Guest Reviews
- Hilary (8/5): -
- Nicola (9/5): A truly relaxing stay. - Our stay was absolutely delightful, thanks to the upgraded room offering stunning views of the beach and ocean. The relaxing atmosphere at the bay bar, combined with delicious food and drinks, made for a truly special experience. Breakfast at Dune was a lovely, calm start to the day, setting the perfect tone. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, going above and beyond from check-in at reception to ensuring our needs for accessible parking and extra pillows were met. We couldn’t have asked for a better team!
- Mr A M Scott (9/5): Great hotel, despite the lack of air con. - Staff, Location, Hotel decor and Room view were amazing. Great place to stay and explore Fistral beach and Newquay. The only issue we had was our room temperature. In the middle of May where the outside temp was around 12 degrees C, the room temp was VERY warm, so much so that we had to sleep with the windows open all night to get some fresh cool air in. There was no other way of cooling the room as there is no air con in the rooms.
- Martina (10/5): Fantastic sea side retreat where you can watch surfers for hours ( or go for it yourself ). - I liked everything in the hotel and in my room with balcony and sea view. Room service - top. Restaurant and bar - top. Staff - top. Location close to beach - top. N/A
- Wes (10/5): Magical - Near to the beach close to the town centre perfect views
- Sameena (6/5): Comfortable at reasonable proce - Big room, comfortable bed. Pillows/cushions okay. Friendly staff. Great breakfast. Lack of communication between staff, disorganised and gym and spa not clean.

- Debbie (7/5): Great location, could do better in rooms/parking/restaurants - The location and view from the hotel is amazing - definitely the best part of staying in the hotel.
The young waiter (Ty) was so helpful, friendly and polite - best staff member of the stay for us.
The bathroom products were excellent and smelled lovely :) also good that the spa products were on display with samples to try.
The swimming pool and steam room were great. We didn't like being asked if we wanted to pay to upgrade our room - we normally stay in quality country house hotels and they would just upgrade automatically if they have rooms available.
Nowhere to put our 2 suitcases so we ended up leaving all our clothes in them and having them open on the floor which made it very tricky to get around and blocked the doorway. It would be better to have a bed with space underneath to store them.
Not enough room to store clothes even if you could take them out the suitcase, one small wardrobe with 3 hangers and a draw at the bottom and 2 bedside table drawers which is OK if you are only staying 1 nights.
No shower cap - come on guys, this is basic stuff for a hotel surely? luckily I always have a spare in my wash bag.
Hairdryer was useless, you need to upgrade them, it couldn't blow a fart away!
The sauna was out of use which is a shame.
The parking is not great, not enough and there were several vans taking up a lot of space and making it difficult to park, but understandable given it's location.
The Bay Bistro we only dined in once as the staff took our drinks order and then went home, although the other staff member pulled it back by not charging for the drinks because of the delay and he was fab, but the food was average at best. I had the Croque Monsieur (which I've had many times) and it was cold and not enjoyable at all.
We did eat in the main restaurant one night but the food was average and in my opinion overpriced for the quality - we dined the rest of our stay in the neighbouring hotel (Headland Hotel) and that food was definitely worth every penny and much better dining experience, you should pay them a visit!
- Michal (6/5): The room and the hotel is clean but the spa is very small and not very clean so I didn’t use it very much and was not - The rooms are clean and the hotel is clean but they spa is very small and not very clean The restaurant they make amazing food and the staff is very friendly and professional 👍
- Slingo (9/5): Good spa hotel. - Good view. Nice food. Friendly staff. Bed was mad of two single beds. So a pronounced ridge in the middle.
- Matthew (9/5): -

