Guest Reviews
- Denise (8/5): - The housekeeper must’ve been distracted as one of the beds had pillows lying on top of the cases. This is a much older motel but it got us where we wanted to be for the night.
- Steve (8/5): - off season. very good price. close to beach. office is only open from 8am till 8pm. take your own coffee pot and ice.
- Laura (4/5): - Place is run down and DARK. Sign doesn’t even have lights. Musty smell throughout. No soap. No hand towels. No bath mat. We drove to Kohls to buy pillows because I didn’t believe other people’s reviews about the flat pillows (My bad). Air conditioner so loud that we had to put tv on 45 volume just to hear it. Expedia said there was “Only one room left” and led me to believe other people were actually CHOOSING this hotel. There were a handful of people there. Plenty of open rooms. (Unless 75% of the hotel is uninhabitable, which might be the case). Room had two queen beds so it slept 4 people. We had 3 people yet had to pay an “extra guest” fee of $40 (False advertising). Stayed here to save money but we should’ve cut back elsewhere.
- Donna (6/5): - The Windjammer has been a staple in Seaside Park for years. She is showing her age and needs room renovations.
- Benjamin (10/5): - It's been a decade since I have been to the Windjammer, but after my stay it feels like I never stopped going. It's been a tradition in my family to go once a year for a week during the summer when I was a kid from 3 years old to 23. Now I am 33, with kids of my own... And I'm so back! It's just like I remembered, the rooms have been updated a little, new countertops in the suites and a bigger fridge, new couch and new beds. All welcome changes. Some minor issues like a very small trace of mold above the shower head. But aside from that the room was clean, and comfortable for what it is! I loved my stay, the staff, the guests, everyone was a joy to be around and food at the windjammer is always a hit for me! I'll be back next year!
- Caroline (10/5): - We cannot wait to come back! Already excited to plan our summer vacation there next year 2026!
- Joan (10/5): - Loved the people, pool, restaurant.
I will return!
- janine (8/5): - Nice stay. Enjoyed the pool and the proximity to everything. For the shore, it was a nice room and clean. Staff were friendly.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Joe at Windjammer is great - the hotel was great. the pool was really nice. they have a restaurant that is opened 8am to 7pm. the only negative i can say is we got a table at the restaurant for late breakfast and the service was very slow. otherwise, the experience was a great one.
- Richard (10/5): - We love the Windjammer!
- JEAN (10/5): - At check in the man set the tone for my stay! So pleasant. I was early & room was not ready. He gave me the badges for the beach, so I didn't miss a minute! The pool was beautiful & clean. Very happy short vaca - I'll be back!
- Frederick (8/5): - Older but nice
- RACHEL (10/5): - Wonderful place can’t wait to go back
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable, family friendly lodging - I absolutely love this property. My family and I have stayed several times now and the ownership is a class act. My only constructive criticism would be that a bit more attention be paid to the cleanliness of the room. In this instance we found a used condom under the futon, as well as items under the bed. I feel horrible even having to say this because I have such high regard for ownership but I think it's important that they know for improvement sakes. Other than that I would recommend the windjammer to anyone looking to visit Seaside.
- Kathi (8/5): - Great pool area. Good location, good staff.
- Ray (2/5): - Immediately found bugs in the room. Everything was dirty and the floors were disgusting i checked in for 10 mins and immediately left after wards. I tried to get a refund and still haven’t received it. Do not go to the place
- Agnes (4/5): - It is inexpensive, but bare bones. Best part- close to the beach and boardwalk. No shower cap, no shampoo, no hair dryer. Rusted mini frig in the room next to huge stain on the floor. Lobby door is locked at 9 pm in the colder months, so need to check in before then or ring a bell and wait.
- Carole (10/5): Love the Windjammer! - Love this place! We come every year and have never been disappointed. The Windjammer is not the Ritz, but the rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, the pool is awesome and we have never ever felt unsafe! We will continue to come back every year as long as the management stays the same. This place is a great value and we love it!
- William (6/5): - The mattress and bedding need an upgrade.
The shower head sounds too loud.
After Labor Day restaurant is closed
- Yuriy (10/5): - Excellent place
- Christopher (10/5): - This was a nice stay. Very much enjoyed our stay. The staff were absolute studs, the pool was nice and clean. It was quiet and only a block from the beach. Extremely convenient. AND you get beach passes with your room! The place needs some major updating like the kitchen in the room looking like its from the 1960s lol. Stayed in room 24, the fan in the bathroom is about to fall out of the ceiling, I would look into that before it falls on someone.
