Guest Reviews
- Alexis Marie (10/5): - This was an amazing stay! Every time I come to Guatemala, I want to stay here. I have nothing bad to say, it was perfect!
- Jackie (10/5): Great place - We love this hotel because of its staff, and the comfortable rooms they have. Location is perfect with lots to do and places to eat.
- Bradley (10/5): - Hotel Fontabella is an amazing property. Centrally located and so many food options are available within the hotel property. The Staff is superb, Sofia and the rest of the staff took excellent care of us during our stay. We will be returning in 6 months and really look forward to staying with Hotel Fontabella.
- Irena (10/5): - Well appointed suites with exceptionally luxurious bed and bedding. Kitchen and living space is modern and comfortable. Very clean! Highly recommended.
- Stephan (10/5): - Great staff and great apartment
- Justina (10/5): - This hotel was amazing and it smelled so good. Walking distance from the Oakland Mall, lots of onsite restaurants and walking distance from Cielto, a delicious upscale dinning experience. This is a must stay
- Carmen V (8/5): - The water pipe burst and what the property offer was potatoe chips - unacceptable
- Sheila (10/5): - Don’t need to leave once you check in as everything you need is under one roof……shopping, dining, entertainment, spa, bookstore, cafes, etc. terrific!
- Maria (10/5): - Sophia at the front desk is the asset of this property. Had a not so pleasant experience checking out in the past with one other receptionist though. Room is very spacious and having a/c is a major plus as most places in Guatemala do not have a/c (other than major hotels in the city). The balcony and kitchenette in each room are definitely appreciated. Also, the mall is a couple of floors down via elevator. There’s a Starbucks and very good restos plus a Sophos bookstore (comprehensive bookstore is a bit rare in GC). Overall, a very good stay in this hotel which is also within a short driving distance to and from the airport.
- Hebe (2/5): - Internet did not work. Size vs furniture are not adequate. Place feels empty and cold.
- maria M (10/5): - Our stay at Fontabella Hotel was truly exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and cared for. Every interaction—from the front desk to housekeeping—was marked by genuine kindness, professionalism, and attention to detail.
The accommodations were elegant, clean, and comfortable, offering a peaceful retreat right in the heart of Guatemala City. But what truly stood out was the personalized service. The team anticipated our needs, accommodated every request with grace, and made us feel like valued guests every step of the way.
We left with full hearts and lasting memories. Thank you to everyone at Fontabella for making our stay so special. We can’t wait to return!
- VICTOR (2/5): - Such poor customer service. And to be honest
- Ralph (10/5): - This property is so beautiful. Very clean! I just wish they had a pool but there’s a mall with restaurants to very very convenient!!!! Stay at Fontabella. You won’t regret it!!!
- Jennifer (10/5): - I stayed here with my two pre-teen girls to visit a former exchange student who lives in the city. The price is really great for the spacious and clean accommodations. We were upgraded to a deluxe suite, which was very large and comfortable. Windows and doors are not well sealed for noise, so there is a lot of street noise in the evenings, but we fell asleep fine. Beds are comfortable and there is a lot of closet and cupboard space.
Front desk staff all speak fluent English and are very helpful to arrange transportation and give local recommendations. They arranged a car to the airport for us at 4am. The cost was a little high, but they also gave options for Uber and taxi. Since our flight was early in the morning I thought the arranged car would be the most reliable. The driver was there waiting for us when we came down to the lobby.
The plaza was very safe and nice with lots of really good dinning options. Few shop or restaurant staff speak English, so may be difficult for non-Spanish speaking guests. Also the shopping is a little overpriced and would recommend visiting one of the city's larger shopping plazas to do any shopping.
There is a small market across the street with staples for the kitchen and beautiful flower bouquets.
The only thing lacking at the hotel was a consistent supply of bottled water. Hotel policy is to supply one large jug per week, which is not enough for three people. We were able to get a second jug at a very reasonable price though.
- Lesli (10/5): - Great place
- Michael (10/5): Favorite Guatemala City Hotel - The whole building is amazing. For check-in, stand in front of the Starbucks, there is an elevator near the escalators, with a waterfall/fountain behind it. Take this elevator to floor 3 to check-in. There are many other sets of elevators but only this elevator will allow check in. Full kitchen, 1.5 bathrooms, loft style room was phenomenal. The shower had some mold growing in it from not being properly cleaned, but the rest of the space was very clean. The shower was properly hot and had really great water pressure. There is security at every entrance to the residents rooms, in addition to all the security staff within the Fontabella shopping center itself. Teco Coffee House, easily one of the best coffee shops in the world, he really knows what he is doing, is across the street to the south. So many breakfast and dinner options right in the building. Oakland Place (mall) and numerous other food options are a short walk away. I will stay here again.
- Edgar (10/5): - Great hotel and amazing suite. It’s like having your own full equipped apartment. Will book again
- Yesenia (10/5): - We have stayed at this property a few times and keep coming back because we love everything about it. We highly recommend it! It is beautiful, clean, fancy, and safe. You never have to leave the property because everything you need is beneath you. Our goal is to dine at all of the amazing restaurants.
