• Kim (6/5): Basic room, only hotel in town - Proprietor very helpful and professional! Room was clean with furniture like stepping back to the 80s. Good setup. No soap or cups provided. Screens on windows missing - would have been nice to open the windows.

Push button code to get into #7. Room not bad but did not feel comfortable staying there. Who all knew the 4 digit code to get into room? We got out of there and we were out our $107.00.

• Verified traveler (4/5): We really wanted to love it - I’m not giving it a 1 star review because of the time I reserved it until the time we got there and the owner was nice.We originally rented a hotel in Washburn but we got to the hotel and they said they were full despite us already making reservations and paying. We were so glad we were able to find a place in underwood! When you rent a room with this place you have to call someone to get the code for the door which was just fine with us. No complaint’s at this point because we just needed a room. The converted apartment to hotel room was 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. It was nice to have so much space! I’m someone who doesn’t care how nice a hotel is as long as it’s clean. I called the owner or manager and he was a very nice guy and that’s why I hate to leave this comment. Plus, place has so much potential! My only complaint other than the comfort of the beds was the state of the place. Someone had used the bathroom and didn’t flush. The sinks and showers were so filthy, we refused to take showers. From the state of everything else we thought we better go buy blankets to put over the bedding just in case the bedding hadn’t been washed. I can’t say if the sheets were clean or not because I honestly didn’t look. In my honest opinion, it just looked like the house keepers missed it completely but the beds were made so I just don’t know. If it would have been cleaned it would have been a decent place to stay. So much potential but find a new house keeper!

Contacted the property manager and he said it was hotels.com fault. Cleaning people still cleaning room when we arrived at 5:30 pm. Hallway into the room was filthy, room door had a gap so big you could see into room. Hallway lights were out, bathroom lights were out. No outlet in the bathroom. Really no ammenities. Hairs on the pillows, bloody tp in the toilet. The overall condition was pretty awful. NOTHING like the pictures. There is no management on the property. The 2 good things- the bed was comfortable, it had hot water. But i feel like i need to disinfect everything rhat was in the room now.

• mike a (4/5): - Rented a 3 bedroom for our trip. When we arrived the third bedroom had the bed dismantled and stacked up in a corner as the room was under construction. So with no staff on site and no other rooms available we started looking for bedding for the couch. There were no extra blankets or pillows anywhere. Overall the room was kind of cleanish but so worn down it’s hard to tell but the building is filthy.
• Susan (8/5): - The room was clean and spacious. It was an older motel. It meant our needs but the only thing I can say that I really didn't like was the bed. The mattress was just terrible. There was a recliner in the room and I slept in the recliner while my husband slept on the bed.
• Verified traveler (2/5): Don’t make the mistake! - Regrettably, the state of this facility leaves much to be desired. As soon as you step foot inside, prepare yourself for a rather offensive odor that could easily be described as repulsive. But that's only the beginning. Room #4 presents you with a dilemma on what to be disturbed by first. Is it the overpowering stench of ages-old filth and uncleanliness, or the gloomy ambiance that practically oozes impending doom? Now, let's talk about the so-called "premium bedding" that would be more suitable for a convict than a guest. The pillows are so disappointingly flat that we practically forgot they were even there. And don't get me started on the carpet; it's a veritable art gallery of stains that could have been overlooked had it been given the courtesy of a vacuuming at least once this millennium. But wait, there's more! The coffee pot, oh, the coffee pot. It's generously coated in a layer of grease that surely doesn't inspire confidence in its cleanliness. And after witnessing the disheartening sight of brown water flowing from the kitchen faucet, we knew better than to even consider using it. As for the cookware, utensils, and cups, they were a downright health hazard. The condition of this place was so profoundly abysmal that we made the bold decision to cut our stay short. One more minute in those dismal surroundings was simply inconceivable.

• Verified traveler (2/5): Avoid. No decent place to stay in Underwood - This is evidently an apartment building now used as long-term housing, perhaps for oil field workers. We arrived at 6:30 p.m. No one answered when we knocked on the apt. marked "Office" in order to check in. We then telephoned, but voicemail box was full. We explained our plight to one of the long term residents, who said manager also owned farm supply company across the street, and that he might be there. He wasn't, but woman had come in after hours to help an emergency customer. She tried to reach manager by phone and located him. Told us to wait outside while she drove to pick him up. It became cold, dark, and windy and threatening rain while we stood outside waiting. After 20 minutes we gave up. The next morning we got a phone message giving us the combination to get into Room 2. Another such message the next night--all a day after our reservation. This appears to be a flophouse, poorly managed. My suggestion is to avoid it like the plague.
• Emily (2/5): - This place is a DUMP. It’s not even a legitimate hotel. It’s someone booking out an efficiency apartment like a hotel room, when there aren’t tenants. If that’s the case then it should be considered an airb&b but even then this would not meet those standards. Of course, I asked for a refund because I IMMEDIATELY left. However, there is no formal check in desk and no formal management. Literally NO contact info for this place but the persons personal cell number who “books” you. Expedia needed to be able to contact the “hotel” to request a refund, you think the guy answered? Lol. No refund for me because awww poor Expedia couldn’t get a hold of this fake hotel. Jeeeeee I wonder why ? This place is a sham without a doubt and I cannot believe Expedia partners with them. Judging by the photos Expedia provided, you can see it use to be an Inn, well kept and probably professionally managed. Not anymore. I also will not be using Expedia ever again. I trusted them. Huuuuge let down. This place hands down is for someone to stay so they can A do drugs, B spend the night with a prostitute C sex traffic people of D all of the above. I have never been to a more sketchy place. I felt super unsafe. Thanks Expedia!