I'll def return though. My family and I really enjoyed ourselves!
- Josephine (8/5): - Pool should be heated. Air conditioner was making a horrible sound. Fridges can be updated.
- John (6/5): - Old property, difficult to unlock the door, no shampoo or soap, had to request, only few towels. Nice bar and restaurant, large pool, close to the beach but had to drive to boardwalk
- Kevin (6/5): - The hotel and staff are friendly but dated and tired. There are zero amenities. I can say the bathroom was clean and the room smelled better than it looked but that’s about it…
- Charlie (8/5): - The staff was very accommodating, allow us to park before and after check in/out. Provided beach passes, great location.
- Michael (10/5): - The Windjammer has charm, personality, and all the comforts you could want. A lot of places like this have been lost to boring white and gray renovations. This place has managed to maintain real character and charm for years. It is family owned, and you can tell that the staff genuinely love the place and enjoy what they are doing. It’s also pretty sweet that this place is only a few minutes walk to the beach. I also love the in-house bar and restaurant and the nice clean pool. You will not find a better place to stay, especially at such a great price, anywhere nearby.
- verna (4/5): - The property is in a great location, near the beach and close to many restaurants and stores. Staff was courteous. It was quiet at night. The property and rooms are extremely outdated (I think everything was the same since we stayed here in 1982). There was NO toilet paper when we arrived, had to go to lobby to ask for it, arrived over an hour later! Kids enjoyed the pool. We had an efficiency room that is VERY dated, one burner on stove set off smoke alarm, limited pots and pans and dishes, almost no utensils. For what we paid, we could have stayed in a fantastic hotel in many other places. We know the costs at the beach have risen, but for what we paid (and everyone else who stays there), improvements are needed.
- Jonathan (8/5): - Great stay and family oriented we will definitely be back!
- Martin (10/5): - Rooms are clean. Comon areas maintained. Friendly staff, took care of a minor room issue quickly. Good live music at the bar. Will stay here again.
- Kathleen (8/5): - Super dated motel but super clean, comfortable and convenient to everything. There were loud groups at pool but owners spoke to them. Didn’t spend a lot of time here because family in area. Pool is well maintained. Bar $ restaurant on site. Lots of restaurants, food options walkable. Would definitely stay here again.
- Maureen (6/5): - It is clean, the owners and staff were helpful and accommodating within their means. Breakfast was good and the portions were enormously. Quite and walkable to various destinations. Property itself is a little dated, it looks like they are slowly trying to upgrade rooms, furniture etc...
- Julia (6/5): - Old hotel and mediocre facilities. Efficiency had a small refrigerator and microwave. Futon was outdated and extremely lumpy and uncomfortable. Bathrooms need to be upgraded from the 60's. Owner was condescending at check-in the clientele were more concerned with their happy hours than watching their kids in the pool who clearly couldn't swim.
- Samara (10/5): - Good 😊
- Peter (8/5): - Close to IBSP
- Verified traveler (4/5): VINTAGE MOTEL ... NO AMENITIES !! - After travelling 12 long hours to arrive prior to the 6:00pm check-in time, we were greeted by Joe and Margaret ... lovely couple who stated they have owned the establishment for 40 years !!
Directed to our reserved "efficiency" suite #3, we were less than impressed by the accommodations, which have not been updated in a long, long time. Basic amenities you might expect for this type of unit (microwave, toaster. kettle, safe, etc.) were nowhere to be found !! (thank goodness we brought our own). Queen mattress in bedroom and pull-out futon provided for a less than comfortable sleep. Also, there was no restaurant open, no entertainment or music, no "Happy Hour" as advertised ... the one bright spot was the central pool, which closed at 8:00pm (so don't arrive late !!).
We made the best of this situation by visiting family, the boardwalk, and a great Karaoke evening at "Hook's Bar & Grill" (1320 Boulevard).
Our saving grace ... we were only there for 4 days !!
- Joann (10/5): - Quiet and friendly
- Viktoriia (6/5): - Nice service. Beautiful area around. Older hotel but clean
- Jeannine (10/5): Great Mother/Daughter Trip - Had a great time. I was a little leery because it was older and I was afraid it was going to be dated. The lobby is definitely old fashioned. They even still use real keys and have cubby holes for all the keys. But when we walked into the room it was vey nice. The carpet looked new, new paint. The bathroom was very clean. A little small, but it did the job. I would definitely stay here again. I would have liked to have had wi-if in the room though. Also, it is super close to the beach. I would definitely recommend.