- Marquesha (10/5): - Stay was great , very satisfied no complaints…
- Gustavo (10/5): - Very kid friendly
- Emely (10/5): Beautiful hotel - Great staff and communication. Bedrooms are full on suites fully equipped with everything that is needed. Really quiet and luxurious makes you feel like home
- Mauro (10/5): Fantastic Choice! - Located in the heart of one of the city's most vibrant and upscale neighborhoods, this hotel offers an experience that perfectly blends comfort, convenience, and sophistication.
The highlight of the property is undoubtedly its first-floor mall. Imagine stepping out of your room and having immediate access to a variety of restaurants catering to every palate, chic shops for retail therapy, and even a well-stocked bookstore for some quiet reading moments. The mall adds a vibrant energy to the property, making it a hub for both locals and travelers alike.
Proximity to the airport is another big plus—just 25 minutes away, making it an excellent choice for both short stays and extended visits. Despite being so central, the area feels incredibly safe, allowing guests to explore nearby bars, clubs, and restaurants without a second thought.
The accommodations are nothing short of luxurious. The apartments are stylishly designed with high-end finishes, offering all the comforts of home with a touch of elegance. Plus, the laundry service is efficient and reliable, which is a lifesaver for longer stays.
A special mention goes to the staff. Everyone I interacted with was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind, ensuring my stay was as seamless as possible. Their hospitality added a personal touch that truly set this hotel apart.
Whether you're visiting for business or leisure, this hotel is a fantastic choice.
- Christopher (10/5): - The loft we stayed in was great and we used the kitchen often. Grocery store right across the street and TecoCoffeeShop is adjacent and delicious. The staff is pleasant and helpful. Zona 10 is vibrant, safe, and convenient (easy airport commute). The apartments are inside the open air shopping mall, that again provides an extra level of security. The WIFI internet was fast and reliable working all week without problems (I worked remotely). Walking distance to Oakland Mall (spectacular), Zoo (impressive), and many awesome restaurants. Great place to work/play.
- Julio Cesar (6/5): - The hotel is fine, I just did not like the fact the there is no management between the hours of 8PM to 7 AM, therefore we had to wait until next day to make any request. Our TV did not worked, we requested to fix the light bulb of one of the bathroom and it took 3 days before they could fix it. Elevators were not working and nobody notified us about it, we ended up carrying up our shopping and down our baggage the day we left. Staff are super friendly and the location is great.
- Jackie (8/5): Overall a good stay - We stayed in a loft room which was a little difficult to go up and down the stairs. The bed was very comfortable and the entire space was very clean and beautiful. The last two days the toilet had a few issues and we had to fix it every time we flushed the toilet. Overall a good stay because we like the area, but I would not get a lift room again.
- Fernando (4/5): - Air conditioning did not work. They sent a technician and never fixed it. After his visit it stopped working completely.
- Gary (6/5): - Midnight arrival was difficult. 2 towers far apart, with a warren of shops in between. No english for clerk in second tower. A little noise from restaurants below. Room was excellent in all regards.
- Ayoela (10/5): - Beautiful hotel, lovely and accommodating staff!
- Jeanette (8/5): - There was alot of construction going on which made it noisy. Breakfast was decent nice proportion are is located around a lot of bars like a less than 10min walkin distance. Didnt like the fact there was no pool. They do lock the hotel at night so you do have to ring to door bell which is good for safety. There is a language barrier so google translation helped
- Leyla (10/5): - I stayed at the Fontabella Hotel and I really liked how friendly and helpful the staff were. The hotel was very clean and the bedroom was spacious and nice. The view from the terrace was amazing, you could see the whole city. The hotel is in a central location, which is great. It has become my favorite place to stay. I would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
- Margarita (10/5): - I loved the personnel every where you turned around they were ready to help you! Very quaint love this uiye
- Margarita Michelle (10/5): - All employees were extremely helpful and knowledgeable as to any question. The facility and rooms are perfectly done. Feels like home!
- Javier Antonio (10/5): - Un lugar muy lindo
- daniel (10/5): - the rooms are high, i booked a loft room which had a complete living / dining/ kitchen area downstairs and a bedroom upstairs, hotel is located inside a dining and shopping plaza which is very convenient
- Joshua (10/5): - Really fantastic stay. Rooms were very nice with lots of storage and a pull out sofa bed. Everything was pretty clean, very safe, and quiet at night. Bed was really nice. I was surprised this was one of the more affordable locations to stay that was very nice.
- Kristen Renee (10/5): - Hotel staff were always available and accomodating. Rosmery and Sophie went above and beyond our expectations!
- Kelvin (10/5): - The staff at Fontabella are exceptional. They meet your requests right away and the hotel is well kept. I think this may be the best hotel in the city!!
- Kristen (10/5): - Sophia and Rosmery were so helpful!!! They were lovely and helped us out so much!
- Claudia (6/5): - Great location!
- Claudia (6/5): Terrible bed - The bed was terrible.
- Jacqueline (10/5): - We loved everything about this property especially the people in the front desk. We would like to thank Sofia Perez for her special way in treating us and her welcoming manner.
