- David (8/5): Different in the nicest way - very enjoyable. - Fascinating site and area history and most of the original structure and location apparent. Location worked extremely well and good walking around the immediate coastal area. Breakfast was excellent. Couple of minor technical hitches that were attended to promptly and courteously.

The location was quiet despite it being next to a boat maintenance shop. The breakfast cooked to order from 7 selections were done perfectly each day. We both developed some back issues from sleeping on a bed that is too soft. When we first moved into the room we noticed dust on the headboard of the bed and hairs stuck to the tiles of the shower. I reported this to the staff and requested this be fixed. They cleaned everything up immediately but it should not have happened. Someone did not do their job properly.

The formal breakfast area had real table service and the breakfast selections were delicious. Our room had a very comfortable bed and 2 comfortable chairs, and there’s a nice sitting room just outside with complementary coffee and cookies.

- Julie Ann (3/5): Poor accomodation for the cost. - Its a beautiful old country in. Great for walking the town. Good bed We had booked this room specifically for the bath tub. There was no plug. No bath!! Very upsetting. We checked in late there was no one to help. The room (Library) was very dated and in bad repair ( overhead lamp was damaged) it took me 20 minutes to figure out how to shut off the lights. They all had strange configurations. We had what was possibly the worst breakfast ever. The omelet was over cooked. The toast was like cardboard. Skimpy portions. Poor quality ingredients. The eggs benedict were not good. They used cheap ham and it was on some strange bun. Such poor value for the money. Over $300 for 1 night, that was after my genius discount. Don’t stay here.

The Inn obviously needs a massive cleaning on the inside and very obvious repairs needs to be done to windows ect. . The outside does not look anything like the pictures online . The back side of the deck where all the table and chairs are, looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in at least 2 years . The moss build up tells me thats it’s not just from one year . The exterior all around definitely needs attention . This place may have been great at one time , but from what I see now it has doesn’t reflect the photos they have listed
- Norma (5/5): Poor value for what you pay for. - The person that checked us in very kind and helped us with getting ice for the room. The infrastructure in the room were below standard. Old room that desperately needed updating. Tub could not be used because of old pumping according to the sign on the tub. Shower was dark and dingy smelling. The window screens on the windows were ill fitting and falling off. Could not take advantage of the breakfast as it started at 08:00 and we needed to leave to catch our flight by 07:30. We were given a muffin and juice box and granola bar.

You could hear everything in adjoining rooms, plus the washing powder they used was likely biological which caused my wife’s sensitive skin to flare up. Breakfast on the go was poor - fruit salad that was out of date.

As an older building, noise from other guests carried through the rooms. We were on the ground floor, The Library Suite, so right next to the dining room, and we could hear guests upstairs talking, walking and their TV late into the night. This wouldn't stop me from staying again. However, I would request an upstairs room next tome.Something to be aware of if you are a light sleeper.

The staff are kind and so helpful. The breakfast was delicious! In the evening I had a light meal in my room, delicious thin crust pizza, loaded with spinach and topped with cheese. Perfect with a glass of wine.
- Huber (7/5): A cozy stay. - The Latch Inn has a warm welcoming vibe. My (Library Suite) room was comfortable, clean and the oak panels on the walls gave the room a cozy feel. My room ( Library Suite) had a washroom that I have not seen since I visited my grandmother's house when I was ten years old. I had great concerns about the plumbing due to how dated the washroom was. I strongly recommend that The Latch Inn update the washroom in the Library Suite to at least the 21st Century.

The Inn itself is quiet and the location was quiet for the most part. The breakfast was delicious and the service was wonderful. Jas and Deeb provided great service. Very respectful and attentive staff. Would like to stay when it's not raining, as there is a nice open patio that would be enjoyable to sit and have a coffee/tea (or happy hour) on.

I highly recommend this hotel for those opting for a quieter area, still by the water, and for an old-fashioned setting.
- Katharyn (10/5): A hidden gem - Loved the history of the inn. The architecture was so beautiful. The room was very large and beautifully decorated. I stayed in the Governor's suite. Each window looked out onto an ocean view or garden view. The stairwell, which was beautiful, took me to the lovely dining room where I was served the most wonderful breakfast, which was included in the price! I was first able to taste the most delicious blueberry muffin, which they make from scratch. The menu gave a lovely choice of waffles, eggs Benny, two ways, bacon and eggs, or bagel with yogurt and fresh fruit. I chose bacon and eggs. Two poached eggs, two bacon, choice of toast (sourdough for me), and fresh fruit compote. A choice of juices and coffee or tea. 5-star absolutely. Upstairs, there was a sitting room that was breathtaking. The design was one of a kind for sure. The large windows looked across to the ocean. There is a charming little walkway out back of inn that takes you to a garden. The day was rainy, so I didn't get to really enjoy its full beauty. First and foremost, the staff are wonderful. Excellent hospitality given by all. This would be a wonderful place for a honeymoon couple or if you were celebrating an anniversary. I loved my stay here and would definitely come stay again. 5 star all the way! Thank you to The Latch Inn for a beautiful stay. Absolutely nothing!