- Paige (8/5): Lovely - Lovely Hotel. Views of fistral beach to die for! Only issue we had was the radiator didnt work in our room and was very cold both nights. Did report to reception but no one came to fix.
- Clair (10/5): Absolutely loved my stay at the Fistral Beach Hotel & Spa! The location is just amazing with the most stunning views - Absolutely loved my stay at the Fistral Beach Hotel & Spa! The location is just amazing with the most stunning views over Fistral Beach 🌊 The beaches are absolutely incredible — beautiful sand, amazing scenery and so relaxing to walk along.
The spa is beautiful, so peaceful and the perfect place to unwind. Waking up to the sound of the sea and watching the sunset from the hotel was incredible.
I honestly didn’t want to leave and even extended my stay because I was enjoying it so much! The staff were fantastic throughout — friendly, welcoming and couldn’t do enough to help. They even kept me in the same room when I extended, which made everything so much easier.
Such a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere from start to finish. Can’t wait to come back again!
- peter (1/5): Couldn’t wait to leave - Didn’t have breakfast as I just didn’t feel
Comfortable in the hotel Poor room and bathroom window didn’t close just dated and tired
- Jacqueline (10/5): Very relaxing, we loved the wonderful sea view - Good sized room, comfortable bed, shower was great and the breakfast delicious Limited parking
- Johan (6/5): -
- Christfried (9/5): Hallo Ferienstimmung!
- coly2013 (6/5): Lovely Location but - We stayed at this hotel in April. The room was nice with sea views but the radiator didn't work.
We booked a 3 course meal in the restaurant with a glass of wine each. The music sounded Indian and would be more appropriate in that type of restaurant.
The bread was excellent. It was homemade sourdough and corniche scone with clotted cream butter.
I had a ham hock and chicken terrine and my wife Bream with ratatouille. These were both excellent.
By the main course we were getting cold. Curtains separated off various areas which meant staff were hidden. The staff were efficient but didn't make the evening special.
My wife's main course was duck breast which was excellent.
Unfortunately my meal was cod. They made a ring of a rather bland sauce, filled it with melted butter (butter noisette) and placed the cod in the middle. The veg was a stalk of cauliflower (cauliflower coral). Hardly a complete meal so we paid extra for new potatoes (small boiled old potatoes).
The sweet menu was limited so my wife and I both had tiramisu. This comprised of sponge fingers, coffee ice cream and thick cream.
It was too cold to finish out wine so we left it to go back to our cold room.
A visit to reception generated an oil filled radiator with the promise of our radiator being fixed the next day.
Later we visited the Espanade Hotel to listen to folk/ country singers. They were excellent but unfortunately the room was cold. It was then we discovered the two hotels are owned by the same group.
We stayed in the Espanade a few years ago and we then recalled the same experience with a cold room and similar restaurant experience.
Breakfast the next morning was excellent although we did have a cold reception from one of the waiters from the previous night. The music was lovely, varied popular music from the sixties onward.. The fresh fruit and yoghurt was lovely especially with the buck fizz Italian sparkling wine. I had egg royale and my wife egg avocado. Finished with cappuccino and chocolate croissants. I recommend you use the right hand coffee machine the lefthand one is awful.
Went in the spa around lunch time when it was relatively empty. It was very nice. A nice couple we met there found the restaurant food poor and had a cold room because their bedroom radiator also didn't work.
We had a smashing 3 course evening meal at the Lewenwick Hotel on the Pentire Headland.
That evening we had to ask again about the radiator because it still was not working.
Breakfast the next day was lovely although once again the staff could be more friendly in the restaurant.
The location for this hotels is fantastic especially if you have a sea view but expect problems with heating and only stay for bed and breakfast.
O, finally expect a 10% surcharge on your bill for the restaurant. In view of our experience we asked for it to be cancelled. An extra £13.20 on a £132 bill was just too much.
The receptionist said the heating was on a time clock.

