfortable -
- Karen (10/5): - Our family truly enjoyed our overnight stay. Very comfortable and quaint. More like a home than hotel. We arrived very late but Paul accommodated with no problem. Check out was quick and easy. We got so much bang for our buck. We all agreed this will be our place when we return.
- Patricia (10/5): - We loved our stay at Smedley’s! Paul was helpful and we had everything we needed. It was right on the Main Street, within walking distance of the Coffee Bear and great restaurants.
- Ryan (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay. Right in the heart of town. We didn’t have the opportunity to experience the mineral tubs due to our tight schedule but it is a nice perk if you have time.
- Carolyn (10/5): - We really liked that the suite was right downtown in Silverton near restaurants and shops. The sleeping arrangement suited what we needed perfectly, there's handy kitchen and seating area available, and our host was wonderful about communication. If we find our way back to Silverton, I would stay there again!
- Lynda (8/5): - Arrived late and was assisted as needed, in town and close to all the action. Enjoyed the hot pools!
- Tim (10/5): Somewhat hidden gem - A great find…a very large yet somewhat dated suite which is reasonably priced when comparing alternatives…right in the center of town. Would stay there again.
- Daniel (10/5): Top Notch! - Our stay was fantastic! Paul is a great person to deal with. His customer service and communication with us was great. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone!
- Rostislav (10/5): Great - Great stay, clean, warm and well equipped.
- Eduardo (8/5): - Well located and very friendly staff.
- Thomas (10/5): - Cool place, had everything we needed, comfy beds. Would stay again.
- John (10/5): - Older place but everything was comfortable and clean
- john (8/5): Off roading Mecca - Manager was awesome. Anything you need. Dips in his amazing mineral spa are included with stay. Place is dated and not cleaned well. Bed old and loud. But for an off roading haven, it was roomy and nice place to unwind.
- Shawn (10/5): - It had lots of room. Little pricey. Should let us know that we check in, in the ice cream shop and that you cant check in early. Nice to have appliances but could be updated. The place was nice and moderen other wise. We couldnt get windows to close but it didnt get cold in there.
- Johnny (10/5): Johnny. - Very friendly!!! Loved the soaking pools. Great place to hang out.
- Chris (10/5): Amazing place to stay! - Amazing place to stay right on the main drag in Silverton. Walking distance to all the restaurants and shops. Just walk downstairs for some awesome coffee, ice cream, an a soak in the hot soaking pools at the Shangri-La! Definitely visit again!
- Cornelia V. (10/5): - Loved the place. Our rooms were suites, which was great. The beds were great. It's a classy place. Loved the old decor.
- Kelly (10/5): A Gem! - We loved our stay! Room was cute vintage! Stairs to it aren’t for sissies! A little steep. The soaking pools were amazing! Location was great! Definitely would stay again!
- Lou (10/5): - This property is a 1 bedroom apartment on the top floor of a business property. There were two other apartments on the floor. Our apartment was roomy and comfortable, and was a great immersion to the local atmosphere. There is a great coffee shop right across the street which was nice.
- Rachel (10/5): - This was such a great little place, we couldn't think of a better place to stay in this beautiful little town!
- Sharron (10/5): - Great accommodation.
Full kitchen. Would like to have seen coffee available in the kitchen
- Corbett (10/5): - Embrace the uniqueness of Smedleys, its like an old timey room above a western saloon type feel, but obviously with modern amenities. If you cant climb stairs to bad, only way up. Proprietor was very friendly , called to make sure when we arrived, put extra towels on our beds and since we arrived later made easy arrangments to get in. At night it is VERY dark in the room so you may want to bring a small night light
- Timothy (10/5): - awesome place and surroundings
- Jason (10/5): - Great place. The hot pools we’re perfect. The owner was very nice. Older appliances and furniture but everything was clean, perfect for what we needed.
- Joseph (10/5): - Great accommodation for trips to Silverton mountain. Short ride to the hill, easily sleeps 5-6 and the kitchen is great to have. The Shangri-la soaking tubs are a cool amenity that was included.
- Roberta (10/5): - Rooms were spacious
Well equipped with extras
Great location
Pools are awesome!
- Christopher (8/5): Nice big place - It was a nice place, but need another mirror out of the bathroom.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The steps up are steep n need lighting.
All furnishings are in need of replacement.
If you use weather as a/c put screens on your windows
Provide coffee for morning
- Jessica (10/5): - All around great trip! The property owner was friendly and so helpful! The room had more amenities that we expected with a full kitchen and a stock of board games in the cupboard. The soaking pool was a lot of fun tool!
- Kelly (8/5): August stay, 1 night last minute - No AC. Very roomy! Steep stairs to get up to the apartment. Nighttime with fans awesome. Heat of day in AUGUST, couldn't have stood it bc of our hot naturedness. Safe (even late at night) and neat-get the old west vibe for sure. Sweet, sweet owners! Right in the middle of Silverton.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - was like being at home. Very roomy, clean, comfortable, and all the amenities of home. The most impressive for us was we had a full kitchen, so if we wanted we could fix our own meals and eat inside. We had a group of almost 40 people, and no one else had half the amenities we had. besides the wonderful hot pools!! Loved it !!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I liked the feeling of being in an old hotel from the past. The soak tubs downstairs were relaxing. Make sure you don’t mind climbing upstairs. The only ways to the room. We only stayed one night so we didn’t need the kitchen but is nice if you stay longer.
- Gary (8/5): - Rooms were spacious and adequate. A second mirror would have been helpful. Hard to tell what dishes were
clean and which were dirty. Diid all before using.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The Smedley is a hidden treasure! Great value, loved the soaking tubs, access to downtown, more room than we needed and yet just right.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The suotes were everything we expected. It was right in the moddle of town so made everything easy to walk to
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Was unable to really appreciate or spend time at property due to a power outage. We had to make alternate arrangements in Durango as we were not contacted regarding the outage prior to arrival.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The suite was super cute with a great view. It was very quiet, even the town. The only complaint I would have was that the bed was very creaky and shook during the night when you moved. So if that bothers you, better to make a pallet on the floor. Everything else was great. Paul was super nice and easily reachable. The soaking tubs were a nice add to relax at the end of the day.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This was a very adequate suite in a historic building, and the location was excellent. The only concern was the rather dated kitchen. The bathroom has recently been updated, the beds and couch are modern, the TV is quite new, however the kitchen (particularly the 1970s era range) needs to be updated next.
- Joe (10/5): - Best spot in silverton. Location and facilities were just what we needee
- Astrid (10/5): - Cute vintage hotel, love! The host was very nice too
- Astrid (10/5): - Very cute vintage hotel, spacious too. The host was very nice!
- John (8/5): - This is a quaint, rustic feel of days gone by! We loved it!
- Amanda (10/5): - Very cute and convenient place. I loved the old feel to apartment. It gave a real sense of being in Silverton. The soaking pools are lovely as well. I would stay here again.
