Guest Reviews
- Cecilia (10/5): -
- Joshua (8/5): - It was ok bit just had a sheet to cover up with and the bed you cld feel the springs, very uncomfortable killed us
- Hempel (2/5): Very poor -
- John (2/5): - I was not accepted at hotel during check in. I was told I had a prior incident in 2019 there. I told him I had never been to Hunting in my life. He didn’t care and told me Expedia would reimburse me—- that never happened. I had to get a room on my own at Econo Lodge down the street———Very dissatisfied
- John (1/5): Bad -
- Bonnie (8/5): - The man that checked us in was very nice and told us an easier and shorter way to get on the interstate.
- Peter (4/5): as above - price and location The room was very cold and the heater never really warmed it up. The sink didn't drain and the clerk said it was because the pipes were frozen. Should have had some preheated rooms set up.
- Breanna (6/5): Pleasant - Cheap price. Burn holes in the curtains, and bed sheets from cigarettes.
- Joy (8/5): Very good -
- Charles (10/5): - Maybe the best Mo6 I've ever stayed at.
- MC (10/5): - Very convenient and affordable.
- Andrew (4/5): - The website did not match what we told by the person behind the counter when she finally came out of the office. We were not informed of a few after we had already booked the room. We were told after we paid the room and we checked out it would be given back, once we checked out we were told it would be returned in 4 or 5 business days. The rooms were small, no bedside lamps, only the bigger lights. There was nowhere to store food or to heat up food if we were hungry. The bathroom was very small, could barely turn around in the bathroom without hitting the door or a wall we will not be returning to this establishment.
- M (7/5): Good - Large, clean room with a comfy bed.
Front desk clerk was quite friendly.
Would stay again
- Cansler (10/5): Exceptional - Had a great stay Everything about the staff professional
- Deloris (9/5): Home away from Home - 2nd stay within last 3 months. Motel is old but my room was clean and cooled down both times. 1st visit place was crowded with Nucor workers but surprisingly quiet, no issues. Recent visit, few guests until weekend and very quiet, other than traffic, which I knew of ahead of time. Employees remembered me, asked me if I needed anything, and always greeted me kindly when I was out and about. Simple room that did the job. Bed was comfy. Coffee pot in room would be nice but that would raise cost, I imagine. I just brought my own instead. A bedside lamp or wall sconce above bed would be nice.
- Vandyke (3/5): It was just ok for a one night stay but no more than one night. - It was right beside the road. Door hard to open with card. No small fridge, really nothing in room except bed and bathroom and tv.
- Nathaniel (10/5): - Very happy with my stay here.
- Jerry (8/5): - It was ok. Nice large room
- Angela (10/5): - It was great
- Deborah (7/5): Good stay that could add more amenities - Quiet, no noise/disturbances! Definitely not having a fridge in our room, as well as a coffee pot. In order to get a fridge, our room would have to be upgraded of course there’s a up charge. Otherwise, the stay was good.
- Thelma (3/5): Poor - A lot of noise like something running and another noise that sounded like ice being poured or something. Could not sleep. Very disturbing all night
- Lesley (7/5): Convenient and cheap. - We needed a convenient place to stay that was cheap and this fitted the bill. It was on a main road so traffic was noisy although keeping the air conditioning on helped drown it out. Very friendly young lady on reception. I haven’t had my fifty dollars deposit back yet so I shall wait and see before updating. Very large room and bed. Shower did not work and no plug for the bath so had to rely on a good old fashioned wash! Noisy due to road outside.
- Roosevelt (1/5): Bad - Nothing at all they got roaches and rats
- Nichols (7/5): This hotel served the purpose for what we needed and the price was reasonable. - There was a clean smell when you walk through the door. The AC felt wonderful on a 90 plus degree day! I liked the flooring as opposed to carpet in a lot of hotels. The bed was hard and not very comfortable. There was no coffee pot in the room or hair dryer. The stairwell needs to be updated. A good cleaning of the stairwell and some paint would be a major accomplishment and make the place look better for people coming in from out of state.
- Willoughby (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melvin (8/5): Very good -
- Hope (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jane (6/5): Pleasant -
- Beverly (4/5): Disappointing - Comfortable bed. No hot water to take a shower.
- Paul (8/5): - I liked that the staff knew what they were doing and were very willing to assist me when they were needed.