- Mati (10/5): An incredible, relaxing stay! Would highly recommend to anyone. - I absolutely loved the views from our room, tub and shower - completely unmatched and worth it just for that! But also loved the bar & location! It’s just 20min walk into town and accessible to many pretty coastal walks. Rachel, my massage therapist, also was great.
- Hayley (8/5): Relaxing, romantic and excellent value for money! - The room was perfect. Not so much didn’t like but would have been nice if more seating around the pool
- GEOFF (5/5): - Good location spa facilities very good. Terrible breakfast and poor coffee and service.
Sea view rooms can be simply a small window. Doesn't feel special for the price. Parking squashed and tricky.7
- shadsylady87 (8/5): Wonderful return stay - We returned to Fistral for a two‑night stay, hoping to unwind from our busy work life in London and escape the heat back in Kent — and once again, it didn’t disappoint. Every member of staff was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely attentive.
We booked full‑body massages and were looked after by Sophie and Amilie, who were both incredibly skilled. It was exactly what we needed to reset and relax.
The hotel team — restaurant, housekeeping, and spa — all made the stay feel effortless. The food was amazing, just as we remembered from our first visit.
Our package included a 10% discount on GAIA products, but this wasn’t acknowledged at reception when we asked about it during checkout, which was disappointing and the reason for giving one less star.
- Diana (6/5): -
- Sandor (8/5): -
- Alexander (8/5): - Die Lage ist toll. Das Frühstück ist vielseitig und das Essen im Restaurant und in der Bar ist gut Das personal an der Rezeption ist nicht sehr freundlich
- Ellen (9/5): -
- Zoia (5/5): Better to find another hotel. - Good view from the hotel on Fistral beach. And that’s all.
Not convenient and not logical that you need to book time for breakfast. No salmon ir meat or vegetables on the preakfast, not tasty cooked eggs.
Despite restaurant is working till 9pm, at 8:15 the kitchen is already closed.
Small SPA, not recommended.
Old equipment in gym and very noisy people in gym and pool. Only view on Fistral beach.
- Kathryn (5/5): A great location but a terrible nights sleep. - The location and staff were lovely with the bonus of a well supplied spa. The room was too hot, even with all windows open and a fan running. The pool water jets were not working.
- 425leef (6/5): Ok poor food portions - Hotel in a nice location I had dinner the first time I stayed here. The menu is rather confusing the size of the portion, especially the pork which is no bigger than a Wrist watch dial was meant to be a main course it would find itself better on a taste of menu. The food at breakfast was a good . I wouldn't eat her again as there's a far better place along the beach called the Fish House which I can thoroughly recommend. I have used the spa and the swimming pool downstairs and the sauna unfortunately this is full of local people if you come away as a cozy couple or alone businessman you feel quite isolated and not inclusive. Rooms that I have stayed in quite basic the last one I had overlooked a rear yard, which was extremely hot slept with the window open all night and as there's no AC and it was very noisy.
- Jessica (6/5): Disappointing - Friendly staff, good service
Good breakfast
Good range of toiletries Extremely overpriced for a tiny, basic box room, cheaply decorated, no different to a Premier Inn room but three times the price. Plus surprise £50 deposit on check in put me in my overdraft. Booked because photos appear to show a terrace areas with sofas and wanted a place to chill for the day, infact just a couple of chairs at the edge of the car park, ended up on the public beach anyway so could have stayed anywhere. I imagine only worth it if you get one of the few sea facing rooms with a balcony, top floor only, otherwise stay literally anywhere else in Newquay for half the price. Extended my trip last minute due to having a great time, stayed in two other amazing hotels, but really regretted this waste of money and it spoiled my trip. Would be fine if it was WAY cheaper, although still a 25 min walk into town for food.
I want to thank the manager for doing what they could, their service was great, it’s just a shame this hotel is so well marketed online and it’s misleading. See pic of view from The new room I was moved to.
- Cheryl (10/5): I would recommend staying here for friendly service, and a quiet place to relax. - Great location, loved waking up to see the ocean right out of our window. Not close to shops and restaurants but was perfect if you just want to unwind.
- Tracey (5/5): For the money awful room - Area was nice We had a standard room £200 one night no breakfast included none of there pictures were on internet at booking only rooms with big windows window were tiny opened 2 inches room was red hot little air con plug in was noisy god help summer months in this room

