• Todd (8/5): In the Valley of Giants - I’ve been staying at the Cardinal each year these last 5 or 6 years always because it is a small well run Inn with helpful hosts. It is a serene place to be when the need is to relax after a days business or vacation affairs.

• Joseph (10/5): This mom & pop motel is an exceptional find! - This place is a gem and we will certainly stay there in the future. When we arrived the room was warm and there was a bucket of ice in the mini-fridge. This is not a large chain location. Many small touches from rolled towels to hand soaps, to a small rubber ducky on the bathroom towel set make this a comfortable place. I was able to park my my truck up right in front of the room door. I was unsure of our stay since the price point was excellent. I can see now that this establishment likely makes good money on tips. The only review deficiency I made was in comfort by one star due to the mattresses being softer than I like. That is a minimal thing that some would differ in opinion. The overall stay was excellent and superior to the $400/night resort down the street.

At not fault of the motel he was very aggressive over our two children being excited and playing in the room. The incident happened between 3:00 pm and 5:30 pm when we left. I did do everything I could to keep them calm and didn’t feel that the noise level would disturb anyone. He felt otherwise! The motel staff defused the situation and was very professional! We will definitely return

• Tina (10/5): Great for a get away - This place had charming details like old doors for headboards, an area rug and even a duck on the bat tub. The kitchen wad fully equipped to cook. The owners were just a text away and very responsive. The room was quiet w black out curtains so ypu could sleep in. Lights all over the yard made it look like a garden party. Cute planters w flowers and goats on the hill. This was a solo trip w my dog. I felt totally safe and secure. Well cared for. Do not miss a chance to stay here

The complementary coffee, hot cocoa and popcorn in the room were a wonderful addition. The convenience of parking directly outside your room was an added bonus.

• Shelby (4/5): Stressful from management cozy rooms - Nice cozy place to stay lovely cozy beds, in the suite room I had it had a small kitchen,couch , dining table, wardrobe, 2 beds, full bathroom ,heating light in the bathroom, When I arrived in my room the trash from previous people was still in the trash can in the room, it’s was a stressful check in , the management or owners were never around from what it seemed, they put a key card to your room under ashtrays if you check in online ,there property emergency line does not work , I was unable to get my room key until about 10 am , the management/owners do not communicate with each other and will have one side telling you one thing and the other telling oh no that was never a deal or you can not do that , if you make a negative review they will contact you and passively make the issue your fault and over all the room and building and area was fine but the management/ ownership , and the way they handle business was very very sketchy

• Sandy (9/5): Great motel for families or couples. - We loved the Cardinal Inn and would stay again. Online check-in was a breeze and the rooms were clean and welcoming when we arrived. They have a beautiful gathering area outside with a fire pit and lots of comfortable seating. The mattresses seemed new, but they were a bit firm for my taste. But, I understand it would be very difficult to please everyone as sleeping comfort is in the eye of the beholder.

• Diane (10/5): This was one of the most relaxing experiences we’ve had in Maggie Valley! Thank you Cardinal Inn!! - I love this little piece of heaven! There’s only a few rooms so it never felt crowded. The rooms are super clean. The shower is huge and a walk in, you normally don’t get that in a small motel. There’s an amazing outdoor space under some beautiful shade trees with picnic tables, hammocks and a fire ring. The view of the mountains just outside your door is incredible!! The owners are so friendly and welcoming, and go above and beyond to make sure your stay is peaceful and comfortable. I highly, highly recommend!! There is no con staying here, it’s amazing!!

• Leslie (4/5): Not the same - We have been here multiple times and this trip will be our last. Since the pandemic has happened they have completely cut out any form of greeting to their guests. Where is the personalization anymore? You don’t even see anyone. It’s sad to see that this is the way this place is going.

• Joshua (8/5): Very good - You can tell the owners really care about this property and their guests. While it is clearly a motel, they try their best to make it feel like home. Towels were good quality, like you might have at home, not typical motel quality. Tiling in the bathroom was modern. Hot cocoa and popcorn was a nice touch. Overall, very comfortable. The bathroom is a bit small, so you have to kind of slide in. This is no fault of the property, but the other reviews made it sound like the owners would give us a grand welcome and light up the fire pit for guests. Not sure if this is the case generally or if it wasn't for us because the owners were away, but that was a bit disappointing as it was the main reason we decided to stay here on New Year's Eve.

• Cheri (10/5): Great Stay in Maggie Valley! - The location was beautiful. They have a nice little yard with tables, chairs, and a fire pit. The room was clean and spacious. The bed was very comfortable. It’s right off the main road in Maggie Valley, but I didn’t notice any road noise in the room. We had our two dogs with us, so we appreciated the yard and dog-friendly accommodations. We’ll definitely stay here again.

This place is nice. Super clean, spacious rooms, comfortable beds, nice decor and the best water pressure of any place I've ever stayed. The little extras make this place a gem. Engraved cups for you to purchase.. The Christmas decor was perfect. Loved the night light bubble ornament. Abundant supply of pillows. The location is close to shopping and eating establishments. Walking distance to most. I will be back. The heater was a little noisy