- Michael (8/5): - Close to the boardwalk. Just one mile walk. Personnel is kind. The pool was spotless. The motel is a little older but clean
- Jessica (8/5): Stay Away! - The front desk was extremely rude in every aspect of communication. I called to verify information and asked questions. When mentioning I wasn’t aware of check in policy the man on the phone immediately stated to cancel my appointment and reach out Expedia. I called a different day to ask a different question man was still rude. When we went to check in the man yelled at me and my son and my nephew. I almost wanted to cancel everything however this was a getaway promised to my son and nephew who are going away to college in a few weeks so I didn’t want to disappoint them. I would NEVER go back and never recommend anyone to book here.
- Sheyla (10/5): - N/A
- Jessica (8/5): - A very warm family business, very helpful with recommendations on places to see in the area.
- Tammy (8/5): - Room was outdated and kind of musty smell. Check in was quick and friendly.
- Roseann (6/5): - Older motel
- Cheryl (8/5): - Its a very cozy place nd close to alot of things.
- Danielle (6/5): - Old Motel but in very convenient location with short walk to beach.
- DIANNE (6/5): - The property is in a great location very near popular beaches and restaurants. Most staff were courteous. It was quiet so I was able to get a good nights sleep. The property unfortunately is way outdated but has a great in ground pool that is well maintained. Our room was not cleaned well , there was black mold in the shower faucet and strands of hair in the bathroom. Also carpet smelled remnants of smoke and large amounts of dust accumulated on the floor. We had an efficiency room and the utensils had to be washed and oven was in poor condition with knob missing. The housekeeper walked in to our room unexpectedly luckily the door chain was on. Overrall much improvement is needed and the property could have great potential.
- Carol (8/5): - Needs updating and supplies in the room, towels and bedding had strange smell.
- Lisa (10/5): - Great relaxed place
- Jennifer (10/5): - Frankie and Joe Sr and Margret are the most amazing people ever! The entire establishment is top notch! Stay at Windjammer if your ever in the area!!!
- Yuriy (10/5): - Very nice hotel personnel and location. Recommended!
- Jesse (10/5): - Always a great time at the Windjammer! It is very close to Island Beach State Park, which is favorite place to visit there. This is my second year in a row going to the Windjammer and I will be staying there again as soon as possible!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Dirty - The room was disgusting, there was dust and cobwebs in every corner of the room. There was hair in the shower, and the towels smelled like mildew and bleach. I was really disappointed, old and outdated is one thing but dirty is a whole other story.
- Tracy (8/5): Enjoyed our time there!! - Love staying there! Looks like they’re starting to update which is nice to see!! New beds and dressers would be my next update clean and simple not to bulky.
Did mention the cleanliness to the owner before leaving. But overall a great stay!!
- Erica (10/5): - The staff were so nice and welcoming, the location was very convenient and the room was good over all. The kitchen in the room was such a help on budgeting. Definitely a place I’ll be going back to !
- Samara (10/5): - Good ❤️
- Allison (10/5): - very friendly and welcoming staff and nice pool
- BRITNEY (10/5): - Second stay here and I love it. Family owned and operated they make you feel like one of their own! Beach so close, pool is beautiful and warm!
- Richard (8/5): Good place, glad I stayed - I missed seeing that the check-in was by 6:30pm, but the owner called and agreed to wait until 9pm for me. He was very personable and friendly. The room was clean and warm and there was plenty of hot water. The property is dated but we stayed 2 nights and it was fine. I was happy with the comfort of my bed but my wife prefers a pillow top soft feel.
- Lester (10/5): - Old place, but all good. No complaints. Real keys for the room doors. Remember metal keys?!
- Michael (8/5): - Nice place
- Kathryn (6/5): - A blast from the past: key entry, daily housekeeping, proximity to beach! Dislikes: dirty A/C unit, floor carpet dirt around wall and furniture edges, no attempt to replace stairwell lightbulb, elevator not available between 9pm and 8am.
- Roselys (4/5): - The mold in the bathroom curtain.
Lousy job on the not so clean linen and changing them
- VIVIEN (10/5): - I enjoyed our stay at the Windjammer. Location is ideal. You can walk to anything in the area. Staff extremely pleasant & friendly, as were other guests. The restaurant & bar were a plus to have onsite. Daily Happy Hour was a bonus; all drinks are $1 off. Was looking forward to the reported free appetizers but the waitress told us that's only in off-season. It was great to have Beach Badges included. The rooms were very clean although outdated. We had a small double bed for 2 & it would have been nice to have a Queen instead. Nonetheless, we slept very well.