- Donna (2/5): - We hated the room. Couldn’t get internet connection. Ended up leaving with promised refund
- Carmalena (2/5): bad - booked rooms online for last min stay due to emergency. when arrive was told our rooms was on upper floor and no elevator. at booking i said we need a room for a wheelchair. so ended up leaving without a refund because they said we couldnt get one.
- Olivia (10/5): - The lady at the front desk was really nice. I got there later then I was supposed to due to my gps taking me in circles.
- Miller (10/5): Good Value For Money - We had a great experience with hotel. When other hotels wouldn't let us stay because of being local they were very kind and accommodated us. Check in was very easy, the rooms were very clean and all the staff were very friendly. We will definitely be renting a room from them in the future.
- Amy (10/5): Great value - This Motel 6 was in the right place at the right time,
so we opted to try it out. The girl at the front desk was super friendly and helpful. Check in was simple. The room was
clean, you can tell the hotel was old but
recently renovated. For the price it was
an excellent value.
- beckysT7888RN (2/5): Terrible experience finding crystal meth and no refund when I checked out at 10 pm - Found crystal meth velcroed under a chair. Called police. Hotel wouldn’t give me a refund. Was yelling and threatening to charge extra because a couple of cousins stopped by to play on PlayStation with us. We left and went another hotel. This place needs shut down.
- Terrie (1/5): Will never stay there again. - Close to town The bathroom was almost to small to use there was no microwave or small fridge and no storage place for clothing television totally outdated
- Michael (8/5): Very good value for the money - Very friendly staff Hotel sign in the middle of the parking lot
- Miller (9/5): Superb -
- Roger (4/5): - Room
- Michael (10/5): - Basic room. Bathroom design so-so. Parking space so-so.. Everything else is good.
- Bertrand (8/5): Very good - It was clean and quiet No amenities
- Hopkins (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ericka (2/5): - We checked in and went to the room to find it did not have jacuzzi like it was suppose to. Went back down and the front desk worker was super rude and at one point called me a liar as I was showing her what we reserved. I told her I would take it up with Expedia. We then got a call in the room that we had 3 choices. Leave on our own, be made to leave, or stay and be charged double. We left and demanded a refund. Worst experience ever.
- Mark (2/5): Disaster - Checked in the room was not as advertised switched rooms because a heater was not working the bed had body glitter on the sheets and the pillows were dirty the room also smelled of body odor smoke and just plain old funk. Got refunded after the clerk shrugged off the room’s condition and argued that the room was clean. Go at your own risk!
- Anonymous (6/5): Pleasant -
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- John (10/5): Great value - Quick, easy check-in. Courteous staff and clean rooms, close to the road but quiet inside with no road traffic disturbances.
- Anonymous (4/5): Disappointing -
- Leslie (5/5): Passable -
- Ronald (2/5): Never again - I will NEVER go back I booked a dining room got a non smoking room and it was freezing outside and our room was so cold ur feet can't even walk on the floor our room was freezing and the next morning we complained and after 3pm we got it into a smoking room that was so perfect I just feel like I should have been put there in the 1st place
- Moore (4/5): Disappointing -
- Shannan (4/5): - Upon check in the front desk lady was very rude. Room was clean and as to be expected. Pillows were very then and uncomfortable. Area around the hotel was pretty shady. Check out was at 11...at 10:45 we get a knock on the door from house keeping. We inform her that we were still there and that we were packing up and would be out shortly. She then responds with "you have 5 minutes or you will be charged another day and won't be refunded your deposit." Was not happy about being rushed out. Then when we go to turn in the key, the front desk lady (same as the night before front desk), found out she was also the housekeeping, shouts at me from the 2nd floor to come back up to my room, where she then proceeds to look through the room with me standing there. Unreal. I have never had to do this at any place I have ever stayed.
- Moore (3/5): Poor -
- Lloyd (10/5): - .
- Sherri (10/5): - A budget, pet friendly, clean room and good service is what I look for when travelling and this scores a 5 for me. Front desk was great! I had trouble with the key card and was moved to a different room right away. Both rooms were clean. The shower was perfect, easy to use and water temperature and pressure were perfect. Linen, floors, fridge were all clean. On my way to visit family I just needed a place to sleep. As previous reviewers have mentioned, you can hear the traffic, but that doesn't bother me. When I travel, I'm lucky to be awake 5 minutes after my head hits the pillow (which had better be clean and fresh!). This is not an upscale place... if you are looking for that, go elsewhere. But if you want sleep in a clean room and you want to feel safe and don't want to spend an arm and a leg to do it, then this is the place. If there are issues, you want friendly staff who treats you like a valued customer. I have two routes I can use to get to my destination; I will go out of my way to stay here next time I travel. Side note: I have travelled with my pets, staying at Motel 6 for over 20 years. This place takes a deposit which is something new for me. I don't like it, but I understand the reasons. My dogs are well trained so my deposit isn't at risk, but I know that isn't the case with all travelers and the owner has to protect his investment. One thing to consider about the room is to place the desk near an outlet. I would like to be able to plug in my laptop.