- Bradt (9/5): A very enjoyable and comfortable stay enhanced by the really lovely staff and location. - The staff were all fantastic -- without exception friendly and helpful. My massage was wonderful -- a real treat, and the location overlooking Fistral Beach was superb. Dinner was also excellent. I resented paying for parking in the hotel's own carpark and I was surprised that breakfast wasn't included in the quite high room price. A full breakfast was expensive so we settled for continental but the choice here was poor.
- Sophia (9/5): -
- Erin (5/5): Wouldn’t go back. - Could see the sea Dirty windows, broken off bits in the bathroom. Dated rooms, dusty bed. The pillows for the outdoor seats were covered in bird poo.
Balcony was filthy.
Breakfast was overpriced and the avocado came pre made with chilli flakes in.
- Emma (10/5): -
- charliej669 (8/5): A gorgeous one night stay - Absolutely gorgeously decorated hotel with the most attentive, kind staff. The spa is great however no loungers to chill on which I did miss and naturally reduced the amount of time we spent in the spa.
We had the three course meal which was perfect. Delicious meat and vegetarian food and lovely wine.
The view is gorgeous and the location is great. There is a small corner shop about a 15 minute walk up past the golf course, it’s uphill but a fairly easy route.
The hotel room was perfect, it was very modern and decorated perfectly.
We had a wonderful one night stay and would certainly stay again. Nothing felt too much for the staff and it was brilliant.
The spa itself was lovely however the changing rooms felt a lot less than 3*. Some of the lockers didn’t lock properly, the showers felt quite basic and so were the facilities or therelack of. For a 5* spa hotel it would’ve been nice for the luxury to extend to the changing rooms too.
- Romilly (10/5): -
- Yat Tao (8/5): Quite relaxing - Friendly staffs, nice views, quite quiet at night It’s good overall except one of the room’s telephone was broken couldn’t use it to contact for room service and the noice from the air conditioner or sth outside it were making quite a bit of noise disturbed my parents sleep quality.
- Walker (8/5): A very relaxing venue. - The view of Fistral Beach
Relaxing
But most of all was the staff. They were superb and fully understood the concept of Customer Service. Great recruitment!! Bedroom 105 was Cold !!!
- Meghan (8/5): Hotel was lovely food not so good. - The bedrooms were very nice and comfortable with big beds. The spa was lovely. The food was not the best- breakfast was cold.
The steak was very fatty and when sent back was told this was just the cut. So had to go for a pizza on which I would not of chosen for what quality food I wanted.
- Jemma (8/5): -
- Christie (6/5): Average, perfect location, overpriced food and drink. - The location and small birthday gesture. The cleanliness of the hotel was decor was gorgeous. The rooms were small and standard compared to what is shown online. The balcony room was an expensive upgrade and just had some chairs chucked on, not placed nicely. I liked the hotel but would look for a different one next time. The spa was standard, tiny pool and hotub. No loungers to relax on. Minimal seating.no relaxing music.
- Heather (5/5): - How close it was to the beach was really the only good thing. The noise was really bad from reception and the bar at night. Didn't get a lot of sleep.
Food wasn't very good and overpriced
The spa facilities were tired and old. Hot tub was not relaxing at all and felt like being assaulted!
Shower in the spa by steam didn't work
Spa facilities was much smaller than anticipated.
Overall very poor experience
- Lance (8/5): -
- Celisha (10/5): We love this place - Such good value for money ! - We love the spa and pool - Sauna jacuzzi - breakfast is amazing! Infact we just live this hotel! The location and the staff are fabulous! Nothing is too much trouble!
- Curious691512 (4/5): Below Expectations in Cleanliness, Comfort, and Value - I booked a stay at Fistral Beach Hotel for our anniversary, expecting something special given the price of £230 for one night. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing and not worth the long 5-hour drive from London.
We had mentioned in advance that it was our anniversary, and while we did receive a card, there was no gesture beyond that—no complimentary drink such as wine or champagne, which is something we’ve always received at other hotels for similar occasions. It felt like a missed opportunity to make the stay feel special.
The room itself was well below standard. The bed was advertised as a double but was very small and uncomfortable, and the room overall felt cramped and far smaller than expected. It did not feel like good value for the price we paid.
Cleanliness was a major issue. The bed sheets were visibly stained upon arrival, and the bed base was absolutely filthy. We were genuinely uncomfortable and ended up using our own blankets to sleep. Under the bed was full of dust, suggesting it hadn’t been cleaned properly in quite some time.
The bathroom was also unacceptable, with visible stains left in the toilet on arrival, which is simply unhygienic and should never happen in a hotel of this price.
There was also a noticeable gap under the room door, which affected both privacy and comfort.
Overall, this stay did not meet expectations in terms of cleanliness, comfort, or value for money. For the price charged, I would expect a much higher standard. Sadly, I would not recommend this hotel and would not return.
- Brian (3/5): This time it was poor - Location Broken shower & given the wrong bed which was terrible
- Chardonay (2/5): Disappointing Anniversary Stay at Fistral Beach - Nothing I booked a stay at Fistral Beach Hotel for our anniversary, expecting something special given the price of £230 for one night. - 423jacquig (10/5): Refreshed and pampered - Warm welcome, very comfortable room with a beautiful sea view. Breakfast delicious. Spa facilities enhanced the stay and we left feeling relaxed and refreshed. Thank you to all the friendly staff, all very helpful and polite and very soothing atmosphere. Definitely recommend. Thank to you all, Jacqui and Andy Govier
- Rajeev (9/5): Excellent Value for money and also very professional place. Spa additionally was good - Breakfast, Room Bed was not done post checkin. Had to do that again
- franklV957YT (10/5): Lovely hotel - Wonderful hotel, stayed with friends for a week. It's a shame we had to leave.
- alex (7/5): Nice stay, good location, room was a bit disappointing - Location was excellent. Breakfast was lovely. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Room was on the ground floor and felt stuffed off to the side as we had to go through the bar to access the room which wasn’t ideal and shower in the bedroom was a bit crap. Gym was pretty poor.
- Alison (8/5): Lovely views, staff and room as well as bar area etc. Spa a little disappointing. - Loved the location, bar area / drinks and all food and staff were lovely.
Parking was tight in front car park sometimes! Spa was a little disappointing- hot tub was boiling?! Showers both not working on the Sat pm and the steam out of action on one of the days- which was a shame. Rest of facilities were great! See above please!
- Karin (8/5): -
- Geoffrey (9/5): Brilliant but if they call you they should do what they say - We have been there before and we loved it that’s why we went back Before we arrived I had a call to ask if I needed anything or allergies .I asked the gentleman I spoke to do they do skimmed milk as that is all I can have . Yes he said I will put some in your room for you . When I got there it wasn’t there and apparently they have none on the premises . So that is the only expectation that was at fault .