- Stephen (9/5): Wonderful Seaside 100 yr old Inn - The 100 yr old Inn is very special in a wonderful location. Truly full of character. The staff were very attentive and accommodating. The facilities need some investment. The bathroom in our suite had paint peeling off the walls and the electrical outlet didn't work. At the price point, that wasn't acceptable. Luckily the overall charm of the Inn made some of those imperfections less dominant.

- carol (9/5): A charming, relaxing , well appointed inn - Wonderful stay. Relaxing in lounge with the fireplace and wine was so relaxing! Breakfast was plentiful and yummy.
- Garth (8/5): A pleasant stay. - Breakfast was very good served in an elegant little dining room by competent and polite staff. Not a dislike but a concern. The Latch Inn is a beautiful historic building and it should be owned and run by people who are ambassadors for its charm not by absentee owners. All of the excellent refurbishing done by previous owners in the early 2020s is being eroded.
- Susan (9/5): Peaceful with Historical charm - Beautiful B&B near the water, shops and restaurants. The historic Inn is well decorated and very peaceful. I would stay there again. Breakfast didn’t start early enough in the morning and I had a flight to catch. Although they pack me a breakfast the muffin was stale and packet of apple juice was mediocre.

- Christopher (4/5): Verify which room you are getting prior to booking, to avoid this major hassle. - Good location, terrific property. The room we were given smelled like a cats litter-box. An odor so intense that it could be detected outside the room. The host denied the smell, saying the room hadn't been used for awhile. She recommended opening the door to air it out, but I'd be letting the warmth out. I asked for another room, there wasn't one. So, I asked to cancel the reservation, which they approved, working with Booking.com for the return of funds. I am grateful that the proprietor let us out of the booking, but worry that someone after us will be stuck and be unable to get out of the reservation.

- Karen (9/5): Great place to - Great location, dog friendly, good breakfast. Eclectic Inn, just wish weather was a little better to enjoy the outdoor patio. We really enjoyed our stay in Sidney. For Vancouver Island was reasonably priced. Parking lot for our camper van. Seems the inn ignores the terms and conditions with Booking. Received confirmation directly from inn at a higher price than booking confirmation. This was resolved, but took at least a week. Secondly, even though Booking confirmation said no payment until two days prior to the stay, the inn immediately charged the amount of one night. Called booking and emailed the inn, but the prepayment (2 months before stay) was never refunded but was applied to final bill. Latch just said that was their policy. Lastly booking said cancellation was free up to 2 days before arrival. Latch confirmation said there was a $35CAD fee to cancel. Again response was it was the inns policy. We didn’t cancel, so not sure if charge would have happened or been refunded.

- Lynn (10/5): Enjoyed our stay - Quaint, English style decor! Nice location by the water! Host was very welcoming! Breakfast delicious Though the Inn was very clean the carpet in our suite was quite soiled
- Melanie (9/5): - Quaint and unique accommodation in a historical property, room and facilities were beautiful. Bathroom was older style in keeping with the property, so shower was awkward to use.
- Michael (10/5): - Greater older style house (was built in 1929 as the Lieutenant's mansion) with a large room (mine, the Library, anyway). There was a great breakfast in the morning with an actual menu.
- GardenKat (10/5): Historical Beauty, 100 years Old - We enjoyed two nights at The Latch Inn. Our room was smaller than the others, but very comfortable and we enjoyed reading about the history of this unique property while drinking delicious coffee in the beautiful common/living room area before breakfast. Sidney is just a short drive from the property and the quieter surroundings were a relief after busy Victoria.

- Jacqueline (5/5): Great for history buffs but don’t expect a pristine space - Loved the history of the building, especially the unique cabin architecture and the wood carvings. The two employees who we met seemed eager to help and were very apologetic about the issues we raised. Sad to see that the property was starting to show its age inside and out and that there were various things strewn outside and stored on decks. Lots of obvious dust and neglected corners. We think we got a rarely used suite (Library). We would not have stayed here if we had known we were going to be put in a pet-friendly room that had not been dusted (I started coughing immediately)

Unwanted and unnecessary furniture created clutter and restricted available space. Wallpaper and paint peeling evident. The hotel is in urgent need of modernisation and refurbishment and represents poor value for money in its present state.