- Gleny (2/5): - There was alot of mosquitoes in the room, i got bit like 11 times by them
- James (6/5): - No fridge or microwave in room
- Kyra (7/5): Good - came outside and atmosphere felt safe no real breakfast
- Duane (6/5): Pleasant -
- Foster (10/5): - Friendly Staff
- Gordon (4/5): Disappointing -
- Tommy (3/5): Poor -
- Lottig (1/5): I didn't get to stay and was very inconvenient and slept on my bike all night - The facility is clean but your staff keeps refusing service hiding under a right to refuse service and is a US crime to discriminate against public accommodations, and I reserved an accommodations he refused to service and refunded back my money Their attitude you ,you must have a good attitude with hospitality positions theirs million people in the world in line for the position ,and exclaimed by their department it's against the us laws to private a facility that's for public accommodations.
- Heather (8/5): - Hotel is dated. In a not so great area of town. Cheap rates and the staff was really friendly and helpful
- Brittani (4/5): Disappointing -
- Cristie (4/5): Disappointing -
- Matt (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jonathan (10/5): Nice basic clean accommodations - We checked in quickly and efficiently. The room was recently renovated and was very clean and had new laminate flooring which feels very clean as opposed to carpet.
- Mary (2/5): - I have never been so disrespected and talked down in my life. We had to stay here because of our house burnt. And the people that worked there are heartless and cold. And told me that i could have 3 children in my room only two. It was just a horrible experience. I give them negative 5 stars. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!
- Rick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amy (8/5): Nice affordable place to stay with a convenient location - Convenient location, clean room, friendly staff, they allow locals to book a room
- Michael (1/5): Very bad. - Didn’t know they had a breakfast. Location near the freeway. Didn’t know they had a breakfast. Location near the freeway. didn’t like the problem checking in on the booking price as mentioned. And the fact that I was eating alive by insects.
- Corey (2/5): Awful don’t waste your money - This place is awful dirty really needs to be shut down
- Jessica (10/5): - Thank you
- Pat (8/5): - Clean affordable room, super helpful front desk guy, and a convenient location.
- J. Michael (4/5): -
- Matthew (2/5): - I come out at 10 58 to put a couple things in the car. Guy says in 2 minutes I'm keeping your deposit. Not only did he steal my deposit he was aggressive and rude at check in. This place run by trashy people with service skills. They're theives
- Stephanie (10/5): - The new owners were very courteous and accommodating.
- Caroline (4/5): - It was very horrible stay the room was nasty there was mold roaches burns on the bedding the door looked like someone had kicked it
- Robert (8/5): - Hot tub was awesome. Very nice area.
- Andrea (2/5): Nightmare - Room was dirty. Old used soap bars on the bath tub blood on the sheets cigarette burns all over the bed spread tables were all sticky floor was not swept. Bathroom door would not latch towels were dirty and no toliet paper in the room.
- Verified traveler (2/5): No customer servic - The agent inside the office was nothing but rude and judgmental towards me and my girlfriend. And when I went to ask for quarters for the laundromat he again was rude, and unhelpful. I will not be staying again.
- Francis (6/5): - I stay @ Motel 6 b/c they permit my dog. I've stayed @ this location 4x. I've seen cockroaches, footprints on the floor, burns in the sheets and more. It's a place to lay your head for < $75/night.
Every check-in required the assistance from a 2nd person from the mysterious back room. They always need my ID. I expect booking through Expedia should expedite the check-in process. I wish that part was smoother too.
- Amy (2/5): - The room was the dirtiest room I’ve ever booked. Holes in the wall, the sheets looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in forever. And the faceplate on the bathroom light switch was exposed for anything to get electrocuted. I will never ever recommend this place to anyone, and now be Leary if any place in Huntington to stay.