- Dominique (10/5): -

Staff are so kind, friendly and helpful. Birthday card on my bed when I arrived! Facilities are excellent. Lovely pool. Food is great. Bed really comfortable, slept very well. Stunning view. Will definitely be back for more. Second stay at this exceptional hotel. Can't rate highly enough! Nothing I didn't like.
- Vallance (9/5): - Everything about my stay. No comment all good
- tdids81 (10/5): Run...don't walk to book your stay.... - I have just returned from my 24 hour solo spa escape at Fistral and I feel like a new woman! From the moment you step through the door to a warm welcome you know you have arrived somewhere special.
The bay bar has a calm, chill vibe that instantly makes you feel comfortable, lunch looking over fistral beach with a glass of prosecco is a great start and it only got better from there.
I had the most amazing hot stone Massage with Katie and she eased away aches and pains I didn't even realise I had, relaxing in the spa just helped to clear my mind after my body had a reset.
My room with a seaview and a balcony was such a treat and the weather was kind enough to allow me an hour sat on the balcony with a book and a coffee.
Dinner was absolutely incredible, Jack gives a warm friendly welcome and runs the coolest restaurant with the most delicous food, (chefs kiss to every single course) service was very efficent while still keeping the chill vibe of the hotel...utter perfection!!
Cocktails in bay bar after, a friendly chat with Ella, a great nights sleep and delicious breakfast the next morning has sent me home feeling like a new woman.....thanks Fistral...until next time.

- Jess De Las Alas (9/5): - Helpful and friendly staff. We had a lovely break. The breakfast is always exceptional. None.
- Karen B (10/5): A special stay in surfer paradise - The view from the third floor seaview balcony bedroom - unbelievable 🏄🏻♀️. We spent so much time just surfer spotting from our vantage point - with a strong coffee and the most delicious, melt in your mouth, shortbread biscuits that were provided. We really enjoyed the breakfast and bar facilities. We didn't use the Spa or have an evening meal within the venue. Breakfast and Bar staff were very friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble. Fistral Beach Hotel is on our list of places to revisit 😎 The pictures were taken on two separate days - weather changed constantly throughout our stay. The lift was slow and small, for such a large establishment. We did manage to park in the hotel car park each night (just) and imagine that this could be problematic in busier months. There is a compromise in choosing this venue for its views or easy access into Newquay town centre - we used taxi services throughout our stay as the view/scenery was our priority. The pillows were too hard for me.
- Lord (10/5): - The hotel and the staff were lovely
- Neil (8/5): Loved the hotel and where it was sighted - The room we had was of ample size with a king size bed, and the view from the balcony was stunning the breakfast which was a full english on both days was excellent on the first day but it was not very good on the second day, if I wasn’t sceptical I would say it was left over from Saturday and just re heated. The staff in both the bar area and the restaurant were exceptional, they couldn’t do enough for myself and my wife. Not very disabled oriented, only one disabled parking spot and getting to the check in desk from outside you needed to scale stairs and once you were checked in you needed to go up even more steps. However the staff were exceptional with acknowledging my wife’s disability and ensured she was well looked after.
- Debbie (10/5): - Lovely room. Sea view. The spa could be kept cleaner.
- Kayleigh (8/5): - The view, the food and could not fault any of the staff 🙂 The decaff coffee from the machine is terrible! And the one for the morning is not good enough
A waiter kindly gave me a cafeteria of Decaf which was lovely
Near are room at night someone door kept banging on and off up until the early hours

- libsmithson (10/5): Excellent hotel for adults - Great hotel for adults. Fab location. Beds super comfy and gd sized rooms. We gad lovely sea view even in Feb was lovely to look out onto fistral beach to watch brave surfers. Neil, breakfast manager, and Callum were so friendly and helpful, really made us feel relaxed and welcome. Really enjoyed our 2nd stay here. We will definitely return next year. Just a pity its a 700 mile round trip for us by car. Worth every mile x
- Kay (9/5): - Would highly recommend this hotel. All aspects of their service, and delivery are wonderful.

- George (3/5): DON'T TAKE YOUR CAR AND BRING YOUR OWN BEDDING - The Hotel is in a beautiful location and Was one of of the best hotels in Newquay. But how things have changed in February 2026
You now get hidden charges for parking and the carpets in the rooms filthy dirty and the bedding made me itch for days afterwards.
They don't tell you about the £60 a day parking that is sent on as a bill following your departure.