- Susan (8/5): I was happy - It was very quiet. I was happy with my room. A/c worked great. Breeze from bay to the Ocean.
- Robert (10/5): - It was a beautiful vacation I wish I stayed longer
- Tracy (8/5): - We enjoyed having a restaurant and bar on the property. The fact that they provide beach badges was awesome.
The bathrooms are a little small.
- JAMES (8/5): - A great place to rest after a long day at play. During the 1st week of August 2022 my wife and I stayed 3 nights at the Windjammer. Our room was on the 2nd floor with 2 full size beds. We spent most of our time on the nearby beach then out on the town to various restaurants and visiting friends and family. We returned late each night and found our room clean and A/C cool. The staff members are very friendly and gladly offer assistance if needed. The Windjammer motor lodge is budget friendly and a short walk or drive to the beach. Recommend.
- Thomas (4/5): Do Not Stay at the Windjammer Motel Seaside Park - Upon check-in the staff were friendly and accommodating. When my two children and I entered the room they immediately commented about the poor condition of the room. The furniture was very outdated, probably from the late 60's early 70's. Surprisingly there was a flat screen TV but very small. The bed covers were very old and stained, same for the curtains. The carpeting was also very old, stained, and smelled musty. The ceiling in the bathroom was water stained and looked like it could fall down. The only positive thing about the room was that the wood paneled walls were painted white, except it was a poor paint job. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable.
We were supposed to stay three nights but my kids convinced me to stay only two. By the second day I was legitimately not feeling well and by the third morning I told the manager that we would be leaving early since I wasn't feeling well. I asked for a partial refund for the third night but he refused, saying since I booked it online he could not refund any money. Which of course was BS!
- melissa (4/5): - Although the location was desirable—walking distance to private beach, the motel is in dire need of updating and repair. Our room was pretty clean. The beds were springy. The bathroom fan did not work and had ceiling tiles with mildew and askew. My teen daughter felt very uncomfortable in the shower. And the teenage boys didn’t want to stay the last night so we left late at night so we wouldn’t have to sleep there. It’s a shame it costs so much, they charge extra for guests. The only positives- location and pool.
- Verified traveler (8/5): One bad apple can ruin the bunch - I have stayed here in the past. Owners are very nice and they are present. The Hotel has a restaurant and bar, prices are reasonable. Owner provide beach badge that you can borrow. The rooms have an efficiency kitchen, a pot and a pan, I'd bring my own if you plan on having meals in your room. Guests are usually repeat customers and friendly. It's a short walk to the beach.
A couple of drawbacks:
Pool isn't handicapped accessible, I had a difficult time getting in and out.
The elevator stops running after a certain time. I am not in good health so it was hard to negotiate the stairs.
There was one bar maid/waitress (Maureen) who was acting unprofessionally while she was a patron at the bar. One night we were having dinner and had a view of the galley that lead to the kitchen, while still in uniform but off duty, she kept going in the galley and lifting up her shirt so the men seated at the corner of the bar could see. She was still wearing he "STAFF" t-shirt.
Another night she insulted me. Out of the clear blue.
This is a family friendly place and I was disappointed in this women's behavior.
That was the last time we patronized the restaurant.
I probably won't be staying here again.
- Jesse (10/5): - Had a great time at the Windjammer and it is conveniently located near Island Beach State Park, which has the most beautiful beaches available in New Jersey! Definitely will be going back!
- Gerard (8/5): - The staff is amazing! Great happy hour, great pool, comfortable rooms with a quick easy walk to the beach.
- Eric (4/5): Never to return - We needed a place to spend the night after visiting with friends in Brick. Booked on and really didn't check any of the reviews for the place. Mostly booked it because of its proximity to where we were going to visit in land. They gave us a room with a view "POOL SIDE", they could have speared us that, the pool was in disrepair, granted we weren't going to use it in March, but...
Not being so happy with the overall condition of the room, the furniture (I've seen better that people were throwing out for the garbage man) looked like hell. The carpet was very worn out, call me spoiled but there was only this dorm size refrigerator, but no little coffee maker, least of all a microwave. If you needed ice, it was in the lobby in a soda like cooler (no ice machine) and the lobby closed at 10pm.
The bed covers were not the cleanest, but the sheets seemed to be washed and clean so did the bath towels.
The TV really kind of sucked because it was very difficult to find channels with the remote that was in the room.
I realize that this room is nothing but a place to sleep after a day at the beach and nothing more.