The room was beautiful, spacious, clean, and had gorgeous views of the city.
One thing that we are not used to is the noise from some of the nearby bars, but that is something we knew would happen because of the area we were in. It is well worth the bit of inconvenience, though.
- fernando (10/5): - THE PEOPLE inside the hotel are wonderful persons. Thanks
- Jackie (10/5): Amazing hotel - This hotel was amazing! The room we stayed in had a full kitchen, a beautiful living room and an extremely comfortable bed. It was so spacious and had access to an outdoor patio. My husband and I had a wonderful experience with the staff and everyone involved at the hotel. I loved the ease with which we could go down the elevator and be in the action of all the stores, restaurants, etc that Fontabella has to offer. We walked everywhere including the best mall Oakland Mall. Our stay was the best one yet in Guatemala City. We visit at least once a year sometimes twice a year. We will be staying there again in the future.
- Ty (10/5): - We loved our stay. Great staff!
- Luis (6/5): Safe and Friendly - My experience, suite 306 noise the AC compressor is right outside of the room so is very noise specially at night, no hot water for the for 2 days but they fixed, people at the hotel are very friendly make feel good all the time. is very nice area and and very safe to walk around
- Oscar (10/5): - Great overall
- Oscar (10/5): - Great option in Guatemala city, highly recommended
- Olivia (10/5): - I was very impressed with all the service, staff was very pleasant the room was clean everyday,
I will be staying here again on my next vacation.
Thank you to all the staff
- Luis (10/5): - All suites hotel situated in a beautiful shopping center with over 20 restaurants and bars options.
I go to Guatemala at least 3 times a year. I plan all trips around the room availability at this hotel
- JAVIER (8/5): - Muy buena opción para hospedarse en la Zona 10 de Guatemala. Centrico y muy agradable.
- Antonio (8/5): - Great location, and nice place.
- Marco (8/5): - Spacious suite with living room and kitchen with dining table, convenient location for business or pleasure, great restaurants and bars on premises. Shower not good, it does not keep a steady temperature. Friendly staff.
- Luis (8/5): - Great location, disappointing that they don’t clean everyday
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything was amazing from the wait staff to the food options. Everything was 5 star and I will definitely return. Sooner rather than later!
- Rafael (6/5): Great Property, Awful Service at Check-In - Great room, amazing location, bad service at check-in. The recepcionist wasnt able to find our reservation and was very rude and unhelpful, he acted as if we were bothering him. Fortunately we called hotels.com and everything was resolved.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely place to lay your head after a long day of travel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very Convenient and Large rooms, great value. The staff is very helpful.
- Erik (10/5): Central location in an upscale mall. - Very good location. Rooms are good for extended stays. Parking in the building if you need it. Staff was professional. It has multiple restaurants in the Fontebella mall below.
- Patrick (10/5): 5 Star service - Great location. Amazing service .
- Patrick (10/5): 5 star experience - Amazing , clean , friendly ,accomadating .
- Janette (2/5): - They gave us a regular room instead of the upgraded loft we booked and paid for. The worst part was we didn’t find out until we got to our room and I realized it. When I very kindly communicated this to them they said our loft wasn’t ready due to a maintenance issue. They lacked to communicate this upon check in. Beware this hotel charges you for everything- including coffee pods, water and any snacks!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hotel room was clean spacious. However, I think if you have 2 people staying in a room you should be given 2 bath cloths for the guest, we were only given one.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - No pool. They asked my registered guest if she was a visitor twice. Had they checked there system they would know she was a registered guest. Seemed a little racist to me. I did not see or hear of any Expedia vip promotions! They did not assist me with my luggage on the way out.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent room, very kind people, excellent location
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Difference between expedia and the hotel. Bad communication.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very comfortable, safe and well locate hotel. - Very nice environment, very well located, very good stage and comfortable amenities and premises.
- Andrew (10/5): Great Hotel - A great hotel in a good location, staff more than willing to help
- Verified traveler (2/5): Miserable service at a lovely hotel. - The most disorganized hotel I have ever stayed at and I travel a huge amount! The hotel itself is difficult to find, buried inside a mall. Once we got to the front desk, we had to wait a full15 minutes for someone to round up a manager to check us in. My husband was sick so climbed immediately into bed. That's when we realized that the air conditioning in the room didn't work, or the manager didn't know how to work it. So we moved rooms.
The room itself was lovely--gorgeous--a wonderful suite that looked more like a condo than hotel. Perfect for a long term stay.
But because the place is so poorly run, they charged my credit card for my stay, which was supposed to be covered by a Hotels.com free night. So now I have to waste even more time sorting this out.
- Carlos (10/5): Excellent hotel for businesses - I really enjoy this hotel
- Oscar (10/5): Fontabella - Excellent place to stay and have fun.
- Jose (10/5): great rooms, bad service staff - It was all as expected until they check me out one night earlier by mistake. The front desk man called me at 2:45am to tell me that I was going to be charged and extra night. someone check me out one night earlier. the security guards are rude and for some reason they think you are going to rob the place. it took them over 20 min to let me in the hotel.
