• Penni (10/5): - Loved the property, building and rooms. The contactless check in was flawless. I would recommend that if you have guests the coffee shop be open on Sunday and the bar be open longer than 5-9. Wonderful place that we will be back regardless of my suggestions

There is no way you’d expect a renovated design classic like the Hardware in this small, rural but impeccably well kept, town The handcrafted cocktail bar, The Bobcat, is icing on the cake. We will be back. We are searching for a reason to pass by this way again simply for the Hotel Hardware Totally Epic! (In a very stylish understated way)

• Breanna (6/5): - Hotel is clean, but very sparse. There is no on site staff. Room didn’t have any cups, or coffee, or soap at the bathroom sink, only in the shower. Beds were nice and comfortable, but that and some night stands were the only furnishings. When I got to the hotel I couldn’t get in and had to call to figure out how to get in. Was supposed to get an email with checkin instructions but never did. I was supposed to be able to pay at the hotel when I booked but they charged my card right away, which made sense once I got there and realized that wouldn’t have been possible, but it shouldn’t be offered as an option when checking out on Expedia.
• Haley (8/5): - I loved the character and design. The mix of old and new was really cool. I only wish there had been more amenities. The sheet said there was coffee in the lobby but the room where it was supposed to be was locked our entire stay.

• Timothy (8/5): - Nice property. beautiful lobby, spacious rooms with nice furnishings. lobby is not staffed. you pre-check in via email and they email you a four digit code to enter the property and your room. its a two story building but no elevator so ask for a ground floor room if you cant climb stairs. nice roof top outdoor deck. ground level bar and bottle shop opens at 4pm. Bartender was very nice and helpful. Room was minimally furnished so there is no where to sit other than the bed. i brought work with me and there was no desk either so i had to lay on the bed to send some email. A self serve coffee or tea station in the lobby is a also a need. otherwise i would have given 5 stars.
• Pamela (10/5): - Renovated old building turned into very modern history filled hotel. Fun old horse equipment and assorted antiques add character to otherwise minimalist decor. My only suggestion is there was no chair or desk in my room. Had work and meetings to attend while here.
• Susan (10/5): - Dayton is a cute town and the hotel is a gem! We had a chance to meet the owner who is as personable and hospitable as he could be. Rooms were spacious with antique windows and high ceilings. We had a great stay and will return here if staying in Dayton.

We loved the room but wish there had been a small table with chairs to enjoy a glass of wine with one another and play a card game at the end of the day since the bar does close relatively early compared to when we normally go to bed. There is quite a bit of open space in the room for that to be accommodated comfortably. We greatly appreciated the thoughtfulness of a phone charger and a tiny fridge to hold our leftoovers from dinner. Padraic was delightful to visit with over our evening cocktail. We wil be back for sure.

Beautifully appointed with antiques and lovingly restored, the hotel celebrates the history of its founder and his place in the community with photographs and narratives. I love the little extras, like delicious chocolates and ever available coffee and tea. We stay whenever going through the area and greatly enjoy the friendly service and warm, inviting atmosphere.

Nice extra touchs like chocolates on arrival and a nice bottle of local Cabernet on departure. Would definitely stay here again.
• Lauriena (10/5): Time traveling - The Weinhard Hotel was a beautiful place to stay. We loved the small town feel and the uniqueness of the hotel. Chris was so attentive and super friendly and we felt immediately like it was home. It was an awesome time traveler stay.
• Abbie (6/5): - I stayed two separate weeks at the Weinhard Hotel. The first week I had a bit of an issue with the employee. Upon arriving there was only one employee available and he was asleep. It took about 30 minutes until he woke up. Once he woke up he was extremely confused and not helpful at all. However, the second week I was helped by someone different who was extremely helpful and kind. They apologized for the inconvenience the week before. Overall it’s a comfortable place to stay, very clean and has all the necessities you need.

• Steve (10/5): A beautiful hotel in Dayton, Washington - Christina (one of the owners) was an exceptional hosts. She was very professional, helpful, kind, and friendly. The hotel is a very fine B&B. A city park and museum behind the hotel. An excellent rooftop deck for enjoying the morning, midday, and evening. Even a Saturday night trivia game.

In-room amenities are basic, as they tend to be at old hotels, but the room was beautiful, furnished with antiques, and the bed was unbelievably comfortable. The common areas are lovely too, again with antiques everywhere. Staff was friendly, and texts from the hotel were helpful. At the time we stayed everything was quiet but I can see that it might be noisy during busy times. Probably not an ideal place for young kids. If I am passing through the area in the future I will gladly stay again.