If there is one thing, I can say good about the place was the "Night front desk person" in this case was a very nice guy. He was a pleasure to talk to. Realizing it's not his fault the place was a dump; I didn't take up those things that I just mention about the room and what we thought.
It looks like it was a great place, maybe 25 plus years ago. Time to tear it down...
- Katlynn (10/5): - Staff was extremely considerate, and kind. Check in was easy and hassle free because of the very sweet man at the front desk. We had a great experience here.
- Debbie (8/5): - Owner is really nice even offered check out a little later.
- Richerd (8/5): - Staff was great. It the most out dated hotel ive stayed in for as long as i rememeber. Please seemed pretty clean though.
- Patti (4/5): - Staff was nice. But the room not so much. Not very clean couldn't use the pull-out couch, it was dirty
- Carrie (10/5): - Maureen at the front desk was so nice. Very clean location.
- Karen (4/5): - Unfortunately because some rooms were under repair, I was put in an older unit in desperate need of attention. Wish the owner had spent some time having this room deep cleaned prior to putting guests in there. Otherwise, seemed like the place has good potential if they update all rooms.
- Kim (8/5): Windjammer - Room was vlean and comfortable, no frills, furniture is old but in good condition
- Mary (10/5): - Frank was fantastic! Very personable, helpful, and interested in our needs! The room, which could benefit from some upgrade, was very clean and comfortable. Thank you!!
- John (8/5): - Pretty darn nice for an off-season motel. The owners greeted us warmly at the front desk and were committed to our happiness and comfort. The lobby is being renovated so at first glance, it looks a bit disheveled. That wasn't the case at all. The room was a bit dated but again, it was perfect place to catch some rest as we fished Island Beach SP. I'd certainly return.
- Timothy (8/5): - Very nice welcome by owners
The room was good and clean
- Neal (8/5): Shore visit - Great opportunity for shore getaway.
- vincent (10/5): - Unique old style motel not much to look at but the rooms were cleaned and well maintained. Staff was very friendly.
- Mary (8/5): - The place is great for closeness to beach, pool and bar. The rooms are older ,but clean. The door lock was our only issue. Was difficult to open lock since it was so old.
- Ron (8/5): No Coffee - Nice motel for the price. Everything seemed well maintained and clean. The only thing we missed was coffee in the morning. We had to go outside to get some.
- Daniela (2/5): - Very dated. Not clean. No Covid-precautions whatsoever. Sofa-bed was falling apart, and the mattress was so old/cheap that you could feel every spring. Property allows smoking everywhere it seems, i.e. we couldn't even use the pool because it was full of trashy folk smoking whilst in the water. Clientele very questionable. The only good thing about the place was the proximity to the beach beach passes.
- Thiago (10/5): - Wonderful and clean place
- Robert (8/5): - The property is well positioned if you want quiet nights and quick beach access; very walkable distance. Beach passes are provided, and the pool on site though old is well kept. Over all friendly staff and owner. Very approachable.
This is an older facility and has been kept clean but still is in the 80's for décor and style.
- Monica (8/5): - Very close to the beach, bakery, deli; great pool; very friendly and helpful staff. Older furnishings and rooms but served our purpose and the efficiency kitchen was clutch.
- RACHEL (10/5): - It’s was very clean no smells
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice clean hotel. Owners and staff are great. Hotle is a lttle dated but everything is clean and daily maid service.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Spent a week at the Windjammer - very friendly, clean, perfect location, family run . I would recommend it and will probably be going back next year
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall, fine...but the mattress...ugh! So uncomfortable, felt every spring. When I sat down on the edge, it was like sitting on a highwire.
- Susan (8/5): - A nice family run motel, we felt like welcome company.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Clean rooms, no frills...the issue is they do not separate smokers from non smokers...so they can smoke outside their room and if course the smoke can travel to your room...asked for separation...owner wasn't interested
- Verified traveler (10/5): Loved it - No frills, old fashioned jersey shore accommodations. Exactly what we were looking for. Friendly staff. Super clean. Will definitely visit again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I love the family feel at this place! Guests have been coming for a long time and Frank was available at all times to help. Especially in RM 206 there was a loose ceiling tile that scared me when I tried to place it correctly and the entire tile came down. I went to Frank and he immediately placed it back to its original position, but it is loose and I was a little scared it'd come off again. Other than that the room was clean, the bathroom clean the shower curtain clean. Overall it was a great stay! I will be coming back! I loved Chrissy at the bar restaurant she was AMAZING and took care of all of us like family!