Place was not cleaned and looked like the tenants had just stepped out… all beds unmade, dirty clothes in all showers, food in bathroom garbage

• Louis (8/5): - This is a converted apartment building, so expect it to be more like an Airbnb than a hotel/motel. Each unit is going to be different (furniture, kitchen equipment, bedding) so I can only comment on the unit we got. There was a fully furnished kitchen with every device I have in my own kitchen, and utensils. There was a full personal laundry room. Full sized fridge and oven, toaster, blender, coffee maker, microwave, etc. The living room had a very nice lazy boy sectional and recliner, but I doubt the same quality furniture will be in every unit. The three rooms had multiple dressers (all of different ages and qualities) and closets. There was 1.5 baths in my unit, and they were clean and fine. I slept on two beds and they were both comfy. My son slept on the sectional and he was very happy with that. The unit worked perfectly for my large family and pet, but these units are definitely more akin to long term stay than your typical overnight hotel stay. If you are looking for luxury or a sanitary hotel chain experience, you are going to be unpleasantly surprised. If you want a cheap and efficient Airbnb type experience, this will work well, especially for large families.

• MarshallK93 (10/5): Marcellino - Have stayed here a few times and staff have always been helpful and friendly and the rooms clean. We usually reserve the 3 bedroom unit for 2 weeks as it has a kitchen and suits our needs perfectly. The place fills up quickly as there are only 10 rooms, but I was able to call them directly to get the 3 bedroom unit, plus I got a discount by passing on daily housekeeping. If you happen to be in area for a while I would recommend this well maintained inn.

Old, run down and has seen it's best days about 25 years ago....Then there was the Balkan Oil boom. Now this is what's left after the boom. Tear it down.

• rlmercado (10/5): Great small town hotel - I stayed at the Dakota Rose Inn for a birthday party that was going on at the bar, which is only walking distance from the hotel which I believe is a very ideal location so that people are not drinking and driving. When we got to the hotel, the rooms and bathrooms were very well kept and the furniture was very nice (better than what I have at home). All in all, this hotel is a very nice hotel in a small community.
• jenstew33 (2/5): Very unkempt hotel - We did a long stay at this place. Unfortunately it is the only place in Underwood to do such. First off when we got to our room it was far from clean. There were duck feathers all over the kitchen area and the sink had feathers and blood in them. Then we found black mold under the windows and along the walls near the windows. Talk about a health hazard. For the amount they charge you would expect a upscale apartment not a dive. They say they have Wi-Fi but it is as good as dial up. The manager is hardly ever on property when she is she is constantly saying it will get fixed but it is never fixed. I would not recommend this place to the homeless.
• lifedancer1946 (2/5): YIKES - We had driven all the way from Reno, NV straight through on a hot shot delivery. Arrived around midnight after 26 hours of non-stop driving. I checked ahead and discovered very little choices for accommodations unless returning to Bismark. We just couldn't face driving the additional 54 miles back to Bismark after the delivery. Sooooo, I went ahead and made a reservation for Dakota Rose and hoped for the best. We were exhausted to say the least and just looking forward to falling into bed. But no! Upon entry into our room, an alarm was sounding-------similar to a fire alarm but different. The manager lived off site. So I had to call her to report this situation. She arrived in about 10 minutes. And after checking various appliances and the furnace, she announced that it was the carbon monoxide alarm. WHAT??!! Well, she finally got the alarm to shut off, but there was no way we were sleeping in that room. She offered us a different room. She trudged us around the outside of the building to a room with an outside entrance. It was very dark, cold, and frosty-muddy with no porch light or outside lighting of any kind. Not to mention that there was no walkway or path, and there seemed to be a lot of construction material that we were stomping through. I made four trips back and forth----toting our luggage and various other items through the mess. So this second accommodation was an apartment with a small living room, and 2 small bedrooms. The bathroom was ever so tiny with a shower that must have been made for midgets and no water pressure whatsoever-----just a dribble. But I digress. We finally crawled into an uncomfortable lumpy double size bed. And although there was no carbon monoxide alarm chanting away, I couldn't get the possibility of not-waking-up out of my head. So I attempted to sleep with the window wide open. Which made for a very frozen night and no sleep at all for either my husband or myself. What a miserable remaining night! Come dawn, we dragged our belongings back out to our van and hit the road. And we left the Desert Rose in our rear view mirror. Somehow we made it to Billings, MT, where we snuggled down for two days of recovery. For us the Dakota Rose was a nightmare.
• clarkieclark (10/5): Loved my stay! - The facility was very clean and more than accommodating. It was the perfect place to stay and I would definitely recommend it to my friends and family. For such a small little town it was a such a pleasant surprise!