• Cheryl (6/5): Stay was okay stay, but not enough to come back - This is a cute hotel. CONS: We walked in no workers or greeting. We had to find them in the bar to check in. The lobby is not air conditioned and it was 101 outside. The water bar only had more than ambient water. We had to lug our baggage upstairs (I recently had surgery). No offer of assistance and no lift. The bed frame squeaked if you rolled (enough to wake you up). Neighbors we loud until well past 11pm and no one insight to complain too. The hotel bar/cafe was not serving lunch/dinner as the electrical went out leaving us exactly 2 other opinions for food in town. It felt more like a hostel than a hotel, imo, but your paying hotel pricing. PROS: It’s a cute and historical with past photography. On-site free parking, plenty of plug ins for e’cars. The employees we met were polite just not overly eager to help. The “garden patio” was really cute with corn ball, fire pit and lots of seating. Bit it was just 101 degrees with direct sun so not a good day for it. There was a charming movie theater that had live piano player music playing for the intro advertising before the music across the street. This was the best part of the stay for us.

The breakfast provided was top notch(above & beyond any normal continental breakfast). The room was gorgeous & well kept. Our favorite part was the roof top deck. • Kayla (8/5): Good overnight trip - Our stay was nice, we did have trouble getting comfortable on the bed, but of course everyone has a different preference. The bedding was very comfortable. The Jet tub worked great and the room was spacious and temperature was nice. We do wish there was a microwave in our room so we didnt have to go downstairs to use the community one, but it wasn't a deal breaker. However breakfast was very filling and delicious. Overall a nice stay.

I was pleasantly surprised to see charging stations for electric vehicles. The rooms are spotless and the free breakfast was at the cafe next door. Wonderful. I even got a free bottle of local wine on my checkout day.
• Daniela (2/5): - Absolutely horrendous customer service. Rude, demanding and bossy! Nothing is high end. Non existent continental breakfast. Tubs don’t drain. Check out is 11am and check in is 4pm. We were rushed to check out at 10:30am so they could close for the day. Talked down to with every interaction. Female owner left a 7 paragraph nasty response on google. Will never return. Really missing the old owners. Felt like crap being belittled and talked down to with every interaction.’c especially considering how much we spent with them. Rooms are way over priced. Short busy body with zero customer service skills. Lobby smells bad and they lie about occupancy to upsell rooms.

Dayton has truly suffered with COVID shuttering many businesses. We were able to find good meals at 2 different places. Walla Walla is close enough to go to and wine taste and find lots of places to still and shop before returning to our fabulous accommodations. Also, the parting gift of a bottle of local wine is greatly appreciated.

• Colin (4/5): Hotels.com site error on availability - Hotel, owners, and location were great. I booked on hotels.com the evening before. After a 45 minute drive and a call to check in, I learned that the hotel was fully booked and should not have been available on hotels.com. Hotel owner was apologetic and I understood it was not their fault. Hotels.com returned my call later that evening to enter a refund request in 10 days. While bummed I couldn’t stay, everyone was customer focused. This review is not a reflection on the property, but the site availability error.
• Lisa (10/5): Nice room - Room was comfortable and clean. An easy chair would’ve been nice, but we were also near the lobby (room 1), so I could’ve sat out there to read.
• Verified traveler (6/5): - This is a hotel with lovely and charming decor but unfortunately, terrible customer service and no hospitality to speak of. We were checked in by a teenager—a maybe 15 year old young man with zero customer service skills who was apathetic and clearly untrained. We were not even told where the room was located. Essentially, I was asked my name and handed a key :/ When we tried to call the help desk/reception desk for some general information and for the WiFi password, it was just a automated message that said the phone number was not in service. The restaurant on site had options on the menu that were not even available, I was served a bottom of the keg pint of beer that was filled only 3/4 full and was undrinkable (stale/rancid) and when I brought this to the attention of the server (again, the teenage boy) his response was “okay”—and there was no apology, no offer to replace it nor refund. My friend says the tacos she ordered were delicious though so at least there is that. We found a dirty bandana in the bedding—unacceptable and highlights poor housekeeping. The water dispenser was empty day and night. I needed a receipt and the young man kept saying he had emailed it despite me insisting he didn’t have my email address. Finally, he let me give him my actual email and i received my receipt. Ultimately, my friend and I felt un-welcomed at the Weinhard Hotel. I really don’t like having to leave a bad review but they can do much better.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Beautiful but lacking customer service - Beautiful hotel in a cute little town. The room we ended up in was very nice, and the rooftop terrace was great for sitting by the fire pit, playing corn hole, and chatting with other guests. Breakfast was very good too. Unfortunately we booked a queen room a but upon arrival were given a room with two twin beds. The hotel was fully booked and the owners blamed us for booking through a 3rd party site. They were eventually able to switch us to a queen room but charged us extra on top of what we already paid for what was supposed to be a queen room. The idea of the hotel was nice, but a full house was too much for the owners to handle on their own with no staff to help.

