Absolutely horrible - and the drinks we were served by a delightful young lady who had never made or served a drink before. It was a Monday and the main restaurant was closed, but we would have been better off with a baguette amd butter. The glass of wine she served my husband contained approximately 1 ounce of wine. My drink was equally unacceptable.

- Philippe (8/5): Un accueil exceptionnel, qui donne beaucoup de charme à cette belle maison. - Excellent accueil et attention du personnel à tous les niveaux, de l'accueil, au déjeuner (excellent), puis au copieux petit déjeuner, jusqu'au départ, beaucoup d'anticipation, pas une fausse note. C'est devenu très rare pour être souligné. Chambre un peu vieillotte en décoration et équipement, même si tous le nécessaire et le confort est présent. La literie est excellente.
- Mark5001 (9/5): Mid France stopover, and to take a superb dinner in the hotel Michelin restaurant - The hotel is in very beautiful grounds in a rural area a few miles from Limoges and the main north/south autoroute if travelling through France North/South by car as we were, with woods and a lake, so nice for a walk. The hotel has a Michelin restaurant which is the primary reason we stayed and this was really superb. The hotel room was a bit disappointing as it was an attic room and if/when we stay again we would likely book a higher grade room. the staff were very welcoming and friendly. good parking close to reception. The room we had was a little disappointing as small and in an attic type space. if/when we stay again we would select a higher grade room.

Bed and bowls provided and wonderful parkland for him to run about in. It’s a lovely hotel. I thought the breakfast was pricey. 30€ for a croissant, yogurt and coffee. Of course I could have had more but didn’t want more. A more flexible approach to breakfast pricing would be welcome.

- J (10/5): Y’a d’la joie … a real pearl in amongst so much modern plastic ‘costume jewellery’ - Divine setting inviting the guest to enjoy long walks around the property in the heart of nature to the sound of babbling brooks with glimpses of the occasional deer grazing peacefully. The lovely owner and her helpful, non-intrusive staff add a sense of the familial here which made us feel welcome and at home. The gastronomic restaurant receives a star from the Michelin Guide (ref. https://guide.michelin.com/gb/en/nouvelle-aquitaine/nieul_1470595/restaurant/chapelle-saint-martin). Sadly, for the two nights at the beginning of the week that we stayed here, the restaurant was not open. However, the dinner menu in the garden restaurant was sufficiently excellent enough to satisfy our tastebuds amply. And the breakfast? Ah, the breakfast! The cheeses, the meats, the bread, and everything else … y’a d’la joie … here you’ll know that you’re in a place where food and hospitality are loved. Service was 5 star: tour of hotel, treats in room, turndown service with lavender mist, were just some of the highlights. Restaurant experience both at dinner and breakfast surpassed expectations. The pigeon was to die for. We would whole-heartedly recommend. Not cheap but worth every cent. We will try to return one day.

- Gillian (6/5): OK - It would be helpful if the note about the restaurant being closed on a Monday was more prominent (like including it on the list of facilities rather than it being in the small print) but that isn't the fault of the hotel and the lovely receptionist did mention it as soon as we arrived. It's an old house, and the wifi didn't work in our room. I am personally not a fan of hotel beds with blankets rather than duvets.

But you would not come here for the mod cons. You might come here for the cuisine. the food is excellent and the service is good.