- Elizabeth (2/5): - Where to even start? The floors had not been swept in months, there was hair in the bathtub (NOT MINE),we had half full toilet paper roll that was in a puddle of water in the floor beside the tub. There were blood stains on the walls, as well as on the comforters. It is a no smoking hotel but there were ashes everywhere in the room.I do not believe the comforters have ever been washed just sprayed with fabric refresher but that only works so long. When I checked in, my reservation was for a king bed downstairs, with coffee maker. I got a double bed room, upstairs, with no coffee maker(there are no coffee makers at this hotel now because of people stealing them the hotel refuses to replace them). Then the lady tried to charge me $13.43 even though the whole stay was already paid for. She could not tell or show me what this charge was for, and I refused to pay it, she said I could ask the owner when I checked out It was there because she changed my room to a double beds room.... Why would I pay for this change I did not want or ask for? Luckily I travel with my own cleaning supplies, and I understand stand this isn't a 5 star hotel but cleanliness should be anywhere a person stays, especially with COVID out there, they say they us COVID cleaning checklist, but if that was true then I wouldn't be writing this long review, that checklist would have taken care of most of the complaints in this review. There was no one in office when we checked out so I was not able to complain in person.
- Eddie (2/5): - This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Sheets were dirty, bathroom trash can was not emptied, curtains had dirty stains. In short, this room is filthy dirty! Plus shower was just little warmer than cold water! I booked for three nights, end up checking out after second night. Both night I slept in my coats. At the end at checking out, the front desk person gave me hard time for early checking out… Expedia should not have listed this kind of hotel on their website!
- Hannah (4/5): - Very run down, blankets had holes in them, mold in the shower and no hot water. I just needed to sleep for the one night but if i go back the west Virginia never going back to this motel
- Verified traveler (2/5): Unforgettable Cold Night...Indeed! - It was a let-down stay in this motel compared to stay in any other Motel 6, or other comparable places I had ever been! Given the price rate, I of course did not expect luxurious treats from this motel but at least a basic and decent stay. But what a disappointing moment I had!
I checked in late around 9:30-10pm due to my long trip. The staff was pleasant and friendly, and she gave me a King Size non-smoking room on the ground level as ordered. I found out later, in that room almost NONE of the things worked as supposed to be: the heater did NOT heat up the room at all after one-hour+ later (I turned it to the highest auto heat setting); the TV did not turn on (a handyman tried to fix it but failed); the ceiling fan inside the restroom was so noisy; the faucet on the sink was wobbly; the caulking and plastering on the wall/floor were rough; I wouldn't be surprised if the refrigerator and ironing kit were not working --- the list is too long here.
At around 11:30pm, after wearing double-jacket plus sweat-hoody jacket and still shivering from that cold room (the weather outside was in the 20's Fahrenheit degree, snowy that week), I was moved to a 2nd floor double-bed room. I was really not happy with the whole ordeal!
- cathy (8/5): - It was cheap
- Sasha (2/5): Awful - First room smelled so bad of smoke i couldn’t walk in it without getting sick.
I got to switch to the next one an it was so strong of air freshener to block the smell it was just as bad.
Holes in the wall an sink stopped up. Bed was disgusting with stains, dirt, an god knows what else.
- Melissa (6/5): - Not friendly
- Ashley (2/5): Don’t stay here! Go anywhere else! - The positives were no bugs & it didn’t smell like smoke.
The Negatives everything else. This room was the dirtiest I’ve ever stayed in bloody boogers an the walls, the toilet didn’t have a lid, no windows at all, but somehow still loud. I don’t think the room I stayed in is legal, it felt like they threw 2 beds in a storage room & added a bathroom. Not even a hook in the bathroom for a towel. All of the towels had huge stains on them. The door didn’t have the privacy lock & the extra lock was screwed in with flimsy screws.
- Kevin (2/5): Refused to give me the room I booked - The add said pet friendly. I told them I had two dogs. When I got there the refused my stay as my 60 pound dogs were too big. This was unacceptable and put me in a very bad spot as I had to scramble to find another hotel or just go home. Horrible way to do business.
- Elizabeth (4/5): Non accessible - The hotel room door didnt lock properly and i requested an accessible room and the room was not accessible at all
- Christina (2/5): - It was the worst hotel I've ever seen at
- sherlie Thomas (4/5): - Bathroom needed improvement
- Pamela (10/5): - It was very clean and comfortable
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The bathroom flooded and the TV didn't work.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Perfect for our stay, we needed a place to.land while visiting a friend that had surgery and do some family research.