• Verified traveler (6/5): - Wonderful old building nicely updated in the baths and rooms. Older beds resulted in less than good sleeping conditions as they are noisy and too soft. Nice breakfast choices; light snack menu which should be available on website for travelers understanding
• Jack (8/5): Just Not the Same - The Weinhard is under new ownership. While the new couple was friendly and accomodating similar to the previous owners, the feeling just wasn't the same. The owners weren't as visible. Gone was the fruit basket and chocolate replaced by a deck of playing cards, gone was some of the familiar trappings, for instance instead of a gift shop was an area to consume food prepared nicely on the site, which was actually a plus since the restaurant across the street was temporarily closed. However, all the food is bar food and no choices were out of necessity limited. The familiar rooftop deck was unavailable on which to unwind and construction on that was even ongoing and noticeable. On Saturday, when I had finally chosen to sleep in, hammering from above was heard shortening my intended sleep. A nice addition was the EV charging stations, however with towels not being replaced and garbage not being emptied for three days, I am left to wonder for what was I paying the increased price (@25%). We have twice rented out 6-10 rooms at a time and have frequented this hotel multiple times over the last half dozen years, and sorry to say we will probably not make it a priority in the future for us or the people whom we have taken there.
• Verified traveler (10/5): - Like a relaxing trip to the past, this hotel supported the historical purpose of our 47th Anniversary "getaway". Photos, art, furniture, spacious rooms, flawless "quality"--in had everything we wished. Just emerging from the Pandemic shutdown, the "quiet" (meaning "empty") hotel and town was a tiny bit eery. But this hotel and restaurant provide a unique setting for road trips and destination events. Very hospitable new owner. Soon to offer Electric Vehicle charging stations in the parking lot. Highly recommended.

It felt like we were sleeping in a museum. Comfortable bed, clean room, clean bathroom, beautiful antique furnishings. The hotels cafe had a good dinner and the complimentary breakfast was a full sized, home-cooked meal. We plan on returning to enjoy the hotel while touring the historic sites and shops of Dayton.

• Verified traveler (10/5): - The room was much larger than expected (very tall ceilings maybe 15ft), beds were very comfortable and the service was honestly 10/10. Maybe not a big deal to some but the water out of the tap in the room was actually delicious as well.

Pet policy was a little misleading, in that it says it's pet friendly, but there wasn't any option to indicate if you were bringing a pet. This led to a miscommunication, but the owner resolved it pleasantly.

• Maor (10/5): Great stay! - Amazing, utterly charming, and surprisingly very clean and in great shape for a small establishment. If looking for a nice boutique hotel experience this is solid. Espresso, homemade muffins and food are a really nice plus too. Do keep in mind it's about 40min from downtown Walla Walla.

There is attention to detail that makes the stay special, and a relaxed atmosphere where the hectic life settles down and one can take a deep breath and decompress. They use amazing sheets and towels too. Loved it.

I hope to return for a longer stay and soak up the beauty of the architectural gems in Dayton. A truly delightful escape from the hustle and bustle.

• Dipti (10/5): Great stay with mansion feel in a cute little town - This is an amazing piece of property in a cute little town of Dayton. The lady there was very friendly and helpful. The only problem that we faced was heating in the room was either not working or not enough for the size of the room. We had the heater on at highest temperature setting whole night and still it was ~60F in the room. Other than that we loved the ambiance and feel of this hotel. Really huge rooms and its always great to have a hot tub in your bathroom.

I am very happy with everything it has to provide - from coffee and a continental breakfast in the morning to a terrace garden with firepits to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening. The staff is friendly and is available to help with anything. Pro tip: Take a walk through the downtown to learn more about the city.

• Wendy (10/5): - There is a cute antique shop next door, and several places to eat. Walla Walla is only 30 minutes away. This property was super cute; loved the history of the Weinhard family. The owners were really friendly and spent time sharing the history. Slightly reminiscent of a B&B - good service but not intrusive; quiet; games and common areas for the guests; very quaint and a reasonable price.

• Eric (10/5): Above and beyond service - My boyfriend and I were in town from Seattle for a wedding and wanted to stay somewhere a little more charming than the big nearby chain hotel with the rest of the wedding guests. Upon entering into the lobby I knew we made a right choice - it just felt so homey and I knew our stay would be perfectly pleasant, and it was. Unfortunately, the wedding venue did not allow dogs, so we had to leave ours behind in our room. He normally does not mind being kenneled, even in a new place, for a few hours so we had no worries. This time was different however, and he became quite upset while we were gone. Our door was at the top of the main staircase and the regular foot traffic must have made him nervous and he ended up barking and crying for many hours while we were away. The wedding venue, being 10 miles out of town, had zero cell phone service, so we were completely unaware until we got back into town and heard the voicemails from the front desk. They were so kind about the situation, and even went into our room to play with him and try to calm him down. They provided a nice blanket to cover his kennel, which apparently helped a little. We were back before 10 pm, and felt so awful, but so very grateful to the staff for their attempts to soothe our little pup. So, in addition to the wonderful charming accommodations, the staff provided incredible service, far beyond what we ever expected. Would definitely stay again in the future, but will probably leave the dog with a sitter :)
• Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful large rooms with very comfortable beds and bedding. We loved the rooftop patio full of flowers and comfy places to sit with breakfast and coffee. Normally wouldn’t go for a Victorian style place to stay, but this was so well done and spacious. Highly recommend.
